64 Bible Verses about Bad Offering

64 Bible Verses about Bad Offering

When you choose to live without God, it's easy to lose that awareness of Him and start making choices that aren't aligned with His ways. Maybe you haven't truly encountered Him yet. Our hearts can be so deceitful, always looking for ways to satisfy our own twisted desires, driven by that inner restlessness.

The only way to live a righteous life is to keep God's word close to your heart and follow His will. That's how genuine goodness grows from deep within.

God isn't pleased when offerings are misused. They should be used to grow His work and spread the Gospel to everyone, fulfilling the command He gave us. Prayer is key to making sure your offerings are used the right way and that you're following God's leading.

Matthew 23:18-19

Do not eat unclean animals or birds. I have declared them unclean, and eating them would make you unclean.

Luke 21:1-4

Jesus looked around and saw rich people dropping their gifts in the Temple treasury,He went on to say, “Countries will fight each other; kingdoms will attack one another. There will be terrible earthquakes, famines, and plagues everywhere; there will be strange and terrifying things coming from the sky. Before all these things take place, however, you will be arrested and persecuted; you will be handed over to be tried in synagogues and be put in prison; you will be brought before kings and rulers for my sake. This will be your chance to tell the Good News.Make up your minds ahead of time not to worry about how you will defend yourselves, because I will give you such words and wisdom that none of your enemies will be able to refute or contradict what you say.You will be handed over by your parents, your brothers, your relatives, and your friends; and some of you will be put to death.Everyone will hate you because of me.But not a single hair from your heads will be lost.Stand firm, and you will save yourselves.and he also saw a very poor widow dropping in two little copper coins.“When you see Jerusalem surrounded by armies, then you will know that it will soon be destroyed. Then those who are in Judea must run away to the hills; those who are in the city must leave, and those who are out in the country must not go into the city. For those will be ‘The Days of Punishment,’ to make come true all that the Scriptures say.How terrible it will be in those days for women who are pregnant and for mothers with little babies! Terrible distress will come upon this land, and God's punishment will fall on this people. Some will be killed by the sword, and others will be taken as prisoners to all countries; and the heathen will trample over Jerusalem until their time is up.“There will be strange things happening to the sun, the moon, and the stars. On earth whole countries will be in despair, afraid of the roar of the sea and the raging tides.People will faint from fear as they wait for what is coming over the whole earth, for the powers in space will be driven from their courses. Then the Son of Man will appear, coming in a cloud with great power and glory. When these things begin to happen, stand up and raise your heads, because your salvation is near.”Then Jesus told them this parable: “Think of the fig tree and all the other trees. He said, “I tell you that this poor widow put in more than all the others. When you see their leaves beginning to appear, you know that summer is near.In the same way, when you see these things happening, you will know that the Kingdom of God is about to come.“Remember that all these things will take place before the people now living have all died.Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away.“Be careful not to let yourselves become occupied with too much feasting and drinking and with the worries of this life, or that Day may suddenly catch youlike a trap. For it will come upon all people everywhere on earth.Be on watch and pray always that you will have the strength to go safely through all those things that will happen and to stand before the Son of Man.”Jesus spent those days teaching in the Temple, and when evening came, he would go out and spend the night on the Mount of Olives.Early each morning all the people went to the Temple to listen to him.For the others offered their gifts from what they had to spare of their riches; but she, poor as she is, gave all she had to live on.”

