Beloved, never avenge yourselves, but leave room for the wrath of God; for it is written, “Vengeance is mine, I will repay, says the Lord.”Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your minds, so that you may discern what is the will of God—what is good and acceptable and perfect. No, “if your enemies are hungry, feed them; if they are thirsty, give them something to drink; for by doing this you will heap burning coals on their heads.”Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.
Put away from you all bitterness and wrath and anger and wrangling and slander, together with all malice, and be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ has forgiven you.
Bear with one another and, if anyone has a complaint against another, forgive each other; just as the Lord has forgiven you, so you also must forgive.
Those who say, “I love God,” and hate their brothers or sisters, are liars; for those who do not love a brother or sister whom they have seen, cannot love God whom they have not seen. The commandment we have from him is this: those who love God must love their brothers and sisters also.
Love is patient; love is kind; love is not envious or boastful or arrogantor rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful;
Do not repay evil for evil or abuse for abuse; but, on the contrary, repay with a blessing. It is for this that you were called—that you might inherit a blessing.
For if you forgive others their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you;but if you do not forgive others, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.
Do not repay anyone evil for evil, but take thought for what is noble in the sight of all.If it is possible, so far as it depends on you, live peaceably with all.
By contrast, the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, generosity, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. There is no law against such things.
If your enemies are hungry, give them bread to eat; and if they are thirsty, give them water to drink;for you will heap coals of fire on their heads, and the Lord will reward you.
You must understand this, my beloved: let everyone be quick to listen, slow to speak, slow to anger; My brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of any kind, consider it nothing but joy,for your anger does not produce God's righteousness.
“But I say to you that listen, Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, pray for those who abuse you.
All who hate a brother or sister are murderers, and you know that murderers do not have eternal life abiding in them.
One who forgives an affront fosters friendship, but one who dwells on disputes will alienate a friend.
See that none of you repays evil for evil, but always seek to do good to one another and to all.
No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us.For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor rulers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Finally, beloved, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is pleasing, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence and if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things.
“In everything do to others as you would have them do to you; for this is the law and the prophets.
Beloved, let us love one another, because love is from God; everyone who loves is born of God and knows God.Whoever does not love does not know God, for God is love.
Be on your guard! If another disciple sins, you must rebuke the offender, and if there is repentance, you must forgive.—it will be like that on the day that the Son of Man is revealed. On that day, anyone on the housetop who has belongings in the house must not come down to take them away; and likewise anyone in the field must not turn back.Remember Lot's wife. Those who try to make their life secure will lose it, but those who lose their life will keep it.I tell you, on that night there will be two in one bed; one will be taken and the other left. There will be two women grinding meal together; one will be taken and the other left.”Then they asked him, “Where, Lord?” He said to them, “Where the corpse is, there the vultures will gather.”And if the same person sins against you seven times a day, and turns back to you seven times and says, ‘I repent,’ you must forgive.”
and hope does not disappoint us, because God's love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit that has been given to us.
One who is slow to anger is better than the mighty, and one whose temper is controlled than one who captures a city.
But the wisdom from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, willing to yield, full of mercy and good fruits, without a trace of partiality or hypocrisy. And a harvest of righteousness is sown in peace for those who make peace.
it does not rejoice in wrongdoing, but rejoices in the truth. It bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.
Those with good sense are slow to anger, and it is their glory to overlook an offense.
I give you a new commandment, that you love one another. Just as I have loved you, you also should love one another.By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.”
Then Peter came and said to him, “Lord, if another member of the church sins against me, how often should I forgive? As many as seven times?”Jesus said to him, “Not seven times, but, I tell you, seventy-seven times.
Those who are hot-tempered stir up strife, but those who are slow to anger calm contention.
I desire, then, that in every place the men should pray, lifting up holy hands without anger or argument;
For you, O Lord, are good and forgiving, abounding in steadfast love to all who call on you.
My friends, if anyone is detected in a transgression, you who have received the Spirit should restore such a one in a spirit of gentleness. Take care that you yourselves are not tempted.
Therefore be imitators of God, as beloved children,Try to find out what is pleasing to the Lord.Take no part in the unfruitful works of darkness, but instead expose them. For it is shameful even to mention what such people do secretly;but everything exposed by the light becomes visible, for everything that becomes visible is light. Therefore it says, “Sleeper, awake! Rise from the dead, and Christ will shine on you.”Be careful then how you live, not as unwise people but as wise, making the most of the time, because the days are evil.So do not be foolish, but understand what the will of the Lord is.Do not get drunk with wine, for that is debauchery; but be filled with the Spirit,as you sing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs among yourselves, singing and making melody to the Lord in your hearts, and live in love, as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us, a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God.
