In the Old Testament, they celebrated joy with feasts and festivals. My joy comes from discovering God's will for my life, which the Bible reveals is good, pleasing, and perfect. It's not about what's happening around me or how I'm feeling at the moment, but about finding true joy in the salvation I have in Jesus.
I want to encourage you today to let go of any sadness you're holding onto. Cast out bitterness and resentment from your heart, and let the everlasting joy of Jesus flood your soul. You'll find you have so much to smile about, and so much less to feel down about.
Think about it: everything around you was created by God for your enjoyment. So smile for Him, and let your heart overflow with love in His presence. That gray sky will soon disappear, and He’ll paint a rainbow just for you.

But I remember these things as I bare my soul: how I made my way to the mighty one’s abode, to God’s own house, with joyous shouts and thanksgiving songs— a huge crowd celebrating the festival!

The LORD is my strength and my shield. My heart trusts him. I was helped, my heart rejoiced, and I thank him with my song.

Though the fig tree doesn’t bloom, and there’s no produce on the vine; though the olive crop withers, and the fields don’t provide food; though the sheep are cut off from the pen, and there are no cattle in the stalls;I will rejoice in the LORD. I will rejoice in the God of my deliverance.

Deceit is in the heart of those who plan evil, but there is joy for those who advise peace.
because God gives wisdom, knowledge, and joy to those who please God. But to those who are offensive, God gives the task of hoarding and accumulating, but only so as to give it all to those who do please God. This too is pointless and a chasing after wind.
Also, whenever God gives people wealth and riches and enables them to enjoy it, to accept their place in the world and to find pleasure in their hard work—all this is God’s gift.

Happy are you who hunger now, because you will be satisfied. Happy are you who weep now, because you will laugh.
Nevertheless, don’t rejoice because the spirits submit to you. Rejoice instead that your names are written in heaven.”
In the same way, I tell you, there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who changes both heart and life than over ninety-nine righteous people who have no need to change their hearts and lives.

When you see this, your heart will rejoice; your entire being will flourish like grass. The LORD’s power will be known among his servants, but his fury among his enemies.
Again, I will build you up, and you will be rebuilt, virgin Israel. Again, you will play your tambourines and dance with joy.
the sounds of joy and laughter and the voices of the bride and the bridegroom will again be heard. So will the voices of those who say, as thank offerings are brought to the LORD’s temple, “Give thanks to the LORD of heavenly forces, for the LORD is good and his kindness lasts forever.” I will bring back the captives of this land as they were before, says the LORD.
