Life throws curveballs, right? We all face tough times – loss, financial struggles, illness… it can feel overwhelming. But you know what? It's incredibly comforting to know that God is right there with us, every step of the way.
The Bible is full of beautiful verses reminding us that He will never leave us or forsake us. He's fighting for us, even when we can't see it. He's our comforter, and He shows up right when we need Him most. With God's help, you can keep going, trusting in the One who can do anything and who gave His beloved Son for you. (For example, see Deuteronomy 31:6)
Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.Take my yoke on you and learn from me, because I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.“Are you the one who is to come, or should we look for another?”For my yoke is easy to bear, and my load is not hard to carry.”
Don’t be afraid, for I am with you! Don’t be frightened, for I am your God! I strengthen you – yes, I help you – yes, I uphold you with my saving right hand!
Even when I must walk through the darkest valley, I fear no danger, for you are with me; your rod and your staff reassure me.
“Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you; I do not give it to you as the world does. Do not let your hearts be distressed or lacking in courage.
Do not be anxious about anything. Instead, in every situation, through prayer and petition with thanksgiving, tell your requests to God.And the peace of God that surpasses all understanding will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.
Throw your burden upon the Lord, and he will sustain you. He will never allow the godly to be upended.
For I consider that our present sufferings cannot even be compared to the glory that will be revealed to us.
Blessed is the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort,who comforts us in all our troubles so that we may be able to comfort those experiencing any trouble with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God.
I have told you these things so that in me you may have peace. In the world you have trouble and suffering, but take courage – I have conquered the world.”
For God alone I patiently wait; he is the one who delivers me.Do not trust in what you can gain by oppression! Do not put false confidence in what you can gain by robbery! If wealth increases, do not become attached to it!God has declared one principle; two principles I have heard: God is strong,and you, O Lord, demonstrate loyal love. For you repay men for what they do.He alone is my protector and deliverer. He is my refuge; I will not be upended.
You keep track of my misery. Put my tears in your leather container! Are they not recorded in your scroll?
But he lifted up our illnesses, he carried our pain; even though we thought he was being punished, attacked by God, and afflicted for something he had done.
Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you believe in him, so that you may abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.
Why are you depressed, O my soul? Why are you upset? Wait for God! For I will again give thanks to my God for his saving intervention.
When you pass through the waters, I am with you; when you pass through the streams, they will not overwhelm you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned; the flames will not harm you.
The Lord’s loyal kindness never ceases; his compassions never end.They are fresh every morning; your faithfulness is abundant!
And we know that all things work together for good for those who love God, who are called according to his purpose,
For we do not have a high priest incapable of sympathizing with our weaknesses, but one who has been tempted in every way just as we are, yet without sin.Therefore let us confidently approach the throne of grace to receive mercy and find grace whenever we need help.
He gives strength to those who are tired; to the ones who lack power, he gives renewed energy.A voice cries out, “In the wilderness clear a way for the Lord; construct in the desert a road for our God.Even youths get tired and weary; even strong young men clumsily stumble.But those who wait for the Lord’s help find renewed strength; they rise up as if they had eagles’ wings, they run without growing weary, they walk without getting tired.
Turn toward me and have mercy on me, for I am alone and oppressed!Deliver me from my distress; rescue me from my suffering!
The Lord takes delight in his faithful followers, and in those who wait for his loyal love.
Your conduct must be free from the love of money and you must be content with what you have, for he has said, “I will never leave you and I will never abandon you.”
No trial has overtaken you that is not faced by others. And God is faithful: He will not let you be tried beyond what you are able to bear, but with the trial will also provide a way out so that you may be able to endure it.
As for you, the one who lives in the shelter of the sovereign One, and resides in the protective shadow of the mighty king –No harm will overtake you; no illness will come near your home.For he will order his angels to protect you in all you do.They will lift you up in their hands, so you will not slip and fall on a stone.You will subdue a lion and a snake; you will trample underfoot a young lion and a serpent.The Lord says, “Because he is devoted to me, I will deliver him; I will protect him because he is loyal to me.When he calls out to me, I will answer him. I will be with him when he is in trouble; I will rescue him and bring him honor.I will satisfy him with long life, and will let him see my salvation.I say this about the Lord, my shelter and my stronghold, my God in whom I trust –
This brings you great joy, although you may have to suffer for a short time in various trials.Such trials show the proven character of your faith, which is much more valuable than gold – gold that is tested by fire, even though it is passing away – and will bring praise and glory and honor when Jesus Christ is revealed.
