Then Saul said to his servants, “Seek for me a woman who is a medium, that I may go to her and inquire of her.” And his servants said to him, “Behold, there is a woman who is a medium at En-dor.”So Saul disguised himself, put on other clothes, and he went with two of his men. And they came to the woman by night and he said, “Please divine for me by a spirit, and bring up for me whom I will name to you.”The woman said to him, “Listen, you know what Saul has done, how he has eliminated the mediums and necromancers from the land. Now why are you laying a trap for my life to cause my death?”
When they say to you, “Seek after the mediums and the wizards, who whisper and mutter,” should not a people seek after their God? Should they consult the dead for the living?I will take to Myself faithful witnesses for testimony, Uriah the priest and Zechariah the son of Jeberekiah.To the law and to the testimony; if they do not speak according to this word, it is because there is no light in them.
Only acknowledge your iniquity, that you have transgressed against the Lord your God and have scattered your ways to the strangers under every green tree, and you have not obeyed My voice, says the Lord.
Go and cry out to the gods that you have chosen. Let them save you in your time of distress.”
In all things that I have said to you, watch yourselves, and do not mention the name of other gods, nor let them be heard from your mouth.
Then he removed the idolatrous priests whom the kings of Judah had ordained to burn incense on the high places at the cities of Judah and around Jerusalem; those also who burned incense to Baal, to the sun, to the moon, to the constellations, and to all the host of heaven.
As for you, O house of Israel, thus says the Lord God: Go serve every one of you his idols, but later you shall surely listen to Me. But do not pollute My holy name anymore with your gifts and with your idols.
Those who choose another god multiply their sorrows; their drink offerings of blood I will not offer nor take their names upon my lips.
Then Jesus said to him, “Get away from here, Satan! For it is written, ‘You shall worship the Lord your God, and Him only shall you serve.’ ”
So I went in and saw every form of creeping things, and abominable beasts, and all the idols of the house of Israel, portrayed upon the wall all around.
but they mingled with the nations and learned their works;they served their idols, which became a snare to them.
I am the Lord, that is My name; and My glory I will not give to another, nor My praise to graven images.
In that day a man shall cast away his idols of silver and his idols of gold, which they made for themselves to worship, to the moles and to the bats,
Take heed to yourselves that your heart be not deceived, and you turn away and serve other gods and worship them.
You must burn the graven images of their gods with fire. You must not desire the silver or gold that is on them nor take any of it, lest you be snared by them, for it is an abomination to the Lord your God.
You shall not make for yourself any graven idol, or any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water below the earth.
The rest of mankind, who were not killed by these plagues, did not repent of the works of their hands. They did not cease to worship demons, and idols of gold, silver, brass, stone, and wood, which cannot see nor hear nor walk.
They have seen vanity and lying divination, saying, “The Lord says,” when the Lord has not sent them. And they have made others to hope for the confirmation of their word.
Because, although they knew God, they did not glorify Him or give thanks to Him as God, but became futile in their imaginations, and their foolish hearts were darkened.Claiming to be wise, they became fools.They changed the glory of the incorruptible God into an image made like corruptible man, birds, four-footed beasts, and creeping things.
Thus says the Lord: Cursed is the man who trusts in man and makes flesh his strength, and whose heart departs from the Lord.
The idols of the nations are silver and gold, the work of men’s hands.Mouths have they, but they speak not; eyes have they, but they see not;ears have they, but they hear not, nor is there any breath in their mouths.Those who make them are like them; so is everyone who trusts in them.
Therefore say to the house of Israel, Thus says the Lord God: Repent and turn away from your idols and turn away your faces from all your abominations.
Samuel spoke to all the house of Israel, saying, “If you are returning to the Lord with all your heart, then put away the foreign gods and Ashtoreths from your midst. And make firm your hearts unto the Lord, and serve Him only. Then He will deliver you out of the hand of the Philistines.”
You shall not bow down to them or serve them, for I, the Lord your God, am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children to the third and fourth generation of them who hate Me,
They turned the truth of God into a lie and worshipped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever. Amen.
Those who make a graven image are, all of them, vain, and their delectable things shall not profit; and they are their own witnesses; they do not see or know, that they may be ashamed.
Every man is ignorant by His knowledge; every founder is humiliated by the graven image, for his molded image is falsehood, and there is no breath in them.They are vanity, the work of errors; in the time of their punishment they will perish.
Behold, you are nothing, and your work amounts to nothing; he who chooses you is an abomination.
Yet I did not mean the sexually immoral people of this world, or the covetous and extortioners, or the idolaters, since you would then need to go out of the world.But I have written to you not to keep company with any man who is called a brother, who is sexually immoral, or covetous, or an idolater, or a reviler, or a drunkard, or an extortioner. Do not even eat with such a person.
