VERSES ABOUT PRAYER

Think about what you need and ask God for it. Like any good parent, He knows what His children need. Prayer should absolutely include asking for things, because when you ask God for something, you're acknowledging your own limitations. Whatever your situation, bring your needs to the Lord – whether it's provision, protection, healing, or guidance – and just ask for His help.

Psalm 139:4¹ says, "Before a word is on my tongue you, Lord, know it completely." Prayer unlocks the treasures of God's Kingdom. It's a key the Creator has placed right in your hand, and He wants you to use it.

It would be so easy for Him to just give you everything you need; everything belongs to Him, and the whole universe is under His command. He could easily provide for you without you ever having to ask. But that's not how He designed it. God loves you, and His greatest desire is to have a close relationship with you. Prayer is the channel through which His provision flows into your life.

In the morning You shall hear my voice: in the morning will I wait upon You, and will look up.

I arose before the dawn, and cried; I hoped in Your words.

A Psalm of David, when he was in the Wilderness of Edom. O God, my God, I cry to You early; my soul has thirsted for You: how often has my flesh longed after You, in a barren and trackless and dry land!

But I cried out to You, O Lord; and in the morning shall my prayer come before You.

My soul has hoped in the Lord; from the morning watch till night.

I remembered Your name, O Lord, in the night, and kept Your law.

which our soul longs for; my spirit seeks You very early in the morning, O God, for Your commandments are a light on the earth; learn righteousness, you that dwell upon the earth.

I spread forth my hands to You; my soul thirsts for You, as a dry land. Pause.

Evening and morning and at noon I will declare and make known my needs; and He shall hear my voice.

For the end, A Song of David among the Psalms. When I called upon Him, the God of my righteousness heard me; You have made room for me in tribulation; pity me, and hearken to my prayer.

We have been satisfied in the morning with Your mercy; and we did exalt and rejoice;

At midnight I arose, to give thanks to You for the judgments of Your righteousness.

But you, whenever you pray, enter into your room, and when you have shut your door, pray to your Father who is in secret; and your Father, who sees in secret, will reward you openly.

For the end, A Psalm of instruction, for the sons of Korah. As the deer earnestly desires the fountains of water, so my soul earnestly longs for You, O God.My soul has thirsted for the living God; when shall I come and appear before God?

With my whole heart have I diligently sought You; cast me not away from Your commandments.

( ח ) HETH. It is through the mercies of the Lord that He has not failed me, because His compassions are not exhausted. Pity us, O Lord, early every month: for we are not brought to an end, because His compassions are not exhausted.They are new every morning: great is Your faithfulness.

Therefore let us come boldly to the throne of grace, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need.

Lead me in Your truth, and teach me; for You are God my Savior; and I have waited on You all the day.

I love those that love me, and they that seek me shall find me.

I cried with my whole heart; hear me, O Lord; I will search out Your statutes.I cried to You; save me, and I will keep Your testimonies.

I have reckoned all the sinners of the earth as transgressors; therefore have I loved Your testimonies.

Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and petition, along with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God;and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, shall guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus.

He shall call upon Me, and I will hearken to him; I am with him in affliction; and I will deliver him, and glorify him.

Submit yourself to the Lord, and make supplication to Him; do not fret because of him that prospers in his way, at the man that does unlawful deeds.

Let my soul be filled as with marrow and fatness; and my joyful lips shall praise Your name.For I have remembered You on my bed; in the early seasons I have meditated on You.

The Lord, even God, gives me the tongue of instruction, to know when it is fit to speak a word; He has appointed for me early, He has given me an ear to hear;

I will both lie down in peace and sleep; for You alone, O Lord, have caused me to dwell securely.

A Song of Degrees. Out of the depths have I cried to You, O Lord.

And while we do good, let us not lose heart, for in due season we shall reap if we do not become weary.

I besought Your favor with my whole heart; have mercy upon me according to Your word.

Alleluia. Blessed is the man that fears the Lord; he will delight greatly in His commandments.

My enemies shall be turned back, in the day that I shall call upon You; behold, I know that You are my God.

How shall a young man direct his way? By keeping Your words.

Your mercy, O Lord, has helped me. O Lord, according to the multitude of my griefs within my heart, Your consolation has soothed my soul.

O Lord, Your mercy is in the heavens; and Your truth reaches to the clouds.

For You, O Lord, are kind and gentle, and plenteous in mercy to all that call upon You.

