I've found that true contentment is something you can only really grasp and hold onto when God is at the center of your life. It's about finding that deep sense of satisfaction and thankfulness, no matter what life throws your way.
The Bible teaches us that contentment is a virtue we should all strive for. It's what brings us peace and joy, regardless of our circumstances. It's not always easy, but it's definitely worth pursuing.
There's this passage in Philippians 4:11-13 where Paul talks about his own experience with contentment. He says, "I am not saying this because I am in need, for I have learned to be content whatever the circumstances. I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want. I can do all this through him who gives me strength." That's powerful stuff, right?
Paul's words show us that contentment isn't about how much stuff we have or what we've accomplished. It's about our relationship with God and our trust in Him. It's about accepting where we are right now, knowing that in every season, in every situation, we can experience God's love and provision.
Just like Paul, we can learn to be content in both good times and bad. We can find that sweet spot of satisfaction knowing that through Christ, we have the strength to face anything.
I know how to live when I am poor. And I know how to live when I have plenty. I have learned the secret of being happy at any time in everything that happens. I have learned to be happy when I have enough to eat and when I don’t have enough to eat. I have learned to be happy when I have all the things I need and when I don’t have the things I need.
When we came into the world, we brought nothing. And when we die, we can take nothing out.So, if we have food and clothes, we will be satisfied with that.
I am telling you these things, but it is not because I need something. I have learned to be satisfied with the things I have and with everything that happens.I know how to live when I am poor. And I know how to live when I have plenty. I have learned the secret of being happy at any time in everything that happens. I have learned to be happy when I have enough to eat and when I don’t have enough to eat. I have learned to be happy when I have all the things I need and when I don’t have the things I need.I can do all things through Christ, because he gives me strength.
It is true that serving God makes a person very rich, if that person is satisfied with what he has.When we came into the world, we brought nothing. And when we die, we can take nothing out.So, if we have food and clothes, we will be satisfied with that.
Keep your lives free from the love of money. And be satisfied with the things you have. God has said,

So I am happy when I have weaknesses. I am happy when people say bad things to me. I am happy when I have hard times. I am happy when people treat me badly. And I am happy when I have problems. All these things are for Christ. And I am happy with these things, because when I am weak, then I am truly strong.
“So I tell you, don’t worry about the food you need to live. And don’t worry about the clothes you need for your body. Life is more important than food. And the body is more important than clothes.Look at the birds. They don’t plant or harvest or save food in barns. But your heavenly Father feeds those birds. And you know that you are worth much more than the birds.
Then Jesus said to them. “Be careful and guard against all kinds of greed. A person does not get life from the many things he owns.”
The Lord is my shepherd.\par I will always have everything I need. {\cf2\super [138]} \par
Live together in peace with each other. Don’t be proud. Be willing to be friends with people who are not important to other people. Don’t be conceited.
Lord, I am not proud.\par I don’t try to act important.\par I don’t try to do great things.\par I don’t worry about things\par that are too hard for me.\parI am calm.\par My soul is quiet.\par
“So I tell you, don’t worry about the food you need to live. And don’t worry about the clothes you need for your body. Life is more important than food. And the body is more important than clothes.
God wants every person to eat, drink, and enjoy his work. These are gifts from God.
Powerful people will become\par weak and hungry.\par But the people that go to God for help\par will have every good thing.\par
\{No matter what happens,\}\par my soul waits patiently\par for God \{to save me\}.\par My salvation comes only from him. {\cf2\super [364]} \par\{I may have many enemies,\}\par but God is my fortress. {\cf2\super [365]} \par God saves me.\par God is my place of safety\par high on the mountain.\par Not even great armies can defeat me.\par
But the Spirit {\cf2\super [74]} gives love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,gentleness, self-control. There is no law that can say these things are wrong.
If a person is happy, then his face will show joy. But if a person is sad in his heart, then his spirit will show that sadness.
It is better to be poor and respect the Lord than to be rich and have many troubles.It is better to eat a little in a place where there is love, than to eat a lot where there is hate.
A person who respects the Lord has a good life. That person is satisfied with his life and doesn’t have to worry about troubles.
So brothers and sisters, I beg you to do something. God has shown us great mercy. So offer your lives as a living sacrifice {\cf2\super [130]} to God. Your offering must be only for God and will be pleasing to him. This offering of yourselves is the spiritual way for you to worship (serve) God.Don’t change yourselves to be like the people of this world. But let God change you inside with a new way of thinking. Then you will be able to decide and accept what God wants for you. You will be able to know what things are good and pleasing to God and what things are perfect.
Some poor people are sad all the time. But for people with happiness in their hearts, life is one big party.
In the kingdom of God, eating and drinking are not important. In the kingdom of God, the important things are these: living right with God, peace, and joy in the Holy Spirit. {\cf2\super [143]}
Come into his city with songs of thanks.\par Come into his temple with songs of praise.\par Honor him and bless his name.\parThe Lord is good!\par His love is forever.\par We can trust him forever and ever!\par \par \par
What great blessings there are for the people that want to do right more than anything else {\cf2\super [59]} !\par God will fully satisfy them.\par
We know that in everything God works for the good of those people that love him. These are the people God called (chose), because that was his plan.
