When you choose to live without God, it's easy to lose that awareness of Him and start making choices that aren't aligned with His ways. Maybe you haven't truly encountered Him yet. Our hearts can be so deceitful, always looking for ways to satisfy our own twisted desires, driven by that inner restlessness.
The only way to live a righteous life is to keep God's word close to your heart and follow His will. That's how genuine goodness grows from deep within.
God isn't pleased when offerings are misused. They should be used to grow His work and spread the Gospel to everyone, fulfilling the command He gave us. Prayer is key to making sure your offerings are used the right way and that you're following God's leading.
And whosoeuer shall sweare by the Altar, it is nothing: but whosoeuer sweareth by the gift that is vpon it, he is guiltie.Ye fooles and blind: for whether is greater, the gift, or the Altar that sanctifieth the gift?
And ye shall not walke in the maners of the nation, which I cast out before you: for they committed all these things, & therefore I abhorred them.But I haue said vnto you, Yee shall inherit their land, and I will giue it vnto you, to possesse it, a land that floweth with milke and hony: I am the Lord your God, which haue separated you from other people.Ye shall therefore put difference betweene cleane beasts, and vncleane, and betweene vncleane foules, and cleane: & ye shall not make your soules abominable by beast or by foule, or by any maner of liuing thing, that creepeth on the ground, which I haue separated from you as vncleane.
Thou shalt not sacrifice vnto the Lord thy God any bullocke, or sheepe wherein is blemish, or any euilfauourednes: for that is an abomination vnto the Lord thy God.
And he spake this parable vnto certaine which trusted in themselues that they were righteous, & despised other:Two men went vp into the Temple to pray, the one a Pharisee, and the other a Publicane.The Pharisee stood and prayed thus with himselfe, God, I thank thee, that I am not as other men are, extortioners, vniust, adulterers, or euen as this Publicane.I fast twise in the weeke, I giue tithes of all that I possesse.And the Publicane standing afarre off, would not lift vp so much as his eyes vnto heauen: but smote vpon his breast, saying, God me mercifull to mee a sinner.I tell you, this man went downe to his house iustified rather then the other: For euery one that exalteth himselfe, shall be abased: and hee that humbleth himselfe, shall be exalted.
Euerie man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him giue; not grudgingly, or of necessitie: for God loueth a cheerefull giuer.
Wil a man rob God? yet ye haue robbed me. But ye say, Wherein haue we robbed thee? In tithes & offerings.
Therefore if thou bring thy gift to the altar, and there remembrest that thy brother hath ought against thee:Leaue there thy gift before the altar, and goe thy way, first be reconciled to thy brother, and then come and offer thy gift.
For all these haue of their abundance cast in vnto the offerings of God, but shee of her penurie hath cast in all the liuing that she had.
And Abel, he also brought of the firstlings of his flocke, and of the fat thereof: and the LORD had respect vnto Abel, and to his offering.But vnto Cain, and to his offring he had not respect: and Cain was very wroth, and his countenance fell.
A sonne honoureth his father, and a seruant his Master. If then I be a father, where is mine honour? and if I be a Master, where is my feare, saith the Lord of hostes, vnto you O priests, that despise my name? and yee say, Wherein haue we despised thy name?Yee offer polluted bread vpon mine altar; and yee say, Wherein haue we polluted thee? In that yee say, The table of the Lord is contemptible.And if hee offer the blind for sacrifice, is it not euill? and if yee offer the lame and sicke, is it not euill? offer it now vnto thy gouernour: will he be pleased with thee, or accept thy person, saith the Lord of hostes?

And Samuel saide, Hath the Lord as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices, as in obeying the voice of the Lord ? Behold, to obey, is better then sacrifice: and to hearken, then the fat of rammes.
The sacrifice of the wicked is abomination: how much more, when he bringeth it with a wicked minde?
Your lambe shall be without blemish, a male of the first yeere: yee shall take it out from the sheepe or from the goates.
