My friends, don’t try to punish people when they do wrong to you. Wait for God to punish them with his anger. It is written: “I am the One who punishes; I will pay people back,” {\cf2\super [132]} says the Lord.But you should do this: “If your enemy is hungry, feed him; if your enemy is thirsty, give him something to drink. In this way you will make that person ashamed. {\cf2\super [133]} ” {\cf2\super [134]}Don’t let evil defeat you. You should defeat evil by doing good.
Don’t be angry with each other, but forgive each other. If another person does something wrong against you, then forgive that person. Forgive other people because the Lord forgave you.
If a person says, “I love God,” but that person hates his brother or sister \{in Christ\}, then that person is a liar. That person can see his brother, but he hates him. So that person cannot love God, because he has never seen God!And he (God) gave us this command: The person who loves God must also love his brothers and sisters \{in Christ\}.
Love is patient, and love is kind. Love is not jealous, it does not boast, and it is not proud.Love is not rude, love is not selfish, and love does not become angry easily. Love does not remember wrongs done against it.
Don’t do wrong to a person to pay him back for doing wrong to you. Or don’t say something bad to a person to pay him back for saying something bad to you. But \{ask God to\} bless that person. Do this, because you yourselves were called to receive a blessing.
Yes, if you forgive other people for the things they do wrong, then your Father in heaven will also forgive you for the things you do wrong.But if you don’t forgive the wrong things people do to you, then your Father in heaven will not forgive the wrong things you do.
If someone does wrong to you, don’t pay him back by doing wrong to him. Try to do the things that all people think are good.Do the best you can to live in peace with all people.
But the Spirit {\cf2\super [74]} gives love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,gentleness, self-control. There is no law that can say these things are wrong.
If your enemy is hungry, give him food to eat. If your enemy is thirsty, give him water to drink.If you do this, then you will make him ashamed. It is like putting burning coals on his head. And the Lord will reward you because you were good to your enemy.
My dear brothers and sisters, always be more willing to listen than to speak. Don’t become angry easily.A person’s anger does not help him live right like God wants.
“I say to you people that are listening to me, love your enemies. Do good to those people that hate you.Ask God to bless those people that say bad things to you. Pray for those people that are mean to you.
Every person who hates his brother or sister is a murderer. {\cf2\super [12]} And you know that no murderer has eternal life in him.
Don’t be angry! Don’t get mad!\par Don’t become so upset\par that you also want to do bad things.\par
If you forgive a person who does wrong to you, then you can be friends. But if you continue to remember the wrong that he did, then it will hurt your friendship.
Stop doing bad things!\par Do good things.\par Work for peace.\par Run after peace until you catch it.\par
Be sure that no person pays back wrong for wrong. But always try to do what is good for each other and for all people.
When you become angry, don’t let that anger make you sin. And don’t continue to be angry all day.
Brothers and sisters, continue to think about the things that are good and worthy of praise. Think about the things that are true and honorable and right and pure and beautiful and respected.

