My brothers, count it all joy when you fall into diverse temptations, for the anger of man does not work the righteousness of God.Therefore lay aside all filthiness and remaining wickedness and receive with meekness the implanted word, which is able to save your souls.Be doers of the word and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves. For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man viewing his natural face in a mirror. He views himself, and goes his way, and immediately forgets what kind of man he was.But whoever looks into the perfect law of liberty, and continues in it, and is not a forgetful hearer but a doer of the work, this man will be blessed in his deeds. If anyone among you seems to be religious and does not bridle his tongue, but deceives his own heart, this man’s religion is vain.Religion that is pure and undefiled before God, the Father, is this: to visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction and to keep oneself unstained by the world.knowing that the trying of your faith develops patience.
Not only so, but we also boast in tribulation, knowing that tribulation produces patience, patience produces character, and character produces hope. And hope does not disappoint, because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Spirit who has been given to us.
In this you greatly rejoice, even though now, if for a little while, you have had to suffer various trials,in order that the genuineness of your faith, being much more precious than gold that perishes, though it is tried by fire, may be found to result in praise, honor, and glory at the revelation of Jesus Christ,
For His anger endures but for a moment; His favor is for a lifetime; weeping may linger for the night, but joy comes in the morning.
We know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose.
Rejoice always.Pray without ceasing. In everything give thanks, for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.
Those who sow in tears shall reap with joy.He who goes forth weeping, bearing seed for sowing, shall come home with rejoicing, bringing his sheaves with him.
to preserve those who mourn in Zion, to give to them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness, that they might be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the Lord, that He might be glorified.
Therefore, since we are encompassed with such a great cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight and the sin that so easily entangles us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us.For they indeed disciplined us for a short time according to their own judgment, but He does so for our profit, that we may partake of His holiness. Now no discipline seems to be joyful at the time, but grievous. Yet afterward it yields the peaceful fruit of righteousness in those who have been trained by it.Therefore lift up your tired hands, and strengthen your weak knees.Make straight paths for your feet, lest that which is lame go out of joint, but rather be healed.Pursue peace with all men, and the holiness without which no one will see the Lord, watching diligently so that no one falls short of the grace of God, lest any root of bitterness spring up to cause trouble, and many become defiled by it,lest there be any sexually immoral or profane person, as Esau, who for one morsel of food sold his birthright. For you know that afterward, when he wanted to inherit the blessing, he was rejected. For he found no place for repentance, though he sought it diligently with tears. You have not come to a mountain that can be touched and that burned with fire, and to blackness and darkness and storm, and to the sound of a trumpet and to a voice speaking words, such that those who heard them begged that the word not be spoken to them anymore.Let us look to Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God.
Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness’ sake, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.“Blessed are you when men revile you and persecute you, and say all kinds of evil against you falsely for My sake.Rejoice and be very glad, because great is your reward in heaven, for in this manner they persecuted the prophets who were before you.
strengthened with all might according to His glorious power, enduring everything with perseverance and patience joyfully,
When you pass through waters, I will be with you. And through the rivers, they shall not overflow you. When you walk through the fire, you shall not be burned, nor shall the flame kindle on you.
Only let your conduct be worthy of the gospel of Christ, that whether or not I come and see you, I may hear of your activities, that you are standing fast in one spirit, with one mind, striving together for the faith of the gospel, and not in any way frightened by your adversaries. This is a sign to them of their destruction, but to you of salvation, and that from God.
Why are you cast down, O my soul? And why are you disquieted within me? Hope in God; for I shall again praise Him, my salvation and my God.
For this reason we do not lose heart: Even though our outward man is perishing, yet our inward man is being renewed day by day.Our light affliction, which lasts but for a moment, works for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory, while we do not look at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen. For the things which are seen are temporal, but the things which are not seen are eternal.
“Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavily burdened, and I will give you rest.Take My yoke upon you, and learn from Me. For I am meek and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.and said to Him, “Are You He who should come, or should we look for another?”For My yoke is easy, and My burden is light.”
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, and self-control; against such there is no law.
A merry heart makes a cheerful countenance, but by sorrow of the heart the spirit is broken.
When I am afraid, I will trust in You.In God, whose word I praise, in God have I put my trust; I will not fear. What can mere flesh do to me?
Beloved, do not be surprised at the fiery ordeal that is taking place among you to test you, as though some strange thing happened to you.But rejoice insofar as you share in Christ’s sufferings, so that you may rejoice and be glad also in the revelation of His glory.