Praise the Lord, O my soul! With all that is within me, praise his holy name!He does not deal with us as our sins deserve; he does not repay us as our misdeeds deserve.For as the skies are high above the earth, so his loyal love towers over his faithful followers.As far as the eastern horizon is from the west, so he removes the guilt of our rebellious actions from us.As a father has compassion on his children, so the Lord has compassion on his faithful followers.For he knows what we are made of; he realizes we are made of clay.A person’s life is like grass. Like a flower in the field it flourishes,but when the hot wind blows by, it disappears, and one can no longer even spot the place where it once grew.But the Lord continually shows loyal love to his faithful followers, and is faithful to their descendants,to those who keep his covenant, who are careful to obey his commands.The Lord has established his throne in heaven; his kingdom extends over everything.Praise the Lord, O my soul! Do not forget all his kind deeds!Praise the Lord, you angels of his, you powerful warriors who carry out his decrees and obey his orders!Praise the Lord, all you warriors of his, you servants of his who carry out his desires!Praise the Lord, all that he has made, in all the regions of his kingdom! Praise the Lord, O my soul!He is the one who forgives all your sins, who heals all your diseases,who delivers your life from the Pit, who crowns you with his loyal love and compassion,who satisfies your life with good things, so your youth is renewed like an eagle’s.
For this is what the high and exalted one says, the one who rules forever, whose name is holy: “I dwell in an exalted and holy place, but also with the discouraged and humiliated, in order to cheer up the humiliated and to encourage the discouraged.
Not only this, but we also rejoice in sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance,and endurance, character, and character, hope.And hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out in our hearts through the Holy Spirit who was given to us.
I relied completely on the Lord, and he turned toward me and heard my cry for help.I have not failed to tell about your justice; I spoke about your reliability and deliverance; I have not neglected to tell the great assembly about your loyal love and faithfulness.O Lord, you do not withhold your compassion from me. May your loyal love and faithfulness continually protect me!For innumerable dangers surround me. he will swallow up death permanently. The sovereign Lord will wipe away the tears from every face, and remove his people’s disgrace from all the earth. Indeed, the Lord has announced it!
Therefore we do not despair, but even if our physical body is wearing away, our inner person is being renewed day by day.For our momentary, light suffering is producing for us an eternal weight of glory far beyond all comparisonbecause we are not looking at what can be seen but at what cannot be seen. For what can be seen is temporary, but what cannot be seen is eternal.
Show me evidence of your favor! Then those who hate me will see it and be ashamed, for you, O Lord, will help me and comfort me.
What then shall we say about these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?Indeed, he who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all – how will he not also, along with him, freely give us all things?
Those who shed tears as they plant will shout for joy when they reap the harvest.The one who weeps as he walks along, carrying his bag of seed, will certainly come in with a shout of joy, carrying his sheaves of grain.
Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not rely on your own understanding.Acknowledge him in all your ways, and he will make your paths straight.
Even if the mountains are removed and the hills displaced, my devotion will not be removed from you, nor will my covenant of friendship be displaced,” says the Lord, the one who has compassion on you.
“I am the vine; you are the branches. The one who remains in me – and I in him – bears much fruit, because apart from me you can accomplish nothing.
Though you have allowed me to experience much trouble and distress, revive me once again! Bring me up once again from the depths of the earth!Raise me to a position of great honor! Turn and comfort me!
The spirit of the sovereign Lord is upon me, because the Lord has chosen me. He has commissioned me to encourage the poor, to help the brokenhearted, to decree the release of captives, and the freeing of prisoners,I will greatly rejoice in the Lord; I will be overjoyed because of my God. For he clothes me in garments of deliverance; he puts on me a robe symbolizing vindication. I look like a bridegroom when he wears a turban as a priest would; I look like a bride when she puts on her jewelry.For just as the ground produces its crops and a garden yields its produce, so the sovereign Lord will cause deliverance to grow, and give his people reason to praise him in the sight of all the nations.to announce the year when the Lord will show his favor, the day when our God will seek vengeance, to console all who mourn,
The Lord says, “Because he is devoted to me, I will deliver him; I will protect him because he is loyal to me.When he calls out to me, I will answer him. I will be with him when he is in trouble; I will rescue him and bring him honor.
