Life's storms are inevitable, right? Sometimes we face tough situations, unexpected challenges, and moments of uncertainty. But here's what you need to know:
In the Bible, storms often have symbolic meaning. They represent both God's wrath and the trials and tests in our lives. Some storms are self-generated, like when King David stayed in Jerusalem instead of going to battle. His decision led him to sin and face lasting consequences. Other storms can be caused by Satan, who seeks to disrupt our peace and faith. And, of course, some storms come from the Lord, as part of His plan for our growth and transformation.
Even when facing hardship, remember God is with you. He promises never to leave or forsake you (Hebrews 13:5). Jesus walked on water during a storm and calmed the wind and waves. This teaches us that even in the midst of adversity, we can trust in His power and love. Peace comes after the storm.
God strengthens and guides us through difficulties, and in the end, we find rest in Him. Storms aren't the end of the story. After the rain, the sun comes out. Our faith grows stronger when we trust in God during storms. He gives us the strength to overcome them and molds us into His image.
So, when you face a storm, pray, seek God's Word, and remember you're not alone. God is with you, upholding you, and guiding you toward peace.
I have told you these things so that in me you may have peace. In the world you have trouble and suffering, but take courage – I have conquered the world.”
The Lord is good – indeed, he is a fortress in time of distress, and he protects those who seek refuge in him.
He says, “Stop your striving and recognize that I am God! I will be exalted over the nations! I will be exalted over the earth!”
Be strong and courageous! Do not fear or tremble before them, for the Lord your God is the one who is going with you. He will not fail you or abandon you!”
When you pass through the waters, I am with you; when you pass through the streams, they will not overwhelm you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned; the flames will not harm you.
For you are a protector for the poor, a protector for the needy in their distress, a shelter from the rainstorm, a shade from the heat. Though the breath of tyrants is like a winter rainstorm,
So he got up and rebuked the wind, and said to the sea, “Be quiet! Calm down!” Then the wind stopped, and it was dead calm.
Jesus said to them, “I am the bread of life. The one who comes to me will never go hungry, and the one who believes in me will never be thirsty.
I repeat, be strong and brave! Don’t be afraid and don’t panic, for I, the Lord your God, am with you in all you do.”
The godly cry out and the Lord hears; he saves them from all their troubles. The Lord is near the brokenhearted; he delivers those who are discouraged. The godly face many dangers, but the Lord saves them from each one of them.I will boast in the Lord; let the oppressed hear and rejoice! He protects all his bones; not one of them is broken.
But he said to them, “Why are you cowardly, you people of little faith?” Then he got up and rebuked the winds and the sea, and it was dead calm.
God is our strong refuge; he is truly our helper in times of trouble. He says, “Stop your striving and recognize that I am God! I will be exalted over the nations! I will be exalted over the earth!”The Lord who commands armies is on our side! The God of Jacob is our protector! (Selah)For this reason we do not fear when the earth shakes, and the mountains tumble into the depths of the sea, when its waves crash and foam, and the mountains shake before the surging sea. (Selah)
And my God will supply your every need according to his glorious riches in Christ Jesus.
We are experiencing trouble on every side, but are not crushed; we are perplexed, but not driven to despair;we are persecuted, but not abandoned; we are knocked down, but not destroyed,
And we know that all things work together for good for those who love God, who are called according to his purpose,
From the most remote place on earth I call out to you in my despair. Lead me up to an inaccessible rocky summit!
Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not rely on your own understanding.Acknowledge him in all your ways, and he will make your paths straight.
Don’t be afraid, for I am with you! Don’t be frightened, for I am your God! I strengthen you – yes, I help you – yes, I uphold you with my saving right hand!
