Regard it all as joy, my brothers, when you face various kinds of temptations;for a person’s anger does not accomplish God’s righteousness! So rid yourselves of all vulgarity and obvious evil, and receive meekly the Word implanted in you that can save your lives.Don’t deceive yourselves by only hearing what the Word says, but do it!For whoever hears the Word but doesn’t do what it says is like someone who looks at his face in a mirror, who looks at himself, goes away and immediately forgets what he looks like. But if a person looks closely into the perfect Torah, which gives freedom, and continues, becoming not a forgetful hearer but a doer of the work it requires, then he will be blessed in what he does.Anyone who thinks he is religiously observant but does not control his tongue is deceiving himself, and his observance counts for nothing. The religious observance that God the Father considers pure and faultless is this: to care for orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being contaminated by the world.for you know that the testing of your trust produces perseverance.
But not only that, let us also boast in our troubles; because we know that trouble produces endurance, endurance produces character, and character produces hope;and this hope does not let us down, because God’s love for us has already been poured out in our hearts through the Ruach HaKodesh who has been given to us.
Rejoice in this, even though for a little while you may have to experience grief in various trials.Even gold is tested for genuineness by fire. The purpose of these trials is so that your trust’s genuineness, which is far more valuable than perishable gold, will be judged worthy of praise, glory and honor at the revealing of Yeshua the Messiah.
By David, when he pretended to be insane before Avimelekh, who then drove him away; so he left:
Furthermore, we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called in accordance with his purpose;
Always be joyful.Pray regularly. In everything give thanks, for this is what God wants from you who are united with the Messiah Yeshua.
Those who sow in tears will reap with cries of joy.He who goes out weeping as he carries his sack of seed will come home with cries of joy as he carries his sheaves of grain.
yes, provide for those in Tziyon who mourn, giving them garlands instead of ashes, the oil of gladness instead of mourning, a cloak of praise instead of a heavy spirit, so that they will be called oaks of righteousness planted by Adonai, in which he takes pride.
So then, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us, too, put aside every impediment — that is, the sin which easily hampers our forward movement — and keep running with endurance in the contest set before us,For they disciplined us only for a short time and only as best they could; but he disciplines us in a way that provides genuine benefit to us and enables us to share in his holiness. Now, all discipline, while it is happening, does indeed seem painful, not enjoyable; but for those who have been trained by it, it later produces its peaceful fruit, which is righteousness. So, strengthen your drooping arms, and steady your tottering knees;and make a level path for your feet; so that what has been injured will not get wrenched out of joint but rather will be healed.Keep pursuing shalom with everyone and the holiness without which no one will see the Lord.See to it that no one misses out on God’s grace, that no root of bitterness springing up causes trouble and thus contaminates many, and that no one is sexually immoral, or godless like Esav, who in exchange for a single meal gave up his rights as the firstborn. For you know that afterwards, when he wanted to obtain his father’s blessing, he was rejected; indeed, even though he sought it with tears, his change of heart was to no avail. For you have not come to a tangible mountain, to an ignited fire, to darkness, to murk, to a whirlwind,to the sound of a shofar, and to a voice whose words made the hearers beg that no further message be given to them —looking away to the Initiator and Completer of that trusting, Yeshua — who, in exchange for obtaining the joy set before him, endured execution on a stake as a criminal, scorning the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.
“How blessed are those who are persecuted because they pursue righteousness! for the Kingdom of Heaven is theirs.“How blessed you are when people insult you and persecute you and tell all kinds of vicious lies about you because you follow me!Rejoice, be glad, because your reward in heaven is great — they persecuted the prophets before you in the same way.
We pray that you will be continually strengthened with all the power that comes from his glorious might; so that you will be able to persevere and be patient in any situation, joyfully
When you pass through water, I will be with you; when you pass through rivers, they will not overwhelm you; when you walk through fire, you will not be scorched — the flame will not burn you.
Only conduct your lives in a way worthy of the Good News of the Messiah; so that whether I come and see you or I hear about you from a distance, you stand firm, united in spirit, fighting with one accord for the faith of the Good News,not frightened by anything the opposition does. This will be for them an indication that they are headed for destruction and you for deliverance. And this is from God;
My adversaries’ taunts make me feel as if my bones were crushed, as they ask me all day long, ‘Where is your God?’ ”
This is why we do not lose courage. Though our outer self is heading for decay, our inner self is being renewed daily. For our light and transient troubles are achieving for us an everlasting glory whose weight is beyond description. We concentrate not on what is seen but on what is not seen, since things seen are temporary, but things not seen are eternal.
“Come to me, all of you who are struggling and burdened, and I will give you rest.Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, because I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.asking, “Are you the one who is to come, or should we look for someone else?”For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.”