Ye shall offer them besides the continuall burnt offering, and his meat offering, (they shall be vnto you without blemish) and their drinke offerings.
To what purpose is the multitude of your sacrifices vnto me, sayth the Lord? I am full of the burnt offerings of rammes, and the fat of fedde beasts, and I delight not in the blood of bullockes, or of lambes, or of hee goates.When ye come to appeare before mee, who hath required this at your hand, to tread my courts?Bring no more vaine oblations, incense is an abomination vnto me: the new Moones, and Sabbaths, the calling of assemblies I cannot away with; it is iniquitie, euen the solemne meeting.
Thus saith the Lord God, Let it suffice you, O princes of Israel: remoue violence and spoile, and execute iudgement and iustice, take away your exactions from my people, saith the Lord God.Ye shall haue iust ballances, and a iust Ephah, and a iust Bath.
And he looked vp, and saw the rich men casting their giftes into the treasurie.And hee saw also a certaine poore widow, casting in thither two mites.And he said, Of a truth, I say vnto you, that this poore widow hath cast in more then they all.For all these haue of their abundance cast in vnto the offerings of God, but shee of her penurie hath cast in all the liuing that she had.
Wherefore the Lord said, Forasmuch as this people draw neere mee with their mouth, and with their lips doe honour me, but haue remoued their heart farre from me, and their feare towards mee is taught by the precept of men:
To what purpose cometh there to me incense from Sheba? and the sweet cane from a farre countrey? your burnt offerings are not acceptable, nor your sacrifices sweet vnto me.
This people draweth nigh vnto mee with their mouth, and honoureth mee with their lips: but their heart is farre from me.But in vaine they do worship me, teaching for doctrines, the commandements of men.
But to doe good, and to communicate forget not, for with such sacrifices God is well pleased.
I hate, I despise your feast dayes, and I will not smell in your solemne assemblies.Though ye offer me burnt offerings, and your meat offerings, I will not accept them: neither will I regard the peace offerings of your fat beasts.Take thou away from mee the noise of thy songs: for I will not heare the melodie of thy violes.
The sacrifice of the wicked is an abomination to the Lord: but the prayer of the vpright is his delight.
Wherewith shall I come before the Lord, and bow my selfe before the high God? Shall I come before him with burnt offerings, with calues of a yeere olde?Will the Lord be pleased with thousands of rammes, or with tenne thousands of riuers of oyle? Shall I giue my first borne for my transgression, the fruit of my body for the sinne of my soule?Hee hath shewed thee, O man, what is good; and what doeth the Lord require of thee, but to do iustly, and to loue mercy, and to walke humbly with thy God?
Take heed that yee doe not your almes before men, to bee seene of them: otherwise yee haue no reward of your father which is in heauen.Therefore, when thou doest thine almes, doe not sound a trumpet before thee, as the hypocrites doe, in the Synagogues, and in the streetes, that they may haue glory of men. Uerily, I say vnto you, they haue their reward.But when thou doest almes, let not thy left hand know, what thy right doeth:That thine almes may be in secret: And thy father which seeth in secret, himselfe shall reward thee openly.
For thou desirest not sacrifice: else would I giue it: thou delightest not in burnt offering.The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit: a broken and a contrite heart, O God, thou wilt not despise.
Woe vnto you Scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites; for yee pay tithe of mint, and annise, and cummine, and haue omitted the weightier matters of the Law, iudgement, mercie and faith: these ought ye to haue done, and not to leaue the other vndone.
Take ye from amongst you an offring vnto the Lord: Whosoeuer is of a willing heart, let him bring it, an offering of the Lord, gold, and siluer, and brasse,
And Iesus sate ouer against the treasurie, and beheld how the people cast money into the treasurie: and many that were rich, cast in much.And there came a certaine poore widow, and she threw in two mites, which make a farthing.And he called vnto him his disciples, and saith vnto them, Uerily I say vnto you, that this poore widow hath cast more in, then all they which haue cast into the treasurie.For all they did cast in of their aboundance: but she of her want, did cast in all that she had, euen all her liuing.
