My brothers and sisters, you will have many kinds of troubles. But when these things happen, you should be very happy.Why? Because you know that these things are testing your faith. And this will give you patience.
And we are also happy with the troubles we have. Why are we happy with troubles? Because we know that these troubles make us more patient.And this patience is proof that we are strong. And this proof gives us hope.And this hope will never disappoint us—\{it will never fail\}. Why? Because God has poured out his love to fill our hearts. God gave us his love through the Holy Spirit. {\cf2\super [48]} That Holy Spirit was a gift to us from God.
This makes you very happy. But now for a short time different kinds of troubles may make you sad.Why do these troubles happen? To prove that your faith is pure (true). This purity of faith is worth more than gold. Gold can be proved to be pure by fire, but gold will ruin. The purity of your faith will bring you praise and glory and honor when Jesus Christ appears (comes).
God was angry,\par so the decision was “death.”\par But he showed his love,\par and gave me “life.”\par At night,\par I lay crying.\par The next morning,\par I was happy and singing!\par
But the Lord said to me, “My grace (kindness) is enough for you. When you are weak, then my power is made perfect in you.” So I am very happy to boast about my weaknesses. Then Christ’s power can live in me.So I am happy when I have weaknesses. I am happy when people say bad things to me. I am happy when I have hard times. I am happy when people treat me badly. And I am happy when I have problems. All these things are for Christ. And I am happy with these things, because when I am weak, then I am truly strong.
We know that in everything God works for the good of those people that love him. These are the people God called (chose), because that was his plan.
Always be full of joy.Never stop praying.Give thanks \{to God\} at all times. That is what God wants for you in Christ Jesus.
A person might be sad\par when he plants the seeds,\par but he will be happy\par when he gathers the crops!\parHe might cry when he carries\par the seeds out to the field,\par but he will be happy\par when he brings the harvest in!\par \par \par
God sent me to the sad people of Zion. \{I will get them ready for the celebration.\} I will take away the ashes on their head, and I will give them a crown. I will take away their sadness, and I will give them the oil of happiness. I will take away their sorrow, and I will give them celebration clothes. God sent me to name those people ‘Good Trees’ and ‘The Lord’s Wonderful Plant.’
We have those many people \{of faith\} around us. Their lives tell us what faith means. So we should be like them. We too should run the race that is before us and never stop trying. We should take away \{from our lives\} anything that would stop us. And we should take away the sin that so easily catches us.We should always follow the example of Jesus. Jesus is the leader in our faith. And he makes our faith perfect. He suffered death on the cross. But Jesus accepted the shame of the cross like it was nothing. He did this because of the joy that God put before him. And now he is sitting at the right side of God’s throne.
What great blessings there are for the people that are treated badly for doing good!\par The kingdom of heaven belongs to them.\par“People will say bad things against you and hurt you. They will lie and say all kinds of evil things against you because you follow me. But when people do those things to you, know that God will bless you.Be happy and glad. You have a great reward waiting for you in heaven. People did those same bad things to the prophets {\cf2\super [60]} that lived before you.
that God will strengthen you with his\par own great power;\par that God will strengthen you,\par so that you will be patient\par and not quit when troubles come.\par
When you have troubles, I am with you. When you cross rivers, you will not be hurt. When you walk through fire, you will not be burned; the flames will not hurt you.
Many people are trapped and hurting\par because they have many troubles.\par Those people are crushed by the weight of their problems.\par Lord, be a safe place for them to run to.\parPeople who know your name\par should trust you.\par Lord, if people come to you,\par you will not leave them without help.\par
Be sure that you live in a way that fits the Good News {\cf2\super [11]} of Christ. Then if I come and visit you or if I am away from you, I will hear good things about you. I will hear that you continue strong with the same purpose and work together like a team for the faith (truth) that comes from the Good News.And you will not be afraid of those people who are against you. All of these things are proof from God that you are being saved and that your enemies will be lost.
Why should I be so sad?\par Why should I be so upset?\par I should wait for God’s help.\par I will get the chance to praise him yet.\par He will save me!\par
“Come to me all you people that are tired and have heavy burdens. I will give you rest.Accept my work and learn from me. I am gentle and humble in spirit. And you will find rest for your souls.Yes, the work that I ask you to accept is easy. The burden I give you to carry is not heavy.”