It is better to be patient than to be a strong soldier. It is better to control your anger than to take control over a whole city.
But the wisdom that comes from God is like this: First, it is pure. It is also peaceful, gentle, and easy to please. This wisdom is always ready to help people who have trouble and to do good things for other people. This wisdom is always fair and honest.People who work for peace in a peaceful way get the good things that come from right living.
Love is not happy with evil, but love is happy with the truth.Love patiently accepts all things. Love always trusts, always hopes, and always continues strong.
If a person is wise, that wisdom gives him patience. And it is wonderful when he forgives people who do wrong to him.
“I give you a new command: Love each other. You must love each other like I loved you.All people will know that you are my followers if you love each other.”
Then Peter came to Jesus and asked, “Lord, when my brother won’t stop doing wrong to me, how many times must I forgive him? Should I forgive him as many as seven times?”Jesus answered, “I tell you, you must forgive him more than seven times. I want men everywhere to pray. These men who lift up their hands in prayer must be pleasing to God. They must not be men who become angry and have arguments.
Master, you are good and merciful.\par Your people call to you for help.\par You really love those people.\par
Brothers and sisters, a person in your group might do something wrong. You people who are spiritual should go to the person who is sinning. You should help to make him right again. You should do this in a gentle way. But be careful! You might be tempted to sin, too.
You are God’s children that he loves. So try to be like God.Live a life of love. Love other people the same as Christ loved us. Christ gave himself for us—he was a sweet-smelling offering and sacrifice {\cf2\super [37]} to God.
Jesus said, “Father, forgive these people \{that are killing me\}. They don’t know what they are doing. {\cf2\super [377]} ”
The Lord is compassionate and merciful.\par God is patient and full of love.\parThe Lord does not always criticize.\par The Lord does not stay angry at us forever.\parWe sinned against God\par but he didn’t give us\par the punishment we deserved.\par
Yes, you must show mercy to other people. If you do not show mercy, then God will not show mercy to you when he judges you. But the person who shows mercy can stand without fear when he is judged.
So let us try as hard as we can to do the things that make peace. And let us try to do the things that will help each other.

Love each other in a way that you feel close to each other like brothers and sisters. You should want to give your brothers and sisters more honor than you want for yourself.
A person says, “I am in the light. {\cf2\super [4]} ” But if that person hates his brother or sister \{in Christ\}, then he is still in the darkness (sin).The person that loves his brothers and sisters lives in the light, and there is nothing in that person that will make him do wrong.But the person who hates his brother or sister is in darkness. He lives in darkness. That person does not know where he is going. Why? Because the darkness has made him blind.
Let the peace that Christ gives control your thinking. You were all called together in one body {\cf2\super [19]} to have peace. Always be thankful.
So don’t do anything to hurt \{other people\}, don’t lie, don’t do things to fool people, don’t be jealous, don’t say bad things about people. Put all these things out of your life.
What great blessings there are for the people that work to bring peace!\par God will call them his sons and daughters.\par
But Christ died for us while we were still sinners. In that way God showed us that he loves us very much.
A patient person is very smart. A person who is easily angered shows that he is a fool.
Always be humble and gentle. Be patient and accept each other with love.You are joined together with peace through the Spirit. {\cf2\super [28]} Do all you can to continue together in this way. Let peace hold you together.
So these three things continue: faith, hope, and love. And the greatest of these is love.
I pray that the God who gives hope will fill you with much joy and peace while you trust in him. Then you will have more and more hope, and it will flow out of you by the power of the Holy Spirit. {\cf2\super [150]}
We don’t need to write to you about having love for your brothers and sisters in Christ. God has already taught you to love each other.And truly you do love the brothers and sisters in all of Macedonia. Brothers and sisters, now we encourage you to love them more and more.
The Lord is kind and merciful.\par The Lord is patient and full of love.\parThe Lord is good to every person.\par God shows his mercy to everything he made.\par
A foolish person is easily upset. But a smart {\cf2\super [16]} person quickly forgives other people if they say something wrong.
\{The Scripture {\cf2\super [24]} says,\}That person must stop doing evil\par and do good;\par that person should look for peace\par and try to get it.\par
The whole law {\cf2\super [69]} is made complete in this one command: “Love other people the same as you love yourself.” {\cf2\super [70]}If you continue hurting each other and tearing each other apart, be careful! You will completely destroy each other.
God has chosen you and made you his holy people. {\cf2\super [18]} He loves you. So always do these things: Show mercy to people; be kind, humble, gentle, and patient.
What great blessings there are for the people that give mercy to other people!\par Mercy will be given to them.\par
Patient talk can make any person change his thinking, even a ruler. Gentle talk is very powerful.
People who love your teachings\par will find true peace.\par Nothing can make those people fall.\par
“Don’t judge other people, and God will not judge you.If you judge other people, you will be judged in the same way you judge them. And the way you give to other people will be the way God gives to you.
So do you think that you can judge those other people? You are wrong. You too are guilty of sin. You judge those people, but you do the same bad things they do. So when you judge them, you are really judging yourself guilty.
When you do things, don’t let selfishness or pride be your guide. Be humble and give more honor to other people than to yourselves.Don’t be interested only in your own life, but be interested in the lives of other people, too.
The man answered, “‘You must love the Lord your God. You must love him with all your heart, all your soul, all your strength, and all your mind.’ {\cf2\super [192]} Also, ‘You must love other people the same as you love yourself.’ {\cf2\super [193]} ”
Where \{God’s\} love is, there is no fear. Why? Because God’s perfect love takes away fear. It is \{God’s\} punishment that makes a person fear. So \{God’s\} love is not made perfect in the person who has fear.

