Think about Job, how he'd offer sacrifices for his children, worried they might have sinned. He wanted to make things right with God. It's a powerful image, isn't it?
But here's the amazing thing: you don't have to do that anymore. Jesus' sacrifice covers everything. His blood has cleansed you, forgiven you. That's a gift worth more than anything, right?
So what can you do now? How can you show your gratitude? It's not about burnt offerings anymore. It's about living a life that honors God. It's about waking up each day and choosing to walk in His will, showing love and obedience in everything you do.
That's the kind of "offering" that truly matters. A genuine heart, filled with thankfulness, radiating His love – that's what God desires most. It's like a beautiful fragrance rising up to Him.
You've already been forgiven. You've confessed Jesus as your savior. Now, turn away from anything that pulls you from Him. Embrace the good, and live each day as a testament to His grace. Live a life worthy of the One who called you out of darkness and into His marvelous light. That’s the best gift you can give.
Each day you must offer a bull as a sacrifice, so that sin may be forgiven. This will purify the altar. Then anoint it with olive oil to make it holy.
Your life must be controlled by love, just as Christ loved us and gave his life for us as a sweet-smelling offering and sacrifice that pleases God.
And when you stand and pray, forgive anything you may have against anyone, so that your Father in heaven will forgive the wrongs you have done.”
Forgive us the wrongs we have done, as we forgive the wrongs that others have done to us.
If it is the High Priest who sins and so brings guilt on the people, he shall present a young bull without any defects and sacrifice it to the Lord for his sin.
then as soon as the sin becomes known, the community shall bring a young bull as a sin offering. They shall bring it to the Tent of the Lord's presence;
Then he shall take all its fat and burn it on the altar.to tell the people of Israel that anyone who sinned and broke any of the Lord's commands without intending to, would have to observe the following rules. He shall do the same thing with this bull as he does with the bull for the sin offering, and in this way he shall make the sacrifice for the people's sin, and they will be forgiven.
For by the blood of Christ we are set free, that is, our sins are forgiven. How great is the grace of God,which he gave to us in such large measure! In all his wisdom and insight
He shall do the same thing with this bull as he does with the bull for the sin offering, and in this way he shall make the sacrifice for the people's sin, and they will be forgiven.
So if you are about to offer your gift to God at the altar and there you remember that your brother has something against you, leave your gift there in front of the altar, go at once and make peace with your brother, and then come back and offer your gift to God.
“Tell the Israelites to make an offering to me. Receive whatever offerings anyone wishes to give.
So we are bringing the gold ornaments, armlets, bracelets, rings, earrings, and necklaces that each of us has taken. We offer them to the Lord as a payment for our lives, so that he will protect us.”
I ask you, is it right for a person to cheat God? Of course not, yet you are cheating me. ‘How?’ you ask. In the matter of tithes and offerings.
“Do not judge others, and God will not judge you; do not condemn others, and God will not condemn you; forgive others, and God will forgive you.
You should each give, then, as you have decided, not with regret or out of a sense of duty; for God loves the one who gives gladly.
Now take seven bulls and seven rams to Job and offer them as a sacrifice for yourselves. Job will pray for you, and I will answer his prayer and not disgrace you the way you deserve. You did not speak the truth about me as he did.”
All of you, my fellow Israelites, are to know for sure that it is through Jesus that the message about forgiveness of sins is preached to you; you are to know that everyone who believes in him is set free from all the sins from which the Law of Moses could not set you free.
