VERSES ABOUT PRAYER

Think about what you need and ask God for it. Like any good parent, He knows what His children need. Prayer should absolutely include asking for things, because when you ask God for something, you're acknowledging your own limitations. Whatever your situation, bring your needs to the Lord – whether it's provision, protection, healing, or guidance – and just ask for His help.

Psalm 139:4¹ says, "Before a word is on my tongue you, Lord, know it completely." Prayer unlocks the treasures of God's Kingdom. It's a key the Creator has placed right in your hand, and He wants you to use it.

It would be so easy for Him to just give you everything you need; everything belongs to Him, and the whole universe is under His command. He could easily provide for you without you ever having to ask. But that's not how He designed it. God loves you, and His greatest desire is to have a close relationship with you. Prayer is the channel through which His provision flows into your life.

Lord, in the morning you will hear me; in the morning I will present my case to you and then wait expectantly for an answer.

I am up before dawn crying for help. I find hope in your word.

O God, you are my God! I long for you! My soul thirsts for you, my flesh yearns for you, in a dry and parched land where there is no water.

As for me, I cry out to you, O Lord; in the morning my prayer confronts you.

I yearn for the Lord, more than watchmen do for the morning, yes, more than watchmen do for the morning.

I remember your name during the night, O Lord, and I will keep your law.

I look for you during the night, my spirit within me seeks you at dawn, for when your judgments come upon the earth, those who live in the world learn about justice.

I spread my hands out to you in prayer; my soul thirsts for you in a parched land.

During the evening, morning, and noontime I will lament and moan, and he will hear me.

When I call out, answer me, O God who vindicates me! Though I am hemmed in, you will lead me into a wide, open place. Have mercy on me and respond to my prayer!

Satisfy us in the morning with your loyal love! Then we will shout for joy and be happy all our days!

In the middle of the night I arise to thank you for your just regulations.

But whenever you pray, go into your room, close the door, and pray to your Father in secret. And your Father, who sees in secret, will reward you.

As a deer longs for streams of water, so I long for you, O God!My enemies’ taunts cut into me to the bone, as they say to me all day long, “Where is your God?”Why are you depressed, O my soul? Why are you upset? Wait for God! For I will again give thanks to my God for his saving intervention.I thirst for God, for the living God. I say, “When will I be able to go and appear in God’s presence?”

With all my heart I seek you. Do not allow me to stray from your commands!

The Lord’s loyal kindness never ceases; his compassions never end.They are fresh every morning; your faithfulness is abundant!

Therefore let us confidently approach the throne of grace to receive mercy and find grace whenever we need help.

Guide me into your truth and teach me. For you are the God who delivers me; on you I rely all day long.

I love those who love me, and those who seek me find me.

I cried out with all my heart, “Answer me, O Lord! I will observe your statutes.”I cried out to you, “Deliver me, so that I can keep your rules.”

You remove all the wicked of the earth like slag. Therefore I love your rules.

Do not be anxious about anything. Instead, in every situation, through prayer and petition with thanksgiving, tell your requests to God.And the peace of God that surpasses all understanding will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.

When he calls out to me, I will answer him. I will be with him when he is in trouble; I will rescue him and bring him honor.

Wait patiently for the Lord! Wait confidently for him! Do not fret over the apparent success of a sinner, a man who carries out wicked schemes!

As if with choice meat you satisfy my soul. My mouth joyfully praises you,whenever I remember you on my bed, and think about you during the nighttime hours.

The sovereign Lord has given me the capacity to be his spokesman, so that I know how to help the weary. He wakes me up every morning; he makes me alert so I can listen attentively as disciples do.

I will lie down and sleep peacefully, for you, Lord, make me safe and secure.

From the deep water I cry out to you, O Lord.

So we must not grow weary in doing good, for in due time we will reap, if we do not give up.

I seek your favor with all my heart. Have mercy on me as you promised!

Praise the Lord! How blessed is the one who obeys the Lord, who takes great delight in keeping his commands.

