In the Bible, offering is all about showing gratitude to God. Back in Moses' time, God taught the Israelites about different kinds of offerings. They were to offer a portion of their wealth as thanks for the land God had given them. These offerings were usually things like wheat, barley, oil, and animals – basically a tenth of their income, or what we call a tithe.
Leviticus talks about offerings required when someone was dishonest, maybe about something they were supposed to be looking after, or if they stole, cheated, lied about lost property, or broke an oath. There were five main types of offerings: burnt offerings, grain offerings, peace offerings, sin offerings, and guilt offerings.
Throughout the Bible, we see different ways to give offerings. Sometimes it's to make things right with someone you've wronged, and sometimes it's simply to say "thank you" to God and seek His blessing. The reasons and situations are all over the map, but what really matters to God is the heart behind the offering – a genuine desire to connect with Him.
Through him therefore, let us offer up a sacrifice of praise to God continually, that is, fruit of lips acknowledging his name.
The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit. A broken and contrite heart, O God, thou will not despise.
And when ye offer a sacrifice of peace-offerings to LORD, ye shall offer it that ye may be accepted.
Come to Bethel and transgress, to Gilgal [and] multiply transgression. And bring your sacrifices every morning, [and] your tithes every three days.
And Jacob rose up early in the morning, and took the stone that he had put under his head, and set it up for a pillar, and poured oil upon the top of it.And he called the name of that place Bethel, but the name of the city was Luz at first.And Jacob vowed a vow, saying, If God will be with me, and will keep me in this way that I go, and will give me bread to eat, and raiment to put on,so that I come again to my father's house in peace, and LORD will be my God,then this stone, which I have set up for a pillar, shall be God's house. Take heed to thyself that thou offer not thy burnt-offerings in every place that thou see,
And Noah built an altar to LORD, and took of every clean beast, and of every clean bird, and offered burnt offerings on the altar.And LORD smelled the sweet savor. And the priest shall burn the whole on the altar, for a burnt-offering, an offering made by fire, of a sweet savor to LORD.And if his oblation be of the flock, of the sheep, or of the goats, for a burnt-offering, he shall offer it a male without blemish.And he shall kill it on the side of the altar northward before LORD, and Aaron's sons, the priests, shall sprinkle its blood upon the altar round about.And he shall cut it into its pieces, with its head and its fat, and the priest shall lay them in order on the wood that is on the fire which is upon the altar,but the innards and the legs he shall wash with water. And every day thou shall offer the bullock of sin-offering for atonement. It is the food of the offering made by fire to LORD.And if his oblation be a goat, then he shall offer it before LORD.And he shall lay his hand upon the head of it, and kill it before the tent of meeting. All the fat is LORD's.It shall be a perpetual statute throughout your generations in all your dwellings, that ye shall eat neither fat nor blood.
And thou shall say to them, This is the offering made by fire which ye shall offer to LORD: he-lambs a year old without blemish, two day by day, for a continual burnt-offering.The one lamb thou shall offer in the morning, and the other lamb thou shall offer at evening,
The same day the king hallowed the middle of the court that was before the house of LORD, for there he offered the burnt-offering, and the meal-offering, and the fat of the peace-offerings, because the brazen altar that was before
Now when Solomon had made an end of praying, the fire came down from heaven, and consumed the burnt-offering and the sacrifices. And the glory of LORD filled the house.

Yet even if I am poured out a libation upon the sacrifice and service of your faith, I am glad and rejoice with you all.
But after going, learn what this means, I desire mercy, and not sacrifice, for I came not to call the righteous, but sinners for repentance.
But if ye had known what this means, I desire mercy and not sacrifice, ye would not have condemned the innocent.
I have been crucified with Christ, and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. And what I now live in flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God who loved me and gave himself up for me.
