I've found that there's a lot of truth in saying that the Bible is generally easy to understand. Most of it is pretty straightforward, you know? But, yeah, every now and then you stumble across a passage that really makes you scratch your head. Figuring out what those tricky parts mean can be a real challenge.
Thankfully, I'd say 99% of Scripture is clear as a bell. And that's the stuff we really need to focus on living out. The Bible itself talks about how God's word is meant to be understandable, accessible to everyone.
But let's be real, sometimes we run into those verses that feel a bit murky. Even with all the great commentaries and resources we have available today, including stuff online, even theologians will tell you some passages are just tough nuts to crack.
But I believe that with God's help, and by digging a little deeper with the tools available to us, we can gain a better understanding of even those difficult verses. He'll give us the wisdom we need if we seek it.

If a man have a stubborn and rebellious son, that will not obey the voice of his father, or the voice of his mother, and, though they chasten him, will not hearken unto them;then shall his father and his mother lay hold on him, and bring him out unto the elders of his city, and unto the gate of his place;and they shall say unto the elders of his city, This our son is stubborn and rebellious, he will not obey our voice; he is a glutton, and a drunkard.And all the men of his city shall stone him to death with stones: so shalt thou put away the evil from the midst of thee; and all Israel shall hear, and fear.
But the men would not hearken to him: so the man laid hold on his concubine, and brought her forth unto them; and they knew her, and abused her all the night until the morning: and when the day began to spring, they let her go.Then came the woman in the dawning of the day, and fell down at the door of the man's house where her lord was, till it was light.And her lord rose up in the morning, and opened the doors of the house, and went out to go his way; and, behold, the woman his concubine was fallen down at the door of the house, with her hands upon the threshold.And he said unto her, Up, and let us be going; but none answered: then he took her up upon the ass; and the man rose up, and gat him unto his place.And when he was come into his house, he took a knife, and laid hold on his concubine, and divided her, limb by limb, into twelve pieces, and sent her throughout all the borders of Israel.And it was so, that all that saw it said, There was no such deed done nor seen from the day that the children of Israel came up out of the land of Egypt unto this day: consider it, take counsel, and speak.
And it came to pass at eventide, that David arose from off his bed, and walked upon the roof of the king's house: and from the roof he saw a woman bathing; and the woman was very beautiful to look upon.And David sent and inquired after the woman. And one said, Is not this Bath-sheba, the daughter of Eliam, the wife of Uriah the Hittite?And David sent messengers, and took her; and she came in unto him, and he lay with her (for she was purified from her uncleanness); and she returned unto her house.And the woman conceived; and she sent and told David, and said, I am with child.
Then there came two women that were harlots, unto the king, and stood before him.And the one woman said, Oh, my lord, I and this woman dwell in one house; and I was delivered of a child with her in the house.And it came to pass the third day after I was delivered, that this woman was delivered also; and we were together; there was no stranger with us in the house, save we two in the house.And this woman's child died in the night, because she lay upon it.And she arose at midnight, and took my son from beside me, while thy handmaid slept, and laid it in her bosom, and laid her dead child in my bosom.And when I rose in the morning to give my child suck, behold, it was dead; but when I had looked at it in the morning, behold, it was not my son, whom I did bear.And the other woman said, Nay; but the living is my son, and the dead is thy son. And this said, No; but the dead is thy son, and the living is my son. Thus they spake before the king.Then said the king, The one saith, This is my son that liveth, and thy son is the dead: and the other saith, Nay; but thy son is the dead, and my son is the living.And the king said, Fetch me a sword. And they brought a sword before the king.And the king said, Divide the living child in two, and give half to the one, and half to the other.Then spake the woman whose the living child was unto the king, for her heart yearned over her son, and she said, Oh, my lord, give her the living child, and in no wise slay it. But the other said, It shall be neither mine nor thine; divide it.Then the king answered and said, Give her the living child, and in no wise slay it: she is the mother thereof.And all Israel heard of the judgment which the king had judged; and they feared the king: for they saw that the wisdom of God was in him, to do justice.
And he went up from thence unto Beth-el; and as he was going up by the way, there came forth young lads out of the city, and mocked him, and said unto him, Go up, thou baldhead; go up, thou baldhead.And he looked behind him and saw them, and cursed them in the name of Jehovah. And there came forth two she-bears out of the wood, and tare forty and two lads of them.
Man, that is born of a woman,\par\tab Is of few days, and full of trouble.He cometh forth like a flower, and is cut down:\par\tab He fleeth also as a shadow, and continueth not.
The wicked are estranged from the womb:\par\tab They go astray as soon as they are born, speaking lies.
For my soul was grieved,\par\tab And I was pricked in my heart:So brutish was I, and ignorant;\par\tab I was {\i as} a beast before thee.
For thou didst form my inward parts:\par\tab Thou didst cover me in my mother's womb.I will give thanks unto thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made:\par\tab Wonderful are thy works;\par\tab And that my soul knoweth right well.
Wisdom {\i is} the principal thing; {\i therefore} get wisdom;\par\tab Yea, with all thy getting get understanding.
Vanity of vanities, saith the Preacher; vanity of vanities, all is vanity.What profit hath man of all his labor wherein he laboreth under the sun?
And he said, Go, and tell this people, Hear ye indeed, but understand not; and see ye indeed, but perceive not.Make the heart of this people fat, and make their ears heavy, and shut their eyes; lest they see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and understand with their heart, and turn again, and be healed.