Love Adonai, you faithful of his. Adonai preserves the loyal, but the proud he repays in full.
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, humility, self control. Nothing in the Torah stands against such things.
Those who are lying in wait for me would trample on me all day. For those fighting against me are many. Most High, when I am afraid, I put my trust in you.
Dear friends, don’t regard as strange the fiery ordeal occurring among you to test you, as if something extraordinary were happening to you.Rather, to the extent that you share the fellowship of the Messiah’s sufferings, rejoice; so that you will rejoice even more when his Sh’khinah is revealed.
For the leader. A psalm of David:I have proclaimed what is right in the great assembly; I did not restrain my lips, Adonai, as you know.I did not hide your righteousness in my heart but declared your faithfulness and salvation; I did not conceal your grace and truth from the great assembly.”Adonai, don’t withhold your mercy from me. Let your grace and truth preserve me always. For numberless evils surround me; my iniquities engulf me — I can’t even see; there are more of them than hairs on my head, so that my courage fails me.Be pleased, Adonai, to rescue me! Adonai, hurry and help me!May those who seek to sweep me away be disgraced and humiliated together. May those who take pleasure in doing me harm be turned back and put to confusion.May those who jeer at me, “Aha! Aha!” be aghast because of their shame. But may all those who seek you be glad and take joy in you. May those who love your salvation say always, “Adonai is great and glorious!”But I am poor and needy; may Adonai think of me. You are my helper and rescuer; my God, don’t delay!I waited patiently for Adonai, till he turned toward me and heard my cry.He brought me up from the roaring pit, up from the muddy ooze, and set my feet on a rock, making my footing firm.
but those who hope in Adonai will renew their strength, they will soar aloft as with eagles’ wings; when they are running they won’t grow weary, when they are walking they won’t get tired.
Is someone among you in trouble? He should pray. Is someone feeling good? He should sing songs of praise.
For the leader. On the death of Labben. A psalm of David:Adonai is a stronghold for the oppressed, a tower of strength in times of trouble. Those who know your name put their trust in you, for you have not abandoned those who seek you, Adonai.Sing praises to Adonai, who lives in Tziyon; proclaim his deeds among the peoples. For the avenger of blood remembers them, he does not ignore the cry of the afflicted:“Have mercy on me, Adonai! See how I suffer from those who hate me; you raise me from the gates of death,so that I can proclaim all your praises at the gates of the daughter of Tziyon and rejoice in this deliverance of yours.”The nations have drowned in the pit they dug, caught their own feet in the net they hid.Adonai made himself known and executed judgment; the wicked are ensnared in the work of their own hands. (Higgayon; Selah)The wicked will return to Sh’ol, all the nations that forget God.For the poor will not always be forgotten or the hope of the needy perish forever.I give thanks to Adonai with all my heart. I will tell about all your wonderful deeds.
Keep your lives free from the love of money; and be satisfied with what you have; for God himself has said, “I will never fail you or abandon you.”Therefore, we say with confidence, “Adonai is my helper; I will not be afraid — what can a human being do to me?”
but thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Yeshua the Messiah!
May God, the source of hope, fill you completely with joy and shalom as you continue trusting, so that by the power of the Ruach HaKodesh you may overflow with hope.
Don’t worry about tomorrow — tomorrow will worry about itself! Today has enough tsuris already!
What the righteous hope for will end in joy; what the wicked expect will come to nothing.
I recall, as my feelings well up within me, how I’d go with the crowd to the house of God, with sounds of joy and praise from the throngs observing the festival.
So let us not grow weary of doing what is good; for if we don’t give up, we will in due time reap the harvest.
Not that I am saying this to call attention to any need of mine; since, as far as I am concerned, I have learned to be content regardless of circumstances.I know what it is to be in want, and I know what it is to have more than enough — in everything and in every way I have learned the secret of being full and being hungry, of having abundance and being in need.
But remember the earlier days, when, after you had received the light, you endured a hard struggle with sufferings.Sometimes you were publicly disgraced and persecuted, while at other times you stood loyally by those who were treated this way.For you shared the sufferings of those who had been put in prison. Also when your possessions were seized, you accepted it gladly; since you knew that what you possessed was better and would last forever.
Don’t be afraid, for I am with you; don’t be distressed, for I am your God. I give you strength, I give you help, I support you with my victorious right hand.
as having reason to be sad, yet always filled with joy; as poor, yet making many people rich; as having nothing, yet having everything!
My God, by day I call to you, but you don’t answer; likewise at night, but I get no relief.
