64 Bible Verses about Bad Offering

64 Bible Verses about Bad Offering

When you choose to live without God, it's easy to lose that awareness of Him and start making choices that aren't aligned with His ways. Maybe you haven't truly encountered Him yet. Our hearts can be so deceitful, always looking for ways to satisfy our own twisted desires, driven by that inner restlessness.

The only way to live a righteous life is to keep God's word close to your heart and follow His will. That's how genuine goodness grows from deep within.

God isn't pleased when offerings are misused. They should be used to grow His work and spread the Gospel to everyone, fulfilling the command He gave us. Prayer is key to making sure your offerings are used the right way and that you're following God's leading.

Matthew 23:18-19

I am the Lord your God, who has separated you from other peoples. You shall therefore make distinction between the clean animal from the unclean, and the unclean fowl from the clean, and you shall not make yourselves detestable by animal, or by fowl, or by any manner of living thing that crawls on the ground, which I have separated from you as unclean.

Luke 21:1-4

He looked up and saw the rich putting their gifts in the treasury. Then He said to them, “Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom.Great earthquakes will occur in various places, and there will be famines and pestilence. And there will be terrors and great signs from heaven.“But before all these things, they will seize you and persecute you, delivering you up to the synagogues and prisons, and you will be brought before kings and rulers for My name’s sake.It will turn out as a testimony for you. Therefore resolve in your hearts beforehand not to practice your defense. For I will give you a mouth and wisdom, which all your opponents will be able to neither refute nor resist. You will be betrayed by parents and brothers and relatives and friends. And they will put some of you to death. You will be hated by all men for My name’s sake, but not a hair of your head shall perish. In your endurance you will gain your souls. He also saw a poor widow putting in two mites,“When you see Jerusalem surrounded by armies, then you know that its desolation has drawn near. Then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains, and let those who are in the city depart, and let not those who are in the country enter it.For these are the days of vengeance, that all things which are written may be fulfilled. But woe to those who are pregnant and to those who nurse in those days! For there will be great distress in the land and wrath upon this people. They will fall by the edge of the sword and will be led away captive to all nations. And Jerusalem will be trampled on by the Gentiles until the times of the Gentiles are fulfilled.“There will be signs in the sun and the moon and the stars; and on the earth distress of nations, with perplexity, the sea and the waves roaring;men fainting from fear and expectation of what is coming on the inhabited earth. For the powers of heaven will be shaken. Then they will see the Son of Man coming in a cloud with power and great glory. When these things begin to happen, look up and lift up your heads, for your redemption is drawing near.”He told them this parable: “Look at the fig tree, and all the trees.and He said, “Truly I tell you, this poor widow has put in more than all of them. When they are sprouting leaves already, you see and know for yourselves that summer is now near.So in like manner, when you see these things happening, you know that the kingdom of God is near.“Truly, I tell you, this generation will not pass away until all these things are fulfilled.Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will not pass away.“Take heed to yourselves, lest your hearts become burdened by excessiveness and drunkenness and anxieties of life, and that Day comes on you unexpectedly. For as a snare it will come on all those who dwell on the surface of the whole earth. Therefore watch always and pray that you may be counted worthy to escape all these things that will happen and to stand before the Son of Man.”Each day He was teaching in the temple, and each night He went out and stayed on the mountain called the Mount of Olives. And all the people came early in the morning to hear Him in the temple. For all these out of their abundance have put in their gifts for God. Matthew 6:1-4

“Be sure that you do not do your righteous deeds before men to be seen by them. Otherwise you have no reward from your Father who is in heaven.Your kingdom come; Your will be done on earth, as it is in heaven.Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one. For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen. For if you forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you.But if you do not forgive men for their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.“Moreover, when you fast, do not be like the hypocrites with a sad countenance. For they disfigure their faces so they may appear to men to be fasting. Truly I say to you, they have their reward. But you, when you fast, anoint your head and wash your face,so that you will not appear to men to be fasting, but to your Father who is in secret. And your Father who sees in secret will reward you openly.“Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal.“Therefore, when you do your charitable deeds, do not sound a trumpet before you as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may be honored by men. Truly I say to you, they have their reward. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroy and where thieves do not break in nor steal, for where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.“The light of the body is the eye. Therefore, if your eye is healthy, your whole body will be full of light. But if your eye is unhealthy, your whole body will be full of darkness. Therefore, if the light that is in you is darkness, how great is that darkness!“No one can serve two masters. For either he will hate the one and love the other, or else he will hold to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and money.“Therefore, I say to you, take no thought about your life, what you will eat, or what you will drink, nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food and the body than clothing?Look at the birds of the air, for they do not sow, nor do they reap, nor gather into barns. Yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much better than they?Who among you by taking thought can add one cubit to his stature?“Why take thought about clothing? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow. They neither spin nor weave.Yet I say to you that even Solomon in all his glory was not dressed like one of these. But when you do your charitable deeds, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing,Therefore, if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today is here and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, will He not much more clothe you, O you of little faith? Therefore, take no thought, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’For the Gentiles seek after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be given to you. Therefore, take no thought about tomorrow, for tomorrow will take thought about the things of itself. Sufficient to the day is the trouble thereof.so that your righteous deeds may be in secret. And your Father who sees in secret will Himself reward you openly.

