66 Bible verses about the power of Fasting

66 Bible verses about the power of Fasting

The power of fasting really lies in honestly opening your heart to the Lord. It's in that space where His love shines through and transforms every part of who you are. Fasting is something you do when you’re truly seeking Jesus, when you're willing to sacrifice physical needs to ask for a deeper connection with Him.

It strengthens your spirit, grows your faith, and draws you closer to God. By saying "no" to the physical demands of your body, you're saying "yes" to a deeper, more intimate relationship with Him. It's about prioritizing that connection above all else.

When you abstain from food or drink for a set time, it’s like a spiritual and physical cleanse. It helps to clear away anything that might be holding you back or weighing you down.

Remember what Matthew 6:16-171 says – it's not about showing off or seeking attention when you fast. It's about humility and sincerity before the Lord.

Prayer

You are great, oh my God and Redeemer, my help and ever-present aid, my rock and the one who lifts my head. You alone are worthy of all adoration and praise. Lord, help me to maintain a life of fasting and prayer, that I may depend solely on your presence. With a willing heart, I set myself apart for you. Teach me to immerse myself in intimate communion with you, seeking in that secret place your guidance and perfect will for my life through fasting and prayer. Give me the strength to overcome the weaknesses of my body, abstaining from physical food, to be satisfied only by the spiritual. Just like Esther, a courageous and determined woman, who called the people to fast with her for three days, so that she could appear before the king to intercede and save her people, and surely you, my God, gave her the victory. I thank you, Father, for this powerful weapon of fasting, because as a result, you open doors for me and propel me toward your purpose. I see your hand in my life, bringing liberation and restoration to me and all that surrounds me – my family, your church, and my nation – creating a breakthrough in the spiritual realm and destroying every scheme of the enemy. In Jesus' name, Amen.
