My brothers, count it all joy when you fall into divers temptations;Knowing this, that the trying of your faith works patience.
And not only so, but we glory in tribulations also: knowing that tribulation works patience;And patience, experience; and experience, hope:And hope makes not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given to us.
Wherein you greatly rejoice, though now for a season, if need be, you are in heaviness through manifold temptations:That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perishes, though it be tried with fire, might be found to praise and honor and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ:
For his anger endures but a moment; in his favor is life: weeping may endure for a night, but joy comes in the morning.
And he said to me, My grace is sufficient for you: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest on me.Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in necessities, in persecutions, in distresses for Christ's sake: for when I am weak, then am I strong.
And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.
Rejoice ever more.Pray without ceasing.In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.
They that sow in tears shall reap in joy.He that goes forth and weeps, bearing precious seed, shall doubtless come again with rejoicing, bringing his sheaves with him.
To appoint to them that mourn in Zion, to give to them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they might be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the LORD, that he might be glorified.
Why seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which does so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us,Looking to Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.
Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness' sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.Blessed are you, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake.Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great is your reward in heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you.
Strengthened with all might, according to his glorious power, to all patience and long-suffering with joyfulness;
When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow you: when you walk through the fire, you shall not be burned; neither shall the flame kindle on you.
The LORD also will be a refuge for the oppressed, a refuge in times of trouble.And they that know your name will put their trust in you: for you, LORD, have not forsaken them that seek you.
Only let your conversation be as it becomes the gospel of Christ: that whether I come and see you, or else be absent, I may hear of your affairs, that you stand fast in one spirit, with one mind striving together for the faith of the gospel;And in nothing terrified by your adversaries: which is to them an evident token of perdition, but to you of salvation, and that of God.
Why are you cast down, O my soul? and why are you disquieted within me? hope you in God: for I shall yet praise him, who is the health of my countenance, and my God.
For which cause we faint not; but though our outward man perish, yet the inward man is renewed day by day.For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, works for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory;While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal.
Come to me, all you that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.Take my yoke on you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and you shall find rest to your souls.For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, long-suffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.
A merry heart makes a cheerful countenance: but by sorrow of the heart the spirit is broken.
My flesh and my heart fails: but God is the strength of my heart, and my portion for ever.
What time I am afraid, I will trust in you.In God I will praise his word, in God I have put my trust; I will not fear what flesh can do to me.
Let, I pray you, your merciful kindness be for my comfort, according to your word to your servant.
Beloved, think it not strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened to you:But rejoice, inasmuch as you are partakers of Christ's sufferings; that, when his glory shall be revealed, you may be glad also with exceeding joy.
I waited patiently for the LORD; and he inclined to me, and heard my cry.He brought me up also out of an horrible pit, out of the miry clay, and set my feet on a rock, and established my goings.And he has put a new song in my mouth, even praise to our God: many shall see it, and fear, and shall trust in the LORD.
But they that wait on the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.
I will praise you, O LORD, with my whole heart; I will show forth all your marvelous works.I will be glad and rejoice in you: I will sing praise to your name, O you most High.
Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as you have: for he has said, I will never leave you, nor forsake you.So that we may boldly say, The Lord is my helper, and I will not fear what man shall do to me.
Now the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that you may abound in hope, through the power of the Holy Ghost.
Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient to the day is the evil thereof.
The hope of the righteous shall be gladness: but the expectation of the wicked shall perish.
Why are you cast down, O my soul? and why are you disquieted in me? hope you in God: for I shall yet praise him for the help of his countenance.
And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.
Not that I speak in respect of want: for I have learned, in whatever state I am, therewith to be content.I know both how to be abased, and I know how to abound: every where and in all things I am instructed both to be full and to be hungry, both to abound and to suffer need.
But call to remembrance the former days, in which, after you were illuminated, you endured a great fight of afflictions;Partly, whilst you were made a spectacle both by reproaches and afflictions; and partly, whilst you became companions of them that were so used.For you had compassion of me in my bonds, and took joyfully the spoiling of your goods, knowing in yourselves that you have in heaven a better and an enduring substance.
Fear you not; for I am with you: be not dismayed; for I am your God: I will strengthen you; yes, I will help you; yes, I will uphold you with the right hand of my righteousness.
As sorrowful, yet always rejoicing; as poor, yet making many rich; as having nothing, and yet possessing all things.
That I may know him, and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings, being made conformable to his death;
Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ:By whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God.
Blessed be God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies, and the God of all comfort;Who comforts us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort them which are in any trouble, by the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted of God.
I will praise you; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvelous are your works; and that my soul knows right well.
You will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on you: because he trusts in you.
But the God of all grace, who has called us to his eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after that you have suffered a while, make you perfect, establish, strengthen, settle you.
You will show me the path of life: in your presence is fullness of joy; at your right hand there are pleasures for ever more.
Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangs on a tree:That the blessing of Abraham might come on the Gentiles through Jesus Christ; that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.