For though he cause grief, yet will he have compassion according to the multitude of his lovingkindnesses.For he doth not afflict willingly, nor grieve the children of men.
Seventy weeks are decreed upon thy people and upon thy holy city, to finish transgression, and to make an end of sins, and to make reconciliation for iniquity, and to bring in everlasting righteousness, and to seal up vision and prophecy, and to anoint the most holy.
Woe unto you that desire the day of Jehovah! Wherefore would ye have the day of Jehovah? It is darkness, and not light.As if a man did flee from a lion, and a bear met him; or went into the house and leaned his hand on the wall, and a serpent bit him.Shall not the day of Jehovah be darkness, and not light? even very dark, and no brightness in it?\par
Now there was a certain rich man, and he was clothed in purple and fine linen, faring sumptuously every day:and a certain beggar named Lazarus was laid at his gate, full of sores,and desiring to be fed with the {\i crumbs} that fell from the rich man's table; yea, even the dogs came and licked his sores.And it came to pass, that the beggar died, and that he was carried away by the angels into Abraham's bosom: and the rich man also died, and was buried.And in Hades he lifted up his eyes, being in torments, and seeth Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom.And he cried and said, Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus, that he may dip the tip of his finger in water, and cool my tongue; for I am in anguish in this flame.But Abraham said, Son, remember that thou in thy lifetime receivedst thy good things, and Lazarus in like manner evil things: but now here he is comforted, and thou art in anguish.And besides all this, between us and you there is a great gulf fixed, that they that would pass from hence to you may not be able, and that none may cross over from thence to us.And he said, I pray thee therefore, father, that thou wouldest send him to my father's house;for I have five brethren; that he may testify unto them, lest they also come into this place of torment.But Abraham saith, They have Moses and the prophets; let them hear them.And he said, Nay, father Abraham: but if one go to them from the dead, they will repent.And he said unto him, If they hear not Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded, if one rise from the dead.}\par
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth on him should not perish, but have eternal life.For God sent not the Son into the world to judge the world; but that the world should be saved through him.He that believeth on him is not judged: he that believeth not hath been judged already, because he hath not believed on the name of the only begotten Son of God.
and he made of one every nation of men to dwell on all the face of the earth, having determined {\i their} appointed seasons, and the bounds of their habitation;
for {\i the children} being not yet born, neither having done anything good or bad, that the purpose of God according to election might stand, not of works, but of him that calleth,it was said unto her, {\b The elder shall serve the younger.}Even as it is written, {\b Jacob I loved, but Esau I hated.}\par
O the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and the knowledge of God! how unsearchable are his judgments, and his ways past tracing out!For {\b who hath known the mind of the Lord? or who hath been his counsellor?}or {\b who hath first given to him, and it shall be recompensed unto him again?}For of him, and through him, and unto him, are all things. To him {\i be} the glory for ever. Amen.\par
but as it is written,\par\tab {\b Things which eye saw not, and ear heard not,\par\tab And {\i which} entered not into the heart of man,\par\tab Whatsoever things God prepared for them that love him.}
Else what shall they do that are baptized for the dead? If the dead are not raised at all, why then are they baptized for them?
There can be neither Jew nor Greek, there can be neither bond nor free, there can be no male and female; for ye all are one {\i man} in Christ Jesus.
even as he chose us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blemish before him in love:
Yea verily, and I count all things to be loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord: for whom I suffered the loss of all things, and do count them but refuse, that I may gain Christ,and be found in him, not having a righteousness of mine own, {\i even} that which is of the law, but that which is through faith in Christ, the righteousness which is from God by faith:
For it was the good pleasure {\i of the Father} that in him should all the fulness dwell;and through him to reconcile all things unto himself, having made peace through the blood of his cross; through him, {\i I say}, whether things upon the earth, or things in the heavens.
When they are saying, Peace and safety, then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall in no wise escape.
And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness; He who was manifested in the flesh, Justified in the spirit, Seen of angels, Preached among the nations, Believed on in the world, Received up in glory.\par
Give diligence to present thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, handling aright the word of truth.
For there are many unruly men, vain talkers and deceivers, specially they of the circumcision,whose mouths must be stopped; men who overthrow whole houses, teaching things which they ought not, for filthy lucre's sake.
For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet stumble in one {\i point}, he is become guilty of all.
But ye are an elect race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for {\i God's} own possession, that ye may show forth the excellencies of him who called you out of darkness into his marvellous light:
He that overcometh shall thus be arrayed in white garments; and I will in no wise blot his name out of the book of life, and I will confess his name before my Father, and before his angels.
And I saw a great white throne, and him that sat upon it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no place for them.And I saw the dead, the great and the small, standing before the throne; and books were opened: and another book was opened, which is {\i the book} of life: and the dead were judged out of the things which were written in the books, according to their works.And the sea gave up the dead that were in it; and death and Hades gave up the dead that were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works.And death and Hades were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death, {\i even} the lake of fire.And if any was not found written in the book of life, he was cast into the lake of fire.\par
and he shall wipe away every tear from their eyes; and death shall be no more; neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain, any more: for the first things are passed away.
I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, If any man shall add unto them, God shall add unto him the plagues which are written in this book:and if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part from the tree of life, and out of the holy city, which are written in this book.\par
