112 Bible Verses about Joy
I want to tell you about a joy that can chase away every sadness and fill your heart to overflowing. It's not a fleeting feeling based on how your day is going, but something you build day by day in the presence of the Holy Spirit.
It's your relationship with the Holy Spirit that will lead you to truly know God. And once you know Him, you'll worship Him in a way that pours out of you like a river of praise, just thinking about how amazing your Savior is. You'll understand His goodness in your life, and laughter will just bubble up.
That's when you'll realize that the happiness this world offers is based on things that fade away, but the joy Jesus puts in your soul lasts forever. God wants you to find refuge in Him, and even in the midst of tears, to find a song of worship rising within you.
When you come to Him, surrendering at His feet, you'll be filled and comforted. Even when you're going through tough times, trials, and struggles, the joy of the Lord will be your strength, and you'll be able to keep going, fulfilling the purpose God has for you.
By God’s grace, His joy will uphold you and give you what you need to face anything. As Psalm 28:7 (NIV) says, "The Lord is my strength and my shield; my heart trusts in him, and he helps me. My heart leaps for joy, and with my song I praise him."
All of them take something for themselves from the land. The king himself receives his share of the crops.
You have never seen Jesus, but still you love him. You do not see him now, but you believe in him. As a result, you are very happy. There are no words to describe how happy you are.You are happy now because God is saving you from sin. You believe in Jesus, and you know that God saves you because of that.
But God's Spirit causes us to live in a different way. We love other people. We are happy and we have peace in our minds. We are patient, kind and good. People can trust us to do what is right.We respect other people and we control ourselves properly. God's Spirit helps us to live in that way. There is no law that says these things are wrong.
If you are with someone who is happy, you should be happy too. If you are with someone who is sad, you should be sad too.
If God agrees, I will be able to come to you. That will make us happy. I will enjoy some rest while I stay there with you.
I want you to be completely happy, in the same way that I myself am happy. That is why I have told you these things.
If your life is good, you should be happy. But if you have trouble, think about this: God causes both joy and trouble in our lives. We do not know what will happen next.
We seem to be sad, but really we are always happy. We seem to be poor, but we make many people rich. We seem to have nothing, but really we have everything.
But do not be happy because you have authority over bad spirits. God has written your names in his book in heaven. That is why you should be happy.’
I tell you this. When one person turns back to God, it causes a lot of joy in heaven. There is more joy about that one person, than about 99 people who already obey God.’
All people on the earth should shout aloud to praise the Lord! Sing happy songs to praise him!
Come now! Let us sing together to worship the Lord! We will shout aloud to praise God, the strong Rock who makes us safe!
Let Christ's message always be in your thoughts, with all the good things that it brings. Use that message to teach and to warn each other. Be very wise as you do that. And also sing all kinds of spiritual songs to praise God. Sing psalms and Christian songs. As you sing, thank God from inside yourselves.
All people on the earth should shout aloud to praise the Lord! Sing happy songs to praise him!Make music on your harps to praise him! Make beautiful music!Make a happy sound with trumpets and horns! Shout aloud to praise the Lord, your king!
Then I will go to your altar, to worship you, the God who makes me happy. You are my God and I will praise you there. I will sing to thank you, God, with my harp.
Lord Almighty, the temple where you live is beautiful!I would rather be near your temple for one day than have a thousand days anywhere else. I would rather stand at the entrance of God's temple than live among wicked people.The Lord God is like a sun and a shield for his people. He is kind to his people and he gives them honour. To those who do what is right, he gives every good thing that they need.Lord Almighty, you have truly blessed everyone who trusts in you!I want very much to go to the Lord's temple. I very much want to be in the temple yards. With all that I am, and with great joy, I sing to you, the God who lives for ever!
You will lead me along the path of life. Because you are with me, I am very happy. I know that I will be with you for ever, and that makes me very happy!
His anger continues only for a moment, but he is kind to us for our whole life. We may be sad all through the night, but in the morning, we will be happy again.