Matthew 6:1-4

“Make certain you do not perform your religious duties in public so that people will see what you do. If you do these things publicly, you will not have any reward from your Father in heaven. may your Kingdom come; may your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.Give us today the food we need. Forgive us the wrongs we have done, as we forgive the wrongs that others have done to us.Do not bring us to hard testing, but keep us safe from the Evil One.’ “If you forgive others the wrongs they have done to you, your Father in heaven will also forgive you.But if you do not forgive others, then your Father will not forgive the wrongs you have done.“And when you fast, do not put on a sad face as the hypocrites do. They neglect their appearance so that everyone will see that they are fasting. I assure you, they have already been paid in full. When you go without food, wash your face and comb your hair,so that others cannot know that you are fasting—only your Father, who is unseen, will know. And your Father, who sees what you do in private, will reward you.“Do not store up riches for yourselves here on earth, where moths and rust destroy, and robbers break in and steal.“So when you give something to a needy person, do not make a big show of it, as the hypocrites do in the houses of worship and on the streets. They do it so that people will praise them. I assure you, they have already been paid in full.Instead, store up riches for yourselves in heaven, where moths and rust cannot destroy, and robbers cannot break in and steal. For your heart will always be where your riches are.“The eyes are like a lamp for the body. If your eyes are sound, your whole body will be full of light;but if your eyes are no good, your body will be in darkness. So if the light in you is darkness, how terribly dark it will be!“You cannot be a slave of two masters; you will hate one and love the other; you will be loyal to one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money.“This is why I tell you: do not be worried about the food and drink you need in order to stay alive, or about clothes for your body. After all, isn't life worth more than food? And isn't the body worth more than clothes?Look at the birds: they do not plant seeds, gather a harvest and put it in barns; yet your Father in heaven takes care of them! Aren't you worth much more than birds? Can any of you live a bit longer by worrying about it? “And why worry about clothes? Look how the wild flowers grow: they do not work or make clothes for themselves. But I tell you that not even King Solomon with all his wealth had clothes as beautiful as one of these flowers. But when you help a needy person, do it in such a way that even your closest friend will not know about it.It is God who clothes the wild grass—grass that is here today and gone tomorrow, burned up in the oven. Won't he be all the more sure to clothe you? What little faith you have!“So do not start worrying: ‘Where will my food come from? or my drink? or my clothes?’(These are the things the pagans are always concerned about.) Your Father in heaven knows that you need all these things.Instead, be concerned above everything else with the Kingdom of God and with what he requires of you, and he will provide you with all these other things. So do not worry about tomorrow; it will have enough worries of its own. There is no need to add to the troubles each day brings. Then it will be a private matter. And your Father, who sees what you do in private, will reward you.

Ecclesiastes 5:1-2

Be careful about going to the Temple. It is better to go there to learn than to offer sacrifices like foolish people who don't know right from wrong. If you love money, you will never be satisfied; if you long to be rich, you will never get all you want. It is useless. The richer you are, the more mouths you have to feed. All you gain is the knowledge that you are rich.Workers may or may not have enough to eat, but at least they can get a good night's sleep. The rich, however, have so much that they stay awake worrying. Here is a terrible thing that I have seen in this world: people save up their money for a time when they may need it,and then lose it all in some bad deal and end up with nothing left to pass on to their children. We leave this world just as we entered it—with nothing. In spite of all our work there is nothing we can take with us.It isn't right! We go just as we came. We labor, trying to catch the wind, and what do we get?We get to live our lives in darkness and grief, worried, angry, and sick. Here is what I have found out: the best thing we can do is eat and drink and enjoy what we have worked for during the short life that God has given us; this is our fate.If God gives us wealth and property and lets us enjoy them, we should be grateful and enjoy what we have worked for. It is a gift from God.Think before you speak, and don't make any rash promises to God. He is in heaven and you are on earth, so don't say any more than you have to.

2 Corinthians 8:12-15

If you are eager to give, God will accept your gift on the basis of what you have to give, not on what you don't have.I am not trying to relieve others by putting a burden on you; but since you have plenty at this time, it is only fair that you should help those who are in need. Then, when you are in need and they have plenty, they will help you. In this way both are treated equally. As the scripture says, “The one who gathered much did not have too much, and the one who gathered little did not have too little.”

