VERSES ABOUT PRAYER

Think about what you need and ask God for it. Like any good parent, He knows what His children need. Prayer should absolutely include asking for things, because when you ask God for something, you're acknowledging your own limitations. Whatever your situation, bring your needs to the Lord – whether it's provision, protection, healing, or guidance – and just ask for His help.

Psalm 139:4¹ says, "Before a word is on my tongue you, Lord, know it completely." Prayer unlocks the treasures of God's Kingdom. It's a key the Creator has placed right in your hand, and He wants you to use it.

It would be so easy for Him to just give you everything you need; everything belongs to Him, and the whole universe is under His command. He could easily provide for you without you ever having to ask. But that's not how He designed it. God loves you, and His greatest desire is to have a close relationship with you. Prayer is the channel through which His provision flows into your life.

My voice shall you hear in the morning, O LORD; in the morning will I direct my prayer unto you, and will look up.

I came before the dawning of the morning, and cried out: I hoped in your word.

​O God, you are my God; early will I seek you: my soul thirsts for you, my flesh longs for you in a dry and thirsty land, where no water is;

But unto you have I cried, O LORD; and in the morning shall my prayer go before you.

My soul waits for the Lord more than those who watch for the morning: I say, more than those who watch for the morning.

I have remembered your name, O LORD, in the night, and have kept your law.

With my soul have I desired you in the night; yea, with my spirit within me will I seek you early: for when your judgments are in the earth, the inhabitants of the world will learn righteousness.

I stretch out my hands to you: my soul thirsts for you like a thirsty land. Selah.

Evening, and morning, and at noon, will I pray, and cry aloud: and he shall hear my voice.

​Hear me when I call, O God of my righteousness: you have enlarged me when I was in distress; have mercy upon me, and hear my prayer.

O satisfy us early with your mercy; that we may rejoice and be glad all our days.

At midnight I will rise to give thanks to you because of your righteous judgments.

But you, when you pray, enter into your closet, and when you have shut your door, pray to your Father who is in secret; and your Father who sees in secret shall reward you openly.

​As the deer pants for the brooks of water, so my soul pants for you, O God.My soul thirsts for God, for the living God: when shall I come and appear before God?

With my whole heart have I sought you: O let me not wander from your commandments.

It is of the LORD’S mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions never fail.They are new every morning: great is your faithfulness.

Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.

Lead me in your truth, and teach me: for you are the God of my salvation; on you do I wait all the day.

I love those who love me; and those that seek me early shall find me.

KOPH. I cried with my whole heart; hear me, O LORD: I will keep your statutes.I cried out unto you; save me, and I shall keep your testimonies.

You put away all the wicked of the earth like refuse: therefore I love your testimonies.

Be anxious for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.And the peace of God, which passes all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

He shall call upon me, and I will answer him: I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him, and honor him.

Rest in the LORD, and wait patiently for him: fret not yourself because of him who prospers in his way, because of the man who brings wicked plans to pass.

My soul shall be satisfied as with marrow and fatness; and my mouth shall praise you with joyful lips:When I remember you upon my bed, and meditate on you in the night watches.

The Lord GOD has given me the tongue of the learned, that I should know how to speak a word in season to him who is weary: he wakens me morning by morning, he wakens my ear to hear as the learned.

I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep: for you, LORD, only make me dwell in safety.

​Out of the depths have I cried out unto you, O LORD.

And let us not be weary in well doing: for when the time is right we shall reap, if we do not faint.

I appealed for your favor with my whole heart: be merciful to me according to your word.

Praise ye the LORD. Blessed is the man that fears the LORD, that delights greatly in his commandments.

When I cry unto you, then shall my enemies turn back: this I know; for God is for me.

BETH. How shall a young man cleanse his way? by taking heed to it according to your word.

In the multitude of my thoughts within me your comforts delight my soul.

Your mercy, O LORD, is in the heavens; and your faithfulness reaches to the clouds.

For you, Lord, are good, and ready to forgive; and plenteous in mercy to all those who call upon you.

But I trusted in you, O LORD: I said, You are my God.My times are in your hand: deliver me from the hand of my enemies, and from those who persecute me.

