Think about what you need and ask God for it. Like any good parent, He knows what His children need. Prayer should absolutely include asking for things, because when you ask God for something, you're acknowledging your own limitations. Whatever your situation, bring your needs to the Lord – whether it's provision, protection, healing, or guidance – and just ask for His help.
Psalm 139:41 says, "Before a word is on my tongue you, Lord, know it completely." Prayer unlocks the treasures of God's Kingdom. It's a key the Creator has placed right in your hand, and He wants you to use it.
It would be so easy for Him to just give you everything you need; everything belongs to Him, and the whole universe is under His command. He could easily provide for you without you ever having to ask. But that's not how He designed it. God loves you, and His greatest desire is to have a close relationship with you. Prayer is the channel through which His provision flows into your life.
In the morning, Lord, You will hear my voice; In the morning I will present my prayer to You and be on the watch.
God, You are my God; I shall be watching for You; My soul thirsts for You, my flesh yearns for You, In a dry and exhausted land where there is no water.
¶But I, Lord, have cried out to You for help, And in the morning my prayer comes before You.
My soul waits in hope for the Lord More than the watchmen for the morning; Yes, more than the watchmen for the morning.
At night my soul longs for You, Indeed, my spirit within me seeks You diligently; For when the earth experiences Your judgments, The inhabitants of the world learn righteousness.
Answer me when I call, God of my righteousness! You have relieved me in my distress; Be gracious to me and hear my prayer.
Satisfy us in the morning with Your graciousness, That we may sing for joy and rejoice all our days.
But as for you, when you pray, go into your inner room, close your door, and pray to your Father who is in secret; and your Father who sees what is done in secret will reward you.
As the deer pants for the water brooks, So my soul pants for You, God. As a shattering of my bones, my adversaries taunt me, While they say to me all day long, “Where is your God?”Why are you in despair, my soul? And why are you restless within me? Wait for God, for I will again praise Him For the help of His presence, my God.My soul thirsts for God, for the living God; When shall I come and appear before God?
The Lord’s acts of mercy indeed do not end, For His compassions do not fail. They are new every morning; Great is Your faithfulness.
Therefore let’s approach the throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace for help at the time of our need.
Lead me in Your truth and teach me, For You are the God of my salvation; For You I wait all the day.
¶I cried out with all my heart; answer me, Lord! I will comply with Your statutes.I cried to You; save me And I shall keep Your testimonies.
You have removed all the wicked of the earth like impurities; Therefore I love Your testimonies.
Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and pleading with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.And the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension, will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.
“He will call upon Me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble; I will rescue him and honor him.
¶Rest in the Lord and wait patiently for Him; Do not get upset because of one who is successful in his way, Because of the person who carries out wicked schemes.
My soul is satisfied as with fat and fatness, And my mouth offers praises with joyful lips.¶When I remember You on my bed, I meditate on You in the night watches,
¶The Lord God has given Me the tongue of disciples, So that I may know how to sustain the weary one with a word. He awakens Me morning by morning, He awakens My ear to listen as a disciple.
Let’s not become discouraged in doing good, for in due time we will reap, if we do not become weary.
Praise the Lord! Blessed is a person who fears the Lord, Who greatly delights in His commandments.
For You, Lord, are good, and ready to forgive, And abundant in mercy to all who call upon You.
¶But as for me, I trust in You, Lord, I say, “You are my God.”My times are in Your hand; Rescue me from the hand of my enemies and from those who persecute me.
“Then you will call, and the Lord will answer; You will cry for help, and He will say, ‘Here I am.’ If you remove the yoke from your midst, The pointing of the finger and speaking wickedness,
“ Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you.
The sacrifice of the wicked is an abomination to the Lord, But the prayer of the upright is His delight.
But as for me, the nearness of God is good for me; I have made the Lord God my refuge, So that I may tell of all Your works.
‘Do not fear, for I am with you; Do not be afraid, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, I will also help you, I will also uphold you with My righteous right hand.’
And those who know Your name will put their trust in You, For You, Lord, have not abandoned those who seek You.
Lord, You have searched me and known me.Even there Your hand will lead me, And Your right hand will take hold of me.If I say, “Surely the darkness will overwhelm me, And the light around me will be night,”Even darkness is not dark to You, And the night is as bright as the day. Darkness and light are alike to You.¶For You created my innermost parts; You wove me in my mother’s womb.I will give thanks to You, because I am awesomely and wonderfully made; Wonderful are Your works, And my soul knows it very well.My frame was not hidden from You When I was made in secret, And skillfully formed in the depths of the earth;Your eyes have seen my formless substance; And in Your book were written All the days that were ordained for me, When as yet there was not one of them.¶How precious also are Your thoughts for me, God! How vast is the sum of them! Were I to count them, they would outnumber the sand. When I awake, I am still with You.¶If only You would put the wicked to death, God; Leave me, you men of bloodshed. You know when I sit down and when I get up; You understand my thought from far away.
Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence and if anything worthy of praise, think about these things.
¶I wait for the Lord, my soul waits, And I wait for His word. My soul waits in hope for the Lord More than the watchmen for the morning; Yes, more than the watchmen for the morning.
