You know, God sees right into our hearts. He knows when we're giving our best. He's not looking for perfection, but He loves it when we give cheerfully and not grudgingly. Think about it: when you give a gift with a happy heart, it just feels different, right?
Your offering should come from a willing heart, given justly, according to what you have. As the Bible says, "Each one must give as he has decided in his heart" (2 Corinthians 9:7). It's not about how much, but about the heart behind it.
The Bible teaches us that God wants us to give joyfully and generously, just like He does. He gives abundantly, "without finding fault" (James 1:5). Think about the sunshine and the rain – He gives those to everyone, right? Just like in Matthew 5:45, He sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous. That's true generosity.
So, when you give to God, think of it as a thank you for all He's given you. And don't forget about giving to others, too, following God's example. It's a way of acknowledging that everything we have ultimately belongs to Him.
When you give, trust in God's faithfulness and His promise to provide for all your needs. He's got you covered. More than the actual gift, He cares about the attitude behind it. He wants your offering to be obedient and freely given, according to His commandments, and accompanied by a merciful heart, full of the desire to glorify Him. God makes it clear that He's not pleased with offerings that are just going through the motions, you know, those traditional or ritualistic ones that lack a truly obedient and merciful heart, lacking the desire to glorify Him.
When the Box of the Agreement {\cf2\super [180]} arrived at the City of David, {\cf2\super [181]} Michal looked through a window. Michal was Saul’s daughter. She saw King David dancing and playing around. And she lost her respect for David—\{she thought he was being foolish\}.
Jesus sat near the temple money box {\cf2\super [178]} where people put their gifts. He watched the people put money in the box. Many rich people gave much money.Then a poor widow {\cf2\super [179]} came and gave two very small copper coins. These coins were not even worth a penny.Jesus called his followers to him. Jesus said, “I tell you the truth. This poor widow gave only two small coins. But she really gave more than all the rich people.Those people have plenty; they gave only what they did not need. This woman is very poor. But she gave all she had. And she needed that money to help her live.”
“So when you offer your gift to God, think about other people. If you are offering your gift before the altar, {\cf2\super [64]} and you remember that your brother has something against you,then leave your gift there at the altar. Go and make peace with that person. Then come and offer your gift.
“When you give to poor people, don’t announce that you are giving. Don’t do like the hypocrites {\cf2\super [73]} do. They blow trumpets before they give so that people will see them. They do that in the synagogues {\cf2\super [74]} and on the streets. They want other people to give honor to them. I tell you the truth. Those hypocrites already have their full reward.
Each person should give what he has decided in his heart to give. A person should not give if it makes him sad. And a person should not give if he thinks he is forced to give. God loves the person who gives happily.
Give to other people, and you will receive. You will be given much. It will be poured into your hands—more than you can hold. You will be given so much that it will spill into your lap. The way you give to other people is the way God will give to you.”

“Don’t save treasures for yourselves here on earth. Moths and rust will destroy treasures here on earth. And thieves can break into your house and steal the things you have.So save your treasure in heaven. The treasures in heaven cannot be destroyed by moths or rust. And thieves cannot break in and steal that treasure.Your heart will be where your treasure is.
A person who gives freely will profit. If you help others, then you will gain more for yourself.
Jesus answered, “If you want to be perfect, then go and sell all the things you own. Give the money to the poor people. If you do this, you will have a rich treasure in heaven. Then come and follow me!”
I may give everything I have to feed people. And I may even give my body \{as an offering\} to be burned. But I gain nothing by doing these things if I don’t have love.
He will make the Levites {\cf2\super [17]} clean. {\cf2\super [18]} He will make them pure, like silver is made pure—with fire! He will make them pure like gold and silver. Then they will bring gifts to the Lord—and they will do those things the right way.
Some of God’s people in Jerusalem are poor. And \{The believers in\} Macedonia and Achaia wanted to help those people. So they gathered some money to give them.
And God can give you more blessings than you need. Then you will always have plenty of everything. You will have enough to give to every good work.