Then you shall call, and the LORD shall answer; you shall cry, and he shall say, Here I am. If you take away from the midst of you the yoke, the putting forth of the finger, and speaking vanity;

Let my heart be sound in your statutes; that I be not ashamed.

Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and you shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you:

For in you, O LORD, do I hope: you will hear, O Lord my God.

Trouble and anguish have taken hold on me: yet your commandments are my delights.

The sacrifice of the wicked is an abomination to the LORD: but the prayer of the upright is his delight.

Rejoicing in hope; patient in tribulation; continuing earnest in prayer;

The LORD is near to all those who call upon him, to all that call upon him in truth.

This is the day which the LORD has made; we will rejoice and be glad in it.

My eyes fail for your word, saying, When will you comfort me?

But it is good for me to draw near to God: I have put my trust in the Lord GOD, that I may declare all your works.

Fear not; for I am with you: be not dismayed; for I am your God: I will strengthen you; yea, I will help you; yea, I will uphold you with the right hand of my righteousness.

When you said, Seek ye my face; my heart said unto you, Your face, LORD, will I seek.

Your testimonies have I taken as a heritage for ever: for they are the rejoicing of my heart.

​I will bless the LORD at all times: his praise shall continually be in my mouth.

Casting all your cares on him; for he cares for you.

And those who know your name will put their trust in you: for you, LORD, have not forsaken those who seek you.

Let your tender mercies come to me, that I may live: for your law is my delight.

Remove from me the way of lying: and grant me your law graciously.

​O LORD, you have searched me, and known me.You know my sitting down and my rising up, you understand my thought afar off.

Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are honest, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report; if there is any virtue, and if there is any praise, think about these things.

You have beset me behind and before, and laid your hand upon me.

I wait for the LORD, my soul waits, and in his word do I hope.My soul waits for the Lord more than those who watch for the morning: I say, more than those who watch for the morning.

When I am afraid, I will trust in you.In God I will praise his word, in God I have put my trust; I will not fear what flesh can do unto me.

TAU. Let my cry come near before you, O LORD: give me understanding according to your word.

Teach me good judgment and knowledge: for I have believed your commandments.

Your word is very pure: therefore your servant loves it.

The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: a good understanding have all those who do his commandments: his praise endures for ever.

You will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is sustained on you: because he trusts in you.Trust in the LORD for ever: for in the LORD JEHOVAH is everlasting strength:

When I remember you upon my bed, and meditate on you in the night watches.Because you have been my help, therefore in the shadow of your wings will I rejoice.

For you, LORD, will bless the righteous; with favor you will surround him as with a shield.

Hear my prayer, O God; give ear to the words of my mouth.

In the day of my trouble I will call upon you: for you will answer me.

Yet the LORD will command his loving kindness in the daytime, and in the night his song shall be with me, and my prayer unto the God of my life.

My soul longs, yea, even faints for the courts of the LORD: my heart and my flesh cry out for the living God.

SAMECH. I hate vain thoughts: but your law do I love.

Commit your way to the LORD; trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass.

Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness: for they shall be filled.

Listen to the voice of my cry, my King, and my God: for unto you will I pray.

The law of your mouth is better to me than thousands of gold and silver pieces.

Turn away my reproach which I fear: for your judgments are good.

But those who wait for the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.

The LORD is gracious, and full of compassion; slow to anger, and of great mercy.

I wait for the LORD, my soul waits, and in his word do I hope.

Search me, O God, and know my heart: examine me, and know my thoughts:And see if there be any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.

​I waited patiently for the LORD; and he turned to me, and heard my cry.

Likewise the Spirit also helps our weaknesses: for we do not know what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself makes intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.

Even there shall your hand lead me, and your right hand shall hold me.

​Give ear to my words, O LORD, consider my meditation.Listen to the voice of my cry, my King, and my God: for unto you will I pray.

Blessed are those who keep his testimonies, and that seek him with the whole heart.

Let my supplication come before you: deliver me according to your word.

The LORD is far from the wicked: but he hears the prayer of the righteous.