But the Spirit {\cf2\super [74]} gives love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,gentleness, self-control. There is no law that can say these things are wrong.
If a person is happy, then his face will show joy. But if a person is sad in his heart, then his spirit will show that sadness.
Maybe my mind {\cf2\super [419]} and body\par will be destroyed,\par but I have the Rock {\cf2\super [420]} I love.\par I have God forever!\par
When I am afraid,\par I put my trust in you.\parI trust God, so I am not afraid\par of what people can do to me!\par I praise God for his promise to me.\par
My friends, don’t be surprised at the painful things that you are now suffering. Those things are testing your faith. Don’t think that something strange is happening to you.But you should be happy that you are sharing in Christ’s sufferings. You will be happy and full of joy when Christ shows his glory.
I called {\cf2\super [245]} to the Lord, and he heard me.\par He heard my cries.\parThe Lord lifted me out of the grave. {\cf2\super [246]} \par He lifted me from that muddy place. {\cf2\super [247]} \par He picked me up,\par put me on solid ground\par and kept my feet from slipping.\parThe Lord put a new song {\cf2\super [248]} in my mouth,\par a song of praise to my God.\par Many people will see what happened to me,\par and they will worship God.\par They will trust the Lord.\par
But people that trust the Lord\par become strong again\par like eagles that grow new feathers.\par These people run without becoming weak.\par These people walk without becoming tired.\par
I praise the Lord with all my heart.\par Lord, I will tell about all the wonderful things you did.\parYou make me so very happy.\par God Most-High, I praise your name.\par
Keep your lives free from the love of money. And be satisfied with the things you have. God has said,So we can feel sure and say,
I pray that the God who gives hope will fill you with much joy and peace while you trust in him. Then you will have more and more hope, and it will flow out of you by the power of the Holy Spirit. {\cf2\super [150]}
So don’t worry about tomorrow. Each day has enough trouble of its own. Tomorrow will have its own worries.
The things good people hope for bring happiness. The things bad people hope for bring ruin.
Why should I be so sad?\par Why should I be so upset?\par I should wait for God’s help.\par I will get the chance to praise him yet.\par He will save me!\par
We must not become tired of doing good. We will receive our harvest \{of eternal life\} at the right time. We must not give up!
I am telling you these things, but it is not because I need something. I have learned to be satisfied with the things I have and with everything that happens.I know how to live when I am poor. And I know how to live when I have plenty. I have learned the secret of being happy at any time in everything that happens. I have learned to be happy when I have enough to eat and when I don’t have enough to eat. I have learned to be happy when I have all the things I need and when I don’t have the things I need.
Remember those days when you first learned the truth. You had a hard struggle with many sufferings, but you continued strong.Sometimes people said hateful things to you and persecuted {\cf2\super [141]} you before many people. And sometimes you helped other people who were being treated that same way.Yes, you helped those people in prison and shared in their suffering. And you were still happy when all the things you owned were taken away from you. You continued to be happy, because you knew that you had something much better—something that would continue forever.
The Lord is close to every person\par who calls to him for help.\par The Lord is close to every person\par who truly worships him.\par
Don’t worry, I am with you.\par Don’t be afraid, I am your God.\par I will make you strong.\par I will help you.\par I will support you with my good\par right hand.\par
We have much sadness, but we are always rejoicing. We are poor, but we are making many people rich \{in faith\}. We have nothing, but really we have everything.
God, you are the Holy One.\par You sit as King.\par The praises of Israel are your throne.\par
All I want is to know Christ and the power of his rising from death. I want to share in Christ’s sufferings and become like him in his death.
Lord, make us free again,\par like desert streams filled again\par with flowing water.\par
He will not be afraid of bad news.\par That person is confident\par because he trusts the Lord.\par
We have been made right with God because of our faith. So we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.Through our faith, Christ has brought us into that blessing of God’s grace (kindness) that we now enjoy. And we are very happy because of the hope we have of sharing God’s glory.
Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. God is the Father who is full of mercy. He is the God of all comfort.He comforts us every time we have trouble, so that we can comfort other people any time they have trouble. We can comfort them with the same comfort that God gives us.