“Make certain you do not perform your religious duties in public so that people will see what you do. If you do these things publicly, you will not have any reward from your Father in heaven. may your Kingdom come; may your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.Give us today the food we need. Forgive us the wrongs we have done, as we forgive the wrongs that others have done to us.Do not bring us to hard testing, but keep us safe from the Evil One.’ “If you forgive others the wrongs they have done to you, your Father in heaven will also forgive you.But if you do not forgive others, then your Father will not forgive the wrongs you have done.“And when you fast, do not put on a sad face as the hypocrites do. They neglect their appearance so that everyone will see that they are fasting. I assure you, they have already been paid in full. When you go without food, wash your face and comb your hair,so that others cannot know that you are fasting—only your Father, who is unseen, will know. And your Father, who sees what you do in private, will reward you.“Do not store up riches for yourselves here on earth, where moths and rust destroy, and robbers break in and steal.“So when you give something to a needy person, do not make a big show of it, as the hypocrites do in the houses of worship and on the streets. They do it so that people will praise them. I assure you, they have already been paid in full.Instead, store up riches for yourselves in heaven, where moths and rust cannot destroy, and robbers cannot break in and steal. For your heart will always be where your riches are.“The eyes are like a lamp for the body. If your eyes are sound, your whole body will be full of light;but if your eyes are no good, your body will be in darkness. So if the light in you is darkness, how terribly dark it will be!“You cannot be a slave of two masters; you will hate one and love the other; you will be loyal to one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money.“This is why I tell you: do not be worried about the food and drink you need in order to stay alive, or about clothes for your body. After all, isn't life worth more than food? And isn't the body worth more than clothes?Look at the birds: they do not plant seeds, gather a harvest and put it in barns; yet your Father in heaven takes care of them! Aren't you worth much more than birds? Can any of you live a bit longer by worrying about it? “And why worry about clothes? Look how the wild flowers grow: they do not work or make clothes for themselves. But I tell you that not even King Solomon with all his wealth had clothes as beautiful as one of these flowers. But when you help a needy person, do it in such a way that even your closest friend will not know about it.It is God who clothes the wild grass—grass that is here today and gone tomorrow, burned up in the oven. Won't he be all the more sure to clothe you? What little faith you have!“So do not start worrying: ‘Where will my food come from? or my drink? or my clothes?’(These are the things the pagans are always concerned about.) Your Father in heaven knows that you need all these things.Instead, be concerned above everything else with the Kingdom of God and with what he requires of you, and he will provide you with all these other things. So do not worry about tomorrow; it will have enough worries of its own. There is no need to add to the troubles each day brings. Then it will be a private matter. And your Father, who sees what you do in private, will reward you.
One tenth of all the produce of the land, whether grain or fruit, belongs to the Lord.
Praise the Lord's glorious name; bring an offering and come into his Temple. Bow down before the Holy One when he appears;
and then celebrate the Harvest Festival, to honor the Lord your God, by bringing him a freewill offering in proportion to the blessing he has given you.
“When you kill an animal for a fellowship offering, keep the regulations that I have given you, and I will accept the offering.
as he is able, in proportion to the blessings that the Lord your God has given him.
If you offer any animal that has any defects, the Lord will not accept it.When anyone presents a fellowship offering to the Lord, whether as fulfillment of a vow or as a freewill offering, the animal must be without any defects if it is to be accepted.
If any of his people in exile need help to return, their neighbors are to give them this help. They are to provide them with silver and gold, supplies and pack animals, as well as offerings to present in the Temple of God in Jerusalem.”
My sacrifice is a humble spirit, O God; you will not reject a humble and repentant heart.
Kore son of Imnah, a Levite who was chief guard at the East Gate of the Temple, was in charge of receiving the gifts offered to the Lord and of distributing them.
Come as living stones, and let yourselves be used in building the spiritual temple, where you will serve as holy priests to offer spiritual and acceptable sacrifices to God through Jesus Christ.
In this way you also will present the special contribution that belongs to the Lord from all the tithes which you receive from the Israelites. You are to give this special contribution for the Lord to Aaron the priest.
Give to others, and God will give to you. Indeed, you will receive a full measure, a generous helping, poured into your hands—all that you can hold. The measure you use for others is the one that God will use for you.”
The Lord hates it when wicked people offer him sacrifices, especially if they do it from evil motives.
“Yet my people and I cannot really give you anything, because everything is a gift from you, and we have only given back what is yours already.
Do not forget to do good and to help one another, because these are the sacrifices that please God.
“Do not store up riches for yourselves here on earth, where moths and rust destroy, and robbers break in and steal.“So when you give something to a needy person, do not make a big show of it, as the hypocrites do in the houses of worship and on the streets. They do it so that people will praise them. I assure you, they have already been paid in full.Instead, store up riches for yourselves in heaven, where moths and rust cannot destroy, and robbers cannot break in and steal. For your heart will always be where your riches are.