Ye also as liuely stones, are built vp a spirituall house, an holy Priesthood to offer vp spirituall sacrifice, acceptable to God by Iesus Christ.
[A Psalme of Dauid.] Iudge me, O Lord, for I haue walked in mine integritie: I haue trusted also in the Lord: therfore I shall not slide.Examine me, O Lord, and proue me; try my reines and my heart.
And though I bestowe all my goods to feede the poore, and though I giue my body to bee burned, and haue not charitie, it profiteth me nothing.
I beseech you therefore brethren, by the mercies of God, that yee present your bodies a liuing sacrifice, holy, acceptable vnto God, which is your reasonable seruice.

Be not deceiued, God is not mocked: for whatsoeuer a man soweth, that shall he also reape.For hee that soweth to his flesh, shall of the flesh reape corruption: but he that soweth to the spirit, shall of the spirit reape life euerlasting.
For the loue of money is the root of all euill, which while some coueted after, they haue erred from the faith, and pierced themselues through with many sorrowes.
For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that yee cannot doe the things that yee would.
Kepe thy foote when thou goest to the house of God, and be more ready to heare, then to giue the sacrifice of fooles: for they consider not that they doe euill.Be not rash with thy mouth, and let not thine heart be hasty to vtter any thing before God: for God is in heauen, and thou vpon earth: therefore let thy words be few.
Who shall ascend into the hill of the Lord? and who shall stand in his holy place?He that hath cleane hands, and a pure heart; who hath not lift vp his soule vnto vanitie, nor sworne deceitfully.

Or he that exhorteth, on exhortation: he that giueth, let him doe it with simplicitie: hee that ruleth, with diligence: hee that sheweth mercy, with cheerefulnesse.
For if there bee first a willing minde, it is accepted according to that a man hath, and not according to that he hath not.For I meane not that other men bee eased, and you burthened:But by an equalitie: that now at this time your abundance may be a supply for their want, that their abundance also may be a supply for your want, that there may be equalitie,As it is written, Hee that had gathered much, had nothing ouer, and hee that had gathered little, had no lacke.
But a certaine man named Ananias, with Sapphira his wife, solde a possession,And kept backe part of the price, his wife also being priuy to it, and brought a certaine part, and layd it at the Apostles feete.But Peter said, Ananias, Why hath Satan filled thine heart to lie to the holy Ghost, and to keepe backe part of the price of the land?Whiles it remained, was it not thine owne? and after it was sold, was it not in thine owne power? why hast thou conceiued this thing in thine heart? thou hast not lied vnto men, but vnto God.
Not euery one that saith vnto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdome of heauen: but he that doth the will of my father which is in heauen.
And he said vnto them, Take heed and beware of couetousnes: for a mans life consisteth not in the abundance of the things which he possesseth.
By faith Abel offered vnto God a more excellent sacrifice then Kain, by which he obtained witnes that he was righteous, God testifying of his gifts: and by it he being dead, yet speaketh.
Upon the first day of the weeke, let euery one of you lay by him in store, as God hath prospered him, that there be no gatherings when I come.
For as many as are of the works of the lawe, are vnder the curse: for it is written, Cursed is euery one that continueth not in all things which are written in the booke of the Law to doe them.
Incline my heart vnto thy testimonies: and not to couetousnesse.Turne away mine eyes from beholding vanitie: and quicken thou me in thy way.

Charge them that are rich in this world, that they bee not high minded, nor trust in vncertaine riches, but in the liuing God, who giueth vs richly all things to enioy,That they doe good, that they be rich in good works, ready to distribute, willing to communicate,Laying vp in store for themselues a good foundation against the time to come, that they may lay holde on eternall life.