Lord, I praise you!\par You made me in an amazing and wonderful way.\par I know very well that what you did\par is wonderful!\par
Lord, you give true peace\par to people who depend on you,\par to people who trust you.\par
What great blessings there are for the people that are sad now!\par God will comfort them.\par
So, defeat my enemies\par when I call to you for help.\par I know you can do it.\par You are God!\par
Yes, you will suffer for a short time. But after that, God will make everything right. He will make you strong. He will support you and keep you from falling. He is the God that gives all grace (kindness). He called you to share in his glory in Christ. That glory will continue forever.
You will teach me the right way to live.\par Just being with you, Lord, will bring\par complete happiness.\par Being at your right side will bring\par happiness forever.\par
The law put a curse on us. But Christ took away that curse. He changed places with us. Christ put himself under that curse. The Scriptures say, “When a person’s body is put (hung) on a tree, {\cf2\super [32]} that person is under a curse.” {\cf2\super [33]}Christ did this so that God’s blessing could be given to all people. God promised this blessing to Abraham. The blessing comes through Jesus Christ. \{Christ died\} so that we could have the Spirit {\cf2\super [34]} that God promised. We receive this promise by believing.
We have sufferings now. But the sufferings we have now are nothing compared to the great glory that will be given to us.
This God is our God\par forever and ever!\par He will lead us forever! {\cf2\super [290]} \par
The Lord will always lead you. He will satisfy your soul in dry lands. The Lord will give strength to your bones. You will be like a garden that has much water. You will be like a spring that always has water.
Lord, our God, you have done many wonderful things!\par You have wonderful plans for us.\par No person could list them all!\par I will tell again and again about\par those things\par that are too many to count.\par
We have this treasure \{from God\}. But we are only like clay jars that hold the treasure. This shows that this great power is from God, not from us.We have troubles all around us, but we are not defeated. We often don’t know what to do, but we don’t give up.We are persecuted, but God does not leave us. We are hurt sometimes, but we are not destroyed.
My followers will call to me for help,\par and I will answer them.\par I will be with them when they have trouble.\par I will rescue them and honor them.\par
Who were those people who heard God’s voice and were against him? It was all those people that Moses led out of Egypt.
God began doing good things with you. And God is continuing that work in you. God will finish that work in you when Jesus Christ comes again. I am sure of that.
Jacob, the Lord made you! Israel, the Lord made you! And now the Lord says, “Don’t be afraid! I saved you. I named you. You are mine.
In the kingdom of God, eating and drinking are not important. In the kingdom of God, the important things are these: living right with God, peace, and joy in the Holy Spirit. {\cf2\super [143]}
I was very happy to learn about some of your children. I am happy that they are following the way of truth, like the Father (God) commanded us.
Praise the Lord!\par A person who fears and respects the Lord will be very happy.\par That person loves God’s commands.\parHis descendants {\cf2\super [579]} will be great on earth.\par The descendants of good people\par will be truly blessed.\par
“The Lord makes me very, very happy.\par My whole self is happy in my God.\par The Lord put the clothes of salvation on me.\par These clothes are like the nice clothes\par a man wears at his wedding.\par The Lord put the coat of goodness on me.\par This coat is like the beautiful clothes\par a woman wears at her wedding.\par
Even if I walk through a valley\par as dark as the grave, {\cf2\super [140]} \par I will not be afraid of any danger.\par Why? Because you are with me, Lord.\par Your rod and staff {\cf2\super [141]} comfort me.\par
You have not seen Christ, but still you love him. You can’t see him now, but you believe in him. You are filled with a joy that cannot be explained. And that joy is full of glory.
But the Spirit {\cf2\super [74]} gives love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,
So through Jesus we should never stop offering our sacrifice to God. That sacrifice is our praise, coming from lips that speak his name.
So what should we say about this? If God is for us, then no person can stand against us. And God is with us.He even let his own Son suffer for us. God gave his Son for us all. So with Jesus now, God will surely give us all things.
Lord, you did good things for me,\par your servant.\par You did exactly what you promised to do.\par
God, if I am in trouble,\par keep me alive.\par If my enemies are angry at me,\par save me from them.\par
But the Lord is my place of safety\par high on the mountain.\par God my Rock, {\cf2\super [524]} is my safe place!\par
Some poor people are sad all the time. But for people with happiness in their hearts, life is one big party.
