Forgiving others brings such freedom. It's like taking off a heavy backpack you've been carrying for way too long. There's a real beauty to forgiveness, and anyone who's experienced both giving and receiving it knows what I mean. God is our ultimate example, right? He shows us how it's done and calls us to practice it every single day.
So, I encourage you to forgive, just as Christ forgives you – every single day. It's time to let go and be free. Let's be real, in this life, someone is bound to hurt or offend you. But even then, we're called to learn to forgive and love again. Get that bitterness out of your system. Trust me, it'll help you grow and move forward. It'll even strengthen your relationship with God.
As children of God, we rejoice because we've received forgiveness for our sins through Jesus' sacrifice on the cross. But it's important to remember that just as we've been forgiven, our hearts need to be ready to forgive others. Mark 11:251 says, "And whenever you stand praying, if you have anything against anyone, forgive him, that your Father in heaven may also forgive you your trespasses." As long as we repent and are faithful in forgiving others, God will completely forgive us. And that's when we can truly have a fresh start!
“But I tell everyone who is listening: Love your enemies. Be kind to those who hate you.Bless those who curse you. Pray for those who insult you.
But, “If your enemy is hungry, feed him. If he is thirsty, give him a drink. If you do this, you will make him feel guilty and ashamed.”
“If you forgive the failures of others, your heavenly Father will also forgive you.But if you don’t forgive others, your Father will not forgive your failures.
Be kind to each other, sympathetic, forgiving each other as God has forgiven you through Christ.
Put up with each other, and forgive each other if anyone has a complaint. Forgive as the Lord forgave you.
Then Jesus said, “Father, forgive them. They don’t know what they’re doing.” Meanwhile, the soldiers divided his clothes among themselves by throwing dice.
Then Peter came to Jesus and asked him, “Lord, how often do I have to forgive a believer who wrongs me? Seven times?”Jesus answered him, “I tell you, not just seven times, but seventy times seven.
Don’t pay people back with evil for the evil they do to you. Focus your thoughts on those things that are considered noble.As much as it is possible, live in peace with everyone.
Don’t pay people back with evil for the evil they do to you, or ridicule those who ridicule you. Instead, bless them, because you were called to inherit a blessing.
If your enemy is hungry, give him some food to eat, and if he is thirsty, give him some water to drink.⌞In this way⌟ you will make him feel guilty and ashamed, and the Lord will reward you.
Whoever says, “I love God,” but hates another believer is a liar. People who don’t love other believers, whom they have seen, can’t love God, whom they have not seen.Christ has given us this commandment: The person who loves God must also love other believers.
Rather, love your enemies, help them, and lend to them without expecting to get anything back. Then you will have a great reward. You will be the children of the Most High God. After all, he is kind to unthankful and evil people.
“I’m giving you a new commandment: Love each other in the same way that I have loved you.Everyone will know that you are my disciples because of your love for each other.”
Love is patient. Love is kind. Love isn’t jealous. It doesn’t sing its own praises. It isn’t arrogant.It isn’t rude. It doesn’t think about itself. It isn’t irritable. It doesn’t keep track of wrongs.It isn’t happy when injustice is done, but it is happy with the truth.Love never stops being patient, never stops believing, never stops hoping, never gives up.
Imitate God, since you are the children he loves.Determine which things please the Lord.Have nothing to do with the useless works that darkness produces. Instead, expose them for what they are.It is shameful to talk about what some people do in secret.Light exposes the true character of everythingbecause light makes everything easy to see. That’s why it says: “Wake up, sleeper! Rise from the dead, and Christ will shine on you.” So then, be very careful how you live. Don’t live like foolish people but like wise people.Make the most of your opportunities because these are evil days.So don’t be foolish, but understand what the Lord wants.Don’t get drunk on wine, which leads to wild living. Instead, be filled with the Spiritby reciting psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs for your own good. Sing and make music to the Lord with your hearts.Live in love as Christ also loved us. He gave his life for us as an offering and sacrifice, a soothing aroma to God.