My brothers and sisters, consider it nothing but joy when you fall into all sorts of trials,For human anger does not accomplish God’s righteousness. So put away all filth and evil excess and humbly welcome the message implanted within you, which is able to save your souls. But be sure you live out the message and do not merely listen to it and so deceive yourselves. For if someone merely listens to the message and does not live it out, he is like someone who gazes at his own face in a mirror. For he gazes at himself and then goes out and immediately forgets what sort of person he was.But the one who peers into the perfect law of liberty and fixes his attention there, and does not become a forgetful listener but one who lives it out – he will be blessed in what he does.If someone thinks he is religious yet does not bridle his tongue, and so deceives his heart, his religion is futile.Pure and undefiled religion before God the Father is this: to care for orphans and widows in their misfortune and to keep oneself unstained by the world.because you know that the testing of your faith produces endurance. And let endurance have its perfect effect, so that you will be perfect and complete, not deficient in anything.
But when he saw the strong wind he became afraid. And starting to sink, he cried out, “Lord, save me!”
Turn toward me and have mercy on me, for I am alone and oppressed!Deliver me from my distress; rescue me from my suffering!
As for you, the one who lives in the shelter of the sovereign One, and resides in the protective shadow of the mighty king –No harm will overtake you; no illness will come near your home. For he will order his angels to protect you in all you do.They will lift you up in their hands, so you will not slip and fall on a stone. You will subdue a lion and a snake; you will trample underfoot a young lion and a serpent. The Lord says, “Because he is devoted to me, I will deliver him; I will protect him because he is loyal to me.When he calls out to me, I will answer him. I will be with him when he is in trouble; I will rescue him and bring him honor.I will satisfy him with long life, and will let him see my salvation.I say this about the Lord, my shelter and my stronghold, my God in whom I trust –
Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, we must get rid of every weight and the sin that clings so closely, and run with endurance the race set out for us,For they disciplined us for a little while as seemed good to them, but he does so for our benefit, that we may share his holiness. Now all discipline seems painful at the time, not joyful. But later it produces the fruit of peace and righteousness for those trained by it.Therefore, strengthen your listless hands and your weak knees, and make straight paths for your feet, so that what is lame may not be put out of joint but be healed.Pursue peace with everyone, and holiness, for without it no one will see the Lord.See to it that no one comes short of the grace of God, that no one be like a bitter root springing up and causing trouble, and through him many become defiled. And see to it that no one becomes an immoral or godless person like Esau, who sold his own birthright for a single meal. For you know that later when he wanted to inherit the blessing, he was rejected, for he found no opportunity for repentance, although he sought the blessing with tears. For you have not come to something that can be touched, to a burning fire and darkness and gloom and a whirlwindand the blast of a trumpet and a voice uttering words such that those who heard begged to hear no more.keeping our eyes fixed on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of our faith. For the joy set out for him he endured the cross, disregarding its shame, and has taken his seat at the right hand of the throne of God.
In my distress I cried out to the Lord. The Lord answered me and put me in a wide open place. The Lord is on my side, I am not afraid! What can people do to me?
Not only this, but we also rejoice in sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance, and endurance, character, and character, hope. And hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out in our hearts through the Holy Spirit who was given to us.
I look up toward the hills. From where does my help come?My help comes from the Lord, the Creator of heaven and earth!
No trial has overtaken you that is not faced by others. And God is faithful: He will not let you be tried beyond what you are able to bear, but with the trial will also provide a way out so that you may be able to endure it.
For his anger lasts only a brief moment, and his good favor restores one’s life. One may experience sorrow during the night, but joy arrives in the morning.
Even when I must walk in the midst of danger, you revive me. You oppose my angry enemies, and your right hand delivers me.
Even if the mountains are removed and the hills displaced, my devotion will not be removed from you, nor will my covenant of friendship be displaced,” says the Lord, the one who has compassion on you.
The Lord delivers and vindicates me! I fear no one! The Lord protects my life! I am afraid of no one!
Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.Take my yoke on you and learn from me, because I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.“Are you the one who is to come, or should we look for another?”For my yoke is easy to bear, and my load is not hard to carry.”
He gives strength to those who are tired; to the ones who lack power, he gives renewed energy.
But he said to me, “My grace is enough for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” So then, I will boast most gladly about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may reside in me.
Although a righteous person may fall seven times, he gets up again, but the wicked will be brought down by calamity.
