66 Bible Verses about Correcting a Brother

66 Bible Verses about Correcting a Brother

I feel it's our responsibility as followers of Christ to lovingly correct those who stray from His path. It's a part of how we show the love God has poured into our hearts.

Each of us should encourage and gently nudge one another back towards His word. Thinking about it, when we're honest with each other, offering correction with kindness, it's not disrespectful, it's truly caring. It's how we help each other grow.

I have confidence in you. I know you're full of goodness and knowledge, perfectly capable of guiding one another. As Romans 15:14 reminds us, "I myself am convinced, my brothers and sisters, that you yourselves are full of goodness, filled with knowledge and competent to instruct one another."

Prayer

My Lord, Your name is holy and awesome, nothing compares to Your holiness! I come to You through my Lord Jesus Christ, for You alone are worthy of glory and honor. Lord, You love correction, and truly, like the good Parent You are, You discipline those You claim as Your children. I ask that You teach me to follow Your example and have the prudence and wisdom when admonishing and correcting my sibling in faith. Not with hurtful or harsh words, but with an attitude of kindness and love, yet also with authority. Your word says, "Whoever loves discipline loves knowledge, but whoever hates correction is stupid." I pray that my sibling will have a receptive heart and a listening ear to receive the counsel, that through Your Holy Spirit and Your word, I may encourage them to repentance, being an instrument of edification and restoration in their life. In Jesus' name, Amen.
