115 Bible Verses about Giving First Fruit Offerings

115 Bible Verses about Giving First Fruit Offerings

Think about first fruits – that special offering we give to God. It's a way of saying "thank you" and showing our love for Him. In the Bible, it's often talked about with the first harvest or the firstborn livestock. But it's so much deeper than that, isn't it?

Giving our first fruits is really about acknowledging that everything we have comes from God. It's about honoring Him by giving Him the first and the best – not the leftovers. It's an act of trust, like saying, "God, I know you'll provide. I know you're the owner of everything, and I depend on you."

It's a good reminder to put God first in everything – not just our money, but our time, our talents, how we use what we have, even the decisions we make every single day. When we put God first, we're saying, "I trust you, God. I want your guidance in everything I do."

It's like James 1:181 says, "He chose to give us birth through the word of truth, that we might be a kind of first fruits of all he created." That's pretty powerful, to think of ourselves as God's first fruits.

Isaiah 1:11-17

What should I think about all your sacrifices? says the LORD. I’m fed up with entirely burned offerings of rams and the fat of well-fed beasts. I don’t want the blood of bulls, lambs, and goats. When you come to appear before me, who asked this from you, this trampling of my temple’s courts?Stop bringing worthless offerings. Your incense repulses me. New moon, sabbath, and the calling of an assembly— I can’t stand wickedness with celebration!I hate your new moons and your festivals. They’ve become a burden that I’m tired of bearing. When you extend your hands, I’ll hide my eyes from you. Even when you pray for a long time, I won’t listen. Your hands are stained with blood.Wash! Be clean! Remove your ugly deeds from my sight. Put an end to such evil;learn to do good. Seek justice: help the oppressed; defend the orphan; plead for the widow.

Prayer

My Jesus, you are worthy of all glory and adoration. You are the beginning and the end, perfect in all your ways. Your goodness and mercy in my life have been so immense. You've showered me with favor and held me close. Today, I give thanks for everything – for my family, for provision, and for daily bread. Today and always, I want to honor you with my life and all that you give. I want to give you not just the first fruits of my finances, but also the first place in my heart. Your word says in Romans 11:16, "If the part of the dough offered as firstfruits is holy, then the whole batch is holy; if the root is holy, so are the branches." I consecrate my first fruits to you, my good God, because I want my whole life to be a pleasing offering to you. So please, purify my being, cleanse my soul, and take complete control of my emotions, so that every step I take may be guided by your voice. To you be all glory, honor, and praise, in Jesus' name, Amen.