Even when I must walk through the darkest valley, I fear no danger, for you are with me; your rod and your staff reassure me.
Your conduct must be free from the love of money and you must be content with what you have, for he has said, “I will never leave you and I will never abandon you.”
He told them, “It was because of your little faith. I tell you the truth, if you have faith the size of a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move; nothing will be impossible for you.”
Finally, be strengthened in the Lord and in the strength of his power.Clothe yourselves with the full armor of God so that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil.
For he did not despise or detest the suffering of the oppressed; he did not ignore him; when he cried out to him, he responded.
For you, O God, tested us; you purified us like refined silver. You led us into a trap; you caused us to suffer. You allowed men to ride over our heads; we passed through fire and water, but you brought us out into a wide open place.
This brings you great joy, although you may have to suffer for a short time in various trials.Such trials show the proven character of your faith, which is much more valuable than gold – gold that is tested by fire, even though it is passing away – and will bring praise and glory and honor when Jesus Christ is revealed.
Don’t be afraid, for I am with you. From the east I will bring your descendants; from the west I will gather you.
Blessed is the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles so that we may be able to comfort those experiencing any trouble with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God.
Do not be anxious about anything. Instead, in every situation, through prayer and petition with thanksgiving, tell your requests to God.And the peace of God that surpasses all understanding will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.
The name of the Lord is like a strong tower; the righteous person runs to it and is set safely on high.
I relied completely on the Lord, and he turned toward me and heard my cry for help.I have not failed to tell about your justice; I spoke about your reliability and deliverance; I have not neglected to tell the great assembly about your loyal love and faithfulness.O Lord, you do not withhold your compassion from me. May your loyal love and faithfulness continually protect me!For innumerable dangers surround me. My sins overtake me so I am unable to see; they outnumber the hairs of my head so my strength fails me.Please be willing, O Lord, to rescue me! O Lord, hurry and help me!May those who are trying to snatch away my life be totally embarrassed and ashamed! May those who want to harm me be turned back and ashamed!May those who say to me, “Aha! Aha!” be humiliated and disgraced!May all those who seek you be happy and rejoice in you! May those who love to experience your deliverance say continually, “May the Lord be praised!”I am oppressed and needy! May the Lord pay attention to me! You are my helper and my deliverer! O my God, do not delay! He lifted me out of the watery pit, out of the slimy mud. He placed my feet on a rock and gave me secure footing. He gave me reason to sing a new song, praising our God. May many see what God has done, so that they might swear allegiance to him and trust in the Lord!
“Everyone who hears these words of mine and does them is like a wise man who built his house on rock. The rain fell, the flood came, and the winds beat against that house, but it did not collapse because it had been founded on rock.
Go, my people! Enter your inner rooms! Close your doors behind you! Hide for a little while, until his angry judgment is over!
For everything there is an appointed time, and an appropriate time for every activity on earth:
When he calls out to me, I will answer him. I will be with him when he is in trouble; I will rescue him and bring him honor.
When I am afraid, I trust in you.In God – I boast in his promise – in God I trust, I am not afraid. What can mere men do to me?
The Lord gives me strength and protects me; he has become my deliverer.”They celebrate deliverance in the tents of the godly. The Lord’s right hand conquers, the Lord’s right hand gives victory, the Lord’s right hand conquers.
May he not allow your foot to slip! May your protector not sleep!Look! Israel’s protector does not sleep or slumber!
Your loyal followers trust in you, for you, Lord, do not abandon those who seek your help.
“Because of the violence done to the oppressed, because of the painful cries of the needy, I will spring into action,” says the Lord. “I will provide the safety they so desperately desire.”
From the deep water I cry out to you, O Lord.O Lord, listen to me! Pay attention to my plea for mercy!
You are my hiding place; you protect me from distress. You surround me with shouts of joy from those celebrating deliverance. (Selah)
The Lord is my shepherd, I lack nothing. He takes me to lush pastures, he leads me to refreshing water. He restores my strength. He leads me down the right paths for the sake of his reputation.
