Think about first fruits – that special offering we give to God. It's a way of saying "thank you" and showing our love for Him. In the Bible, it's often talked about with the first harvest or the firstborn livestock. But it's so much deeper than that, isn't it?
Giving our first fruits is really about acknowledging that everything we have comes from God. It's about honoring Him by giving Him the first and the best – not the leftovers. It's an act of trust, like saying, "God, I know you'll provide. I know you're the owner of everything, and I depend on you."
It's a good reminder to put God first in everything – not just our money, but our time, our talents, how we use what we have, even the decisions we make every single day. When we put God first, we're saying, "I trust you, God. I want your guidance in everything I do."
It's like James 1:181 says, "He chose to give us birth through the word of truth, that we might be a kind of first fruits of all he created." That's pretty powerful, to think of ourselves as God's first fruits.
But Christ has indeed been raised from the dead, the firstfruits of those who have fallen asleep.
If the first part of the dough is holy, so is the whole batch; if the root is holy, so are the branches.
“Speak to the Israelites and say, ‘When you enter the land that I am giving you and you reap its harvest, you are to bring to the priest a sheaf of the firstfruits of your harvest.And he shall wave the sheaf before the Lord so that it may be accepted on your behalf; the priest is to wave it on the day after the Sabbath.
He chose to give us birth through the word of truth, that we would be a kind of firstfruits of His creation.

The best of all the firstfruits and of every contribution from all your offerings will belong to the priests. You are to give your first batch of dough to the priest, so that a blessing may rest upon your homes.
Not only that, but we ourselves, who have the firstfruits of the Spirit, groan inwardly as we wait eagerly for our adoption as sons, the redemption of our bodies.
I give you all the freshest olive oil and all the finest new wine and grain that the Israelites give to the Lord as their firstfruits.The firstfruits of everything in their land that they bring to the Lord will belong to you. Every ceremonially clean person in your household may eat them.
You are to give them the firstfruits of your grain, new wine, and oil, and the first wool sheared from your flock.

On the day of firstfruits, when you present an offering of new grain to the Lord during the Feast of Weeks, you are to hold a sacred assembly; you must not do any regular work.

And on that same day men were appointed over the rooms that housed the supplies, contributions, firstfruits, and tithes. The portions specified by the Law for the priests and Levites were gathered into these storerooms from the fields of the villages, because Judah rejoiced over the priests and Levites who were serving.
Moreover, he commanded the people living in Jerusalem to make a contribution for the priests and Levites so that they could devote themselves to the Law of the Lord.As soon as the order went out, the Israelites generously provided the firstfruits of the grain, new wine, oil, and honey, and of all the produce of the field, and they brought in an abundance—a tithe of everything.

I have all I need and more, now that I have received your gifts from Epaphroditus. They are a fragrant offering, an acceptable sacrifice, well-pleasing to God.
One gives freely, yet gains even more; another withholds what is right, only to become poor.A generous soul will prosper, and he who refreshes others will himself be refreshed.
And do not neglect to do good and to share with others, for with such sacrifices God is pleased.

There were no needy ones among them, because those who owned lands or houses would sell their property, bring the proceeds from the sales,and lay them at the apostles’ feet for distribution to anyone as he had need.
In everything, I showed you that by this kind of hard work we must help the weak, remembering the words of the Lord Jesus Himself: ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.’”
Therefore I urge you, brothers, on account of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God, which is your spiritual service of worship.
But who am I, and who are my people, that we should be able to give as generously as this? For everything comes from You, and from Your own hand we have given to You.
For if the eagerness is there, the gift is acceptable according to what one has, not according to what he does not have.
And my God will supply all your needs according to His glorious riches in Christ Jesus.
And this stone I have set up as a pillar will be God’s house, and of all that You give me I will surely give You a tenth.”
Do not withhold good from the deserving when it is within your power to act.Do not tell your neighbor, “Come back tomorrow and I will provide”— when you already have the means.
For on My holy mountain, the high mountain of Israel, declares the Lord GOD, there the whole house of Israel, all of them, will serve Me in the land. There I will accept them and will require your offerings and choice gifts, along with all your holy sacrifices.
Instruct those who are rich in the present age not to be conceited and not to put their hope in the uncertainty of wealth, but in God, who richly provides all things for us to enjoy.Instruct them to do good, to be rich in good works, and to be generous and ready to share,
So all who had willing hearts, both men and women, came and brought brooches and earrings, rings and necklaces, and all kinds of gold jewelry. And they all presented their gold as a wave offering to the Lord.
Now He who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food will supply and multiply your store of seed and will increase the harvest of your righteousness.You will be enriched in every way to be generous on every occasion, so that through us your giving will produce thanksgiving to God.

Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse the lepers, drive out demons. Freely you have received; freely give.
The Lord sends poverty and wealth; He humbles and He exalts.He raises the poor from the dust and lifts the needy from the ash heap. He seats them among princes and bestows on them a throne of honor. For the foundations of the earth are the Lord’s, and upon them He has set the world.
It is well with the man who is generous and lends freely, whose affairs are guided by justice.
Joanna the wife of Herod’s household manager Chuza, Susanna, and many others. These women were ministering to them out of their own means.
Then their father Israel said to them, “If it must be so, then do this: Put some of the best products of the land in your packs and carry them down as a gift for the man—a little balm and a little honey, spices and myrrh, pistachios and almonds.
All the officers and all the people rejoiced and brought their contributions, and they dropped them in the chest until it was full.Whenever the chest was brought by the Levites to the king’s overseers and they saw that there was a large amount of money, the royal scribe and the officer of the high priest would come and empty the chest and carry it back to its place. They did this daily and gathered the money in abundance.
Everyone twenty years of age or older who crosses over must give this offering to the Lord.In making the offering to the Lord to atone for your lives, the rich shall not give more than a half shekel, nor shall the poor give less.
And you shall celebrate the Feast of Weeks to the Lord your God with a freewill offering that you give in proportion to how the Lord your God has blessed you,
For the Israelites and the Levites are to bring the contributions of grain, new wine, and oil to the storerooms where the articles of the sanctuary are kept and where the ministering priests, the gatekeepers, and the singers stay. Thus we will not neglect the house of our God.”
“Go to Bethel and transgress; rebel even more at Gilgal! Bring your sacrifices every morning, your tithes every three days. Offer leavened bread as a thank offering, and loudly proclaim your freewill offerings. For that is what you children of Israel love to do,” declares the Lord GOD.

This is the law of the burnt offering, the grain offering, the sin offering, the guilt offering, the ordination offering, and the peace offering,
“What good to Me is your multitude of sacrifices?” says the Lord. “I am full from the burnt offerings of rams and the fat of well-fed cattle; I take no delight in the blood of bulls and lambs and goats.When you come to appear before Me, who has required this of you— this trampling of My courts?Bring your worthless offerings no more; your incense is detestable to Me— your New Moons, Sabbaths, and convocations. I cannot endure iniquity in a solemn assembly.I hate your New Moons and your appointed feasts. They have become a burden to Me; I am weary of bearing them.When you spread out your hands in prayer, I will hide My eyes from you; even though you multiply your prayers, I will not listen. Your hands are covered with blood.Wash and cleanse yourselves. Remove your evil deeds from My sight. Stop doing evil!Learn to do right; seek justice and correct the oppressor. Defend the fatherless and plead the case of the widow.”
So when you give to the needy, do not sound a trumpet before you, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and on the streets, to be honored by men. Truly I tell you, they already have their full reward.But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moth and rust do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal.For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.The eye is the lamp of the body. If your eyes are good, your whole body will be full of light.But if your eyes are bad, your whole body will be full of darkness. If then the light within you is darkness, how great is that darkness! No one can serve two masters: Either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money.Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes?Look at the birds of the air: They do not sow or reap or gather into barns—and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they?Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life? And why do you worry about clothes? For You do not delight in sacrifice, or I would bring it; You take no pleasure in burnt offerings.The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit; a broken and a contrite heart, O God, You will not despise.
But Zacchaeus stood up and said to the Lord, “Look, Lord, half of my possessions I give to the poor, and if I have cheated anyone, I will repay it fourfold.”
If anyone with earthly possessions sees his brother in need, but withholds his compassion from him, how can the love of God abide in him?

Ascribe to the Lord the glory due His name; bring an offering and come before Him. Worship the Lord in the splendor of His holiness;

“When anyone brings a grain offering to the Lord, his offering must consist of fine flour. He is to pour olive oil on it, put frankincense on it,But the remainder of the grain offering shall belong to Aaron and his sons; it is a most holy part of the offerings made by fire to the Lord.No grain offering that you present to the Lord may be made with leaven, for you are not to burn any leaven or honey as an offering made by fire to the Lord.You may bring them to the Lord as an offering of firstfruits, but they are not to be offered on the altar as a pleasing aroma.And you shall season each of your grain offerings with salt. All the believers were together and had everything in common.Selling their possessions and goods, they shared with anyone who was in need.
So if you who are evil know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good things to those who ask Him!
But just as you excel in everything—in faith, in speech, in knowledge, in complete earnestness, and in the love we inspired in you —see that you also excel in this grace of giving.
