VERSES ABOUT PRAYER

Think about what you need and ask God for it. Like any good parent, He knows what His children need. Prayer should absolutely include asking for things, because when you ask God for something, you're acknowledging your own limitations. Whatever your situation, bring your needs to the Lord – whether it's provision, protection, healing, or guidance – and just ask for His help.

Psalm 139:4¹ says, "Before a word is on my tongue you, Lord, know it completely." Prayer unlocks the treasures of God's Kingdom. It's a key the Creator has placed right in your hand, and He wants you to use it.

It would be so easy for Him to just give you everything you need; everything belongs to Him, and the whole universe is under His command. He could easily provide for you without you ever having to ask. But that's not how He designed it. God loves you, and His greatest desire is to have a close relationship with you. Prayer is the channel through which His provision flows into your life.

In the morning, O Lord, You hear my voice; at daybreak I lay my plea before You and wait in expectation.

I rise before dawn and cry for help; in Your word I have put my hope.

O God, You are my God. Earnestly I seek You; my soul thirsts for You. My body yearns for You in a dry and weary land without water.

But to You, O Lord, I cry for help; in the morning my prayer comes before You.

My soul waits for the Lord more than watchmen wait for the morning— more than watchmen wait for the morning.

In the night, O Lord, I remember Your name, that I may keep Your law.

My soul longs for You in the night; indeed, my spirit seeks You at dawn. For when Your judgments come upon the earth, the people of the world learn righteousness.

I stretch out my hands to You; my soul thirsts for You like a parched land. Selah

Morning, noon, and night, I cry out in distress, and He hears my voice.

Answer me when I call, O God of my righteousness! You have relieved my distress; show me grace and hear my prayer.

Satisfy us in the morning with Your loving devotion, that we may sing for joy and be glad all our days.

At midnight I rise to give You thanks for Your righteous judgments.

But when you pray, go into your inner room, shut your door, and pray to your Father, who is unseen. And your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.

As the deer pants for streams of water, so my soul longs after You, O God.Like the crushing of my bones, my enemies taunt me, while they say to me all day long, “Where is your God?”Why are you downcast, O my soul? Why the unease within me? Put your hope in God, for I will yet praise Him, my Savior and my God.My soul thirsts for God, the living God. When shall I come and appear in God’s presence?

With all my heart I have sought You; do not let me stray from Your commandments.

Because of the loving devotion of the Lord we are not consumed, for His mercies never fail.They are new every morning; great is Your faithfulness!

Let us then approach the throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.

Guide me in Your truth and teach me, for You are the God of my salvation; all day long I wait for You.

I love those who love me, and those who seek me early shall find me.

I call with all my heart; answer me, O Lord! I will obey Your statutes.I call to You; save me, that I may keep Your testimonies.

All the wicked on earth You discard like dross; therefore I love Your testimonies.

Be anxious for nothing, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

When he calls out to Me, I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble. I will deliver him and honor him.

Be still before the Lord and wait patiently for Him; do not fret when men prosper in their ways, when they carry out wicked schemes.

My soul is satisfied as with the richest of foods; with joyful lips my mouth will praise You.When I remember You on my bed, I think of You through the watches of the night.

The Lord GOD has given Me the tongue of discipleship, to sustain the weary with a word. He awakens Me morning by morning; He awakens My ear to listen as a disciple.

I will lie down and sleep in peace, for You alone, O Lord, make me dwell in safety.

Out of the depths I cry to You, O Lord!

Let us not grow weary in well-doing, for in due time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.

I have sought Your face with all my heart; be gracious to me according to Your promise.

Hallelujah! Blessed is the man who fears the Lord, who greatly delights in His commandments.

Then my enemies will retreat on the day I cry for help. By this I will know that God is on my side.

How can a young man keep his way pure? By guarding it according to Your word.

When anxiety overwhelms me, Your consolation delights my soul.

Your loving devotion, O Lord, reaches to the heavens, Your faithfulness to the clouds.

For You, O Lord, are kind and forgiving, rich in loving devotion to all who call on You.