But I hoped in You, O Lord; I said, You are my God.My times are in Your hands; deliver me from the hand of my enemies,

Then shall you cry, and God shall hearken to you; while you are yet speaking He will say, Behold, I am here. If you remove from you the band, and the stretching forth of the hands, and murmuring speech;

Let my heart be blameless regarding Your statutes, that I may not be ashamed.

"Ask, and it shall be given to you; seek, and you shall find; knock, and it shall be opened to you.

For I hoped in You, O Lord; You will hear, O Lord my God.

Afflictions and distresses found me; but Your commandments were my meditation.

The sacrifices of the ungodly are an abomination to the Lord, but the prayers of them that walk honestly are acceptable to Him.

rejoicing in hope, enduring in tribulation, continuing steadfastly in prayer;

The Lord is near to all that call upon Him, to all that call upon Him in truth.

This is the day that the Lord has made; let us exalt and rejoice in it.

My eyes failed from searching for Your word, saying, When will You comfort me?

But it is good for me to cleave close to God, to put my trust in the Lord; that I may proclaim all Your praises in the gates of the daughter of Zion.

Fear not; for I am with you; wander not; for I am your God, who has strengthened you; and I have helped you, and have established you with My righteous right hand.

My heart said to You, I have diligently sought Your face; Your face, O Lord, I will seek.

I have inherited Your testimonies forever; for they are the joy of my heart.

A Psalm of David, when he changed his countenance before Abimelech; and he let him go, and he departed. I will bless the Lord at all times; His praise shall be continually in my mouth.

casting all your anxiety upon Him, because He cares about you.

And let them that know Your name hope in You - for You, O Lord, have not failed them that diligently seek You.

Let Your compassions come to me, that I may live; for Your law is my meditation.

Remove from me the way of iniquity; and be merciful to me by Your law.

For the end, A Psalm of David. O Lord, You have proved me, and known me.You know my sitting down and my rising up; You understand my thoughts long before.

Finally, brothers, as many things as are true, as many as are honorable, as many as are just, as many as are pure, as many as are lovely--if there is any virtue and if there is any praise--meditate on these things.

the last and the first: You have fashioned me, and laid Your hand upon me.

for Your name's sake have I waited for You, O Lord, my soul has waited for Your word.My soul has hoped in the Lord; from the morning watch till night.

They shall be afraid, but I will trust in You.In God (I will praise His word); all the day long have I hoped in God; I will not fear; what shall man do to me?

Let my supplication come near before You, O Lord; instruct me according to Your oracle.

Teach me kindness, instruction, and knowledge; for I have believed Your commandments.

Your word has been very fully tried; and Your servant loves it.

The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, and all that act accordingly have a good understanding; His praise endures forever and ever.

supporting truth, and keeping peace; for on You, O Lord,they have trusted with confidence forever, the great, eternal God;

For I have remembered You on my bed; in the early seasons I have meditated on You.For You have been my helper, and in the shelter of Your wings will I rejoice.

For You, O Lord, shall bless the righteous: You have compassed us as with a shield of favor.

O God, hear my prayer; hearken to the words of my mouth.

In the day of my trouble I cried to You; and You heard me.

By day the Lord will command His mercy, and manifest it by night; with me is prayer to the God of my life.

My soul longs and faints for the courts of the Lord; my heart and my flesh have exalted in the living God.

I have hated transgressors; but I have loved Your law.

Disclose Your way to the Lord, and trust in Him; and He shall bring it to pass.

Blessed are those who hunger and thirst after righteousness, for they shall be filled.

Attend to the voice of my supplication, my King, and my God; for to You, O Lord, will I pray.

The law of Your mouth is better to me than thousands of coins of gold and silver.

Take away my reproach which I have feared; for Your judgments are good.

but they that wait on God shall renew their strength; they shall put forth new feathers like eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; they shall walk, and not faint.

The Lord is compassionate, and merciful; long suffering, and abundant in mercy.

Prove me, O God, and know my heart; examine me, and know my paths;and see if there is any way of iniquity in me, and lead me in an everlasting way.

For the end, A Psalm of David. I waited patiently for the Lord; and He attended to me, and hearkened to my supplication.

Likewise the Spirit also helps in our weaknesses. For we do not know what we should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit Himself intercedes for us with inexpressible groanings.

for even there Your hand would guide me, and Your right hand would hold me.

For the end, A Psalm of David, concerning her that inherits. Hearken to my words, O Lord, attend to my cry.Attend to the voice of my supplication, my King, and my God; for to You, O Lord, will I pray.

Blessed are they that search out His testimonies; they will diligently seek Him with the whole heart.

