You know, God sees right into our hearts. He knows when we're giving our best. He's not looking for perfection, but He loves it when we give cheerfully and not grudgingly. Think about it: when you give a gift with a happy heart, it just feels different, right?
Your offering should come from a willing heart, given justly, according to what you have. As the Bible says, "Each one must give as he has decided in his heart" (2 Corinthians 9:7). It's not about how much, but about the heart behind it.
The Bible teaches us that God wants us to give joyfully and generously, just like He does. He gives abundantly, "without finding fault" (James 1:5). Think about the sunshine and the rain – He gives those to everyone, right? Just like in Matthew 5:45, He sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous. That's true generosity.
So, when you give to God, think of it as a thank you for all He's given you. And don't forget about giving to others, too, following God's example. It's a way of acknowledging that everything we have ultimately belongs to Him.
When you give, trust in God's faithfulness and His promise to provide for all your needs. He's got you covered. More than the actual gift, He cares about the attitude behind it. He wants your offering to be obedient and freely given, according to His commandments, and accompanied by a merciful heart, full of the desire to glorify Him. God makes it clear that He's not pleased with offerings that are just going through the motions, you know, those traditional or ritualistic ones that lack a truly obedient and merciful heart, lacking the desire to glorify Him.
and Abel also gave an offering to the Lord. He killed the first-born lamb from one of his sheep and gave the Lord the best parts of it. The Lord was pleased with Abel and his offering,
He is wonderful! Praise him and bring an offering into his temple. Worship the Lord, majestic and holy.
Jesus was sitting in the temple near the offering box and watching people put in their gifts. He noticed that many rich people were giving a lot of money. Finally, a poor widow came up and put in two coins worth only a few pennies.Jesus told his disciples to gather around him. Then he said: I tell you that this poor widow has put in more than all the others.Everyone else gave what they didn't need. But she is very poor and gave everything she had. Now she doesn't have a cent to live on.
So if you are about to place your gift on the altar and remember that someone is angry with you, leave your gift there in front of the altar. Make peace with that person, then come back and offer your gift to God.
When you give to the poor, don't blow a loud horn. That's what show-offs do in the synagogues and on the street corners, because they are always looking for praise. I can assure you that they already have their reward.
Each of you must make up your own mind about how much to give. But don't feel sorry that you must give and don't feel you are forced to give. God loves people who love to give.
If you give to others, you will be given a full amount in return. It will be packed down, shaken together, and spilling over into your lap. The way you treat others is the way you will be treated.
I pray that the Lord will listen when you are in trouble, and that the God of Jacob will keep you safe.May the Lord send help from his temple and come to your rescue from Mount Zion.May he remember your gifts and be pleased with what you bring.
Don't store up treasures on earth! Moths and rust can destroy them, and thieves can break in and steal them. When you give to the poor, don't blow a loud horn. That's what show-offs do in the synagogues and on the street corners, because they are always looking for praise. I can assure you that they already have their reward.Instead, store up your treasures in heaven, where moths and rust cannot destroy them, and thieves cannot break in and steal them.Your heart will always be where your treasure is.
Generosity will be rewarded: Give a cup of water, and you will receive a cup of water in return.
Jesus replied, “If you want to be perfect, go sell everything you own! Give the money to the poor, and you will have riches in heaven. Then come and be my follower.”
What if I gave away all that I owned and let myself be burned alive? I would gain nothing, unless I loved others.
The Lord will purify the descendants of Levi, as though they were gold or silver. Then they will bring the proper offerings to the Lord,
God can bless you with everything you need, and you will always have more than enough to do all kinds of good things for others.
An evil person borrows and never pays back; a good person is generous and never stops giving.
God gives seed to farmers and provides everyone with food. He will increase what you have, so you can give even more to those in need.
Remember this saying, “A few seeds make a small harvest, but a lot of seeds make a big harvest.”
When you collect money for God's people, I want you to do exactly what I told the churches in Galatia to do.When Timothy arrives, give him a friendly welcome. He is doing the Lord's work, just as I am.Don't let anyone mistreat him. I am looking for him to return to me together with the other followers. So when he leaves, send him off with your blessings.I have tried hard to get our friend Apollos to visit you with the other followers. He doesn't want to come just now, but he will come when he can.Keep alert. Be firm in your faith. Stay brave and strong.Show love in everything you do.You know that Stephanas and his family were the first in Achaia to have faith in the Lord. They have done all they can for God's people. My friends, I ask youto obey leaders like them and to do the same for all others who work hard with you.I was glad to see Stephanas and Fortunatus and Achaicus. Having them here was like having you. They made me feel much better, just as they made you feel better. You should appreciate people like them.Greetings from the churches in Asia. Aquila and Priscilla, together with the church that meets in their house, send greetings in the name of the Lord. That is, each Sunday each of you must put aside part of what you have earned. If you do this, you won't have to take up a collection when I come.