Acts 5:1-4

But there was a man named Ananias, who with his wife Sapphira sold some property that belonged to them.At once she fell down at his feet and died. The young men came in and saw that she was dead, so they carried her out and buried her beside her husband. The whole church and all the others who heard of this were terrified. Many miracles and wonders were being performed among the people by the apostles. All the believers met together in Solomon's Porch.Nobody outside the group dared join them, even though the people spoke highly of them. But more and more people were added to the group—a crowd of men and women who believed in the Lord.As a result of what the apostles were doing, sick people were carried out into the streets and placed on beds and mats so that at least Peter's shadow might fall on some of them as he passed by.And crowds of people came in from the towns around Jerusalem, bringing those who were sick or who had evil spirits in them; and they were all healed. Then the High Priest and all his companions, members of the local party of the Sadducees, became extremely jealous of the apostles; so they decided to take action. They arrested the apostles and put them in the public jail. But that night an angel of the Lord opened the prison gates, led the apostles out, and said to them,But with his wife's agreement he kept part of the money for himself and turned the rest over to the apostles.“Go and stand in the Temple, and tell the people all about this new life.”The apostles obeyed, and at dawn they entered the Temple and started teaching. The High Priest and his companions called together all the Jewish elders for a full meeting of the Council; then they sent orders to the prison to have the apostles brought before them. But when the officials arrived, they did not find the apostles in prison, so they returned to the Council and reported,“When we arrived at the jail, we found it locked up tight and all the guards on watch at the gates; but when we opened the gates, we found no one inside!”When the chief priests and the officer in charge of the Temple guards heard this, they wondered what had happened to the apostles. Then a man came in and said to them, “Listen! The men you put in prison are in the Temple teaching the people!”So the officer went off with his men and brought the apostles back. They did not use force, however, because they were afraid that the people might stone them. They brought the apostles in, made them stand before the Council, and the High Priest questioned them.“We gave you strict orders not to teach in the name of this man,” he said; “but see what you have done! You have spread your teaching all over Jerusalem, and you want to make us responsible for his death!” Peter and the other apostles answered, “We must obey God, not men.Peter said to him, “Ananias, why did you let Satan take control of you and make you lie to the Holy Spirit by keeping part of the money you received for the property? The God of our ancestors raised Jesus from death, after you had killed him by nailing him to a cross.God raised him to his right side as Leader and Savior, to give the people of Israel the opportunity to repent and have their sins forgiven. We are witnesses to these things—we and the Holy Spirit, who is God's gift to those who obey him.”When the members of the Council heard this, they were so furious that they wanted to have the apostles put to death. But one of them, a Pharisee named Gamaliel, who was a teacher of the Law and was highly respected by all the people, stood up in the Council. He ordered the apostles to be taken out for a while, and then he said to the Council, “Fellow Israelites, be careful what you do to these men.You remember that Theudas appeared some time ago, claiming to be somebody great, and about four hundred men joined him. But he was killed, all his followers were scattered, and his movement died out. After that, Judas the Galilean appeared during the time of the census; he drew a crowd after him, but he also was killed, and all his followers were scattered. And so in this case, I tell you, do not take any action against these men. Leave them alone! If what they have planned and done is of human origin, it will disappear, but if it comes from God, you cannot possibly defeat them. You could find yourselves fighting against God!” The Council followed Gamaliel's advice. Before you sold the property, it belonged to you; and after you sold it, the money was yours. Why, then, did you decide to do such a thing? You have not lied to people—you have lied to God!”

1 Timothy 6:17-19

Command those who are rich in the things of this life not to be proud, but to place their hope, not in such an uncertain thing as riches, but in God, who generously gives us everything for our enjoyment.Command them to do good, to be rich in good works, to be generous and ready to share with others. In this way they will store up for themselves a treasure which will be a solid foundation for the future. And then they will be able to win the life which is true life.

Prayer

Dear Heavenly Father, all glory and honor to You. In Jesus' name, I come before You acknowledging that You are the Owner and Creator of everything. You've entrusted me to be a steward of my family, health, job, possessions, and finances, and I don't want to misuse what is Yours. Lord, please help me to be a good steward and faithful in my tithes and offerings. Help me to always remember that a tenth of everything I receive isn't mine, but Yours. Father, I don't want to fail You, or be a thief, or be under a curse for stealing what belongs to You. Teach me to have a grateful heart and to give my tithes and offerings freely and thankfully for all I've received from Your hand. In Jesus' name, Amen.