The Lord is near all who cry out to him, all who cry out to him sincerely. He satisfies the desire of his loyal followers; he hears their cry for help and delivers them.
Tell those who panic, “Be strong! Do not fear! Look, your God comes to avenge! With divine retribution he comes to deliver you.”
But those who wait for the Lord’s help find renewed strength; they rise up as if they had eagles’ wings, they run without growing weary, they walk without getting tired.
The Lord deserves praise! Day after day he carries our burden, the God who delivers us. (Selah)
How blessed are those who find their strength in you, and long to travel the roads that lead to your temple!
They came and woke him, saying, “Master, Master, we are about to die!” So he got up and rebuked the wind and the raging waves; they died down, and it was calm.
Dear friends, do not be astonished that a trial by fire is occurring among you, as though something strange were happening to you.But rejoice in the degree that you have shared in the sufferings of Christ, so that when his glory is revealed you may also rejoice and be glad.
But the Lord delivers the godly; he protects them in times of trouble. Then you will take delight in the Lord, and he will answer your prayers. The Lord helps them and rescues them; he rescues them from evil men and delivers them, for they seek his protection.
Therefore let us confidently approach the throne of grace to receive mercy and find grace whenever we need help.
For he will order his angels to protect you in all you do.They will lift you up in their hands, so you will not slip and fall on a stone.
In times of prosperity be joyful, but in times of adversity consider this: God has made one as well as the other, so that no one can discover what the future holds.
Indeed, you are my lamp, Lord. My God illuminates the darkness around me.Indeed, with your help I can charge against an army; by my God’s power I can jump over a wall.
Now may the God of endurance and comfort give you unity with one another in accordance with Christ Jesus,so that together you may with one voice glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.
But the sovereign Lord helps me, so I am not humiliated. For that reason I am steadfastly resolved; I know I will not be put to shame.
My flesh and my heart may grow weak, but God always protects my heart and gives me stability.
And let us hold unwaveringly to the hope that we confess, for the one who made the promise is trustworthy.
But I am like a flourishing olive tree in the house of God; I continually trust in God’s loyal love.I will continually thank you when you execute judgment; I will rely on you, for your loyal followers know you are good.
You will be hated by everyone because of my name.Yet not a hair of your head will perish.By your endurance you will gain your lives.
“Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to them.“Blessed are you when people insult you and persecute you and say all kinds of evil things about you falsely on account of me.Rejoice and be glad because your reward is great in heaven, for they persecuted the prophets before you in the same way.
Do not be afraid of those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Instead, fear the one who is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.
When the Lord restored the well-being of Zion, we thought we were dreaming. At that time we laughed loudly and shouted for joy. At that time the nations said, “The Lord has accomplished great things for these people.”The Lord did indeed accomplish great things for us. We were happy.
For I am the Lord your God, the one who takes hold of your right hand, who says to you, ‘Don’t be afraid, I am helping you.’
For I am sure of this very thing, that the one who began a good work in you will perfect it until the day of Christ Jesus.
for the needy are not permanently ignored, the hopes of the oppressed are not forever dashed.
The Lord strengthens and protects me; I trust in him with all my heart. I am rescued and my heart is full of joy; I will sing to him in gratitude.
Deliver, Lord! For the godly have disappeared; people of integrity have vanished.People lie to one another; they flatter and deceive.
But may all who take shelter in you be happy! May they continually shout for joy! Shelter them so that those who are loyal to you may rejoice!
O Lord, you examine me and know.even there your hand would guide me, your right hand would grab hold of me.If I were to say, “Certainly the darkness will cover me, and the light will turn to night all around me,”even the darkness is not too dark for you to see, and the night is as bright as day; darkness and light are the same to you.Certainly you made my mind and heart; you wove me together in my mother’s womb.I will give you thanks because your deeds are awesome and amazing. You knew me thoroughly;my bones were not hidden from you, when I was made in secret and sewed together in the depths of the earth.Your eyes saw me when I was inside the womb. All the days ordained for me were recorded in your scroll before one of them came into existence. How difficult it is for me to fathom your thoughts about me, O God! How vast is their sum total! If I tried to count them, they would outnumber the grains of sand. Even if I finished counting them, I would still have to contend with you.If only you would kill the wicked, O God! Get away from me, you violent men!You know when I sit down and when I get up; even from far away you understand my motives. They rebel against you and act deceitfully; your enemies lie.O Lord, do I not hate those who hate you, and despise those who oppose you?I absolutely hate them, they have become my enemies!Examine me, and probe my thoughts! Test me, and know my concerns!See if there is any idolatrous tendency in me, and lead me in the reliable ancient path! You carefully observe me when I travel or when I lie down to rest; you are aware of everything I do.