It shall come to pass when they say, “Why does the Lord our God do all these things to us?” then you shall answer them, “As you have forsaken Me and served strange gods in your land, so you will serve strangers in a land that is not yours.”
But you are those who forsake the Lord, who forget My holy mountain, who prepare a table for Fortune, and who furnish the drink offering for Destiny.
So concerning the eating of foods that are offered in sacrifice to idols, we know that an idol is nothing in the world, and that there is no other God but one.
for they served idols, of which the Lord had said to them, “You shall not do this thing.”
because of their wickedness, which they have committed to provoke Me to anger, in that they went to burn incense, to serve other gods whom they did not know, neither they nor you nor your fathers.
“No one can serve two masters. For either he will hate the one and love the other, or else he will hold to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and money.
Therefore behold, the days are coming when I will punish the graven images of Babylon; and her whole land will be humiliated, and all her slain will fall in the midst of her.
For when Solomon was old, his wives turned his heart away after other gods, and his heart was not perfect with the Lord his God as the heart of David his father had been.
When you cry out, let your collection of idols deliver you. But the wind shall carry them all away, a breath shall take them away. But he who puts his trust in Me shall possess the land and shall inherit My holy mountain.
For they went and served other gods, and worshipped them, gods which they did not know and which He had not given to them.
but have lifted up yourself against the Lord of heaven. And they have brought the vessels of His house before you, and you and your lords, your wives and your concubines, have drunk wine in them. And the God in whose hand is your breath, and whose are all your ways, you have not glorified.
And since they did not see fit to acknowledge God, God gave them over to a debased mind, to do those things which are not proper.They were filled with all unrighteousness, sexual immorality, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, and craftiness. They are gossips,concerning His Son, Jesus Christ our Lord, who was born of the seed of David according to the fleshslanderers, God-haters, insolent, proud, boastful, inventors of evil things, and disobedient toward parents,without understanding, covenant breakers, without natural affection, calloused, and unmerciful,who know the righteous requirement of God, that those who commit such things are worthy of death. They not only do them, but also give hearty approval to those who practice them.
Do not turn to spirits through mediums or necromancers. Do not seek after them to be defiled by them: I am the Lord your God.
He even made his sons pass through the fire in the Valley of Ben-hinnom; and he had conjurers, and practitioners of divination and sorcery, and necromancers, and mediums. So he did a great amount of evil in the eyes of the Lord, so that God was provoked.
You shall not eat anything with the blood in it, nor shall you practice divination or fortune-telling.
You are wearied in the multitude of your counsels; let now the astrologers, the stargazers, the monthly prognosticators stand up and save you from these things that shall come upon you.Behold, they shall be as stubble, the fire shall burn them; they shall not deliver themselves from the power of the flame; it shall not be coal to be warmed by nor a fire to sit before.
But the cowardly, the unbelieving, the abominable, the murderers, the sexually immoral, the sorcerers, the idolaters, and all liars shall have their portion in the lake which burns with fire and brimstone. This is the second death.”
But I say that the things which the Gentiles sacrifice, they sacrifice to demons, and not to God. I do not want you to have fellowship with demons.You cannot drink the cup of the Lord and the cup of demons. You cannot be partakers of the Lord’s table and of the table of demons.
Thus says the Lord: Do not learn the way of the nations; do not be terrified at the signs of heaven, although the nations are terrified at them.
For these nations, which you shall possess, listened to soothsayers and to diviners, but as for you, the Lord your God has not permitted you to do so.
Outside are dogs and sorcerers and the sexually immoral and murderers and idolaters and everyone who loves and practices a lie.
For the household Teraphim idols speak wickedness, and the diviners envision lies. They utter false dreams, and provide comfort that does not last. So the people wander about like sheep; they are afflicted because there is no shepherd.
He made his son pass through the fire, was conjuring and seeking omens, and dealt with mediums and soothsayers. He did much evil in the sight of the Lord, provoking Him to anger.
For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, and stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry. Because you have rejected the word of the Lord, He has also rejected you from being king.”
There must not be found among you anyone who makes his son or his daughter pass through the fire, or who uses divination, or uses witchcraft, or an interpreter of omens, or a sorcerer,or one who casts spells, or a spiritualist, or an occultist, or a necromancer.For all that do these things are an abomination to the Lord, and because of these abominations the Lord your God will drive them out from before you.
The person who turns to spirits through mediums and necromancers in order to whore after them, I will even set My face against that person and will cut him off from among his people.

Now the works of the flesh are revealed, which are these: adultery, sexual immorality, impurity, lewdness,Indeed I, Paul, say to you that if you become circumcised, Christ will profit you nothing.idolatry, sorcery, hatred, strife, jealousy, rage, selfishness, dissensions, heresies,envy, murders, drunkenness, carousing, and the like. I warn you, as I previously warned you, that those who do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.
then I will cut off sorceries from your hand, and you will no longer have fortune-tellers.