All you righteous people, be happy because of what the Lord has done. Thank him because he is holy.
May all people who turn to you be happy! Make them always sing with joy, because you keep them safe. Take care of those who are faithful to you. Then they will be really happy.
I am very happy, because of what the Lord, my God, has done. I have so much joy! He has given salvation to me, like clothes that I can wear all the time. I have his righteousness as my coat! He makes me handsome, like a bridegroom who wears a priest's hat. He makes me beautiful, like a bride who wears her jewels.
When someone is happy, their face smiles. But when someone is sad, their spirit hurts.
But I am like a strong olive tree that grows in the house of God. I will always trust in God's faithful love for his people.I will always praise you, God, for what you have done. I will trust you to help me, together with all those who serve you.

Everyone on earth, shout and praise the Lord!Worship the Lord and be happy! Come near to him with songs of joy.
We belong to God's kingdom. The things that we eat and drink are not really important. These things are important: We should do what is right. We should have peace in our minds. We should be truly happy. God's Holy Spirit helps us to live like this.
You will continue to bless him for ever. Because you are very near to him, he is very happy.
When God does that, it will make you very happy. You will be safe, like someone who gets plenty of good water from a well to drink.
If you are happy in life, you will be healthy. But if you are sad and upset, your body will be weak.
But righteous people will be happy, when they come near to you. They will shout with joy, because they are so happy!
When people went to plant seeds in their fields, they were crying. But they will be happy when they bring in the harvest!
Hallelujah! Praise the Lord! Sing a new song to worship the Lord. When his own people meet together, they should praise him.
God is preparing many good things for you in heaven. So you should be very happy when people do these bad things to any of you. People did these same bad things to God's prophets who lived long ago.’
You will leave that foreign land with joy! You will travel home with peace in your minds. The mountains and the hills will sing with joy as you travel past. The trees in the fields will clap their hands together!
The things that you do, Lord, make me very happy. I sing with joy because of everything that your hands have made!
We must not become tired as we do things that are good. We must not become so weak that we stop. Then we will receive a good harvest at the proper time.
You prepare a feast for me while my enemies watch. You put olive oil on my head. You bless me so much that my cup is completely full.
So think about the good things that are there in heaven above. Do not think only about things that are on the earth.
You have truly blessed the people who know how to praise you, Lord. They know that you are pleased with them.
Everyone looks to you for help. You provide food for everything at the right time.You are ready to give with an open hand. You give food to every living thing, as much as they need.
My Christian friends, remember to be happy, even when many kinds of trouble happen to you. Troubles can help you.God wants us to do what is right. But when someone is angry, they do not do those right things.So stop doing disgusting things. Stay away from the wicked things that are all around you. God has put his message deep inside you, and it can save you. So be humble and accept it as a true message.But be careful to do what God says in his message. Do not only listen to it. Do not make that mistake!You must obey God's message. Do not be like a man who quickly looks at his face in a mirror.That man looks at himself, but then he goes away. He immediately forgets what he is really like.So do not just listen to God's message and then forget it. It is a completely good message that makes people free. Look at it carefully and keep it in your mind. Do what it tells you to do. God will bless anyone who lives in that way.Maybe some of you think that you are serving God well. But if you also say bad things about people, you do not serve God well at all. You are doing something bad even when you think you are doing good things.If you want to serve God in a completely good way, do things like this: Help children who have no parents and women who are widows. Help them in their troubles. If you serve God our Father like that, he will be pleased with you. Do not let the bad people in this world make you bad too.God wants to see if you really trust him. Your faith in God will become stronger as a result of these troubles.
The master said to this servant, “You are a good servant and you have done really well. You were careful with a small amount of money. Now I will give you authority over many more things. Come now, and we will be happy together.”
I ask myself, ‘Why am I so sad and upset?’ I must wait patiently for God to help me. Then I will praise my God once again, because he is the one who saves me.
I will be very happy because of who you are. I will sing to praise your name, Most High God.

So all you people who belong to the Lord, praise him and be happy! All of you who are good, honest people, shout aloud because you are so happy!

In that way, the people in Zion who are sad will become strong again. They will not put ashes on their heads any more. Instead, they will wear beautiful hats. Instead of weeping, they will have olive oil to show their joy. They will not feel upset, but they will sing happy songs to praise God. People will call them ‘Strong trees that show God's righteousness’. They will be like trees that the Lord himself has planted to show how great he is.
I will shout aloud with joy, as I praise you with music! I will sing songs to praise you, because you have rescued me.
The Lord is the one who can save Israel's people. Please Lord, come now from your home in Zion! When the Lord makes his people strong again, Jacob's descendants will be happy! Yes, Israel's people will shout with joy!
My Christian friends, there are a few more things that I want to say. You belong to the Lord, so be happy! It is no trouble for me to write the same things to you again. And it will help to keep you safe.