My enemies will turn back when I cry out to you for help; I know that God is on my side.

How can a young person maintain a pure life? By guarding it according to your instructions!

When worries threaten to overwhelm me, your soothing touch makes me happy.

O Lord, your loyal love reaches to the sky; your faithfulness to the clouds.

Certainly O Lord, you are kind and forgiving, and show great faithfulness to all who cry out to you.

But I trust in you, O Lord! I declare, “You are my God!”You determine my destiny! Rescue me from the power of my enemies and those who chase me.

Then you will call out, and the Lord will respond; you will cry out, and he will reply, ‘Here I am.’ You must remove the burdensome yoke from among you and stop pointing fingers and speaking sinfully.

May I be fully committed to your statutes, so that I might not be ashamed. כ (Kaf)

“Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened for you.

Yet I wait for you, O Lord! You will respond, O Lord, my God!

Distress and hardship confront me, yet I find delight in your commands.

The Lord abhors the sacrifices of the wicked, but the prayer of the upright pleases him.

Rejoice in hope, endure in suffering, persist in prayer.

The Lord is near all who cry out to him, all who cry out to him sincerely.

This is the day the Lord has brought about. We will be happy and rejoice in it.

My eyes grow tired as I wait for your promise to be fulfilled. I say, “When will you comfort me?”

But as for me, God’s presence is all I need. I have made the sovereign Lord my shelter, as I declare all the things you have done.

Don’t be afraid, for I am with you! Don’t be frightened, for I am your God! I strengthen you – yes, I help you – yes, I uphold you with my saving right hand!

My heart tells me to pray to you, and I do pray to you, O Lord.

I claim your rules as my permanent possession, for they give me joy.

I will praise the Lord at all times; my mouth will continually praise him.

by casting all your cares on him because he cares for you.

Your loyal followers trust in you, for you, Lord, do not abandon those who seek your help.

May I experience your compassion, so I might live! For I find delight in your law.

Remove me from the path of deceit! Graciously give me your law!

O Lord, you examine me and know.even there your hand would guide me, your right hand would grab hold of me.If I were to say, “Certainly the darkness will cover me, and the light will turn to night all around me,”even the darkness is not too dark for you to see, and the night is as bright as day; darkness and light are the same to you.Certainly you made my mind and heart; you wove me together in my mother’s womb.I will give you thanks because your deeds are awesome and amazing. Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is worthy of respect, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if something is excellent or praiseworthy, think about these things.

You squeeze me in from behind and in front; you place your hand on me.

I rely on the Lord, I rely on him with my whole being; I wait for his assuring word.I yearn for the Lord, more than watchmen do for the morning, yes, more than watchmen do for the morning.

When I am afraid, I trust in you.In God – I boast in his promise – in God I trust, I am not afraid. What can mere men do to me?

Listen to my cry for help, O Lord! Give me insight by your word!

Teach me proper discernment and understanding! For I consider your commands to be reliable.

Your word is absolutely pure, and your servant loves it!

To obey the Lord is the fundamental principle for wise living; all who carry out his precepts acquire good moral insight. He will receive praise forever.

You keep completely safe the people who maintain their faith, for they trust in you.Trust in the Lord from this time forward, even in Yah, the Lord, an enduring protector!

whenever I remember you on my bed, and think about you during the nighttime hours.For you are my deliverer; under your wings I rejoice.

Certainly you reward the godly, Lord. Like a shield you protect them in your good favor.

O God, listen to my prayer! Pay attention to what I say!

In my time of trouble I cry out to you, for you will answer me.

By day the Lord decrees his loyal love, and by night he gives me a song, a prayer to the living God.

I desperately want to be in the courts of the Lord’s temple. My heart and my entire being shout for joy to the living God.

Commit your future to the Lord! Trust in him, and he will act on your behalf.

“Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be satisfied.

Pay attention to my cry for help, my king and my God, for I am praying to you!