Do not deceive yourselves; no one makes a fool of God. You will reap exactly what you plant.
After some time Cain brought some of his harvest and gave it as an offering to the Lord. Then Abel brought the first lamb born to one of his sheep, killed it, and gave the best parts of it as an offering. The Lord was pleased with Abel and his offering,
Command those who are rich in the things of this life not to be proud, but to place their hope, not in such an uncertain thing as riches, but in God, who generously gives us everything for our enjoyment.Command them to do good, to be rich in good works, to be generous and ready to share with others. In this way they will store up for themselves a treasure which will be a solid foundation for the future. And then they will be able to win the life which is true life.
“To have good fruit you must have a healthy tree; if you have a poor tree, you will have bad fruit. A tree is known by the kind of fruit it bears. You snakes—how can you say good things when you are evil? For the mouth speaks what the heart is full of.A good person brings good things out of a treasure of good things; a bad person brings bad things out of a treasure of bad things.
and put all the gifts and tithes in them for safekeeping. They placed a Levite named Conaniah in charge and made his brother Shimei his assistant.
So then, my friends, because of God's great mercy to us I appeal to you: Offer yourselves as a living sacrifice to God, dedicated to his service and pleasing to him. This is the true worship that you should offer.
“If you forgive others the wrongs they have done to you, your Father in heaven will also forgive you.But if you do not forgive others, then your Father will not forgive the wrongs you have done.
He says, “Do you think I want all these sacrifices you keep offering to me? I have had more than enough of the sheep you burn as sacrifices and of the fat of your fine animals. I am tired of the blood of bulls and sheep and goats.Who asked you to bring me all this when you come to worship me? Who asked you to do all this tramping around in my Temple? It's useless to bring your offerings. I am disgusted with the smell of the incense you burn. I cannot stand your New Moon Festivals, your Sabbaths, and your religious gatherings; they are all corrupted by your sins.I hate your New Moon Festivals and holy days; they are a burden that I am tired of bearing.“When you lift your hands in prayer, I will not look at you. No matter how much you pray, I will not listen, for your hands are covered with blood.
Be tolerant with one another and forgive one another whenever any of you has a complaint against someone else. You must forgive one another just as the Lord has forgiven you.
Instead, be kind and tender-hearted to one another, and forgive one another, as God has forgiven you through Christ.
Jesus looked around and saw rich people dropping their gifts in the Temple treasury,He went on to say, “Countries will fight each other; kingdoms will attack one another. There will be terrible earthquakes, famines, and plagues everywhere; there will be strange and terrifying things coming from the sky. Before all these things take place, however, you will be arrested and persecuted; you will be handed over to be tried in synagogues and be put in prison; you will be brought before kings and rulers for my sake. This will be your chance to tell the Good News.Make up your minds ahead of time not to worry about how you will defend yourselves, because I will give you such words and wisdom that none of your enemies will be able to refute or contradict what you say.You will be handed over by your parents, your brothers, your relatives, and your friends; and some of you will be put to death.Everyone will hate you because of me.But not a single hair from your heads will be lost.Stand firm, and you will save yourselves.and he also saw a very poor widow dropping in two little copper coins.“When you see Jerusalem surrounded by armies, then you will know that it will soon be destroyed. Then those who are in Judea must run away to the hills; those who are in the city must leave, and those who are out in the country must not go into the city. For those will be ‘The Days of Punishment,’ to make come true all that the Scriptures say.How terrible it will be in those days for women who are pregnant and for mothers with little babies! Terrible distress will come upon this land, and God's punishment will fall on this people. Some will be killed by the sword, and others will be taken as prisoners to all countries; and the heathen will trample over Jerusalem until their time is up.“There will be strange things happening to the sun, the moon, and the stars. On earth whole countries will be in despair, afraid of the roar of the sea and the raging tides.People will faint from fear as they wait for what is coming over the whole earth, for the powers in space will be driven from their courses. Then the Son of Man will appear, coming in a cloud with great power and glory. When these things begin to happen, stand up and raise your heads, because your salvation is near.”Then Jesus told them this parable: “Think of the fig tree and all the other trees. He said, “I tell you that this poor widow put in more than all the others. When you see their leaves beginning to appear, you know that summer is near.In the same way, when you see these things happening, you will know that the Kingdom of God is about to come.“Remember that all these things will take place before the people now living have all died.Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away.“Be careful not to let yourselves become occupied with too much feasting and drinking and with the worries of this life, or that Day may suddenly catch youlike a trap. For it will come upon all people everywhere on earth.Be on watch and pray always that you will have the strength to go safely through all those things that will happen and to stand before the Son of Man.”Jesus spent those days teaching in the Temple, and when evening came, he would go out and spend the night on the Mount of Olives.Early each morning all the people went to the Temple to listen to him.For the others offered their gifts from what they had to spare of their riches; but she, poor as she is, gave all she had to live on.”
