When you face hurts, you can find real comfort and guidance in Scripture. God's word reminds us that He is our refuge and strength, especially when things get tough.
Facing hurts with humility and forgiveness can truly heal your wounds and restore relationships. Loving your neighbor is a fundamental command, and that includes loving your enemies and blessing those who persecute you. I know it's a challenge, but it's part of what God calls us to as His followers.
The Bible teaches us that offenses are just a part of life. But it also encourages us to handle them in a way that honors God and leads to reconciliation. In Matthew 18:21-22, Jesus gives us key instruction on forgiveness: "Then Peter came to Jesus and asked, ‘Lord, how many times shall I forgive my brother or sister who sins against me? Up to seven times?’ Jesus answered, ‘I tell you, not seven times, but seventy-seven times.’"
This passage tells me that Jesus wants us to have hearts that don't hold onto bitterness and resentment. He wants us to forgive others, just as our Heavenly Father has forgiven us.
For even Messiah didn’t please himself. But, as it is written, “The reproaches of those who reproached you fell on me.”

And be kind to one another, tender hearted, forgiving each other, just as God also in Messiah forgave you.
His mouth is full of cursing, deceit, and oppression. Under his tongue is mischief and iniquity.

David spoke to the men who stood by him, saying, “What shall be done to the man who kills this Philistine and takes away the reproach from Israel? For who is this uncircumcised Philistine, that he should defy the armies of the living God?”
When David heard that Nabal was dead, he said, “Blessed is the LORD, who has pleaded the cause of my reproach from the hand of Nabal, and has kept back his servant from evil. The LORD has returned the evildoing of Nabal on his own head.” David sent and spoke concerning Abigail, to take her to himself as wife.
As with a sword in my bones, my adversaries reproach me, while they continually ask me, “Where is your God?”
“If your brother sins against you, go, show him his fault between you and him alone. If he listens to you, you have gained back your brother.
not rendering evil for evil or insult for insult; but instead blessing, knowing that you were called to this, that you may inherit a blessing.
For the zeal of your house consumes me. The reproaches of those who reproach you have fallen on me.
“For if you forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you.But if you don’t forgive men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.
Therefore let’s not judge one another any more, but judge this rather, that no man put a stumbling block in his brother’s way, or an occasion for falling.
Reproach has broken my heart, and I am full of heaviness. I looked for some to take pity, but there was none; for comforters, but I found none.
Be careful. If your brother sins against you, rebuke him. If he repents, forgive him.It will be the same way in the day that the Son of Man is revealed. In that day, he who will be on the housetop and his goods in the house, let him not go down to take them away. Let him who is in the field likewise not turn back.Remember Lot’s wife!Whoever seeks to save his life loses it, but whoever loses his life preserves it.I tell you, in that night there will be two people in one bed. One will be taken and the other will be left. There will be two grinding grain together. One will be taken and the other will be left.”They, answering, asked him, “Where, Lord?” He said to them, “Where the body is, there the vultures will also be gathered together.”If he sins against you seven times in the day, and seven times returns, saying, ‘I repent,’ you shall forgive him.”
Pay back to our neighbors seven times into their bosom their reproach with which they have reproached you, Lord.
So, then, my beloved brothers, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, and slow to anger;Count it all joy, my brothers, when you fall into various temptations, for the anger of man doesn’t produce the righteousness of God.
“Don’t judge, so that you won’t be judged.Or if he asks for a fish, who will give him a serpent? If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask him! Therefore, whatever you desire for men to do to you, you shall also do to them; for this is the Torah and the Prophets.“Enter in by the narrow gate; for the gate is wide and the way is broad that leads to destruction, and there are many who enter in by it.How narrow is the gate and the way is restricted that leads to life! There are few who find it. “Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly are ravening wolves.By their fruits you will know them. Do you gather grapes from thorns or figs from thistles?Even so, every good tree produces good fruit, but the corrupt tree produces evil fruit.A good tree can’t produce evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree produce good fruit.Every tree that doesn’t grow good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. For with whatever judgment you judge, you will be judged; and with whatever measure you measure, it will be measured to you.
He who covers an offense promotes love; but he who repeats a matter separates best friends.
The discretion of a man makes him slow to anger. It is his glory to overlook an offense.