Yes, I gave it all up in order to know him, that is, to know the power of his resurrection and the fellowship of his sufferings as I am being conformed to his death,
So, since we have come to be considered righteous by God because of our trust, let us continue to have shalom with God through our Lord, Yeshua the Messiah. For if we were reconciled with God through his Son’s death when we were enemies, how much more will we be delivered by his life, now that we are reconciled! And not only will we be delivered in the future, but we are boasting about God right now, because he has acted through our Lord Yeshua the Messiah, through whom we have already received that reconciliation. Here is how it works: it was through one individual that sin entered the world, and through sin, death; and in this way death passed through to the whole human race, inasmuch as everyone sinned.Sin was indeed present in the world before Torah was given, but sin is not counted as such when there is no Torah.Nevertheless death ruled from Adam until Moshe, even over those whose sinning was not exactly like Adam’s violation of a direct command. In this, Adam prefigured the one who was to come. But the free gift is not like the offence. For if, because of one man’s offence, many died, then how much more has God’s grace, that is, the gracious gift of one man, Yeshua the Messiah, overflowed to many! No, the free gift is not like what resulted from one man’s sinning; for from one sinner came judgment that brought condemnation; but the free gift came after many offences and brought acquittal. For if, because of the offence of one man, death ruled through that one man; how much more will those receiving the overflowing grace, that is, the gift of being considered righteous, rule in life through the one man Yeshua the Messiah! In other words, just as it was through one offence that all people came under condemnation, so also it is through one righteous act that all people come to be considered righteous. For just as through the disobedience of the one man, many were made sinners, so also through the obedience of the other man, many will be made righteous. Also through him and on the ground of our trust, we have gained access to this grace in which we stand; so let us boast about the hope of experiencing God’s glory.
Praised be God, Father of our Lord Yeshua the Messiah, compassionate Father, God of all encouragement and comfort;who encourages us in all our trials, so that we can encourage others in whatever trials they may be undergoing with the encouragement we ourselves have received from God.
I thank you because I am awesomely made, wonderfully; your works are wonders — I know this very well.
“A person whose desire rests on you you preserve in perfect peace, because he trusts in you.
You have kept count of my wanderings; store my tears in your water-skin — aren’t they already recorded in your book?
You will have to suffer only a little while; after that, God, who is full of grace, the one who called you to his eternal glory in union with the Messiah, will himself restore, establish and strengthen you and make you firm.
You make me know the path of life; in your presence is unbounded joy, in your right hand eternal delight.
The Messiah redeemed us from the curse pronounced in the Torah by becoming cursed on our behalf; for the Tanakh says, “Everyone who hangs from a stake comes under a curse.”Yeshua the Messiah did this so that in union with him the Gentiles might receive the blessing announced to Avraham, so that through trusting and being faithful, we might receive what was promised, namely, the Spirit.
I don’t think the sufferings we are going through now are even worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed to us in the future.
Adonai will always guide you; he will satisfy your needs in the desert, he will renew the strength in your limbs; so that you will be like a watered garden, like a spring whose water never fails.
How blessed the man who trusts in Adonai and does not look to the arrogant or to those who rely on things that are false.
But we have this treasure in clay jars, so that it will be evident that such overwhelming power comes from God and not from us.We have all kinds of troubles, but we are not crushed; we are perplexed, yet not in despair;persecuted, yet not abandoned; knocked down, yet not destroyed.
He will call on me, and I will answer him. I will be with him when he is in trouble. I will extricate him and bring him honor.
Therefore, let us confidently approach the throne from which God gives grace, so that we may receive mercy and find grace in our time of need.
And I am sure of this: that the One who began a good work among you will keep it growing until it is completed on the Day of the Messiah Yeshua.
But now this is what Adonai says, he who created you, Ya‘akov, he who formed you, Isra’el: “Don’t be afraid, for I have redeemed you; I am calling you by your name; you are mine.
for the Kingdom of God is not eating and drinking, but righteousness, shalom and joy in the Ruach HaKodesh.
because everything which has God as its Father overcomes the world. And this is what victoriously overcomes the world: our trust.
Halleluyah! How happy is anyone who fears Adonai, who greatly delights in his mitzvot. The wicked will be angry when they see this; they will gnash their teeth and waste away, the desires of the wicked will come to nothing. His descendants will be powerful on earth, a blessed generation of upright people.
I am so joyful in Adonai! My soul rejoices in my God, for he has clothed me in salvation, dressed me with a robe of triumph, like a bridegroom wearing a festive turban, like a bride adorned with her jewels.
Even if I pass through death-dark ravines, I will fear no disaster; for you are with me; your rod and staff reassure me.
Without having seen him, you love him. Without seeing him now, but trusting in him, you continue to be full of joy that is glorious beyond words.