I waited patiently for the Lord, and He turned to me and heard my cry.I have not hidden Your righteousness within my heart; I have declared Your faithfulness and Your salvation; I have not concealed Your lovingkindness and Your truth from the great congregation.Withhold not Your mercy from me, O Lord; let Your lovingkindness and Your truth continually preserve me.For innumerable evils have surrounded me; my iniquities have overtaken me, so that I am not able to look up; they are more than the hairs of my head; therefore my heart fails me.Be pleased, O Lord, to deliver me; O Lord, make haste to help me.Let them be ashamed and confounded together who seek to snatch away my life; let them be driven backward and dishonored who desire my hurt.Let them be appalled because of their shame who say to me, “Aha, aha!”Let all those who seek You rejoice and be glad in You; let those who love Your salvation say continually, “The Lord be magnified!”But I am poor and needy; yet the Lord is mindful of me. You are my help and my deliverer; do not delay, O my God.He also brought me up out of a horrible pit, out of the miry clay, and set my feet upon a rock, and established my steps. He has put a new song in my mouth, praise to our God; many will see it and fear, and will trust in the Lord.
but those who wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles, they shall run and not be weary, and they shall walk and not faint.
I will give thanks to You, O Lord, with my whole heart; I will declare all Your marvelous works. Those who know Your name will put their trust in You, for You, Lord, have not forsaken those who seek You.Sing praises to the Lord who dwells in Zion; declare His deeds among the people. He who avenges deaths remembers them; He does not forget the cry of the humble.Be gracious to me, O Lord; consider my trouble from those who hate me, O You who lifts me up from the gates of death, that I may recount all Your praise in the gates of the daughter of Zion, that I may rejoice in Your salvation. The nations have sunk down in the pit that they made; their own foot is caught in the net which they hid.The Lord is known by the judgment that He executes; the wicked is snared in the work of his own hands. Higgaion. SelahThe wicked will depart to Sheol, all the nations that forget God.For the needy will not always be forgotten, nor will the hope of the poor perish forever.Arise, O Lord, may mortals not prevail; let the nations be judged in Your sight.I will be glad and rejoice in You; I will sing praise to Your name, O Most High.
Let your lives be without love of money, and be content with the things you have. For He has said: “I will never leave you, nor forsake you.”So we may boldly say: “The Lord is my helper; I will not fear. What can man do to me?”
Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that you may abound in hope, through the power of the Holy Spirit.
Therefore, take no thought about tomorrow, for tomorrow will take thought about the things of itself. Sufficient to the day is the trouble thereof.
Why are you cast down, O my soul? And why are you disquieted within me? Hope in God, for I shall again praise Him for the help of His presence.
And let us not grow weary in doing good, for in due season we shall reap, if we do not give up.
I do not speak because I have need, for I have learned in whatever state I am to be content.I know both how to face humble circumstances and how to have abundance. Everywhere and in all things I have learned the secret, both to be full and to be hungry, both to abound and to suffer need.
Remember the former days, after you were enlightened, in which you endured a great struggle of afflictions. In part you were made a spectacle both by reproaches and afflictions. And in part you became companions of those who were so abused. For you had compassion on me in my chains and joyfully endured the confiscation of your property, knowing that you have in heaven a better and an enduring possession for yourselves.
Do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, I will help you, yes, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.
as sorrowful, yet always rejoicing; as poor, yet making many rich; and as having nothing, and yet possessing all things.
to know Him, and the power of His resurrection, and the fellowship of His sufferings, being conformed to His death,
Therefore, since we have been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ,For if while we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of His Son, how much more, being reconciled, shall we be saved by His life!Furthermore, we also rejoice in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received reconciliation. Therefore as sin came into the world through one man and death through sin, so death has spread to all men, because all have sinned. For until the law, sin was in the world. But sin is not counted when there is no law.Nevertheless death reigned from Adam to Moses, even over those who had not sinned in the likeness of Adam’s sin, who was a type of Him who was to come. But the free gift is not like the trespass. For if through the trespass of one man many died, then how much more has the grace of God and the free gift by the grace of the one Man, Jesus Christ, abounded to many. The gift is not like the result that came through the one who sinned. For the judgment from one sin led to condemnation, but the free gift, which came after many trespasses, leads to justification. For if by one man’s trespass death reigned through him, then how much more will those who receive abundance of grace and the gift of righteousness reign in life through the One, Jesus Christ. Therefore just as through the trespass of one man came condemnation for all men, so through the righteous act of One came justification of life for all men.For just as through one man’s disobedience the many were made sinners, so by the obedience of One the many will be made righteous.through whom we also have access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and so we rejoice in hope of the glory of God.
Blessed be God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies, and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort those who are in any trouble by the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God.
I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Marvelous are Your works, and that my soul knows right well.
You will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on You, because he trusts in You.
But after you have suffered a little while, the God of all grace, who has called us to His eternal glory through Christ Jesus, will restore, support, strengthen, and establish you.
You will show me the path of life. In Your presence is fullness of joy; at Your right hand are pleasures forevermore.
Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law by being made a curse for us—as it is written, “Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree” —so that the blessing of Abraham might come on the Gentiles through Jesus Christ, that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.
For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed to us.
And the Lord shall guide you continually, and satisfy your soul in drought, and strengthen your bones; and you shall be like a watered garden, and like a spring of water, whose waters do not fail.
