Life can throw some real curveballs, like losing a job, grieving a loved one, going through a divorce, or dealing with mental health challenges. Sometimes, it feels like a storm raging inside, with waves crashing down, threatening to pull you under into the depths of despair. But remember, even in the midst of the storm, Jesus is right there with you in the boat.

You can always turn to God. His word can guide you, transform you, and restore you. As the Bible says, "All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work" (2 Timothy 3:16-17).

I want to encourage you to make the decision today to rise up. I know it’s not easy, but with God’s help, you can do it. Let go of the sadness and the gloom. Let the joy of the Holy Spirit fill your life.

Prayer

My wonderful God, each morning you show me your mercy and embrace me with your love. This day, I cry out to you, my God in heaven, because I know you're in control of my life, and you have promised never to leave me nor forsake me. Today, I ask you to free me from this depression I'm struggling with. Help me not to be controlled by my emotions, but let your Holy Spirit take control and reign over my life, so that I can cling to your word every single day. Strengthen me with the power of your love; clothe me in your armor. Let me have the courage to face depression and sadness, no matter how hard things get. Keep me from giving the enemy a foothold through negative thoughts, feelings of defeat, or suicidal ideation. I declare what your word says: "Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things." Lord, take every thought captive and make it obedient to you. Right now, I renounce every lie of the devil that has come against me to destroy me. In Jesus' name, Amen.