But I trust in You, O Lord; I say, “You are my God.”My times are in Your hands; deliver me from my enemies and from those who pursue me.

Then you will call, and the Lord will answer; you will cry out, and He will say, ‘Here I am.’ If you remove the yoke from your midst, the pointing of the finger and malicious talk,

May my heart be blameless in Your statutes, that I may not be put to shame.

Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and the door will be opened to you.

I wait for You, O Lord; You will answer, O Lord my God.

Trouble and distress have found me, but Your commandments are my delight.

The sacrifice of the wicked is detestable to the Lord, but the prayer of the upright is His delight.

Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, persistent in prayer.

The Lord is near to all who call on Him, to all who call out to Him in truth.

This is the day that the Lord has made; we will rejoice and be glad in it.

My eyes fail, looking for Your promise; I ask, “When will You comfort me?”

But as for me, it is good to draw near to God. I have made the Lord GOD my refuge, that I may proclaim all Your works.

Do not fear, for I am with you; do not be afraid, for I am your God. I will strengthen you; I will surely help you; I will uphold you with My right hand of righteousness.

My heart said, “Seek His face.” Your face, O Lord, I will seek.

Your testimonies are my heritage forever, for they are the joy of my heart.

I will bless the Lord at all times; His praise will always be on my lips.

Cast all your anxiety on Him, because He cares for you.

Those who know Your name trust in You, for You, O Lord, have not forsaken those who seek You.

May Your compassion come to me, that I may live, for Your law is my delight.

Remove me from the path of deceit and graciously grant me Your law.

O Lord, You have searched me and known me.even there Your hand will guide me; Your right hand will hold me fast.If I say, “Surely the darkness will hide me, and the light become night around me”—even the darkness is not dark to You, but the night shines like the day, for darkness is as light to You.For You formed my inmost being; You knit me together in my mother’s womb.I praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. When I am afraid, I put my trust in You.In God, whose word I praise— in God I trust. I will not be afraid. What can man do to me?

May my cry come before You, O Lord; give me understanding according to Your word.

Teach me good judgment and knowledge, for I believe in Your commandments.

Your promise is completely pure; therefore Your servant loves it.

The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom; all who follow His precepts gain rich understanding. His praise endures forever!

You will keep in perfect peace the steadfast of mind, because he trusts in You.Trust in the Lord forever, because GOD the Lord is the Rock eternal.

When I remember You on my bed, I think of You through the watches of the night.For You are my help; I will sing for joy in the shadow of Your wings.

For surely You, O Lord, bless the righteous; You surround them with the shield of Your favor.

Hear my prayer, O God; listen to the words of my mouth.

In the day of my distress I call on You, because You answer me.

The Lord decrees His loving devotion by day, and at night His song is with me as a prayer to the God of my life.

My soul longs, even faints, for the courts of the Lord; my heart and my flesh cry out for the living God.

The double-minded I despise, but Your law I love.

Commit your way to the Lord; trust in Him, and He will do it.

Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled.

Attend to the sound of my cry, my King and my God, for to You I pray.

The law from Your mouth is more precious to me than thousands of pieces of gold and silver.

Turn away the disgrace I dread, for Your judgments are good.

But those who wait upon the Lord will renew their strength; they will mount up with wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not faint.

The Lord is gracious and compassionate, slow to anger and abounding in loving devotion.

I wait for the Lord; my soul does wait, and in His word I put my hope.

Search me, O God, and know my heart; test me and know my concerns.See if there is any offensive way in me; lead me in the way everlasting.

I waited patiently for the Lord; He inclined to me and heard my cry.

In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. For we do not know how we ought to pray, but the Spirit Himself intercedes for us with groans too deep for words.

Blessed are those who keep His testimonies and seek Him with all their heart.

May my plea come before You; rescue me according to Your promise.

The Lord is far from the wicked, but He hears the prayer of the righteous.

Let me hear Your loving devotion in the morning, for I have put my trust in You. Teach me the way I should walk, for to You I lift up my soul.