Ecclesiastes 5:1-2

Guard your steps when you enter the house of God. Drawing near to obey is better than the sacrifice of fools, because they do not know that they are committing evil. The one who loves silver will not be satisfied with silver; the one who loves money desires revenues in abundance. This also is vanity. When there is an increase of good things, there is an increase of those who devour them. And what profit is there to the one who owns good things, except to see them with his eyes?Sweet is the sleep of one who works hard, whether he eats little or much; but due to the excess of the rich, there will be no sleep for him. There is a grave misery that I have observed under the sun: when riches were kept by an owner to his hurt, and those riches were lost in an unfortunate business deal; and although he has a son, there is nothing left to put in his hand.As he came from his mother’s womb, naked he will depart, as he came; he will not take anything for his labor, which he may carry away with his hands. And this also is a grave misery: As he entered, so will he leave; what benefit is there to the one who toils for the wind? Moreover, in all his days he eats in darkness, while he is greatly irritated in sickness and anger. This is what I have observed to be good and pleasing: to eat and drink and see benefit in all one’s labor with which he toils under the sun the few days of his life, which God has given to him, for this is his reward.Likewise, everyone to whom God has given wealth and possessions, and the ability to eat from it, and to receive his reward and to rejoice in his labor—this is a gift from God.Do not be quick to speak with your mouth, or be hasty to utter a word before God with your heart. For God is in heaven, and you are on the earth; therefore may your words be few.

Acts 5:1-4

Now a man named Ananias, with his wife Sapphira, sold a piece of property. At once she fell down at his feet and died. Upon entering, the young men found her dead and carried her out and buried her beside her husband.Great fear came on the entire church and on all those who heard these things. Many signs and wonders were performed among the people by the hands of the apostles. And they were all together in Solomon’s Porch. No one else dared join them, but the people respected them.Believers were increasingly added to the Lord, crowds of both men and women,so that they even brought the sick out into the streets and placed them on beds and mats, that at least the shadow of Peter passing by might touch some of them.Crowds also came out of the cities surrounding Jerusalem, bringing the sick and those who were afflicted by evil spirits, and they were all healed. Then the high priest and all those who were with him (that is, the sect of the Sadducees) rose up and were filled with jealousy. They seized the apostles and put them in the common prison. But during the night an angel of the Lord opened the prison doors and led them out, and said,He kept back part of the proceeds with his wife’s knowledge, and brought a part of it and placed it at the apostles’ feet.“Go, stand and speak in the temple to the people all the words of this life.”Having heard this, they entered the temple at dawn and taught. But the high priest and those who were with him came and called together the Sanhedrin and the senate of all the Israelites, and sent to the prison to have them brought out.But when the officers came and did not find them in the prison, they returned and reported,“We found the prison securely shut and the guards standing outside before the doors. But when we opened it, we found no one inside.”Now when the high priest, the captain of the temple, and the chief priests heard these things, they were in doubt of what might become of this. Then one came and told them, “Look, the men whom you put in prison are standing in the temple and teaching the people.”Then the captain with his escorts went and brought them, without force lest they should be stoned, for they feared the people. When they had brought them, they stood them before the Sanhedrin. And the high priest questioned them, saying, “Did we not strictly command you not to teach in this name? Yet now you have filled Jerusalem with your teaching, and you intend to bring on us this Man’s blood.”Peter and the other apostles answered, “We must obey God rather than men. Then Peter said, “Ananias, why has Satan filled your heart to deceive the Holy Spirit and keep back part of the proceeds of the land? The God of our fathers raised Jesus, whom you killed by hanging on a tree.God exalted this Man to His right hand to be a Ruler and a Savior, to give repentance to Israel and forgiveness of sins.We are His witnesses to these words, as is the Holy Spirit whom God has given to those who obey Him.”When they heard this, they were cut to the heart with rage and took counsel to kill them. But a Pharisee in the Sanhedrin named Gamaliel, a teacher of the law honored by all the people, stood and ordered the apostles to be put outside for a little while. Then he said to them, “Men of Israel, take heed to yourselves what you intend to do concerning these men.For in previous days Theudas rose up, boasting to be somebody, to whom a number of about four hundred men joined themselves. He was killed, and all who obeyed him were dispersed and came to nothing. After Theudas, Judas the Galilean rose up in the days of the census and drew away many people after him. This man also perished, and all who obeyed him were scattered. Now I tell you, keep away from these men and leave them alone, because if this intention or this activity is of men, it will come to nothing. But if it is of God, you will not be able to overthrow them, lest perhaps you be found even fighting against God.”While it remained unsold, was it not your own? And when it was sold, was it not under your authority? Why have you conceived this deed in your heart? You did not lie to men, but to God.”

Prayer

Dear Heavenly Father, all glory and honor to You. In Jesus' name, I come before You acknowledging that You are the Owner and Creator of everything. You've entrusted me to be a steward of my family, health, job, possessions, and finances, and I don't want to misuse what is Yours. Lord, please help me to be a good steward and faithful in my tithes and offerings. Help me to always remember that a tenth of everything I receive isn't mine, but Yours. Father, I don't want to fail You, or be a thief, or be under a curse for stealing what belongs to You. Teach me to have a grateful heart and to give my tithes and offerings freely and thankfully for all I've received from Your hand. In Jesus' name, Amen.