When I am afraid, I will put my trust in You. In God, whose word I praise, In God I have put my trust; I shall not be afraid. What can mere mortals do to me?
The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom; All those who follow His commandments have a good understanding; His praise endures forever.
“The steadfast of mind You will keep in perfect peace, Because he trusts in You.“Trust in the Lord forever, For in God the Lord, we have an everlasting Rock.
¶When I remember You on my bed, I meditate on You in the night watches,For You have been my help, And in the shadow of Your wings I sing for joy.
The Lord will send His goodness in the daytime; And His song will be with me in the night, A prayer to the God of my life.
My soul longed and even yearned for the courtyards of the Lord; My heart and my flesh sing for joy to the living God.
Yet those who wait for the Lord Will gain new strength; They will mount up with wings like eagles, They will run and not get tired, They will walk and not become weary.
¶Search me, God, and know my heart; Put me to the test and know my anxious thoughts; And see if there is any hurtful way in me, And lead me in the everlasting way.
Now in the same way the Spirit also helps our weakness; for we do not know what to pray for as we should, but the Spirit Himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words;
Listen to my words, Lord, Consider my sighing.Make them pay, God; Have them fall by their own schemes! Scatter them in the multitude of their wrongdoings, For they are rebellious against You.¶But rejoice, all who take refuge in You, Sing for joy forever! And may You shelter them, That those who love Your name may rejoice in You.For You bless the righteous person, Lord, You surround him with favor as with a shield.Listen to the sound of my cry for help, my King and my God, For to You I pray.
Let me hear Your faithfulness in the morning, For I trust in You; Teach me the way in which I should walk; For to You I lift up my soul.
“For the mountains may be removed and the hills may shake, But My favor will not be removed from you, Nor will My covenant of peace be shaken,” Says the Lord who has compassion on you.
¶From my distress I called upon the Lord; The Lord answered me and put me in an open space.
“Come to Me, all who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.and said to Him, “Are You the Coming One, or are we to look for someone else?”For My yoke is comfortable, and My burden is light.”
How precious is Your mercy, God! And the sons of mankind take refuge in the shadow of Your wings. They drink their fill of the abundance of Your house; And You allow them to drink from the river of Your delights. For the fountain of life is with You; In Your light we see light.
For His anger is but for a moment, His favor is for a lifetime; Weeping may last for the night, But a shout of joy comes in the morning.
“Behold, God is my salvation, I will trust and not be afraid; For the Lord God is my strength and song, And He has become my salvation.”
¶Therefore the Lord longs to be gracious to you, And therefore He waits on high to have compassion on you. For the Lord is a God of justice; How blessed are all those who long for Him.
And do not take the word of truth utterly out of my mouth, For I wait for Your judgments.
Therefore, brothers and sisters, since we have confidence to enter the holy place by the blood of Jesus,Otherwise, would they not have ceased to be offered, because the worshipers, having once been cleansed, would no longer have had consciousness of sins?by a new and living way which He inaugurated for us through the veil, that is, through His flesh, and since we have a great priest over the house of God,let’s approach God with a sincere heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled clean from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water.
I will raise my eyes to the mountains; From where will my help come?My help comes from the Lord, Who made heaven and earth.
Indeed, while following the way of Your judgments, Lord, We have waited for You eagerly; Your name, and remembering You, is the desire of our souls.
The young lions do without and suffer hunger; But they who seek the Lord will not lack any good thing.
¶“Because he has loved Me, I will save him; I will set him securely on high, because he has known My name.
May the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart Be acceptable in Your sight, Lord, my rock and my Redeemer.
¶But as for me, my prayer is to You, Lord, at an acceptable time; God, in the greatness of Your mercy, Answer me with Your saving truth.
My voice rises to God, and I will cry aloud; My voice rises to God, and He will listen to me.Then I said, “It is my grief, That the right hand of the Most High has changed.”¶I shall remember the deeds of the Lord; I will certainly remember Your wonders of old.I will meditate on all Your work, And on Your deeds with thanksgiving.Your way, God, is holy; What god is great like our God?You are the God who works wonders; You have made known Your strength among the peoples.By Your power You have redeemed Your people, The sons of Jacob and Joseph. Selah¶The waters saw You, God; The waters saw You, they were in anguish; The ocean depths also trembled. The clouds poured out water; The skies sounded out; Your arrows flashed here and there. The sound of Your thunder was in the whirlwind; The lightning lit up the world; The earth trembled and shook.Your way was in the sea And Your paths in the mighty waters, And Your footprints were not known. In the day of my trouble I sought the Lord; In the night my hand was stretched out and did not grow weary; My soul refused to be comforted.
¶Your mercy, Lord, extends to the heavens, Your faithfulness reaches to the skies.Your righteousness is like the mountains of God; Your judgments are like the great deep. Lord, You protect mankind and animals.
And my God will supply all your needs according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus.
For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek; for the same Lord is Lord of all, abounding in riches for all who call on Him;
It will also come to pass that before they call, I will answer; while they are still speaking, I will listen.
¶But rejoice, all who take refuge in You, Sing for joy forever! And may You shelter them, That those who love Your name may rejoice in You.