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,
Through him, therefore, let us offer God a sacrifice of praise continually. For this is the natural product of lips that acknowledge his name.
What, then, are we to say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?He who did not spare even his own Son, but gave him up on behalf of us all — is it possible that, having given us his Son, he would not give us everything else too?
You keep me alive when surrounded by danger; you put out your hand when my enemies rage; with your right hand you save me.
neither powers above nor powers below, nor any other created thing will be able to separate us from the love of God which comes to us through the Messiah Yeshua, our Lord.
“See! God is my salvation. I am confident and unafraid; for Yah Adonai is my strength and my song, and he has become my salvation!”
God is trustworthy: it was he who called you into fellowship with his Son, Yeshua the Messiah, our Lord.
What he said sounded smoother than butter, but his heart was at war. His words seemed more soothing than oil, but in fact they were sharp swords.
For God gave us a Spirit who produces not timidity, but power, love and self-discipline.
Hear me, Adonai, and show me your favor! Adonai, be my helper!”You turned my mourning into dancing! You removed my sackcloth and clothed me with joy,
Never seek revenge, my friends; instead, leave that to God’s anger; for in the Tanakh it is written, “Adonai says, ‘Vengeance is my responsibility; I will repay.’”
By David: Vindicate me, Adonai, for I have lived a blameless life; unwaveringly I trust in Adonai. In their hands are evil schemes; their right hands are full of bribes. As for me, I will live a blameless life. Redeem me and show me favor. My feet are planted on level ground; in the assemblies I will bless Adonai.Examine me, Adonai, test me, search my mind and heart.
For, brothers, you were called to be free. Only do not let that freedom become an excuse for allowing your old nature to have its way. Instead, serve one another in love.
My soul, why are you so downcast? Why are you groaning inside me? Hope in God, since I will praise him again for being my Savior and God.
No temptation has seized you beyond what people normally experience, and God can be trusted not to allow you to be tempted beyond what you can bear. On the contrary, along with the temptation he will also provide the way out, so that you will be able to endure.
looking away to the Initiator and Completer of that trusting, Yeshua — who, in exchange for obtaining the joy set before him, endured execution on a stake as a criminal, scorning the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.
For sin will not have authority over you; because you are not under legalism but under grace.
Moreover, my God will fill every need of yours according to his glorious wealth, in union with the Messiah Yeshua.
You, children, are from God and have overcome the false prophets, because he who is in you is greater than he who is in the world.
For however many promises God has made, they all find their “Yes” in connection with him; that is why it is through him that we say the “Amen” when we give glory to God.
generously offer food to the hungry and meet the needs of the person in trouble; then your light will rise in the darkness, and your gloom become like noon.Adonai will always guide you; he will satisfy your needs in the desert, he will renew the strength in your limbs; so that you will be like a watered garden, like a spring whose water never fails.
In everything give thanks, for this is what God wants from you who are united with the Messiah Yeshua.
However, we are not the kind who shrink back and are destroyed; on the contrary, we keep trusting and thus preserve our lives!
But not only that, let us also boast in our troubles; because we know that trouble produces endurance,
He invigorates the exhausted, he gives strength to the powerless.A voice cries out: “Clear a road through the desert for Adonai! Level a highway in the ‘Aravah for our God!Young men may grow tired and weary, even the fittest may stumble and fall;but those who hope in Adonai will renew their strength, they will soar aloft as with eagles’ wings; when they are running they won’t grow weary, when they are walking they won’t get tired.
With Adonai on my side, I fear nothing — what can human beings do to me?With Adonai on my side as my help, I will look with triumph at those who hate me.
Moreover, those who belong to the Messiah Yeshua have put their old nature to death on the stake, along with its passions and desires.
Only conduct your lives in a way worthy of the Good News of the Messiah; so that whether I come and see you or I hear about you from a distance, you stand firm, united in spirit, fighting with one accord for the faith of the Good News,
Therefore, if anyone is united with the Messiah, he is a new creation — the old has passed; look, what has come is fresh and new!
You are my helper and rescuer; my God, don’t delay!I waited patiently for Adonai, till he turned toward me and heard my cry.
Brothers, I, for my part, do not think of myself as having yet gotten hold of it; but one thing I do: forgetting what is behind me and straining forward toward what lies ahead,I keep pursuing the goal in order to win the prize offered by God’s upward calling in the Messiah Yeshua.
How happy the people who live in such conditions! How happy the people whose God is Adonai!
Trust in Adonai with all your heart; do not rely on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him; then he will level your paths.
Put your hope in Adonai, be strong, and let your heart take courage! Yes, put your hope in Adonai!