Don’t take revenge, dear friends. Instead, let God’s anger take care of it. After all, Scripture says, “I alone have the right to take revenge. I will pay back, says the Lord.”
As far as the east is from the west— that is how far he has removed our rebellious acts from himself.
Get rid of your bitterness, hot tempers, anger, loud quarreling, cursing, and hatred.Be kind to each other, sympathetic, forgiving each other as God has forgiven you through Christ.
“You have heard that it was said, ‘An eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth.’But I tell you not to oppose an evil person. If someone slaps you on your right cheek, turn your other cheek to him as well.
God is faithful and reliable. If we confess our sins, he forgives them and cleanses us from everything we’ve done wrong.
So admit your sins to each other, and pray for each other so that you will be healed. Prayers offered by those who have God’s approval are effective.
Try to live peacefully with everyone, and try to live holy lives, because if you don’t, you will not see the Lord.Make sure that everyone has kindness from God so that bitterness doesn’t take root and grow up to cause trouble that corrupts many of you.
Whoever forgives an offense seeks love, but whoever keeps bringing up the issue separates the closest of friends.
So watch yourselves! “If a believer sins, correct him. If he changes the way he thinks and acts, forgive him.The day when the Son of Man is revealed will be like that.“On that day those who are on the roof shouldn’t come down to get their belongings out of their houses. Those who are in the field shouldn’t turn back.Remember Lot’s wife!Those who try to save their lives will lose them, and those who lose their lives will save them.“I can guarantee that on that night if two people are in one bed, one will be taken and the other one will be left.Two women will be grinding grain together. One will be taken, and the other one will be left.” They asked him, “Where, Lord?” Jesus told them, “Vultures will gather wherever there is a dead body.”Even if he wrongs you seven times in one day and comes back to you seven times and says that he is sorry, forgive him.”
Therefore, accept each other in the same way that Christ accepted you. He did this to bring glory to God.
Whenever you pray, forgive anything you have against anyone. Then your Father in heaven will forgive your failures.”
As holy people whom God has chosen and loved, be sympathetic, kind, humble, gentle, and patient.Put up with each other, and forgive each other if anyone has a complaint. Forgive as the Lord forgave you.
A person with good sense is patient, and it is to his credit that he overlooks an offense.
“Stop judging so that you will not be judged.Or if your child asks for a fish, would you give him a snake?Even though you’re evil, you know how to give good gifts to your children. So how much more will your Father in heaven give good things to those who ask him?“Always do for other people everything you want them to do for you. That is ⌞the meaning of⌟ Moses’ Teachings and the Prophets.“Enter through the narrow gate because the gate and road that lead to destruction are wide. Many enter through the wide gate.But the narrow gate and the road that lead to life are full of trouble. Only a few people find the narrow gate.“Beware of false prophets. They come to you disguised as sheep, but in their hearts they are vicious wolves.You will know them by what they produce. “People don’t pick grapes from thornbushes or figs from thistles, do they?In the same way every good tree produces good fruit, but a rotten tree produces bad fruit.A good tree cannot produce bad fruit, and a rotten tree cannot produce good fruit.Any tree that fails to produce good fruit is cut down and thrown into a fire.Otherwise, you will be judged by the same standard you use to judge others. The standards you use for others will be applied to you.
Make sure that no one ever pays back one wrong with another wrong. Instead, always try to do what is good for each other and everyone else.
We understand what love is when we realize that Christ gave his life for us. That means we must give our lives for other believers.
Love never does anything that is harmful to a neighbor. Therefore, love fulfills Moses’ Teachings.
When a person’s ways are pleasing to the Lord, he makes even his enemies to be at peace with him.
Christ never verbally abused those who verbally abused him. When he suffered, he didn’t make any threats but left everything to the one who judges fairly.