No person should try to do the things that will help \{only\} himself. He should try to do what is good for other people.
Don’t owe people anything. But you will always owe love to each other. The person that loves other people has obeyed all the law. {\cf2\super [135]}
Do all these things; but most important, love each other. Love is the thing that holds you all together in perfect unity.
So you must stop telling lies. You must always speak the truth to each other, because we all belong to each other in the same body.

People said bad things to Christ, but he did not say bad things to them. Christ suffered, but he did not threaten (speak against) the people. No! Christ let God take care of him. God is the One who judges rightly.
So brothers and sisters, I beg you to do something. God has shown us great mercy. So offer your lives as a living sacrifice {\cf2\super [130]} to God. Your offering must be only for God and will be pleasing to him. This offering of yourselves is the spiritual way for you to worship (serve) God.Don’t change yourselves to be like the people of this world. But let God change you inside with a new way of thinking. Then you will be able to decide and accept what God wants for you. You will be able to know what things are good and pleasing to God and what things are perfect.
So encourage each other and make each other stronger \{in faith\}. And you are doing that now.
But if any of you needs wisdom, then you should ask God for it. God is generous. He enjoys giving to all people. So God will give you wisdom.
Now, brothers and sisters, I say good-bye. Try to be perfect. Do the things I have asked you to do. Agree in your minds with each other, and live in peace. Then the God of love and peace will be with you.
My dear friends, many false prophets {\cf2\super [14]} are in the world now. So don’t believe every spirit. But test the spirits to see if they are from God.
So be very careful how you live. Don’t live like people who are not wise. But live wisely.I mean that you should use every chance you have for doing good, because these are evil times.
Depend on the Lord.\par Trust him, and he will do\par what must be done.\parLet your goodness and fairness\par shine like the sun at noon.\par
Forgive the sins we have done,\par the same as we have forgiven the people\par that did wrong to us.\par
The Jewish leaders continued to ask Jesus their question. So Jesus stood up and said, “Is there any person here that has never sinned? That person without sin can throw the first rock at this woman.”
The wind that blows from the north brings rain. And in the same way, gossip brings anger.
Don’t worry about anything. But pray and ask God for everything you need. And when you pray, always give thanks.And God’s peace will keep your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus. That peace which God gives is so great that we cannot understand it.