For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor heavenly rulers, nor things that are present, nor things to come, nor powers,nor height, nor depth, nor anything else in creation will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.
But in fact, if you happen to suffer for doing what is right, you are blessed. But do not be terrified of them or be shaken.
We wait for the Lord; he is our deliverer and shield.For our hearts rejoice in him, for we trust in his holy name.
that if our conscience condemns us, that God is greater than our conscience and knows all things.
He will surely give me shelter in the day of danger; he will hide me in his home; he will place me on an inaccessible rocky summit.
For I know what I have planned for you,’ says the Lord. ‘I have plans to prosper you, not to harm you. I have plans to give you a future filled with hope.
When I am afraid, I trust in you.In God – I boast in his promise – in God I trust, I am not afraid. What can mere men do to me?
Look, God is my deliverer! I will trust in him and not fear. For the Lord gives me strength and protects me; he has become my deliverer.”
Everyone whom the Father gives me will come to me, and the one who comes to me I will never send away.
The Lord strengthens and protects me; I trust in him with all my heart. I am rescued and my heart is full of joy; I will sing to him in gratitude.
Who will separate us from the love of Christ? Will trouble, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or danger, or sword?As it is written, “For your sake we encounter death all day long; we were considered as sheep to be slaughtered.”No, in all these things we have complete victory through him who loved us!
The Lord grants success to the one whose behavior he finds commendable.Even if he trips, he will not fall headlong, for the Lord holds his hand.
Now we do not want you to be uninformed, brothers and sisters, about those who are asleep, so that you will not grieve like the rest who have no hope.For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, so also we believe that God will bring with him those who have fallen asleep as Christians.
Can a woman forget her baby who nurses at her breast? Can she withhold compassion from the child she has borne? Even if mothers were to forget, I could never forget you!Look, I have inscribed your name on my palms; your walls are constantly before me.
And let us hold unwaveringly to the hope that we confess, for the one who made the promise is trustworthy.
For I am sure of this very thing, that the one who began a good work in you will perfect it until the day of Christ Jesus.
For the one who takes revenge against murderers took notice of the oppressed; he did not overlook their cry for help
The name of the Lord is like a strong tower; the righteous person runs to it and is set safely on high.
I love the Lord because he heard my plea for mercy,I had faith when I said, “I am severely oppressed.”I rashly declared, “All men are liars.”How can I repay the Lord for all his acts of kindness to me?I will celebrate my deliverance, and call on the name of the Lord.I will fulfill my vows to the Lord before all his people.The Lord values the lives of his faithful followers.Yes, Lord! I am indeed your servant; I am your lowest slave. You saved me from death.I will present a thank offering to you, and call on the name of the Lord.I will fulfill my vows to the Lord before all his people,in the courts of the Lord’s temple, in your midst, O Jerusalem. Praise the Lord!and listened to me. As long as I live, I will call to him when I need help.
Each of them will be like a shelter from the wind and a refuge from a rainstorm; like streams of water in a dry region and like the shade of a large cliff in a parched land.
By day the Lord decrees his loyal love, and by night he gives me a song, a prayer to the living God.
But God demonstrates his own love for us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
So then, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; what is old has passed away – look, what is new has come!
As for me, I will call out to God, and the Lord will deliver me.During the evening, morning, and noontime I will lament and moan, and he will hear me.
We have this hope as an anchor for the soul, sure and steadfast, which reaches inside behind the curtain,
For his anger lasts only a brief moment, and his good favor restores one’s life. One may experience sorrow during the night, but joy arrives in the morning.
I will be happy and rejoice in your faithfulness, because you notice my pain and you are aware of how distressed I am.
If we live, we live for the Lord; if we die, we die for the Lord. Therefore, whether we live or die, we are the Lord’s.
For I am the Lord your God, the one who takes hold of your right hand, who says to you, ‘Don’t be afraid, I am helping you.’
Surely your goodness and faithfulness will pursue me all my days, and I will live in the Lord’s house for the rest of my life.
In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness, for we do not know how we should pray, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with inexpressible groanings.
For you are my deliverer; under your wings I rejoice.My soul pursues you; your right hand upholds me.