I am the Lord All-Powerful, and I challenge you to put me to the test. Bring the entire ten percent into the storehouse, so there will be food in my house. Then I will open the windows of heaven and flood you with blessing after blessing.
But don't forget to help others and to share your possessions with them. This too is like offering a sacrifice that pleases God.
You will be blessed in every way, and you will be able to keep on being generous. Then many people will thank God when we deliver your gift.
I have been paid back everything, and with interest. I am completely satisfied with the gifts you sent with Epaphroditus. They are like a sweet-smelling offering or like the right kind of sacrifice that pleases God.
When you do good deeds, don't try to show off. If you do, you won't get a reward from your Father in heaven. Come and set up your kingdom, so that everyone on earth will obey you, as you are obeyed in heaven.Give us our food for today. Forgive us for doing wrong, as we forgive others.Keep us from being tempted and protect us from evil. If you forgive others for the wrongs they do to you, your Father in heaven will forgive you.But if you don't forgive others, your Father will not forgive your sins. When you go without eating, don't try to look gloomy as those show-offs do when they go without eating. I can assure you that they already have their reward.Instead, comb your hair and wash your face. Then others won't know you are going without eating. But your Father sees what is done in private, and he will reward you.Don't store up treasures on earth! Moths and rust can destroy them, and thieves can break in and steal them. When you give to the poor, don't blow a loud horn. That's what show-offs do in the synagogues and on the street corners, because they are always looking for praise. I can assure you that they already have their reward.Instead, store up your treasures in heaven, where moths and rust cannot destroy them, and thieves cannot break in and steal them.Your heart will always be where your treasure is.Your eyes are a window for your body. When they are good, you have all the light you need. But when your eyes are bad, everything is dark. If the light inside you is dark, you surely are in the dark. You cannot be the slave of two masters! You will like one more than the other or be more loyal to one than the other. You cannot serve both God and money.I tell you not to worry about your life. Don't worry about having something to eat, drink, or wear. Isn't life more than food or clothing?Look at the birds in the sky! They don't plant or harvest. They don't even store grain in barns. Yet your Father in heaven takes care of them. Aren't you worth much more than birds? Can worry make you live longer? Why worry about clothes? Look how the wild flowers grow. They don't work hard to make their clothes. But I tell you that Solomon with all his wealth wasn't as well clothed as one of them. When you give to the poor, don't let anyone know about it.God gives such beauty to everything that grows in the fields, even though it is here today and thrown into a fire tomorrow. God will surely do even more for you! Why do you have such little faith?Don't worry and ask yourselves, “Will we have anything to eat? Will we have anything to drink? Will we have any clothes to wear?”Only people who don't know God are always worrying about such things. Your Father in heaven knows you need all of these. But more than anything else, put God's work first and do what he wants. Then the other things will be yours as well.Don't worry about tomorrow. It will take care of itself. You have enough to worry about today. Then your gift will be given in secret. Your Father knows what is done in secret and will reward you.
One day, Cain gave part of his harvest to the Lord, and Abel also gave an offering to the Lord. He killed the first-born lamb from one of his sheep and gave the Lord the best parts of it. The Lord was pleased with Abel and his offering, but not with Cain and his offering. This made Cain so angry that he could not hide his feelings.
I will welcome an offering from anyone who wants to give something. You may bring gold, silver, or bronze;
When you offer a sacrifice to give thanks to me, you must do it in a way that is acceptable.
I will bring a gift and offer a sacrifice to you, Lord. I will praise your name because you are good.
Offerings and sacrifices are not what you want. The way to please you is to be truly sorry deep in our hearts. This is the kind of sacrifice you won't refuse.
But why should we be happy that we have given you these gifts? They belong to you, and we have only given back what is already yours.
