For thus said the Lord God, the Holy One of Israel, “In returning and rest you shall be saved; in quietness and in trust shall be your strength.” And you would not,
Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me; for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.and said to him, “Are you he who is to come, or shall we look for another?”For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.”
For God alone my soul waits in silence; from him comes my salvation.Put no confidence in extortion, set no vain hopes on robbery; if riches increase, set not your heart on them.Once God has spoken; twice have I heard this: that power belongs to God;and that to thee, O Lord, belongs steadfast love. For thou dost requite a man according to his work.He only is my rock and my salvation, my fortress; I shall not be greatly moved.
The Lord is good to those who wait for him, to the soul that seeks him.It is good that one should wait quietly for the salvation of the Lord.
And the effect of righteousness will be peace, and the result of righteousness, quietness and trust for ever.My people will abide in a peaceful habitation, in secure dwellings, and in quiet resting places.
Be still before the Lord, and wait patiently for him; fret not yourself over him who prospers in his way, over the man who carries out evil devices!
In peace I will both lie down and sleep; for thou alone, O Lord, makest me dwell in safety.
Thou dost keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee, because he trusts in thee.
Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid.
Have no anxiety about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.And the peace of God, which passes all understanding, will keep your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

And he said, “Go forth, and stand upon the mount before the Lord.” And behold, the Lord passed by, and a great and strong wind rent the mountains, and broke in pieces the rocks before the Lord, but the Lord was not in the wind; and after the wind an earthquake, but the Lord was not in the earthquake;and after the earthquake a fire, but the Lord was not in the fire; and after the fire a still small voice.
but they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength, they shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint.
One thing have I asked of the Lord, that will I seek after; that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the Lord, and to inquire in his temple. For he will hide me in his shelter in the day of trouble; he will conceal me under the cover of his tent, he will set me high upon a rock.
fear not, for I am with you, be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my victorious right hand.

Make me to know thy ways, O Lord; teach me thy paths.Lead me in thy truth, and teach me, for thou art the God of my salvation; for thee I wait all the day long.
I will meditate on thy precepts, and fix my eyes on thy ways. They draw near who persecute me with evil purpose; they are far from thy law.But thou art near, O Lord, and all thy commandments are true.Long have I known from thy testimonies that thou hast founded them for ever.Look on my affliction and deliver me, for I do not forget thy law.Plead my cause and redeem me; give me life according to thy promise!Salvation is far from the wicked, for they do not seek thy statutes.Great is thy mercy, O Lord; give me life according to thy justice. Many are my persecutors and my adversaries, but I do not swerve from thy testimonies.I look at the faithless with disgust, because they do not keep thy commands.Consider how I love thy precepts! Preserve my life according to thy steadfast love.I will delight in thy statutes; I will not forget thy word.
The Lord God has given me the tongue of those who are taught, that I may know how to sustain with a word him that is weary. Morning by morning he wakens, he wakens my ear to hear as those who are taught.

Comfort, comfort my people, says your God.Behold, the Lord God comes with might, and his arm rules for him; behold, his reward is with him, and his recompense before him.He will feed his flock like a shepherd, he will gather the lambs in his arms, he will carry them in his bosom, and gently lead those that are with young.Who has measured the waters in the hollow of his hand and marked off the heavens with a span, enclosed the dust of the earth in a measure and weighed the mountains in scales and the hills in a balance?Who has directed the Spirit of the Lord, or as his counselor has instructed him?Whom did he consult for his enlightenment, and who taught him the path of justice, and taught him knowledge, and showed him the way of understanding?Behold, the nations are like a drop from a bucket, and are accounted as the dust on the scales; behold, he takes up the isles like fine dust.Lebanon would not suffice for fuel, nor are its beasts enough for a burnt offering. All the nations are as nothing before him, they are accounted by him as less than nothing and emptiness. To whom then will you liken God, or what likeness compare with him?The idol! a workman casts it, and a goldsmith overlays it with gold, and casts for it silver chains.Speak tenderly to Jerusalem, and cry to her that her warfare is ended, that her iniquity is pardoned, that she has received from the Lord's hand double for all her sins.