And, after you have suffered for a little while, the God of all grace who called you to his eternal glory in Christ will himself restore, confirm, strengthen, and establish you.
For he will rescue the needy when they cry out for help, and the oppressed who have no defender.
So since we are receiving an unshakable kingdom, let us give thanks, and through this let us offer worship pleasing to God in devotion and awe.
My brothers and sisters, consider it nothing but joy when you fall into all sorts of trials,
So whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do everything for the glory of God.
So we must not grow weary in doing good, for in due time we will reap, if we do not give up.
For this is what the master, the Lord, the Holy One of Israel says: “If you repented and patiently waited for me, you would be delivered; if you calmly trusted in me you would find strength, but you are unwilling.
Who among you fears the Lord? Who obeys his servant? Whoever walks in deep darkness, without light, should trust in the name of the Lord and rely on his God.
For our momentary, light suffering is producing for us an eternal weight of glory far beyond all comparison
with this goal in mind, I strive toward the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.
So then, do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Today has enough trouble of its own.
Your conduct must be free from the love of money and you must be content with what you have, for he has said, “I will never leave you and I will never abandon you.”So we can say with confidence, “The Lord is my helper, and I will not be afraid. What can man do to me?”
The God of peace will quickly crush Satan under your feet. The grace of our Lord Jesus be with you.
An evil person suffers much pain, but the Lord’s faithfulness overwhelms the one who trusts in him.Rejoice in the Lord and be happy, you who are godly! Shout for joy, all you who are morally upright!
Lord, in the morning you will hear me; in the morning I will present my case to you and then wait expectantly for an answer.
I will cry out to God and call for help! I will cry out to God and he will pay attention to me.Then I said, “I am sickened by the thought that the sovereign One might become inactive.I will remember the works of the Lord. Yes, I will remember the amazing things you did long ago!I will think about all you have done; I will reflect upon your deeds!”O God, your deeds are extraordinary! What god can compare to our great God?You are the God who does amazing things; you have revealed your strength among the nations. You delivered your people by your strength – the children of Jacob and Joseph. (Selah)The waters saw you, O God, the waters saw you and trembled. Yes, the depths of the sea shook with fear. The clouds poured down rain; the skies thundered. Yes, your arrows flashed about.Your thunderous voice was heard in the wind; the lightning bolts lit up the world; the earth trembled and shook. You walked through the sea; you passed through the surging waters, but left no footprints. In my time of trouble I sought the Lord. I kept my hand raised in prayer throughout the night. I refused to be comforted.
And this is the confidence that we have before him: that whenever we ask anything according to his will, he hears us.And if we know that he hears us in regard to whatever we ask, then we know that we have the requests that we have asked from him.
Do not avenge yourselves, dear friends, but give place to God’s wrath, for it is written, “Vengeance is mine, I will repay,” says the Lord.
Protect me and deliver me! Please do not let me be humiliated, for I have taken shelter in you!
The Lord will protect you from all harm; he will protect your life. The Lord will protect you in all you do, now and forevermore.
Do not be anxious about anything. Instead, in every situation, through prayer and petition with thanksgiving, tell your requests to God.
In my self-confidence I said, “I will never be upended.”O Lord, in your good favor you made me secure. Then you rejected me and I was terrified.
But the Lord is faithful, and he will strengthen you and protect you from the evil one.
We have this hope as an anchor for the soul, sure and steadfast, which reaches inside behind the curtain,