Lord, you open your hands,\par and you give every living thing\par everything it needs.\par
I learned that the best thing for people to do is to be happy and enjoy themselves as long as they live.
You will teach me the right way to live.\par Just being with you, Lord, will bring\par complete happiness.\par Being at your right side will bring\par happiness forever.\par
Lord, you give true peace\par to people who depend on you,\par to people who trust you.\par
I pray that the God who gives hope will fill you with much joy and peace while you trust in him. Then you will have more and more hope, and it will flow out of you by the power of the Holy Spirit. {\cf2\super [150]}
A blessing from the Lord will bring you true wealth. And it won’t bring troubles with it.
He even let his own Son suffer for us. God gave his Son for us all. So with Jesus now, God will surely give us all things.
People who know your name\par should trust you.\par Lord, if people come to you,\par you will not leave them without help.\par
People who love your teachings\par will find true peace.\par Nothing can make those people fall.\par
Give thanks \{to God\} at all times. That is what God wants for you in Christ Jesus.
Don’t let me tell lies. And don’t make me too rich or too poor—only give me the things I need each day.If I have more than I need, then I will think I don’t need you. But if I am poor then I might steal. Then I will bring shame to the name of God.
And God can give you more blessings than you need. Then you will always have plenty of everything. You will have enough to give to every good work.
Always give thanks to God the Father for everything. Give him thanks in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.
My God is very rich with the glory of Christ Jesus. God will use his riches in Christ Jesus to give you everything you need.
“Come to me all you people that are tired and have heavy burdens. I will give you rest.Accept my work and learn from me. I am gentle and humble in spirit. And you will find rest for your souls.Yes, the work that I ask you to accept is easy. The burden I give you to carry is not heavy.”
and give thanks to the Father. He has made you able to have the things he prepared for you. He has prepared these things for all his people who live in the light (good).
Trust the Lord and wait for his help.\par Don’t be upset\par when bad people succeed.\par Don’t be upset\par when bad people make evil plans\par and their plans succeed.\par
If a person has peace in his mind, then his body will be healthy. But jealousy causes sickness in his body.
The Lord is our protector and glorious king. {\cf2\super [491]} \par God blesses us with kindness and glory.\par The Lord gives every good thing\par to people who follow and obey him.\par
God saves me.\par I trust him.\par I am not afraid.\par He saves me.\par The Lord YAH is my strength.\par He saves me.\par And I sing songs of praise about him. {\cf2\super [139]} \par
Why should I be so sad?\par Why should I be so upset?\par I should wait for God’s help.\par I will get the chance to praise him yet.\par He will save me!\par
The way these people live is leading them to destruction. They don’t serve God. Those people live only to please themselves. They do shameful things, and they are proud of those things. They think only about earthly things.
Who says that you are better than other people? Everything you have was given to you. So, if everything you have was given to you, then why do you boast like you got those things by your own power?
It is better to have only a dry piece of bread to eat in peace than to have a whole house full of food with everyone arguing.
Even if I walk through a valley\par as dark as the grave, {\cf2\super [140]} \par I will not be afraid of any danger.\par Why? Because you are with me, Lord.\par Your rod and staff {\cf2\super [141]} comfort me.\par
I am in prison because I belong to the Lord. And God chose you to be his people. I tell you now to live the way God’s people should live.Always be humble and gentle. Be patient and accept each other with love.You are joined together with peace through the Spirit. {\cf2\super [28]} Do all you can to continue together in this way. Let peace hold you together.
But people that trust the Lord\par become strong again\par like eagles that grow new feathers.\par These people run without becoming weak.\par These people walk without becoming tired.\par
You must be patient. After you have done what God wants, then you will get the things that he promised you.
We must not become tired of doing good. We will receive our harvest \{of eternal life\} at the right time. We must not give up!
God says,\par “Stop fighting\par and learn that I am God!\par I defeat the nations!\par I control the world!”\par
And we are also happy with the troubles we have. Why are we happy with troubles? Because we know that these troubles make us more patient.And this patience is proof that we are strong. And this proof gives us hope.And this hope will never disappoint us—\{it will never fail\}. Why? Because God has poured out his love to fill our hearts. God gave us his love through the Holy Spirit. {\cf2\super [48]} That Holy Spirit was a gift to us from God.
But the Lord said to me, “My grace (kindness) is enough for you. When you are weak, then my power is made perfect in you.” So I am very happy to boast about my weaknesses. Then Christ’s power can live in me.
Maybe my mind {\cf2\super [419]} and body\par will be destroyed,\par but I have the Rock {\cf2\super [420]} I love.\par I have God forever!\par
There is much strength in the name of the Lord. It is like a strong tower. Good people can run to him and be safe.