You have multiplied, O Lord my God, Your wondrous deeds and Your thoughts toward us; none can compare with You. if I would declare and speak of them, they are more than can be numbered.
But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, the excellency of the power being from God and not from ourselves.We are troubled on every side, yet not distressed; we are perplexed, but not in despair;persecuted, but not forsaken; cast down, but not destroyed;
He will call upon Me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him and honor him.
Let us then come with confidence to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.
I am confident of this very thing, that He who began a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ.
But now, thus says the Lord who created you, O Jacob, and He who formed you, O Israel: Do not fear, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by your name; you are Mine.
For the kingdom of God does not mean eating and drinking, but righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit.
for whoever is born of God overcomes the world, and the victory that overcomes the world is our faith.
Praise the Lord! Blessed is the man who fears the Lord, who delights greatly in His commandments. The wicked will see it and be angry; he will gnash his teeth and melt away; the desire of the wicked will perish. His descendants will be mighty on the earth; the generation of the upright will be blessed.
I will greatly rejoice in the Lord, my soul shall be joyful in my God; for He has clothed me with the garments of salvation, He has covered me with the robe of righteousness, as a bridegroom decks himself with ornaments, and as a bride adorns herself with her jewels.
Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; for You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.
whom, having not seen, you love; and in whom, though you do not see Him now, you believe and you rejoice with joy unspeakable and full of glory,
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, gentleness, goodness, faith,
Through Him, then, let us continually offer to God the sacrifice of praise, which is the fruit of our lips, giving thanks to His name.
What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how shall He not with Him also freely give us all things?
Though I walk in the midst of trouble, You will preserve me; You will stretch Your hand out against the wrath of my enemies, and Your right hand will deliver me.
All the days of the afflicted are evil, but he who is of a merry heart has a continual feast.
neither height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Behold, God is my salvation; I will trust and not be afraid; for the Lord God is my strength and my song; He also has become my salvation.
God is faithful, and by Him you were called to the fellowship of His Son, Jesus Christ our Lord.
Cast your burden on the Lord, and He will sustain you; He will never permit the righteous to be moved.
You have turned my mourning into dancing; You have taken off my sackcloth and girded me with gladness,so that my soul may sing praise to You and not be silent. O Lord my God, I will give thanks to You forever.
Beloved, do not avenge yourselves, but rather give place to God’s wrath, for it is written: “Vengeance is Mine. I will repay,” says the Lord.
Vindicate me, O Lord, for I have walked in my integrity, and I have trusted in the Lord; therefore I will not waver.in whose hands is wickedness, and whose right hand is full of bribes. But as for me, I will walk in my integrity; redeem me and be gracious to me.My foot stands on level ground; in the congregations I will bless the Lord.Examine me, O Lord, and prove me; try my mind and my heart.
You, brothers, have been called to liberty. Only do not use liberty to give an opportunity to the flesh, but by love serve one another.
Why are you cast down, O my soul? And why are you disquieted within me? Hope in God; for I shall again praise Him, my salvation and my God.
No temptation has taken you except what is common to man. God is faithful, and He will not permit you to be tempted above what you can endure, but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that you may be able to bear it.
Let us look to Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God.
For sin shall not have dominion over you, for you are not under the law, but under grace.
But my God shall supply your every need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.
You are of God, little children, and have overcome them, because He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world.
For all the promises of God in Him are “Yes,” and in Him “Amen,” to the glory of God through us.
Behold, the eye of the Lord is on those who fear Him, on those who hope in His lovingkindness,
and if you give yourself to the hungry and satisfy the afflicted soul, then your light shall rise in obscurity, and your darkness shall become as the noonday. And the Lord shall guide you continually, and satisfy your soul in drought, and strengthen your bones; and you shall be like a watered garden, and like a spring of water, whose waters do not fail.
In everything give thanks, for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.
But we are not of those who draw back to destruction, but of those who have faith to the saving of the soul.
Not only so, but we also boast in tribulation, knowing that tribulation produces patience,
He gives power to the faint, and to those who have no might He increases strength. The voice of him who cries out, “Prepare the way of the Lord in the wilderness, make straight in the desert a highway for our God.Even the youths shall faint and be weary, and the young men shall utterly fall, but those who wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles, they shall run and not be weary, and they shall walk and not faint.
The Lord is on my side; I will not fear. What can man do to me?The Lord is on my side, with those who help me; therefore shall I look in triumph on those who hate me.
Only let your conduct be worthy of the gospel of Christ, that whether or not I come and see you, I may hear of your activities, that you are standing fast in one spirit, with one mind, striving together for the faith of the gospel,
Therefore, if any man is in Christ, he is a new creature. Old things have passed away. Behold, all things have become new.
Brothers, I do not count myself to have attained, but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead,I press toward the goal to the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.
Blessed are the people who are in such a state; blessed are the people whose God is the Lord.
Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight.