For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us.
And the LORD shall guide you continually, and satisfy your soul in drought, and make fat your bones: and you shall be like a watered garden, and like a spring of water, whose waters fail not.
Many, O LORD my God, are your wonderful works which you have done, and your thoughts which are to us-ward: they cannot be reckoned up in order to you: if I would declare and speak of them, they are more than can be numbered.
But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellency of the power may be of God, and not of us.We are troubled on every side, yet not distressed; we are perplexed, but not in despair;Persecuted, but not forsaken; cast down, but not destroyed;
He shall call on me, and I will answer him: I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him, and honor him.
Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.
Being confident of this very thing, that he which has begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ:
But now thus said the LORD that created you, O Jacob, and he that formed you, O Israel, Fear not: for I have redeemed you, I have called you by your name; you are mine.
For the kingdom of God is not meat and drink; but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost.
For whatever is born of God overcomes the world: and this is the victory that overcomes the world, even our faith.
Praise you the LORD. Blessed is the man that fears the LORD, that delights greatly in his commandments.His seed shall be mighty on earth: the generation of the upright shall be blessed.
I will greatly rejoice in the LORD, my soul shall be joyful in my God; for he has clothed me with the garments of salvation, he has covered me with the robe of righteousness, as a bridegroom decks himself with ornaments, and as a bride adorns herself with her jewels.
Yes, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for you are with me; your rod and your staff they comfort me.
Whom having not seen, you love; in whom, though now you see him not, yet believing, you rejoice with joy unspeakable and full of glory:
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, long-suffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,
By him therefore let us offer the sacrifice of praise to God continually, that is, the fruit of our lips giving thanks to his name.
What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us?He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things?
Though I walk in the middle of trouble, you will revive me: you shall stretch forth your hand against the wrath of my enemies, and your right hand shall save me.
All the days of the afflicted are evil: but he that is of a merry heart has a continual feast.
Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Behold, God is my salvation; I will trust, and not be afraid: for the LORD JEHOVAH is my strength and my song; he also is become my salvation.
God is faithful, by whom you were called to the fellowship of his Son Jesus Christ our Lord.
Cast your burden on the LORD, and he shall sustain you: he shall never suffer the righteous to be moved.
For God has not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.
You have turned for me my mourning into dancing: you have put off my sackcloth, and girded me with gladness;To the end that my glory may sing praise to you, and not be silent. O LORD my God, I will give thanks to you for ever.
Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give place to wrath: for it is written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, said the Lord.
Judge me, O LORD; for I have walked in my integrity: I have trusted also in the LORD; therefore I shall not slide.Examine me, O LORD, and prove me; try my reins and my heart.
For, brothers, you have been called to liberty; only use not liberty for an occasion to the flesh, but by love serve one another.
Why are you cast down, O my soul? and why are you disquieted within me? hope in God: for I shall yet praise him, who is the health of my countenance, and my God.
There has no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that you are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that you may be able to bear it.
Looking to Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.
For sin shall not have dominion over you: for you are not under the law, but under grace.
But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.
You are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.
For all the promises of God in him are yes, and in him Amen, to the glory of God by us.
And if you draw out your soul to the hungry, and satisfy the afflicted soul; then shall your light rise in obscurity, and your darkness be as the noon day:And the LORD shall guide you continually, and satisfy your soul in drought, and make fat your bones: and you shall be like a watered garden, and like a spring of water, whose waters fail not.
In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.
For evildoers shall be cut off: but those that wait on the LORD, they shall inherit the earth.For yet a little while, and the wicked shall not be: yes, you shall diligently consider his place, and it shall not be.But the meek shall inherit the earth; and shall delight themselves in the abundance of peace.
But we are not of them who draw back to perdition; but of them that believe to the saving of the soul.
And not only so, but we glory in tribulations also: knowing that tribulation works patience;
He gives power to the faint; and to them that have no might he increases strength.Even the youths shall faint and be weary, and the young men shall utterly fall:But they that wait on the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.
The LORD is on my side; I will not fear: what can man do to me?The LORD takes my part with them that help me: therefore shall I see my desire on them that hate me.
Only let your conversation be as it becomes the gospel of Christ: that whether I come and see you, or else be absent, I may hear of your affairs, that you stand fast in one spirit, with one mind striving together for the faith of the gospel;
If I take the wings of the morning, and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea;Even there shall your hand lead me, and your right hand shall hold me.
Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.
I waited patiently for the LORD; and he inclined to me, and heard my cry.He brought me up also out of an horrible pit, out of the miry clay, and set my feet on a rock, and established my goings.
Brothers, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth to those things which are before,I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.
Happy is that people, that is in such a case: yes, happy is that people, whose God is the LORD.
Trust in the LORD with all your heart; and lean not to your own understanding.In all your ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct your paths.
Wait on the LORD: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen your heart: wait, I say, on the LORD.