Let my petition come in before You, O Lord; deliver me according to Your word.

God is far from the ungodly, but He hears the prayers of the righteous. (15:29A) Better are small receipts with righteousness, than abundant fruits with unrighteousness. (15:29B) Let the heart of a man think justly, that his steps may be rightly ordered of God.

Cause me to hear Your mercy in the morning; for I have hoped in You; make known to me, O Lord, the way in which I should walk; for I have lifted up my soul to You.

Be angry, and sin not; feel compunction upon your beds for what you say in your hearts. Pause.

But You, O praise of Israel, dwell in a sanctuary.

I cried with my whole heart; hear me, O Lord; I will search out Your statutes.

shall the mountains depart, nor shall your hills be removed; so neither shall My mercy fail you, nor shall the covenant of your peace be at all removed; for the Lord who is gracious to you has spoken it.

Your righteousness is an everlasting righteousness, and Your law is truth.

I called on the Lord out of affliction; and He hearkened to me, and brought me into a wide place.

I thank my God upon every remembrance of you,

Blessed are You, O Lord; teach me Your statutes.

Come to Me, all you who labor and are burdened, and I will give you rest.Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.For My yoke is easy and My burden is light."

How have You multiplied Your mercy, O God! So the children of men shall trust in the shelter of Your wings.They shall be fully satisfied with the fatness of Your house; and You shall cause them to drink of the full stream of Your delights.For with You is the fountain of life; in Your light we shall see light.

Praise of a Song, by David. He that dwells in the help of the Highest, shall sojourn under the shelter of the God of heaven.

A Psalm of David. The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want.

For anger is in His wrath, but life in His favor; weeping shall tarry for the evening, but joy comes in the morning.

Behold, my God is my Savior; I will trust in Him, and not be afraid; for the Lord is my glory and my praise, and has become my salvation.

In all your ways acquaint yourself with her, that she may rightly direct your paths.

My soul shall live, and shall praise You; and Your judgments shall help me.

Blessed be God, who has not turned away my prayer, nor His mercy from me.

I have kept Your commandments and Your testimonies; for all my ways are before You, O Lord.

And the Lord will again wait, that He may pity you, and will therefore be exalted that He may have mercy upon you; because the Lord your God is a Judge; blessed are they that wait on Him.

Wait on the Lord; be of good courage, and let your heart be strengthened; yea, wait on the Lord!

But You, O Lord, be not far from Me; be ready for My aid.

Blessed be the Lord God, blessed be the Lord daily; and the God of our salvation shall prosper us. Pause.

Blessed is he whose helper is the God of Jacob, whose hope is in the Lord his God:

who lifts up the poor from the earth, and raises up the needy from the dunghill;

And take not the word of truth utterly out of my mouth; for I have hoped in Your judgments.

Therefore, brothers, having boldness to enter the Holiest by the blood of Jesus,by a new and living way which He inaugurated for us, through the veil, that is, His flesh,and having a High Priest over the house of God,let us approach with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience, and our bodies having been washed with clean water.

Alleluia. Give thanks to the Lord: for He is good: for His mercy endures forever.

The rich have become poor and hungry; but they that seek the Lord diligently shall not lack any good thing. Pause.

You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden.

For he has hoped in Me, and I will deliver him; I will protect him, because he has known My name.

What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?

My soul has thirsted for the living God; when shall I come and appear before God?

So shall the sayings of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be pleasing continually before You, O Lord my helper, and my redeemer.

But I will cry to You, O Lord, in my prayer; O God, it is a propitious time: in the multitude of Your mercy hear me, in the truth of Your salvation.

For the end, for Idithun, A Psalm of Asaph. I cried to the Lord with my voice, yea, my voice was addressed to God; and He gave heed to me.In the day of my affliction I earnestly sought the Lord; even with my hands by night before Him, and I was not deceived; my soul refused to be comforted.

O Lord, Your mercy is in the heavens; and Your truth reaches to the clouds.Your righteousness is as the mountains of God, Your judgments are as a great deep; O Lord, You will preserve men and beasts.

And my God will supply all your need according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus.

Give thanks to the God of gods; for His mercy endures forever.

For there is no difference between Jew and Greek, for the same Lord of all is rich to all who call upon Him.

And it shall come to pass, that before they call, I will hearken to them; while they are yet speaking, I will say, What is it?

A terrible word troubles the heart of a righteous man, but a good message rejoices him.

But let all that trust in You be glad in You: they shall rejoice forever, and You shall dwell among them; and all that love Your name shall rejoice in You.