God did this so that our body would not be divided. God wanted the different parts to care the same for each other.If one part of the body suffers, then all the other parts suffer with it. Or if one part of our body is honored, then all the other parts share its honor too.
We should think about each other and see how we can help each other to show love and do good things.We should not quit meeting together. That’s what some people are doing. But we should \{meet together and\} encourage each other. You should do this more and more as you see the Day {\cf2\super [135]} coming.
Our fight is not against people on earth. We are fighting against the rulers and authorities and the powers of this world’s darkness. We are fighting against the spiritual powers of evil in the heavenly places.
“If your brother or sister does something wrong to you, go and tell that person what he did wrong. Do this alone with that person. If that person listens to you, then you have helped that person to be your brother again.
Most important, love each other deeply. Love hides many, many sins.Share your homes with each other without complaining.
If you insult your friend, then he will be harder to win back than a city with strong walls. And arguments separate people like palace gates with strong bars across them.
People, trust God all the time!\par Tell God about all your problems. {\cf2\super [368]} \par God is our place of safety.\par \i (SELAH {\cf2\super [369]})\i0 \par
Lord, you give true peace\par to people who depend on you,\par to people who trust you.\par
This is how we know what real love is: Jesus gave his life for us. So we should give our lives for our brothers and sisters \{in Christ\}.
We are strong with faith. So we should help the people who are weak. We should help those people with their weaknesses. We should not try to please ourselves.
He comforts us every time we have trouble, so that we can comfort other people any time they have trouble. We can comfort them with the same comfort that God gives us.
My enemies are really smooth talkers;\par they talk about peace,\par but they are really planning wars.\par Their words are as slick as oil,\par but those words cut like a knife.\par
Keep your lives free from the love of money. And be satisfied with the things you have. God has said,So we can feel sure and say,
Always tell each other the wrong things you have done. Then pray for each other. Do this so that God can heal you. When a good person prays hard, great things happen.
Jesus answered, “‘You must love the Lord your God. Evil people always want to cause trouble. But people who work for peace will be happy.
Patience and strength come from God. And I pray that God will help you all agree together the way Christ Jesus wants.Then you will all be joined together. And all together you will give glory (praise) to God the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.
The thing you should want most is God’s kingdom and doing the good things God wants you to do. Then all these other things you need will be given to you.
Yes, God loved the world so much that he gave his only Son. God gave his Son so that every person that believes in him would not be lost, but have life forever.

Because of Christ we now have peace. Christ made us both (Jews and non-Jews) one people. The Jews and the non-Jews were separated like there was a wall between them. They hated each other. But Christ broke down that wall of hate by \{giving\} his own body.

We use our tongues to praise our Lord and Father (God), but then we curse (say bad things to) people. And God made those people like himself.Those praises and curses come from the same mouth! My brothers and sisters, this should not happen.
This is true, because if two or three people are together believing in me, I am there with them.”
Even if I walk through a valley\par as dark as the grave, {\cf2\super [140]} \par I will not be afraid of any danger.\par Why? Because you are with me, Lord.\par Your rod and staff {\cf2\super [141]} comfort me.\par
Kind words are like a Tree of Life. {\cf2\super [19]} But lying words will crush a man’s spirit.
When you talk, you should always be kind and wise. Then you will be able to answer every person in the way you should.
But you are a man of God. So you should stay away from all those things. Try to live in the right way, serve God, have faith, love, patience, and gentleness.
But if we confess (admit) our sins, then God will forgive our sins. We can trust God to do this. God does what is right. God will make us clean from all the wrong things we have done.
Stay awake and pray for strength against temptation. Your spirit wants to do what is right. But your body is weak.”
If a person’s thinking is controlled by his sinful self, then there is spiritual death. But if a person’s thinking is controlled by the Spirit, then there is life and peace.
When we have the opportunity to do good to any person, we should do it. But we should give special attention to the people that are in the family of believers (the church).
But the Lord said to me, “My grace (kindness) is enough for you. When you are weak, then my power is made perfect in you.” So I am very happy to boast about my weaknesses. Then Christ’s power can live in me.So I am happy when I have weaknesses. I am happy when people say bad things to me. I am happy when I have hard times. I am happy when people treat me badly. And I am happy when I have problems. All these things are for Christ. And I am happy with these things, because when I am weak, then I am truly strong.
People who think they are better than other people only cause trouble. But people who listen to the things other people tell them are wise.
“I told you these things so that you can have peace in me. In this world you will have trouble. But be brave! I have defeated the world!”
In the same way, you should be a light for other people. Live so that people will see the good things you do. Live so that people will praise your Father in heaven.