Then Jesus said, “Father, forgive them; for they do not know what they are doing.”] And they cast lots to divide his clothing.
For judgment will be without mercy to anyone who has shown no mercy; mercy triumphs over judgment.
Anyone whom you forgive, I also forgive. What I have forgiven, if I have forgiven anything, has been for your sake in the presence of Christ. And we do this so that we may not be outwitted by Satan; for we are not ignorant of his designs.
Trust in the Lord, and do good; so you will live in the land, and enjoy security. The mouths of the righteous utter wisdom, and their tongues speak justice. The law of their God is in their hearts; their steps do not slip. The wicked watch for the righteous, and seek to kill them. The Lord will not abandon them to their power, or let them be condemned when they are brought to trial.Wait for the Lord, and keep to his way, and he will exalt you to inherit the land; you will look on the destruction of the wicked.I have seen the wicked oppressing, and towering like a cedar of Lebanon. Again I passed by, and they were no more; though I sought them, they could not be found.Mark the blameless, and behold the upright, for there is posterity for the peaceable. But transgressors shall be altogether destroyed; the posterity of the wicked shall be cut off.The salvation of the righteous is from the Lord; he is their refuge in the time of trouble.Take delight in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart.
Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled, and do not let them be afraid.
Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not rely on your own insight. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.
Pursue peace with everyone, and the holiness without which no one will see the Lord.See to it that no one fails to obtain the grace of God; that no root of bitterness springs up and causes trouble, and through it many become defiled.
And let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in the one body. And be thankful.
Rid yourselves, therefore, of all malice, and all guile, insincerity, envy, and all slander.
Whoever is slow to anger has great understanding, but one who has a hasty temper exalts folly.
with all humility and gentleness, with patience, bearing with one another in love,That is not the way you learned Christ! For surely you have heard about him and were taught in him, as truth is in Jesus. You were taught to put away your former way of life, your old self, corrupt and deluded by its lusts, and to be renewed in the spirit of your minds, and to clothe yourselves with the new self, created according to the likeness of God in true righteousness and holiness. So then, putting away falsehood, let all of us speak the truth to our neighbors, for we are members of one another.Be angry but do not sin; do not let the sun go down on your anger, and do not make room for the devil.Thieves must give up stealing; rather let them labor and work honestly with their own hands, so as to have something to share with the needy.Let no evil talk come out of your mouths, but only what is useful for building up, as there is need, so that your words may give grace to those who hear.making every effort to maintain the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.
And now faith, hope, and love abide, these three; and the greatest of these is love.
May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that you may abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.
The Lord is gracious and merciful, slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love. The Lord is good to all, and his compassion is over all that he has made.
For “Those who desire life and desire to see good days, let them keep their tongues from evil and their lips from speaking deceit;let them turn away from evil and do good; let them seek peace and pursue it.
For the whole law is summed up in a single commandment, “You shall love your neighbor as yourself.”If, however, you bite and devour one another, take care that you are not consumed by one another.
Let no evil talk come out of your mouths, but only what is useful for building up, as there is need, so that your words may give grace to those who hear.
As God's chosen ones, holy and beloved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience.
“Do not judge, so that you may not be judged.Or if the child asks for a fish, will give a snake? If you then, who are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good things to those who ask him!“In everything do to others as you would have them do to you; for this is the law and the prophets.“Enter through the narrow gate; for the gate is wide and the road is easy that leads to destruction, and there are many who take it.For the gate is narrow and the road is hard that leads to life, and there are few who find it.“Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep's clothing but inwardly are ravenous wolves. You will know them by their fruits. Are grapes gathered from thorns, or figs from thistles? In the same way, every good tree bears good fruit, but the bad tree bears bad fruit.A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, nor can a bad tree bear good fruit.Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. For with the judgment you make you will be judged, and the measure you give will be the measure you get.
For this is the message you have heard from the beginning, that we should love one another.
Therefore you have no excuse, whoever you are, when you judge others; for in passing judgment on another you condemn yourself, because you, the judge, are doing the very same things.
Do nothing from selfish ambition or conceit, but in humility regard others as better than yourselves.because he came close to death for the work of Christ, risking his life to make up for those services that you could not give me.Let each of you look not to your own interests, but to the interests of others.
He answered, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your strength, and with all your mind; and your neighbor as yourself.”
There is no fear in love, but perfect love casts out fear; for fear has to do with punishment, and whoever fears has not reached perfection in love.
Search me, O God, and know my heart; test me and know my thoughts.See if there is any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.
Owe no one anything, except to love one another; for the one who loves another has fulfilled the law.
Above all, clothe yourselves with love, which binds everything together in perfect harmony.
So then, putting away falsehood, let all of us speak the truth to our neighbors, for we are members of one another.