It is good to not eat meat, drink wine, nor do anything by which your brother stumbles, is offended, or is made weak.
“They say, ‘If a man puts away his wife, and she goes from him, and becomes another man’s, should he return to her again?’ Wouldn’t that land be greatly polluted? But you have played the prostitute with many lovers; yet return again to me,” says the LORD.
Give no occasion for stumbling, whether to Jews, to Greeks, or to the assembly of God;
“The king will do according to his will. He will exalt himself and magnify himself above every god, and will speak marvelous things against the God of gods. He will prosper until the indignation is accomplished, for that which is determined will be done.

Then the high priest tore his clothing, saying, “He has spoken blasphemy! Why do we need any more witnesses? Behold, now you have heard his blasphemy.
doing nothing through rivalry or through conceit, but in humility, each counting others better than himself;because for the work of Messiah he came near to death, risking his life to supply that which was lacking in your service toward me.each of you not just looking to his own things, but each of you also to the things of others.
And above all things be earnest in your love among yourselves, for love covers a multitude of sins.
The Judeans answered him, “We don’t stone you for a good work, but for blasphemy, because you, being a man, make yourself God.”
There is one who speaks rashly like the piercing of a sword, but the tongue of the wise heals.
Then Peter came and said to him, “Lord, how often shall my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? Until seven times?”Yeshua said to him, “I don’t tell you until seven times, but, until seventy times seven.
Let all bitterness, wrath, anger, outcry, and slander be put away from you, with all malice.
So then, let’s follow after things which make for peace, and things by which we may build one another up.
doesn’t behave itself inappropriately, doesn’t seek its own way, is not provoked, takes no account of evil;
Put on therefore, as God’s chosen ones, holy and beloved, a heart of compassion, kindness, lowliness, humility, and perseverance;bearing with one another, and forgiving each other, if any man has a complaint against any; even as Messiah forgave you, so you also do.
Putting away therefore all wickedness, all deceit, hypocrisies, envies, and all evil speaking,
The beginning of strife is like breaching a dam, therefore stop contention before quarreling breaks out.
Therefore, whatever you desire for men to do to you, you shall also do to them; for this is the Torah and the Prophets.
But if you bite and devour one another, be careful that you don’t consume one another.
Walk in love, even as Messiah also loved us and gave himself up for us, an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweet-smelling fragrance.
Follow after peace with all men, and the sanctification without which no man will see the Lord,
See that no one returns evil for evil to anyone, but always follow after that which is good for one another and for all.
The Lord’s servant must not quarrel, but be gentle toward all, able to teach, patient,
Beloved, let’s love one another, for love is of God; and everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God.He who doesn’t love doesn’t know God, for God is love.
Now we who are strong ought to bear the weaknesses of the weak, and not to please ourselves.Again he says, “Rejoice, you Gentiles, with his people.” Again, “Praise the Lord, all you Gentiles! Let all the peoples praise him.” Again, Isaiah says, “There will be the root of Jesse, he who arises to rule over the Gentiles; in him the Gentiles will hope.” Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that you may abound in hope in the power of the Holy Spirit.I myself am also persuaded about you, my brothers, that you yourselves are full of goodness, filled with all knowledge, able also to admonish others. But I write the more boldly to you in part as reminding you, because of the grace that was given to me by God,that I should be a servant of Messiah Yeshua to the Gentiles, serving as a priest of the Good News of God, that the offering up of the Gentiles might be made acceptable, sanctified by the Holy Spirit.I have therefore my boasting in Messiah Yeshua in things pertaining to God.For I will not dare to speak of any things except those which Messiah worked through me for the obedience of the Gentiles, by word and deed,in the power of signs and wonders, in the power of God’s Spirit; so that from Jerusalem and around as far as to Illyricum, I have fully preached the Good News of Messiah;Let each one of us please his neighbor for that which is good, to be building him up.
One who despises his neighbor is void of wisdom, but a man of understanding holds his peace.
But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceful, gentle, reasonable, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy. Now the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace by those who make peace.
Repay no one evil for evil. Respect what is honorable in the sight of all men.If it is possible, as much as it is up to you, be at peace with all men.Don’t seek revenge yourselves, beloved, but give place to God’s wrath. For it is written, “Vengeance belongs to me; I will repay, says the Lord.”