I say to the Lord,\par “You are my place of safety, my fortress.\par My God, I trust you.”\par
The thing you should want most is God’s kingdom and doing the good things God wants you to do. Then all these other things you need will be given to you.
Do everything without complaining or arguing.Then you will be innocent and without anything wrong in you. You will be God’s children without fault. But you are living with evil people all around you who have become very bad. Among those people you shine like lights in the dark world.
I thank Christ Jesus our Lord because he trusted me and gave me this work of serving him. He gives me strength.
People living at your temple\par are very fortunate.\par They are still praising you.\par \i (SELAH {\cf2\super [484]})\i0 \par
Do all you can to live a peaceful life. Take care of your own business. Do your own work. We have already told you to do these things.
But you are chosen people. You are the King’s priests. You are a holy {\cf2\super [20]} nation of people. You are people who belong to God. God chose you to tell about the wonderful things he has done. He called (brought) you out of darkness (sin) into his wonderful light.
Lord, all living things look to you\par for their food.\par And you give them their food\par at the right time.\parLord, you open your hands,\par and you give every living thing\par everything it needs.\par
The Lord says,\par “The mountains may disappear,\par and the hills may become dust.\par But my kindness will never leave you.\par I will make peace with you,\par and it will never end.”\par The Lord shows mercy to you.\par And he is the One that said these things.\par
Help me think about your Agreement {\cf2\super [590]} \par instead of how to get rich.\par
Jesus has the power of God. And his power has given us everything we need to live and to serve God. We have these things because we know him. Jesus called us by his glory and goodness.Through his glory and goodness, Jesus gave us the very great and rich gifts that he promised us. With those gifts you can share in being like God. And so the world will not ruin you with the evil things it wants.
Let the peace that Christ gives control your thinking. You were all called together in one body {\cf2\super [19]} to have peace. Always be thankful.
If God gives a person wealth, property, and the power to enjoy those things, then that person should enjoy them. That person should accept the things he has and enjoy his work—that is a gift from God.
Those people who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified (killed) their own sinful selves. They have given up their old selfish feelings and the evil things they wanted to do.
“Don’t save treasures for yourselves here on earth. Moths and rust will destroy treasures here on earth. And thieves can break into your house and steal the things you have.So save your treasure in heaven. The treasures in heaven cannot be destroyed by moths or rust. And thieves cannot break in and steal that treasure.Your heart will be where your treasure is.
In the past you were slaves to sin—sin controlled you. But thank God, you fully obeyed the things that were taught to you.You were made free from sin. And now you are slaves to goodness (right living).
My soul, wait patiently for God \{to save me\}!\par God is my only hope.\parGod is my fortress. {\cf2\super [367]} \par God saves me.\par God is my place of safety\par high on the mountain.\par
Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. In Christ, God has given us every spiritual blessing in heaven.
Praise the Lord!\par A person who fears and respects the Lord will be very happy.\par That person loves God’s commands.\par
The Father (God) has loved us so much! This shows how much he loved us: We are called children of God. And we really are God’s children. But the people in the world (people who don’t believe) don’t understand that we are God’s children, because they have not known him (God).
Lord, my God, I will praise you forever,\par so there will never be silence,\par and there will always be someone\par singing songs to honor you.\par
Many pains will come to bad people.\par But God’s true love\par will surround the people\par that trust the Lord.\parGood people, rejoice\par and be very happy in the Lord.\par All you people with pure hearts, rejoice!\par
Nothing is more precious\par than your loving kindness.\par People and angels {\cf2\super [222]} come to you\par for protection.\par
You should feel sorry for hungry people and give them food. You should help the people that are troubled—satisfy their needs. Then your light will shine in the darkness. And you will have no sadness. You will be bright like sunshine at noon.
We have been made right with God because of our faith. So we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.Through our faith, Christ has brought us into that blessing of God’s grace (kindness) that we now enjoy. And we are very happy because of the hope we have of sharing God’s glory.
You have not seen Christ, but still you love him. You can’t see him now, but you believe in him. You are filled with a joy that cannot be explained. And that joy is full of glory.
“Continue to ask, and God will give to you. Continue to search, and you will find. Continue to knock, and the door will open for you.Yes, if a person continues asking, that person will receive. If a person continues looking, that person will find. And if a person continues knocking, the door will open for that person.
But the Spirit {\cf2\super [74]} gives love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,
Don’t worry about anything. But pray and ask God for everything you need. And when you pray, always give thanks.And God’s peace will keep your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus. That peace which God gives is so great that we cannot understand it.
Lord, you give true peace\par to people who depend on you,\par to people who trust you.\parSo, trust the Lord always.\par Why? Because in the Lord YAH, {\cf2\super [240]} you have a place of safety forever!\par
People who trust in the Lord\par will be like Mount Zion.\par They will never be shaken.\par They will continue forever.\par
Always be full of joy.Never stop praying.Give thanks \{to God\} at all times. That is what God wants for you in Christ Jesus.