This is not a wrestling match against a human opponent. We are wrestling with rulers, authorities, the powers who govern this world of darkness, and spiritual forces that control evil in the heavenly world.
God has done all this. He has restored our relationship with him through Christ, and has given us this ministry of restoring relationships.In other words, God was using Christ to restore his relationship with humanity. He didn’t hold people’s faults against them, and he has given us this message of restored relationships to tell others.
But God is rich in mercy because of his great love for us.We were dead because of our failures, but he made us alive together with Christ. (It is God’s kindness that saved you.)
That is what my Father in heaven will do to you if each of you does not sincerely forgive other believers.”
A servant of the Lord must not quarrel. Instead, he must be kind to everyone. He must be a good teacher. He must be willing to suffer wrong.He must be gentle in correcting those who oppose the Good News. Maybe God will allow them to change the way they think and act and lead them to know the truth.
“Stop judging, and you will never be judged. Stop condemning, and you will never be condemned. Forgive, and you will be forgiven.
If the death of his Son restored our relationship with God while we were still his enemies, we are even more certain that, because of this restored relationship, the life of his Son will save us.
When they persisted in asking him questions, he straightened up and said, “The person who is sinless should be the first to throw a stone at her.”
When a stubborn fool is irritated, he shows it immediately, but a sensible person hides the insult.
Be humble and gentle in every way. Be patient with each other and lovingly accept each other.
Don’t act out of selfish ambition or be conceited. Instead, humbly think of others as being better than yourselves.
We wear ourselves out doing physical labor. When people verbally abuse us, we bless them. When people persecute us, we endure it.
Why do you criticize or despise other Christians? Everyone will stand in front of God to be judged.
because I will forgive their wickedness and I will no longer hold their sins against them.”
Brothers and sisters, if a person gets trapped by wrongdoing, those of you who are spiritual should help that person turn away from doing wrong. Do it in a gentle way. At the same time watch yourself so that you also are not tempted.
Learn what this means: ‘I want mercy, not sacrifices.’ I’ve come to call sinners, not people who think they have God’s approval.”
Instead, as we lovingly speak the truth, we will grow up completely in our relationship to Christ, who is the head.
Also get rid of your anger, hot tempers, hatred, cursing, obscene language, and all similar sins.
Good people do the good that is in them. But evil people do the evil that is in them. The things people say come from inside them.
The Lord isn’t slow to do what he promised, as some people think. Rather, he is patient for your sake. He doesn’t want to destroy anyone but wants all people to have an opportunity to turn to him and change the way they think and act.
Remember this, my dear brothers and sisters: Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak, and should not get angry easily.My brothers and sisters, be very happy when you are tested in different ways.An angry person doesn’t do what God approves of.
Through the blood of his Son, we are set free from our sins. God forgives our failures because of his overflowing kindness.
God called you to endure suffering because Christ suffered for you. He left you an example so that you could follow in his footsteps.Christ never committed any sin. He never spoke deceitfully.Christ never verbally abused those who verbally abused him. When he suffered, he didn’t make any threats but left everything to the one who judges fairly.
No matter who you are, if you judge anyone, you have no excuse. When you judge another person, you condemn yourself, since you, the judge, do the same things.
“I’m sending you out like sheep among wolves. So be as cunning as snakes but as innocent as doves.
We also pray that the Lord will greatly increase your love for each other and for everyone else, just as we love you.Then he will strengthen you to be holy. Then you will be blameless in the presence of our God and Father when our Lord Jesus comes with all God’s holy people.
First of all, I encourage you to make petitions, prayers, intercessions, and prayers of thanks for all people,This is what is proper for women who claim to have reverence for God.A woman must learn in silence, in keeping with her position.I don’t allow a woman to teach or to have authority over a man. Instead, she should be quiet.After all, Adam was formed first, then Eve.Besides that, Adam was not deceived. It was the woman who was deceived and sinned.However, she ⌞and all women⌟ will be saved through the birth of the child, if they lead respectable lives in faith, love, and holiness.for rulers, and for everyone who has authority over us. Pray for these people so that we can have a quiet and peaceful life always lived in a godly and reverent way.