Offer a song to the Lord, to thank him for what he has done. Make music with a harp to praise our God.

The people were very happy that their leaders gave these things. They were pleased to give to help the Lord's work. King David was also very happy.
They will speak about your great glory. I too will think carefully about your wonderful acts.
Listen to the happy shouts of God's people in their tents! They have won against their enemies, because the Lord has power to do great things.
Lord, may those who come to you be very happy, because you have saved them. They should never stop saying, ‘Praise the Lord!’
At that time, people will say, ‘Look! This is our God! We trusted him to keep us safe, and he rescued us. Yes, this is the Lord! We trusted him to keep us safe. We will sing with joy, because he has saved us.’
The people who belong to God should be very happy, because he has made them great. They should always sing with joy, even when they lie on their beds at night.
When I think about your own people who live in this land, it makes me happy! They are truly great people!
But I am always near to you. You hold my right hand, as my guide.You teach me the right way to go. Finally, you will receive me with honour.
When the Lord turned us around, so that we enjoyed a good life in Zion again, we thought that we were dreaming!At that time, we laughed a lot. We sang with joy because we were so happy! People in other countries said to each other, ‘The Lord has done great things for them!’
So we should always praise God, because of what Jesus has done for us. We should say clearly that we trust Jesus. That is like our sacrifice which we offer to God all the time.
Then I will be happy because of what the Lord has done. I will be happy because he has made me safe.
David told the leaders of the Levites to choose some of their relatives to be musicians. Some would sing songs. Some would make music with lyres, harps and cymbals. They would sing loud and happy songs.
Instead, I am quiet and there is peace in my mind. I am like a young child who sits on his mother's knee. Yes, I have peace in my mind.
Lord, I am waiting for you to save me. Please do it soon! Your Law makes me very happy.
What good people hope to receive causes them to be happy. But wicked people never receive what they hope for.
The Lord's rules are always right. If we obey them, they make us really happy. The Lord's commands are completely good. They show us how to live in a good way.

The second man was very happy and he went away. He sold everything that he had. Then he went and bought the field with the valuable things in it.
You have taught children and babies to praise you. You do that to show your enemies how strong you are. Anyone who turns against you has to be quiet. Your cruel enemies can do nothing!
But we thank God! Because of our Lord Jesus Christ, we win against death and its power.
I want very much to go to the Lord's temple. I very much want to be in the temple yards. With all that I am, and with great joy, I sing to you, the God who lives for ever!
I thank you for the wonderful way that you have made me. Everything that you do is wonderful! I know all this is true.
It says also in the Bible: ‘Be very happy, you Gentiles! Praise God together with his people.’
Listen! God is the one who saves me! I will continue to trust him. I will not be afraid because the Lord himself makes me strong. He keeps me safe. He rescues us from our enemies.’
I was very upset, so I called to the Lord to help me. The Lord answered me. He made me free from my trouble.The Lord is here to help me, so I will not be afraid. Nobody can do anything to hurt me!
Yes, I am sure that you need me. For that reason, I know that I will continue to live among you. Then I will be able to help you to trust Christ even more. And that will make you even happier.
You have prepared many good things to bless people who respect you. While everyone watches, you bless those who come to you for help.
Nehemiah said to the people, ‘Go to your homes and eat some good food. Drink sweet drinks. Share your food and your drink with people who do not have enough for themselves. This is a holy day for our Lord, so do not be sad. The Lord will give you joy so that you can be strong.’

The people that the Lord has rescued will return from exile. They will sing with joy while they go into Zion city. Their joy will be like a crown that they wear on their heads for ever. They will continue to be very happy. They will never be sad or weep again.
Until now, you have not asked for anything in my name. Ask God, and you will receive what you ask for. Then you will be completely happy.
You have shown me the paths that lead to life with you. I will be completely happy because you will be with me for ever.” ’
Be happy, because you can trust God to do what he says. Be patient when you suffer. Always continue to pray.