Jesus looked up and saw some rich people tossing their gifts into the offering box.Nations will go to war against one another, and kingdoms will attack each other. There will be great earthquakes, and in many places people will starve to death and suffer terrible diseases. All sorts of frightening things will be seen in the sky. Before all this happens, you will be arrested and punished. You will be tried in your synagogues and put in jail. Because of me you will be placed on trial before kings and governors. But this will be your chance to tell about your faith.Don't worry about what you will say to defend yourselves.I will give you the wisdom to know what to say. None of your enemies will be able to oppose you or to say that you are wrong. You will be betrayed by your own parents, brothers, family, and friends. Some of you will even be killed.Because of me, you will be hated by everyone. But don't worry! You will be saved by being faithful to me.He also saw a poor widow putting in a few cents. When you see Jerusalem surrounded by soldiers, you will know that it will soon be destroyed. If you are living in Judea at this time, run to the mountains. If you are in the city, leave it. And if you are out in the country, don't go back into the city. This time of punishment is what is written about in the Scriptures. It will be an awful time for women who are expecting babies or nursing young children! Everywhere in the land people will suffer horribly and be punished. Some of them will be killed by swords. Others will be carried off to foreign countries. Jerusalem will be overrun by foreign nations until their time comes to an end.Strange things will happen to the sun, moon, and stars. The nations on earth will be afraid of the roaring sea and tides, and they won't know what to do.People will be so frightened that they will faint because of what is happening to the world. Every power in the sky will be shaken. Then the Son of Man will be seen, coming in a cloud with power and great glory. When all of this starts happening, stand up straight and be brave. You will soon be set free. Then Jesus told them a story: When you see a fig tree or any other treeAnd he said, “I tell you that this poor woman has put in more than all the others.putting out leaves, you know that summer will soon come. So, when you see these things happening, you know that God's kingdom will soon be here. You can be sure that some of the people of this generation will still be alive when all of this takes place. The sky and the earth won't last forever, but my words will.Don't spend all of your time thinking about eating or drinking or worrying about life. If you do, the final day will suddenly catch youlike a trap. This day will surprise everyone on earth.Watch out and keep praying that you can escape all that is going to happen and that the Son of Man will be pleased with you.Jesus taught in the temple each day, and he spent each night on the Mount of Olives.Everyone got up early and came to the temple to hear him teach.Everyone else gave what they didn't need. But she is very poor and gave everything she had.”
Dear friends, God is good. So I beg you to offer your bodies to him as a living sacrifice, pure and pleasing. That's the most sensible way to serve God.
And now you are living stones being used to build a spiritual house. You are also a group of holy priests, and with the help of Jesus Christ you will offer sacrifices that please God.
As soon as the people heard what the king wanted, they brought a tenth of everything they owned, including their best grain, wine, olive oil, honey, and other crops.
We cried as we went out to plant our seeds. Now let us celebrate as we bring in the crops. We cried on the way to plant our seeds, but we will celebrate and shout as we bring in the crops.
That is, each Sunday each of you must put aside part of what you have earned. If you do this, you won't have to take up a collection when I come.
It doesn't matter how much you have. What matters is how much you are willing to give from what you have.
As bad as you are, you still know how to give good gifts to your children. But your heavenly Father is even more ready to give good things to people who ask.
The Lord is our God, and he has given us light! Start the celebration! March with palm branches all the way to the altar.
Do your work willingly, as though you were serving the Lord himself, and not just your earthly master. In fact, the Lord Christ is the one you are really serving, and you know he will reward you.
You cannot fool God, so don't make a fool of yourself! You will harvest what you plant. If you follow your selfish desires, you will harvest destruction, but if you follow the Spirit, you will harvest eternal life.Don't get tired of helping others. You will be rewarded when the time is right, if you don't give up.
I'll tell you what it really means to worship the Lord. Remove the chains of prisoners who are bound unjustly. Free those who are abused!Share your food with everyone who is hungry; share your home with the poor and homeless. Give clothes to those in need; don't turn away your relatives.
Because Abel had faith, he offered God a better sacrifice than Cain did. God was pleased with him and his gift, and even though Abel is now dead, his faith still speaks for him.
I am now on my way to Jerusalem to deliver the money that the Lord's followers in Macedonia and Achaia collected for God's needy people.
Instruct them to do as many good deeds as they can and to help everyone. Remind the rich to be generous and share what they have. This will lay a solid foundation for the future, so they will know what true life is like.
What must I give you, Lord, for being so good to me?I will pour out an offering of wine to you, and I will pray in your name because you have saved me.I will keep my promise to you when your people meet.
If we have all we need and see one of our own people in need, we must have pity on that person, or else we cannot say we love God.Children, you show love for others by truly helping them, and not merely by talking about it.
I thank you from my heart, and I will never stop singing your praises, my Lord and my God.
The Lord is there to rescue all who are discouraged and have given up hope. The Lord's people may suffer a lot, but he will always bring them safely through.
When we told the message to you, it was like planting spiritual seed. So we have the right to accept material things as our harvest from you.
Just as shepherds watch over their sheep, you must watch over everyone God has placed in your care. Do it willingly in order to please God, and not simply because you think you must. Let it be something you want to do, instead of something you do merely to make money.Don't be bossy to those people who are in your care, but set an example for them.
If you mistreat the poor, you insult your Creator; if you are kind to them, you show him respect.
Every good and perfect gift comes down from the Father who created all the lights in the heavens. He is always the same and never makes dark shadows by changing.
Whatever happens, keep thanking God because of Jesus Christ. This is what God wants you to do.