“People who want to live a full life and enjoy good days must keep their tongues from saying evil things, and their lips from speaking deceitful things.They must turn away from evil and do good. They must seek peace and pursue it.
If you forgive someone, so do I. Indeed, what I have forgiven, if I have forgiven anything, I did in the presence of Christ for your benefit.I don’t want Satan to outwit us. After all, we are not ignorant about Satan’s scheming.
I can guarantee that there will be more happiness in heaven over one person who turns to God and changes the way he thinks and acts than over 99 people who already have turned to God and have his approval.”
“The king will answer them, ‘I can guarantee this truth: Whatever you did for one of my brothers or sisters, no matter how unimportant ⌞they seemed⌟, you did for me.’
So those of us who have a strong ⌞faith⌟ must be patient with the weaknesses of those whose ⌞faith⌟ is not so strong. We must not think only of ourselves.And Scripture says again, “You nations, be happy together with his people!”And again, “Praise the Lord, all you nations! Praise him, all you people of the world!”Again, Isaiah says, “There will be a root from Jesse. He will rise to rule the nations, and he will give the nations hope.”May God, the source of hope, fill you with joy and peace through your faith in him. Then you will overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.I’m convinced, brothers and sisters, that you, too, are filled with goodness. I’m also convinced that you have all the knowledge you need and that you are able to instruct each other.However, I’ve written you a letter, parts of which are rather bold, as a reminder to you. I’m doing this because God gave me the giftto be a servant of Christ Jesus to people who are not Jewish. I serve as a priest by spreading the Good News of God. I do this in order that I might bring the nations to God as an acceptable offering, made holy by the Holy Spirit.So Christ Jesus gives me the right to brag about what I’m doing for God.I’m bold enough to tell you only what Christ has done through me to bring people who are not Jewish to obedience. By what I have said and done,by the power of miraculous and amazing signs, and by the power of God’s Spirit, I have finished spreading the Good News about Christ from Jerusalem to Illyricum.We should all be concerned about our neighbor and the good things that will build his faith.
Finally, brothers and sisters, keep your thoughts on whatever is right or deserves praise: things that are true, honorable, fair, pure, acceptable, or commendable.
He answered, “ ‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your strength, and with all your mind. And love your neighbor as you love yourself.’ ”
So if I, your Lord and teacher, have washed your feet, you must wash each other’s feet.I’ve given you an example that you should follow.
In the same way let your light shine in front of people. Then they will see the good that you do and praise your Father in heaven.
Young people, in a similar way, place yourselves under the authority of spiritual leaders. Furthermore, all of you must serve each other with humility, because God opposes the arrogant but favors the humble.Be humbled by God’s power so that when the right time comes he will honor you.
Continue to love each other.Those who serve at the tent have no right to eat what is sacrificed at our altar.The chief priest brings the blood of animals into the holy place as an offering for sin. But the bodies of those animals were burned outside the Israelite camp.That is why Jesus suffered outside the gates of Jerusalem. He suffered to make the people holy with his own blood.So we must go to him outside the camp and endure the insults he endured.We don’t have a permanent city here on earth, but we are looking for the city that we will have in the future.Through Jesus we should always bring God a sacrifice of praise, that is, words that acknowledge him.Don’t forget to do good things for others and to share what you have with them. These are the kinds of sacrifices that please God.Obey your leaders, and accept their authority. They take care of you because they are responsible for you. Obey them so that they may do this work joyfully and not complain about you. (Causing them to complain would not be to your advantage.)Pray for us. We are sure that our consciences are clear because we want to live honorably in every way.I especially ask for your prayers so that I may come back to you soon.Don’t forget to show hospitality to believers you don’t know. By doing this some believers have shown hospitality to angels without being aware of it.
All of Moses’ Teachings are summarized in a single statement, “Love your neighbor as you love yourself.”