An evil man quickly borrows money\par and never pays it back.\par But a good man gives freely to other people.\par
God is the One who gives seed to the person who plants. And he gives bread for food. And God will give you \{spiritual\} seed and make your seed grow. He will make a great harvest from your goodness (giving).
Remember this: The person who plants little will harvest only a little. But the person who plants much will harvest much.
Now \{I will write\} about the collection \{of money\} for God’s people. Do the same thing that I told the Galatian churches to do:On the first day of every week each one of you should save as much money as you can from what you are blessed with. You should put this money in a special place and keep it there. Then you will not have to gather your money after I come.
The Lord All-Powerful says, “Try this test. Bring one-tenth of your things to me. Put those things in the treasury. Bring food to my house. Test me! If you do those things, then I will truly bless you. Good things will come to you like rain falling from the sky. You will have more than enough of everything.
And don’t forget to do good for other people. And share with other people. These are the sacrifices that please God.
If a person gives freely, then he will gain even more. But if a person refuses to give, then he will become poor.
“When you offer a sacrifice [336] of fellowship offerings to the Lord, you must offer it in the right way so you will be accepted.
God will make you rich in every way so that you can always give freely. And your giving through us will make people give thanks to God.
Give to every person that asks you. When a person takes something that is yours, don’t ask for it back.
I have all the things I need. I have even more than I need. I have all I need because Epaphroditus brought your gift to me. Your gift is like a sweet-smelling sacrifice {\cf2\super [24]} offered to God. God accepts that sacrifice and it pleases him.
“Be careful! When you do good things, don’t do those things in front of people. Don’t do those things for people to see you. At harvest time, [25] Cain brought a gift to the Lord. Cain brought some of the food that he grew from the ground. But Abel brought some animals from his flock. Abel brought the best parts of his best sheep. [26]But the Lord did not accept Cain and his offering. Cain was sad because of this, and he became very angry.
Gather special gifts for the Lord. Each of you should decide in your heart what you will give. And then you should bring that gift to the Lord. Bring gold, silver, and bronze [356] ;
“If you want to offer some special offering of thanks to the Lord, then you are free to offer that gift. {But you must do it in a way that pleases God.}
Each man should give as much as he can. He should decide how much to give by thinking about how much the Lord has given him.
You don’t really want sacrifices. {\cf2\super [305]} \par So why should I give sacrifices\par that you don’t even want!\parThe sacrifice that God wants\par is an humble spirit. {\cf2\super [306]} \par God, you will not turn away a person\par who comes with an humble, submissive heart. {\cf2\super [307]} \par
Honor the Lord with your wealth. Give him the best you have.Then you will have all you need. Your barns will be full of grain and your barrels will be flowing over with wine.
All these things didn’t come\par from me and my people!\par All these things come from you.\par We are only giving back to you\par things that came from you.\par
Jesus saw some rich people putting their gifts for God into the temple money box. {\cf2\super [329]}Then Jesus saw a poor widow. {\cf2\super [330]} She put two small copper coins into the box.Jesus said, “I tell you the truth. So brothers and sisters, I beg you to do something. God has shown us great mercy. So offer your lives as a living sacrifice {\cf2\super [130]} to God. Your offering must be only for God and will be pleasing to him. This offering of yourselves is the spiritual way for you to worship (serve) God.
“Tell the people of Israel to bring me gifts. Each person must decide in his heart what he wants to give me. Accept these gifts for me.
You also are like living stones. God is using you to build a spiritual temple. {\cf2\super [14]} You are to serve God in that temple as holy {\cf2\super [15]} priests. You are to give spiritual sacrifices {\cf2\super [16]} to God that he will accept because of Jesus Christ.
People all around the country heard about this command. So the people of Israel gave the first part of their harvest of grain, grapes, oil, honey, and all the things they grew in their fields. They brought one tenth of all these many things.