A brother offended is more difficult than a fortified city. Disputes are like the bars of a fortress.
“You have heard that it was said, ‘An eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth.’But I tell you, don’t resist him who is evil; but whoever strikes you on your right cheek, turn to him the other also.
Don’t say, “I will do to him as he has done to me; I will repay the man according to his work.”
Let no corrupt speech proceed out of your mouth, but only what is good for building others up as the need may be, that it may give grace to those who hear.
But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts. Always be ready to give an answer to everyone who asks you a reason concerning the hope that is in you, with humility and fear, having a good conscience. Thus, while you are spoken against as evildoers, they may be disappointed who curse your good way of life in Messiah.
Let your speech always be with grace, seasoned with salt, that you may know how you ought to answer each one.
Brothers, even if a man is caught in some fault, you who are spiritual must restore such a one in a spirit of gentleness, looking to yourself so that you also aren’t tempted.
Now I also forgive whomever you forgive anything. For if indeed I have forgiven anything, I have forgiven that one for your sakes in the presence of Messiah, that no advantage may be gained over us by Satan, for we are not ignorant of his schemes.
But I tell you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who mistreat you and persecute you,
If anyone among you thinks himself to be religious while he doesn’t bridle his tongue, but deceives his heart, this man’s religion is worthless.
One who is slow to anger is better than the mighty; one who rules his spirit, than he who takes a city.
For, “He who would love life and see good days, let him keep his tongue from evil and his lips from speaking deceit.Let him turn away from evil and do good. Let him seek peace and pursue it.
“Woe to the world because of occasions of stumbling! For it must be that the occasions come, but woe to that person through whom the occasion comes!
But be careful that by no means does this liberty of yours become a stumbling block to the weak.
He said to the disciples, “It is impossible that no occasions of stumbling should come, but woe to him through whom they come!
Therefore, if food causes my brother to stumble, I will eat no meat forever more, that I don’t cause my brother to stumble.
but whoever causes one of these little ones who believe in me to stumble, it would be better for him if a huge millstone were hung around his neck and that he were sunk in the depths of the sea.
I tell you that every idle word that men speak, they will give account of it in the day of judgment. For by your words you will be justified, and by your words you will be condemned.”
Therefore it is already altogether a defect in you that you have lawsuits one with another. Why not rather be wronged? Why not rather be defrauded? No, but you yourselves do wrong and defraud, and that against your brothers.
You fathers, don’t provoke your children to wrath, but nurture them in the discipline and instruction of the Lord.
“Blessed are you when people reproach you, persecute you, and say all kinds of evil against you falsely, for my sake.
Don’t grumble, brothers, against one another, so that you won’t be judged. Behold, the judge stands at the door.
He who is slow to anger has great understanding, but he who has a quick temper displays folly.
with all lowliness and humility, with patience, bearing with one another in love,But you didn’t learn Messiah that way,if indeed you heard him and were taught in him, even as truth is in Yeshua:that you put away, as concerning your former way of life, the old man that grows corrupt after the lusts of deceit, and that you be renewed in the spirit of your mind, and put on the new man, who in the likeness of God has been created in righteousness and holiness of truth. Therefore, putting away falsehood, speak truth each one with his neighbor, for we are members of one another.“Be angry, and don’t sin.” Don’t let the sun go down on your wrath, and don’t give place to the devil.Let him who stole steal no more; but rather let him labor, producing with his hands something that is good, that he may have something to give to him who has need.Let no corrupt speech proceed out of your mouth, but only what is good for building others up as the need may be, that it may give grace to those who hear.being eager to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.
In the multitude of words there is no lack of disobedience, but he who restrains his lips does wisely.
“All things are lawful for me,” but not all things are profitable. “All things are lawful for me,” but not all things build up.Let no one seek his own, but each one his neighbor’s good.
But you, why do you judge your brother? Or you again, why do you despise your brother? For we will all stand before the judgment seat of Messiah.
When he was cursed, he didn’t curse back. When he suffered, he didn’t threaten, but committed himself to him who judges righteously.
In love of the brothers be tenderly affectionate to one another; in honor prefer one another,
A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another. Just as I have loved you, you also love one another.By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.”
He who loves his brother remains in the light, and there is no occasion for stumbling in him.