Dear friends, we must love each other because love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born from God and knows God.
With that, brothers and sisters, I must say goodbye. Make sure that you improve. Accept my encouragement. Share the same attitude and live in peace. The God of love and peace will be with you.
What will separate us from the love Christ has for us? Can trouble, distress, persecution, hunger, nakedness, danger, or violent death separate us from his love?As Scripture says: “We are being killed all day long because of you. We are thought of as sheep to be slaughtered.”The one who loves us gives us an overwhelming victory in all these difficulties.
My dear children, I’m writing this to you so that you will not sin. Yet, if anyone does sin, we have Jesus Christ, who has God’s full approval. He speaks on our behalf when we come into the presence of the Father.
Don’t you know that your body is a temple that belongs to the Holy Spirit? The Holy Spirit, whom you received from God, lives in you. You don’t belong to yourselves.Don’t you know that God’s people will judge the world? So if you’re going to judge the world, aren’t you capable of judging insignificant cases?You were bought for a price. So bring glory to God in the way you use your body.
Do not hold back anything good from those who are entitled to it when you have the power to do so.
Brothers and sisters, I can’t consider myself a winner yet. This is what I do: I don’t look back, I lengthen my stride, andI run straight toward the goal to win the prize that God’s heavenly call offers in Christ Jesus.
We know that all things work together for the good of those who love God—those whom he has called according to his plan.
I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live I live by believing in God’s Son, who loved me and took the punishment for my sins.
No mercy will be shown to those who show no mercy to others. Mercy triumphs over judgment.
“Father, if it is your will, take this cup ⌞of suffering⌟ away from me. However, your will must be done, not mine.”
Since we are surrounded by so many examples ⌞of faith⌟, we must get rid of everything that slows us down, especially sin that distracts us. We must run the race that lies ahead of us and never give up.For a short time our fathers disciplined us as they thought best. Yet, God disciplines us for our own good so that we can become holy like him.We don’t enjoy being disciplined. It always seems to cause more pain than joy. But later on, those who learn from that discipline have peace that comes from doing what is right.Strengthen your tired arms and weak knees.Keep walking along straight paths so that your injured leg won’t get worse. Instead, let it heal.Try to live peacefully with everyone, and try to live holy lives, because if you don’t, you will not see the Lord.Make sure that everyone has kindness from God so that bitterness doesn’t take root and grow up to cause trouble that corrupts many of you.Make sure that no one commits sexual sin or is as concerned about earthly things as Esau was. He sold his rights as the firstborn son for a single meal.You know that afterwards, when he wanted to receive the blessing that the firstborn son was to receive, he was rejected. Even though he begged and cried for the blessing, he couldn’t do anything to change what had happened.You have not come to something that you can feel, to a blazing fire, to darkness, to gloom, to a storm,to a trumpet’s blast, and to a voice. When your ancestors heard that voice, they begged not to hear it say another word.We must focus on Jesus, the source and goal of our faith. He saw the joy ahead of him, so he endured death on the cross and ignored the disgrace it brought him. Now he holds the honored position—the one next to God the Father on the heavenly throne.
Don’t let anyone deceive you. Associating with bad people will ruin decent people.
What should we say then? Should we continue to sin so that God’s kindness will increase?When he died, he died once and for all to sin’s power. But now he lives, and he lives for God.So consider yourselves dead to sin’s power but living for God in the power Christ Jesus gives you.Therefore, never let sin rule your physical body so that you obey its desires.Never offer any part of your body to sin’s power. No part of your body should ever be used to do any ungodly thing. Instead, offer yourselves to God as people who have come back from death and are now alive. Offer all the parts of your body to God. Use them to do everything that God approves of.Certainly, sin shouldn’t have power over you because you’re not controlled by God’s laws, but by God’s favor. Then what is the implication? Should we sin because we are not controlled by God’s laws but by God’s favor? That’s unthinkable!Don’t you know that if you offer to be someone’s slave, you must obey that master? Either your master is sin, or your master is obedience. Letting sin be your master leads to death. Letting obedience be your master leads to God’s approval.You were slaves to sin. But I thank God that you have become wholeheartedly obedient to the teachings which you were given.Freed from sin, you were made slaves who do what God approves of.I’m speaking in a human way because of the weakness of your corrupt nature. Clearly, you once offered all the parts of your body as slaves to sexual perversion and disobedience. This led you to live disobedient lives. Now, in the same way, offer all the parts of your body as slaves that do what God approves of. This leads you to live holy lives.That’s unthinkable! As far as sin is concerned, we have died. So how can we still live under sin’s influence?