A person might be sad\par when he plants the seeds,\par but he will be happy\par when he gathers the crops!\parHe might cry when he carries\par the seeds out to the field,\par but he will be happy\par when he brings the harvest in!\par \par \par
On the first day of every week each one of you should save as much money as you can from what you are blessed with. You should put this money in a special place and keep it there. Then you will not have to gather your money after I come.
If you want to give, then your gift will be accepted. Your gift will be judged by what you have, not by what you don’t have.
\{You are not like God\}—you are evil. But you know how to give good things to your children. So surely your heavenly Father will give good things to those people that ask him.
The Lord is God.\par And he accepts us.\par Tie up the lamb for the sacrifice {\cf2\super [583]} \par \{and carry it\} to the horns of the altar.” {\cf2\super [584]} \par
Don’t be fooled: You cannot cheat God. A person harvests only the things he plants. {\cf2\super [75]}If a person plants (lives) to satisfy his sinful self, then his sinful self will bring him eternal death. But if a person plants to please the Spirit, {\cf2\super [76]} he will get eternal life from the Spirit.We must not become tired of doing good. We will receive our harvest \{of eternal life\} at the right time. We must not give up!
Come into his city with songs of thanks.\par Come into his temple with songs of praise.\par Honor him and bless his name.\par
“I will tell you the kind of special day I want—a day to make people free. I want a day that you take the burdens off people. I want a day when you make the troubled people free. I want a day when you take the burdens from their shoulders.I want you to share your food with the hungry people. I want you to find poor people that don’t have homes, and I want you to bring them into your own homes. When you see a man that has no clothes—give him your clothes! Don’t hide \{from helping those people\}; they are just like you.”
Cain and Abel both offered sacrifices {\cf2\super [143]} to God. But Abel offered a better sacrifice to God because Abel had faith. God said he was pleased with the things Abel offered. And so God called Abel a good man because Abel had faith. Abel died, but through his faith he is still speaking.
Now I am going to Jerusalem to help God’s people.Some of God’s people in Jerusalem are poor. And \{The believers in\} Macedonia and Achaia wanted to help those people. So they gathered some money to give them.
Tell the rich people to do good. Tell them to be rich in doing good things. And tell them to be happy to give and ready to share.By doing that they will be saving a treasure for themselves \{in heaven\}. That treasure will be a strong foundation {\cf2\super [34]} —their future life can be built on that treasure. Then they will be able to have the life that is true life.
What can I give to the Lord?\par The Lord gave me everything I have!\parHe saved me,\par so I will give him a drink offering.\par And I will call on the Lord’s name.\parI will give the Lord the things I promised.\par I will go in front of all his people now.\par
Suppose a believer is rich enough to have all the things he needs. He sees his brother \{in Christ\} who is poor and does not have the things he needs. What if the believer who has things does not help the poor brother? Then the believer who has the things he needs does not have God’s love in his heart.My children, our love should not be only words and talk. No! Our love must be true love. We should show our love by the things we do.
Lord, my God, I will praise you forever,\par so there will never be silence,\par and there will always be someone\par singing songs to honor you.\par
So through Jesus we should never stop offering our sacrifice to God. That sacrifice is our praise, coming from lips that speak his name.
When some people have troubles\par they stop being proud.\par The Lord is close to those humble people.\par He will save them. {\cf2\super [211]} \parGood people might have many problems,\par but the Lord will save them\par from every one of their problems.\par
So this weak brother or sister is ruined because of your better understanding. And Christ died for this person.
take care of the group of people that you are responsible for. They are God’s flock. {\cf2\super [31]} Watch over that flock because you want to, not because you are forced to do it. That is how God wants it. Do it because you are happy to serve, not because you want money.Don’t be like a ruler over those people you are responsible for. But be good examples to those people.
The person that causes trouble for poor people shows that he does not respect God—God made both people. But if a person is kind to poor people, then he shows honor to God.
Everything good comes from God. And every perfect gift is from God. These good gifts come down from the Father who made all the lights in the sky (sun, moon, stars). But God never changes \{like those lights\}. He is always the same.
Give thanks \{to God\} at all times. That is what God wants for you in Christ Jesus.