So watch what you do! “If your brother sins, rebuke him, and if he repents, forgive him. That is how it will be on the day the Son of Man is revealed.“On that day someone who is on the roof of a house must not go down into the house to get any belongings; in the same way anyone who is out in the field must not go back to the house.Remember Lot's wife! Those who try to save their own life will lose it; those who lose their life will save it.On that night, I tell you, there will be two people sleeping in the same bed: one will be taken away, the other will be left behind. Two women will be grinding meal together: one will be taken away, the other will be left behind.” The disciples asked him, “Where, Lord?” Jesus answered, “Wherever there is a dead body, the vultures will gather.”If he sins against you seven times in one day, and each time he comes to you saying, ‘I repent,’ you must forgive him.”
Then Peter came to Jesus and asked, “Lord, if my brother keeps on sinning against me, how many times do I have to forgive him? Seven times?” “No, not seven times,” answered Jesus, “but seventy times seven,
Bring the full amount of your tithes to the Temple, so that there will be plenty of food there. Put me to the test and you will see that I will open the windows of heaven and pour out on you in abundance all kinds of good things.
He does not punish us as we deserve or repay us according to our sins and wrongs. As high as the sky is above the earth, so great is his love for those who honor him.As far as the east is from the west, so far does he remove our sins from us.
If you make an altar of stone for me, do not build it out of cut stones, because when you use a chisel on stones, you make them unfit for my use.
Some people spend their money freely and still grow richer. Others are cautious, and yet grow poorer.Be generous, and you will be prosperous. Help others, and you will be helped.
The Lord says, “Now, let's settle the matter. You are stained red with sin, but I will wash you as clean as snow. Although your stains are deep red, you will be as white as wool.
But if we confess our sins to God, he will keep his promise and do what is right: he will forgive us our sins and purify us from all our wrongdoing.
If you kept a record of our sins, who could escape being condemned? But you forgive us, so that we should stand in awe of you.
Everything you do or say, then, should be done in the name of the Lord Jesus, as you give thanks through him to God the Father.
If you are eager to give, God will accept your gift on the basis of what you have to give, not on what you don't have.
But God has shown us how much he loves us—it was while we were still sinners that Christ died for us!
Jesus said, “Forgive them, Father! They don't know what they are doing.” They divided his clothes among themselves by throwing dice.
Here, then, is my receipt for everything you have given me—and it has been more than enough! I have all I need now that Epaphroditus has brought me all your gifts. They are like a sweet-smelling offering to God, a sacrifice which is acceptable and pleasing to him.
“Do for others what you want them to do for you: this is the meaning of the Law of Moses and of the teachings of the prophets.
For the churches in Macedonia and Achaia have freely decided to give an offering to help the poor among God's people in Jerusalem. That decision was their own; but, as a matter of fact, they have an obligation to help them. Since the Jews shared their spiritual blessings with the Gentiles, the Gentiles ought to use their material blessings to help the Jews.
Every Sunday each of you must put aside some money, in proportion to what you have earned, and save it up, so that there will be no need to collect money when I come.
I have shown you in all things that by working hard in this way we must help the weak, remembering the words that the Lord Jesus himself said, ‘There is more happiness in giving than in receiving.’”
Let us, then, always offer praise to God as our sacrifice through Jesus, which is the offering presented by lips that confess him as Lord.Do not forget to do good and to help one another, because these are the sacrifices that please God.