Now to him who by the power that is working within us is able to do far beyond all that we ask or think,to him be the glory in the church and in Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever. Amen.
But you, Lord, are a shield that protects me; you are my glory and the one who restores me.
God is faithful, by whom you were called into fellowship with his son, Jesus Christ our Lord.
Then Jesus spoke out again, “I am the light of the world. The one who follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”
He gave me reason to sing a new song, praising our God. May many see what God has done, so that they might swear allegiance to him and trust in the Lord!
He says, “Stop your striving and recognize that I am God! I will be exalted over the nations! I will be exalted over the earth!”
But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people of his own, so that you may proclaim the virtues of the one who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light.
for the one bringing forth in you both the desire and the effort – for the sake of his good pleasure – is God.
He will shelter you with his wings; you will find safety under his wings. His faithfulness is like a shield or a protective wall.
Lord, be merciful to us! We wait for you. Give us strength each morning! Deliver us when distress comes.
Why are you depressed, O my soul? Why are you upset? Wait for God! For I will again give thanks to my God for his saving intervention.I am depressed, so I will pray to you while I am trapped here in the region of the upper Jordan, from Hermon, from Mount Mizar.
Now may the Lord of peace himself give you peace at all times and in every way. The Lord be with you all.
O God, you are my God! I long for you! For the joy set out for him he endured the cross, disregarding its shame, and has taken his seat at the right hand of the throne of God.For they could not bear what was commanded: “If even an animal touches the mountain, it must be stoned.”In fact, the scene was so terrifying that Moses said, “I shudder with fear.”But you have come to Mount Zion, the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, and to myriads of angels, to the assemblyand congregation of the firstborn, who are enrolled in heaven, and to God, the judge of all, and to the spirits of the righteous, who have been made perfect,and to Jesus, the mediator of a new covenant, and to the sprinkled blood that speaks of something better than Abel’s does.Take care not to refuse the one who is speaking! For if they did not escape when they refused the one who warned them on earth, how much less shall we, if we reject the one who warns from heaven?Then his voice shook the earth, but now he has promised, “I will once more shake not only the earth but heaven too.”Now this phrase “once more” indicates the removal of what is shaken, that is, of created things, so that what is unshaken may remain.So since we are receiving an unshakable kingdom, let us give thanks, and through this let us offer worship pleasing to God in devotion and awe.For our God is indeed a devouring fire.Think of him who endured such opposition against himself by sinners, so that you may not grow weary in your souls and give up.
Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is worthy of respect, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if something is excellent or praiseworthy, think about these things.And what you learned and received and heard and saw in me, do these things. And the God of peace will be with you.
And we have come to know and to believe the love that God has in us. God is love, and the one who resides in love resides in God, and God resides in him.
Now, this is what the Lord says, the one who created you, O Jacob, and formed you, O Israel: “Don’t be afraid, for I will protect you. I call you by name, you are mine.You are my witnesses,” says the Lord, “my servant whom I have chosen, so that you may consider and believe in me, and understand that I am he. No god was formed before me, and none will outlive me.I, I am the Lord, and there is no deliverer besides me.I decreed and delivered and proclaimed, and there was no other god among you. You are my witnesses,” says the Lord, “that I am God.From this day forward I am he; no one can deliver from my power; I will act, and who can prevent it?”This is what the Lord says, your protector, the Holy One of Israel: “For your sake I send to Babylon and make them all fugitives, turning the Babylonians’ joyful shouts into mourning songs.I am the Lord, your Holy One, the one who created Israel, your king.”This is what the Lord says, the one who made a road through the sea, a pathway through the surging waters,the one who led chariots and horses to destruction, together with a mighty army. The Lord says, “At that time young women will dance and be glad. Young men and old men will rejoice. I will turn their grief into gladness. I will give them comfort and joy in place of their sorrow.
The Lord is my high ridge, my stronghold, my deliverer. My God is my rocky summit where I take shelter, my shield, the horn that saves me, and my refuge.
For everything that was written in former times was written for our instruction, so that through endurance and through encouragement of the scriptures we may have hope.
And God is able to make all grace overflow to you so that because you have enough of everything in every way at all times, you will overflow in every good work.