Be angry, yet do not sin; on your bed, search your heart and be still. Selah

Yet You are holy, enthroned on the praises of Israel.

I call with all my heart; answer me, O Lord! I will obey Your statutes.

Though the mountains may be removed and the hills may be shaken, My loving devotion will not depart from you, and My covenant of peace will not be broken,” says the Lord, who has compassion on you.

Your righteousness is everlasting and Your law is true.

In my distress I called to the Lord, and He answered and set me free.

Blessed are You, O Lord; teach me Your statutes.

Come to Me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me; for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.to ask Him, “Are You the One who was to come, or should we look for someone else?”For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.”

How precious is Your loving devotion, O God, that the children of men take refuge in the shadow of Your wings!They feast on the abundance of Your house, and You give them drink from Your river of delights.For with You is the fountain of life; in Your light we see light.

He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will abide in the shadow of the Almighty.

The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.

For His anger is fleeting, but His favor lasts a lifetime. Weeping may stay the night, but joy comes in the morning.

Surely God is my salvation; I will trust and not be afraid. For the Lord GOD is my strength and my song, and He also has become my salvation.”

in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight.

Let me live to praise You; may Your judgments sustain me.

Blessed be God, who has not rejected my prayer or withheld from me His loving devotion!

I obey Your precepts and Your testimonies, for all my ways are before You.

Therefore the Lord longs to be gracious to you; therefore He rises to show you compassion, for the Lord is a just God. Blessed are all who wait for Him.

Wait patiently for the Lord; be strong and courageous. Wait patiently for the Lord!

But You, O Lord, be not far off; O my Strength, come quickly to help me.

Blessed be the Lord, who daily bears our burden, the God of our salvation. Selah

Blessed is he whose help is the God of Jacob, whose hope is in the Lord his God,

He raises the poor from the dust and lifts the needy from the dump

Never take Your word of truth from my mouth, for I hope in Your judgments.

Therefore, brothers, since we have confidence to enter the Most Holy Place by the blood of Jesus,If it could, would not the offerings have ceased? For the worshipers would have been cleansed once for all, and would no longer have felt the guilt of their sins.by the new and living way opened for us through the curtain of His body,and since we have a great priest over the house of God,let us draw near with a sincere heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled to cleanse us from a guilty conscience and our bodies washed with pure water.

Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good. His loving devotion endures forever.

I lift up my eyes to the hills. From where does my help come?My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth.

Yes, we wait for You, O Lord; we walk in the path of Your judgments. Your name and renown are the desire of our souls.

Young lions go lacking and hungry, but those who seek the Lord lack no good thing.

You are the light of the world. A city on a hill cannot be hidden.

“Because he loves Me, I will deliver him; because he knows My name, I will protect him.

What then shall we say in response to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?

My soul thirsts for God, the living God. When shall I come and appear in God’s presence?

May the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be pleasing in Your sight, O Lord, my Rock and my Redeemer.

But my prayer to You, O Lord, is for a time of favor. In Your abundant loving devotion, O God, answer me with Your sure salvation.

I cried out to God; I cried aloud to God to hear me.So I said, “I am grieved that the right hand of the Most High has changed.” I will remember the works of the Lord; yes, I will remember Your wonders of old.I will reflect on all You have done and ponder Your mighty deeds.Your way, O God, is holy. Your loving devotion, O Lord, reaches to the heavens, Your faithfulness to the clouds.Your righteousness is like the highest mountains; Your judgments are like the deepest sea. O Lord, You preserve man and beast.

And my God will supply all your needs according to His glorious riches in Christ Jesus.

Commit your works to the Lord and your plans will be achieved.

For there is no difference between Jew and Greek: The same Lord is Lord of all, and gives richly to all who call on Him,

Even before they call, I will answer, and while they are still speaking, I will hear.

Anxiety weighs down the heart of a man, but a good word cheers it up.

But let all who take refuge in You rejoice; let them ever shout for joy. May You shelter them, that those who love Your name may rejoice in You.
