My brethren, count it all joy when you meet with various temptations;Knowing this, that the testing of your faith produces patience.
And not only so, but we glory in tribulations also: knowing that tribulation works patience;And patience, experience; and experience, hope:And hope does not make us ashamed; because the love of God is poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit which is given to us.
In this you greatly rejoice, though now for a season, if it must be, you are in sadness through manifold temptations:That the testing of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perishes, though it is tried with fire, may result in praise and honor and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ:
For his anger endures but a moment; in his favor is life: weeping may endure for a night, but joy comes in the morning.
And he said to me, My grace is sufficient for you: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my weaknesses, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.Therefore I take pleasure in weaknesses, in reproaches, in necessities, in persecutions, in distresses for Christ’s sake: for when I am weak, then I am strong.
And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to his purpose.
Rejoice at all times.Pray without ceasing.In everything give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.
Those who sow in tears shall reap in joy.He that goes forth and weeps, bearing precious seed, shall doubtless come again with rejoicing, bringing his sheaves with him.
To appoint for those who mourn in Zion, to give to them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they might be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the LORD, that he might be glorified.
Therefore seeing that we also are surrounded with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily besets us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us,Looking to Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God.
Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness’ sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.Blessed are you, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake.Rejoice, and be exceedingly glad: for great is your reward in heaven: for so they persecuted the prophets who were before you.
Strengthened with all might, according to his glorious power, for all patience and longsuffering with joyfulness;
When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow you: when you walk through the fire, you shall not be burned; neither shall the flame kindle upon you.
The LORD also will be a refuge for the oppressed, a refuge in times of trouble.And those who know your name will put their trust in you: for you, LORD, have not forsaken those who seek you.
Only let your conduct be suitable for the gospel of Christ: that whether I come and see you, or else am absent, I may hear of your affairs, that you stand fast in one spirit, with one mind striving together for the faith of the gospel;And in nothing terrified by your adversaries: which is to them an evident token of perdition, but to you of salvation, and that from God.
Why are you cast down, O my soul? and why are you disquieted within me? hope in God: for I shall yet praise him, who is the health of my countenance, and my God.
For which reason we do not faint; but though our outward man is perishing, yet the inner man is being renewed day by day.For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, works for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory;While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal.
Come unto me, all you who labor and bear heavy burdens, and I will give you rest.Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and you shall find rest for your souls.For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.
A merry heart makes a cheerful appearance: but by sorrow of the heart the spirit is broken.
My flesh and my heart fails: but God is the strength of my heart, and my portion for ever.
When I am afraid, I will trust in you.In God I will praise his word, in God I have put my trust; I will not fear what flesh can do unto me.
Let, I pray you, your merciful kindness be for my comfort, according to your word to your servant.
Beloved, do not think it strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened to you:But rejoice, to the extent that you are sharers of Christ’s sufferings; that, when his glory shall be revealed, you may be glad also with exceeding joy.
I waited patiently for the LORD; and he turned to me, and heard my cry.He brought me up also out of a horrible pit, out of the miry clay, and set my feet upon a rock, and established my goings.And he has put a new song in my mouth, even praise to our God: many shall see it, and fear, and shall trust in the LORD.
But those who wait for the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.
I will praise you, O LORD, with my whole heart; I will show forth all your marvelous works.I will be glad and rejoice in you: I will sing praise to your name, O thou most High.
Let your conduct be without covetousness; and be content with such things as you have: for he has said, I will never leave you, nor forsake you,So that we may boldly say, The Lord is my helper, and I will not fear what man shall do to me.
Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that you may abound in hope, through the power of the Holy Spirit.
Therefore do not be anxious about tomorrow: for tomorrow shall be anxious about the things of itself. Sufficient to the day is the evil thereof.
The hope of the righteous shall be gladness: but the expectation of the wicked shall perish.
Why are you cast down, O my soul? and why are you disquieted in me? hope in God: for I shall yet praise him for the help of his countenance.
And let us not be weary in well doing: for when the time is right we shall reap, if we do not faint.
Not that I speak of want: for I have learned, in whatever state I am, to be content with it.I know both how to be abased, and I know how to abound: everywhere and in all things I am instructed both how to be full and how to be hungry, both how to abound and how to suffer need.
But call to remembrance the former days, in which, after you were enlightened, you endured a great struggle of afflictions;Partly, while you were made a gazing stock both by reproaches and afflictions; and partly, while you became companions of those who were so treated.For you had compassion on me in my bonds, and accepted joyfully the plundering of your goods, knowing in yourselves that you have in heaven a better and an enduring possession.
Fear not; for I am with you: be not dismayed; for I am your God: I will strengthen you; yea, I will help you; yea, I will uphold you with the right hand of my righteousness.
As sorrowful, yet always rejoicing; as poor, yet making many rich; as having nothing, and yet possessing all things.
That I may know him, and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings, being made like his death;
Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ:By whom also we have access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God.
Blessed be God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies, and the God of all comfort;Who comforts us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort those who are in any trouble, by the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God.
I will praise you; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvelous are your works; and that my soul knows right well.
You will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is sustained on you: because he trusts in you.
But the God of all grace, who has called us to his eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after you have suffered a while, make you perfect, establish, strengthen, and settle you.
You will show me the path of life: in your presence is fulness of joy; at your right hand there are pleasures for evermore.
Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangs on a tree:That the blessing of Abraham might come on the Gentiles through Jesus Christ; that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.
For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us.
And the LORD shall guide you continually, and satisfy your soul in drought, and make fat your bones: and you shall be like a watered garden, and like a spring of water, whose waters never fail.
Many, O LORD my God, are your wonderful works which you have done, and your thoughts which are towards us: they cannot be recounted in order to you: if I would declare and speak of them, they are more than can be numbered.
But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, so that the excellence of the power may be of God, and not of us.We are troubled on every side, yet not distressed; we are perplexed, but not in despair;Persecuted, but not forsaken; cast down, but not destroyed;
He shall call upon me, and I will answer him: I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him, and honor him.
Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.
Being confident of this very thing, that he who has begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ:
But now thus says the LORD who created you, O Jacob, and he who formed you, O Israel, Fear not: for I have redeemed you, I have called you by your name; you are mine.
For the kingdom of God is not food and drink; but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Spirit.
For whatever is born of God overcomes the world: and this is the victory that overcomes the world, even our faith.
Praise ye the LORD. Blessed is the man that fears the LORD, that delights greatly in his commandments.His descendents shall be mighty upon earth: the generation of the upright shall be blessed.
I will greatly rejoice in the LORD, my soul shall be joyful in my God; for he has clothed me with the garments of salvation, he has covered me with the robe of righteousness, as a bridegroom decks himself with ornaments, and as a bride adorns herself with her jewels.
Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for you are with me; your rod and your staff they comfort me.
Whom having not seen, you love; in whom, though now you do not see him, yet believing, you rejoice with joy unspeakable and full of glory:
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,
By him therefore let us offer the sacrifice of praise to God continually, that is, the fruit of our lips giving thanks to his name.
What shall we then say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?He who did not spare his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things?
Though I walk in the midst of trouble, you will revive me: you shall stretch out your hand against the anger of my enemies, and your right hand shall save me.
All the days of the afflicted are evil: but he that is of a merry heart has a continual feast.
Nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Behold, God is my salvation; I will trust, and not be afraid: for the LORD JEHOVAH is my strength and my song; he also has become my salvation.
God is faithful, by whom you were called to the fellowship of his Son Jesus Christ our Lord.
Cast your burden upon the LORD, and he shall sustain you: he shall never permit the righteous to be moved.
For God has not given us the spirit of fear, but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.
You have turned for me my mourning into singing: you have put off my sackcloth, and clothed me with gladness;To the end that my glory may sing praise to you, and not be silent. O LORD my God, I will give thanks unto you for ever.
Dearly beloved, do not avenge yourselves, but rather give place to wrath: for it is written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, says the Lord.
Judge me, O LORD; for I have walked in my integrity: I have trusted also in the LORD; therefore I shall not slide.Examine me, O LORD, and prove me; purify my thoughts and my heart.
For, brethren, you have been called to liberty; only do not use liberty as an opportunity for the flesh, but by love serve one another.
Why are you cast down, O my soul? and why are you disquieted within me? hope in God: for I shall yet praise him, who is the health of my countenance, and my God.
There has no temptation overtaken you but such as is common to mankind: but God is faithful, who will not permit you to be tempted more than you are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that you may be able to bear it.
Looking to Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God.
For sin shall not have dominion over you: for you are not under the law, but under grace.
But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.
You are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.
For all the promises of God are yes in him, and Amen in him, to the glory of God through us.
Behold, the eye of the LORD is upon those who fear him, upon those who hope in his mercy;
And if you draw out your soul to the hungry, and satisfy the afflicted soul; then shall your light rise in obscurity, and your darkness be as the noonday:And the LORD shall guide you continually, and satisfy your soul in drought, and make fat your bones: and you shall be like a watered garden, and like a spring of water, whose waters never fail.
In everything give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.
For evildoers shall be cut off: but those that wait for the LORD, they shall inherit the earth.For yet a little while, and the wicked shall not be: yea, you shall diligently consider his place, and it shall not be.But the meek shall inherit the earth; and shall delight themselves in the abundance of peace.
But we are not of those who draw back to destruction; but of those who believe to the saving of the soul.
And not only so, but we glory in tribulations also: knowing that tribulation works patience;
He gives power to the faint; and to those who have no might he increases strength.Even the youths shall faint and be weary, and the young men shall completely fall:But those who wait for the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.
The LORD is on my side; I will not fear: what can man do to me?The LORD takes my side with those who help me: therefore shall I see my desire upon those who hate me.
Only let your conduct be suitable for the gospel of Christ: that whether I come and see you, or else am absent, I may hear of your affairs, that you stand fast in one spirit, with one mind striving together for the faith of the gospel;
If I take the wings of the morning, and dwell in the farthest parts of the sea;Even there shall your hand lead me, and your right hand shall hold me.
Therefore if any man is in Christ, he is a new creature: old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.
I waited patiently for the LORD; and he turned to me, and heard my cry.He brought me up also out of a horrible pit, out of the miry clay, and set my feet upon a rock, and established my goings.
Brethren, I do not count myself to have taken hold of it: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and straining forward to those things which are ahead,I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.
Happy is that people, that is in such a state: yea, happy is that people, whose God is the LORD.
Trust in the LORD with all your heart; and do not rely on your own understanding.In all your ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct your paths.
Wait on the LORD: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen your heart: wait, I say, on the LORD.