The law you have revealed is more important to me than thousands of pieces of gold and silver. י (Yod)

Take away the insults that I dread! Indeed, your regulations are good.

But those who wait for the Lord’s help find renewed strength; they rise up as if they had eagles’ wings, they run without growing weary, they walk without getting tired.

The Lord is merciful and compassionate; he is patient and demonstrates great loyal love.

I rely on the Lord, I rely on him with my whole being; I wait for his assuring word.

Examine me, and probe my thoughts! Test me, and know my concerns!See if there is any idolatrous tendency in me, and lead me in the reliable ancient path!

I relied completely on the Lord, and he turned toward me and heard my cry for help.

In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness, for we do not know how we should pray, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with inexpressible groanings.

Listen to what I say, Lord! Carefully consider my complaint!Condemn them, O God! May their own schemes be their downfall! Drive them away because of their many acts of insurrection, for they have rebelled against you.But may all who take shelter in you be happy! May they continually shout for joy! Shelter them so that those who are loyal to you may rejoice!Certainly you reward the godly, Lord. How blessed are those who observe his rules, and seek him with all their heart,

Listen to my appeal for mercy! Deliver me, as you promised.

The Lord is far from the wicked, but he hears the prayer of the righteous.

May I hear about your loyal love in the morning, for I trust in you. Show me the way I should go, because I long for you.

Tremble with fear and do not sin! Meditate as you lie in bed, and repent of your ways! (Selah)

You are holy; you sit as king receiving the praises of Israel.

I cried out with all my heart, “Answer me, O Lord! I will observe your statutes.”

Even if the mountains are removed and the hills displaced, my devotion will not be removed from you, nor will my covenant of friendship be displaced,” says the Lord, the one who has compassion on you.

Your justice endures, and your law is reliable.

In my distress I cried out to the Lord. The Lord answered me and put me in a wide open place.

You deserve praise, O Lord! Teach me your statutes!

Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.Take my yoke on you and learn from me, because I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.“Are you the one who is to come, or should we look for another?”For my yoke is easy to bear, and my load is not hard to carry.”

How precious is your loyal love, O God! The human race finds shelter under your wings.They are filled with food from your house, and you allow them to drink from the river of your delicacies.For you are the one who gives and sustains life.

As for you, the one who lives in the shelter of the sovereign One, and resides in the protective shadow of the mighty king –

The Lord is my shepherd, I lack nothing.

For his anger lasts only a brief moment, and his good favor restores one’s life. One may experience sorrow during the night, but joy arrives in the morning.

Look, God is my deliverer! I will trust in him and not fear. For the Lord gives me strength and protects me; he has become my deliverer.”

Acknowledge him in all your ways, and he will make your paths straight.

May I live and praise you! May your regulations help me!

God deserves praise, for he did not reject my prayer or abandon his love for me!

For this reason the Lord is ready to show you mercy; he sits on his throne, ready to have compassion on you. Indeed, the Lord is a just God; all who wait for him in faith will be blessed.

Rely on the Lord! Be strong and confident! Rely on the Lord!

But you, O Lord, do not remain far away! You are my source of strength! Hurry and help me!

How blessed is the one whose helper is the God of Jacob, whose hope is in the Lord his God,

He raises the poor from the dirt, and lifts up the needy from the garbage pile,

O Lord, your loyal love reaches to the sky; your faithfulness to the clouds.Your justice is like the highest mountains, your fairness like the deepest sea; you preserve mankind and the animal kingdom.

And my God will supply your every need according to his glorious riches in Christ Jesus.

Commit your works to the Lord, and your plans will be established.

Give thanks to the God of gods, for his loyal love endures.

For there is no distinction between the Jew and the Greek, for the same Lord is Lord of all, who richly blesses all who call on him.

Before they even call out, I will respond; while they are still speaking, I will hear.

Anxiety in a person’s heart weighs him down, but an encouraging word brings him joy.

But may all who take shelter in you be happy! May they continually shout for joy! Shelter them so that those who are loyal to you may rejoice!