Keep your tongue from evil, and your lips from speaking deceit.Depart from evil, and do good; seek peace, and pursue it.
When he was abused, he did not return abuse; when he suffered, he did not threaten; but he entrusted himself to the one who judges justly.
I appeal to you therefore, brothers and sisters, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship.love one another with mutual affection; outdo one another in showing honor.Do not lag in zeal, be ardent in spirit, serve the Lord.Rejoice in hope, be patient in suffering, persevere in prayer.Contribute to the needs of the saints; extend hospitality to strangers.Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse them.Rejoice with those who rejoice, weep with those who weep.Live in harmony with one another; do not be haughty, but associate with the lowly; do not claim to be wiser than you are.Do not repay anyone evil for evil, but take thought for what is noble in the sight of all.If it is possible, so far as it depends on you, live peaceably with all.Beloved, never avenge yourselves, but leave room for the wrath of God; for it is written, “Vengeance is mine, I will repay, says the Lord.”Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your minds, so that you may discern what is the will of God—what is good and acceptable and perfect.
Therefore encourage one another and build up each other, as indeed you are doing.
If any of you is lacking in wisdom, ask God, who gives to all generously and ungrudgingly, and it will be given you.
One who spares words is knowledgeable; one who is cool in spirit has understanding.Even fools who keep silent are considered wise; when they close their lips, they are deemed intelligent.
Finally, brothers and sisters, farewell. Put things in order, listen to my appeal, agree with one another, live in peace; and the God of love and peace will be with you.
Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God; for many false prophets have gone out into the world.
Be careful then how you live, not as unwise people but as wise, making the most of the time, because the days are evil.
Commit your way to the Lord; trust in him, and he will act.He will make your vindication shine like the light, and the justice of your cause like the noonday.
When they kept on questioning him, he straightened up and said to them, “Let anyone among you who is without sin be the first to throw a stone at her.”
Do not worry about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
By contrast, the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, generosity, faithfulness,
that there may be no dissension within the body, but the members may have the same care for one another. If one member suffers, all suffer together with it; if one member is honored, all rejoice together with it.
And let us consider how to provoke one another to love and good deeds, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day approaching.
For our struggle is not against enemies of blood and flesh, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers of this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places.
“If another member of the church sins against you, go and point out the fault when the two of you are alone. If the member listens to you, you have regained that one.
Above all, maintain constant love for one another, for love covers a multitude of sins.Be hospitable to one another without complaining.
An ally offended is stronger than a city; such quarreling is like the bars of a castle.
Trust in him at all times, O people; pour out your heart before him; God is a refuge for us. Selah
We know love by this, that he laid down his life for us—and we ought to lay down our lives for one another.
We who are strong ought to put up with the failings of the weak, and not to please ourselves.
who consoles us in all our affliction, so that we may be able to console those who are in any affliction with the consolation with which we ourselves are consoled by God.
and be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ has forgiven you.
Cast your burden on the Lord, and he will sustain you; he will never permit the righteous to be moved.
Keep your lives free from the love of money, and be content with what you have; for he has said, “I will never leave you or forsake you.”So we can say with confidence, “The Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid. What can anyone do to me?”
Therefore confess your sins to one another, and pray for one another, so that you may be healed. The prayer of the righteous is powerful and effective.
He said to him, “ ‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind.’This is the greatest and first commandment. And a second is like it: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’
And we urge you, beloved, to admonish the idlers, encourage the faint hearted, help the weak, be patient with all of them.
May the God of steadfastness and encouragement grant you to live in harmony with one another, in accordance with Christ Jesus,so that together you may with one voice glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.
But strive first for the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.
“For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him may not perish but may have eternal life.
For he is our peace; in his flesh he has made both groups into one and has broken down the dividing wall, that is, the hostility between us.
And he said to them, “Take care! Be on your guard against all kinds of greed; for one's life does not consist in the abundance of possessions.”
Do all things without murmuring and arguing,so that you may be blameless and innocent, children of God without blemish in the midst of a crooked and perverse generation, in which you shine like stars in the world.
Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I fear no evil; for you are with me; your rod and your staff— they comfort me.
Let your speech always be gracious, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how you ought to answer everyone.
But as for you, man of God, shun all this; pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, endurance, gentleness.
If we confess our sins, he who is faithful and just will forgive us our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
Stay awake and pray that you may not come into the time of trial; the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.”
To set the mind on the flesh is death, but to set the mind on the Spirit is life and peace.
So then, whenever we have an opportunity, let us work for the good of all, and especially for those of the family of faith.
I have said this to you, so that in me you may have peace. In the world you face persecution. But take courage; I have conquered the world!”
In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father in heaven.