O Lord, you examine me and know.even there your hand would guide me, your right hand would grab hold of me.If I were to say, “Certainly the darkness will cover me, and the light will turn to night all around me,”even the darkness is not too dark for you to see, and the night is as bright as day; darkness and light are the same to you.Certainly you made my mind and heart; you wove me together in my mother’s womb.I will give you thanks because your deeds are awesome and amazing. You knew me thoroughly;my bones were not hidden from you, when I was made in secret and sewed together in the depths of the earth.Your eyes saw me when I was inside the womb. All the days ordained for me were recorded in your scroll before one of them came into existence.How difficult it is for me to fathom your thoughts about me, O God! How vast is their sum total!If I tried to count them, they would outnumber the grains of sand. Even if I finished counting them, I would still have to contend with you.If only you would kill the wicked, O God! Get away from me, you violent men!You know when I sit down and when I get up; even from far away you understand my motives.They rebel against you and act deceitfully; your enemies lie.O Lord, do I not hate those who hate you, and despise those who oppose you?I absolutely hate them, they have become my enemies!Examine me, and probe my thoughts! Test me, and know my concerns!See if there is any idolatrous tendency in me, and lead me in the reliable ancient path!You carefully observe me when I travel or when I lie down to rest; you are aware of everything I do.
I am not saying this because I am in need, for I have learned to be content in any circumstance.I have experienced times of need and times of abundance. In any and every circumstance I have learned the secret of contentment, whether I go satisfied or hungry, have plenty or nothing.
You need not fear the terrors of the night, the arrow that flies by day,the plague that comes in the darkness, or the disease that comes at noon.
For this is what the master, the Lord, the Holy One of Israel says: “If you repented and patiently waited for me, you would be delivered; if you calmly trusted in me you would find strength, but you are unwilling.
In my distress I called to the Lord; I cried out to my God. From his heavenly temple he heard my voice; he listened to my cry for help.
Indeed, he who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all – how will he not also, along with him, freely give us all things?
You keep completely safe the people who maintain their faith, for they trust in you.Trust in the Lord from this time forward, even in Yah, the Lord, an enduring protector!
But may all who take shelter in you be happy! May they continually shout for joy! Shelter them so that those who are loyal to you may rejoice!Certainly you reward the godly, Lord. Like a shield you protect them in your good favor.
But I am continually with you; you hold my right hand.You guide me by your wise advice, and then you will lead me to a position of honor.Whom do I have in heaven but you? I desire no one but you on earth.My flesh and my heart may grow weak, but God always protects my heart and gives me stability.
Therefore encourage one another and build up each other, just as you are in fact doing.
Patiently wait for God alone, my soul! For he is the one who gives me confidence.He alone is my protector and deliverer. He is my refuge; I will not be upended.
For all who are led by the Spirit of God are the sons of God.For you did not receive the spirit of slavery leading again to fear, but you received the Spirit of adoption, by whom we cry, “Abba, Father.”
But he said to me, “My grace is enough for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” So then, I will boast most gladly about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may reside in me.
Have mercy on me, O God! Have mercy on me! For in you I have taken shelter. In the shadow of your wings I take shelter until trouble passes.
Then I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Advocate to be with you forever –the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot accept, because it does not see him or know him. But you know him, because he resides with you and will be in you.
Then you turned my lament into dancing; you removed my sackcloth and covered me with joy.So now my heart will sing to you and not be silent; O Lord my God, I will always give thanks to you.
Certainly the Lord watches the whole earth carefully and is ready to strengthen those who are devoted to him. You have acted foolishly in this matter; from now on you will have war.
“Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink, or about your body, what you will wear. Isn’t there more to life than food and more to the body than clothing?Look at the birds in the sky: They do not sow, or reap, or gather into barns, yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Aren’t you more valuable than they are?And which of you by worrying can add even one hour to his life?
Indeed you will go out with joy; you will be led along in peace; the mountains and hills will give a joyful shout before you, and all the trees in the field will clap their hands.
when they prayed: “Have mercy on me, Lord! See how I am oppressed by those who hate me, O one who can snatch me away from the gates of death!Then I will tell about all your praiseworthy acts; in the gates of Daughter Zion I will rejoice because of your deliverance.”
The one true God acts in a faithful manner; the Lord’s promise is reliable; he is a shield to all who take shelter in him.Indeed, who is God besides the Lord? Who is a protector besides our God?The one true God is my mighty refuge; he removes the obstacles in my way.