God saves me.\par I trust him.\par I am not afraid.\par He saves me.\par The Lord YAH is my strength.\par He saves me.\par And I sing songs of praise about him. {\cf2\super [139]} \par
God is faithful. He is the One who has called you to share life with his Son, Jesus Christ our Lord.
My enemies are really smooth talkers;\par they talk about peace,\par but they are really planning wars.\par Their words are as slick as oil,\par but those words cut like a knife.\par
The Spirit {\cf2\super [4]} God gave us does not make us afraid. He is our source of power and love and self control.
\{I prayed and you helped me!\}\par You changed my crying into dancing.\par You took away my clothes of sadness.\par And you wrapped me in happiness.\parLord, my God, I will praise you forever,\par so there will never be silence,\par and there will always be someone\par singing songs to honor you.\par
My friends, don’t try to punish people when they do wrong to you. Wait for God to punish them with his anger. It is written: “I am the One who punishes; I will pay people back,” {\cf2\super [132]} says the Lord.
Lord, judge me.\par Prove that I have lived a pure life.\par I never stopped trusting the Lord.\parLord, try me and test me.\par Look closely into my heart and mind.\par
My brothers and sisters, God called you to be free. But don’t use your freedom as an excuse to do the things that please your sinful selves. But serve each other with love.

The only temptations that you have are the same temptations that all people have. But you can trust God. He will not let you be tempted more than you can bear. But when you are tempted, God will also give you a way to escape that temptation. Then you will be able to endure it.

My dear children, you belong to God. So you have defeated them (the false teachers). Why? Because the One (God) who is in you is greater than the one (the devil) who is in \{the people of\} the world.
But, Lord, you are my shield.\par You are my Glory.\par Lord, you make me important! {\cf2\super [8]} \par
The “Yes” to all of God’s promises is in Christ. And that is why we say “Amen {\cf2\super [3]} ” through Christ to the glory of God.
The Lord watches and cares\par for his followers that wait for him\par to show his true love.\par
You should feel sorry for hungry people and give them food. You should help the people that are troubled—satisfy their needs. Then your light will shine in the darkness. And you will have no sadness. You will be bright like sunshine at noon.The Lord will always lead you. He will satisfy your soul in dry lands. The Lord will give strength to your bones. You will be like a garden that has much water. You will be like a spring that always has water.

But we are not those people who turn back and are lost. No. We are the people who have faith and are saved.
And we are also happy with the troubles we have. Why are we happy with troubles? Because we know that these troubles make us more patient.
The Lord helps weak people to be strong.\par He causes the people without power to become powerful.\parYoung men become tired and need to rest.\par Even young boys stumble and fall.\parBut people that trust the Lord\par become strong again\par like eagles that grow new feathers.\par These people run without becoming weak.\par These people walk without becoming tired.\par
The Lord is with me,\par so I will not be afraid.\par People can’t do anything to hurt me.\parThe Lord is my helper.\par I will see my enemies defeated.\par
I am waiting for the Lord to help me.\par My soul waits for him.\par I trust what the Lord says.\par
Those people who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified (killed) their own sinful selves. They have given up their old selfish feelings and the evil things they wanted to do.
Be sure that you live in a way that fits the Good News {\cf2\super [11]} of Christ. Then if I come and visit you or if I am away from you, I will hear good things about you. I will hear that you continue strong with the same purpose and work together like a team for the faith (truth) that comes from the Good News.
Lord, if I go east where the sun rises,\par you are there.\par If I go west to the sea,\par you are there.\parEven there your right hand holds me,\par and you lead me by the hand.\par
We have small troubles for a while now, but those troubles are helping us gain an eternal glory. That eternal glory is much greater than the troubles.

Brothers and sisters, I know that I have not yet reached that goal. But there is one thing I always do: I forget the things that are past. I try as hard as I can to reach the goal that is before me.I keep trying to reach the goal and get the prize. That prize is mine because God called me through Christ to the life above.
At times like this,\par people are very happy.\par People are very happy\par if the Lord is their God.\par
Trust the Lord completely! Don’t depend on your own knowledge.Think about God in all that you do. Then he will help you.