And beware, lest you lift up your eyes to heaven, and when you see the sun, and the moon, and the stars, even all the host of heaven, you are led astray and worship them, and serve them, that which the Lord your God has allotted to all nations under the whole heaven.
Therefore do not listen to your prophets, or to your diviners, or to your dreamers, or to your enchanters, or to your sorcerers who speak to you, saying, “You shall not serve the king of Babylon.”
Many who practiced magic brought their books together and burned them before everyone. They calculated their value, which equaled fifty thousand drachmas.
who frustrates the omens of the boasters and makes fools out of diviners, who turns wise men backward and makes their knowledge foolish,
Then Pharaoh also called the wise men and the sorcerers. Then the magicians of Egypt likewise performed with their secret arts.
They sacrificed to demons, not to God, to gods whom they knew not, to new gods that recently came along, whom your fathers did not fear.
You must not bow down to their gods, or serve them, or do according to their practices, but you shall utterly overthrow them and break down their images in pieces.

And he made sacrifices in the Valley of Ben-hinnom, and he burned his sons in the fire according to the detestable acts of the nations that the Lord had displaced before the Israelites.
A man or woman who speaks to spirits as a medium or necromancer shall surely be put to death. They shall stone them. Their blood guilt shall be upon them.
They caused their sons and daughters to pass through the fire, used divination and omens, and sold themselves to do evil in the sight of the Lord to anger Him.
For they shall be ashamed of the oaks which you have desired, and you shall be humiliated for the gardens that you have chosen.
Woe to the rebellious children, says the Lord, who take counsel, but not from Me, and make an alliance, but not of My Spirit, in order to add sin to sin;
You shall not make for yourselves idols; neither set up a carved image nor a standing stone, nor shall you set up any sculpted stone in your land to bow down to it, for I am the Lord your God.
For You have forsaken Your people, the house of Jacob, because they are replenished from the east, and are soothsayers like the Philistines, and they please themselves with the children of strangers.
If a prophet or a dreamer of dreams arises among you and gives you a sign or a wonder,You shall stone him with stones so that he dies because he has sought to entice you away from the Lord your God who brought you out of the land of Egypt, from the house of bondage.All Israel shall hear and fear and no more do any such wickedness as this among you.If you hear it said in one of your cities, in which the Lord your God has given you to dwell, saying,“Certain men, the sons of wickedness, are gone out from among you and have seduced the inhabitants of their city, saying, ‘Let us go and serve other gods,’ ” which you have not known,then you shall inquire, search out, and ask diligently. And behold, if it be true and certain that such an abomination has been among you,you shall surely put the inhabitants of that city to the sword, utterly destroying it, all that is in it and its livestock—with the edge of the sword.You must gather all the spoils of it into the middle of the street and burn the city with fire along with all the spoils within it for the Lord your God, and it will be a heap forever. It must not be rebuilt.Nothing of the cursed thing there must cling to your hand, so that the Lord may turn from the fierceness of His anger and show you mercy, have compassion on you, and multiply you, just as He swore to your fathers,if you listen to the voice of the Lord your God, to keep all His commandments which I command you today, and do that which is right in the eyes of the Lord your God.and the sign or the wonder comes to pass concerning that which he spoke to you, saying, “Let us go after other gods,” which you have not known, “and let us serve them,”you must not listen to the words of that prophet or that dreamer of dreams, for the Lord your God is testing you, to know whether you love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul.
But there were also false prophets among the people, just as there will be false teachers among you, who will secretly bring in destructive heresies, even denying the Lord who bought them, bringing swift destruction upon themselves.
Now the Spirit clearly says that in the last times some will depart from the faith and pay attention to seducing spirits and teaching of devils,
Beware lest anyone captivate you through philosophy and vain deceit, in the tradition of men and the elementary principles of the world, and not after Christ.
The light of a lamp shall shine in you no more, and the voice of bridegroom and of bride shall be heard in you no more. For your merchants were the great men of the earth, and all nations were deceived by your sorcery.
Behold, I am against those who prophesy false dreams, says the Lord, and recount them and cause My people to err by their lies and reckless boasting. Yet I did not send them or command them. Therefore they shall not profit this people at all, says the Lord.
but these two things shall come to you in a moment, in one day, the loss of children and widowhood. They shall come upon you in their fullness because of the multitude of your sorceries and for the great abundance of your enchantments.
For false christs and false prophets will arise and show great signs and wonders to deceive, if possible, even the elect.

Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding.In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight.
And do not have fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness; instead, expose them.
What agreement has the temple of God with idols? For you are the temple of the living God. As God has said: “I will live in them and walk in them. I will be their God, and they shall be My people.”Therefore, “Come out from among them and be separate, says the Lord. Do not touch what is unclean, and I will receive you.”