Cause me to hear your loving kindness in the morning; for in you do I trust: cause me to know the way in which I should walk; for I lift up my soul unto you.

Stand in awe, and sin not: commune with your own heart upon your bed, and be still. Selah.

But you are holy, O you who dwell in the praises of Israel.

KOPH. I cried with my whole heart; hear me, O LORD: I will keep your statutes.

For the mountains shall depart, and the hills be removed; but my kindness shall not depart from you, neither shall the covenant of my peace be removed, says the LORD who has mercy on you.

Your righteousness is an everlasting righteousness, and your law is the truth.

I called upon the LORD in distress: the LORD answered me, and set me in a large place.

I thank my God in every remembrance of you,

Blessed are you, O LORD: teach me your statutes.

Come unto me, all you who labor and bear heavy burdens, and I will give you rest.Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and you shall find rest for your souls.For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.

How excellent is your loving kindness, O God! therefore the children of men put their trust under the shadow of your wings.They shall be abundantly satisfied with the fatness of your house; and you shall make them drink of the river of your pleasures.For with you is the fountain of life: in your light shall we see light.

He that dwells in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.

​The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want.

For his anger endures but a moment; in his favor is life: weeping may endure for a night, but joy comes in the morning.

Behold, God is my salvation; I will trust, and not be afraid: for the LORD JEHOVAH is my strength and my song; he also has become my salvation.

In all your ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct your paths.

Let my soul live, and it shall praise you; and let your judgments help me.

Blessed be God, who has not turned away my prayer, nor his mercy from me.

I have kept your precepts and your testimonies: for all my ways are before you.

And therefore will the LORD wait, that he may be gracious to you, and therefore will he be exalted, that he may have mercy on you: for the LORD is a God of justice: blessed are all those who wait for him.

Wait on the LORD: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen your heart: wait, I say, on the LORD.

But be not far from me, O LORD: O my strength, make haste to help me.

Blessed be the Lord, who daily loads us with benefits, even the God of our salvation. Selah.

Happy is he that has the God of Jacob for his help, whose hope is in the LORD his God:

He raises up the poor out of the dust, and lifts the needy out of the dunghill;

And take not the word of truth completely out of my mouth; for I have hoped in your judgments.

Having therefore, brethren, boldness to enter into the sanctuary by the blood of Jesus,By a new and living way, which he has consecrated for us, through the veil, that is to say, his flesh;And having a high priest over the house of God;Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience, and our bodies washed with pure water.

O give thanks to the LORD; for he is good: for his mercy endures for ever.

​I will lift up my eyes to the hills, from whence comes my help.My help comes from the LORD, who made heaven and earth.

Yea, in the way of your judgments, O LORD, have we waited for you; the desire of our soul is for your name, and for the remembrance of you.

The young lions do lack, and suffer hunger: but those who seek the LORD shall not be without any good thing.

You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hid.

Because he has set his love upon me, therefore will I deliver him: I will set him on high, because he has known my name.

What shall we then say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?

My soul thirsts for God, for the living God: when shall I come and appear before God?

Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in your sight, O LORD, my strength, and my redeemer.

But as for me, my prayer is unto you, O LORD, in an acceptable time: O God, in the multitude of your mercy hear me, in the truth of your salvation.

​I cried out to God with my voice, even to God with my voice; and he heard me.In the day of my trouble I sought the Lord: my sore flowed in the night, and did not cease: my soul refused to be comforted.

Your mercy, O LORD, is in the heavens; and your faithfulness reaches to the clouds.Your righteousness is like the great mountains; your judgments are a great deep: O LORD, you preserve man and beast.

But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.

Commit your works unto the LORD, and your thoughts shall be established.

O give thanks to the God of gods: for his mercy endures for ever.

For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek: for the same Lord over all is rich to all that call upon him.

And it shall come to pass, that before they call, I will answer; and while they are yet speaking, I will hear.

Sorrow in the heart of man makes it stoop: but a good word makes it glad.

But let all those that put their trust in you rejoice: let them ever shout for joy, because you defend them: let them also that love your name be joyful in you.