I’m convinced that God, who began this good work in you, will carry it through to completion on the day of Christ Jesus.
I’m asking God to give you a gift from the wealth of his glory. I pray that he would give you inner strength and power through his Spirit.Then Christ will live in you through faith. I also pray that love may be the ground into which you sink your roots and on which you have your foundation.
“Of these three men, who do you think was a neighbor to the man who was attacked by robbers?”The expert said, “The one who was kind enough to help him.” Jesus told him, “Go and imitate his example!”
God had Christ, who was sinless, take our sin so that we might receive God’s approval through him.
“You are salt for the earth. But if salt loses its taste, how will it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything except to be thrown out and trampled on by people.“You are light for the world. A city cannot be hidden when it is located on a hill.
I have fought the good fight. I have completed the race. I have kept the faith.The prize that shows I have God’s approval is now waiting for me. The Lord, who is a fair judge, will give me that prize on that day. He will give it not only to me but also to everyone who is eagerly waiting for him to come again.
We are confident that God listens to us if we ask for anything that has his approval.We know that he listens to our requests. So we know that we already have what we ask him for.
The Lord is my shepherd. I am never in need.He makes me lie down in green pastures. He leads me beside peaceful waters.He renews my soul. He guides me along the paths of righteousness for the sake of his name.
Love each other with a warm love that comes from the heart. After all, you have purified yourselves by obeying the truth. As a result you have a sincere love for each other.
Through the peace that ties you together, do your best to maintain the unity that the Spirit gives.
But first, be concerned about his kingdom and what has his approval. Then all these things will be provided for you.
But dedicate your lives to Christ as Lord. Always be ready to defend your confidence ⌞in God⌟ when anyone asks you to explain it. However, make your defense with gentleness and respect.
Some people brought him a paralyzed man on a stretcher. When Jesus saw their faith, he said to the man, “Cheer up, friend! Your sins are forgiven.”
We ask this so that you will live the kind of lives that prove you belong to the Lord. Then you will want to please him in every way as you grow in producing every kind of good work by this knowledge about God.
“Blessed are those who recognize they are spiritually helpless. The kingdom of heaven belongs to them.
So faith comes from hearing the message, and the message that is heard is what Christ spoke.
We know that those who have been born from God don’t go on sinning. Rather, the Son of God protects them, and the evil one can’t harm them.
Once you lived in the dark, but now the Lord has filled you with light. Live as children who have light.Light produces everything that is good, that has God’s approval, and that is true.
But that’s not all. We also brag when we are suffering. We know that suffering creates endurance,endurance creates character, and character creates confidence.
If any of you needs wisdom to know what you should do, you should ask God, and he will give it to you. God is generous to everyone and doesn’t find fault with them.
“I’m leaving you peace. I’m giving you my peace. I don’t give you the kind of peace that the world gives. So don’t be troubled or cowardly.
The Lord is near to those whose hearts are humble. He saves those whose spirits are crushed.
With perfect peace you will protect those whose minds cannot be changed, because they trust you.
Trust the Lord with all your heart, and do not rely on your own understanding.In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths smooth.
Brothers and sisters, I encourage all of you in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ to agree with each other and not to split into opposing groups. I want you to be united in your understanding and opinions.
