The Bible is pretty clear about how important our words are. If I speak with grace and faithfulness, I open myself up to God's blessings. But if I choose unfaithfulness and negativity, well, curses and tough times might follow. My words, you know, they actually have power. They can give life or bring death.
So what I speak out into the world, if it's a blessing, it will manifest. But if it’s a curse, it doesn’t please God. I want to be a constant source of blessing, not cursing anyone, but always looking for the good, for blessings on myself and others. And I think the key to that is spending time in God's Word and really understanding my purpose here as part of Christ's body.
As children of the light, the way I speak needs to reflect God’s heart, you know? I want to be a living example of truth in everything I say. The world’s got plenty of pain, so I want to bring God's blessing to it, planting seeds of peace, harmony, order, and love wherever I go.
Deuteronomy 28:2 reminds me that all these blessings will come upon me and overtake me if I obey the Lord my God.
I will bless those who bless you, but the one who treats you lightly I must curse, and all the families of the earth will bless one another by your name.”
the blessing if you take to heart the commandments of the Lord your God that I am giving you today,
And it will come about that just as you (both Judah and Israel) were a curse to the nations, so I will save you and you will be a blessing. Do not be afraid! Instead, be strong!’
Then Joshua read aloud all the words of the law, including the blessings and the curses, just as they are written in the law scroll.
From the same mouth come blessing and cursing. These things should not be so, my brothers and sisters.
Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us (because it is written, “Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree”)
The Lord’s curse is on the household of the wicked, but he blesses the home of the righteous.
for they had not met the Israelites with food and water, but instead had hired Balaam to curse them. (Our God, however, turned the curse into blessing.)
“If you indeed obey the Lord your God and are careful to observe all his commandments I am giving you today, the Lord your God will elevate you above all the nations of the earth.Then all the peoples of the earth will see that you belong to the Lord, and they will respect you.The Lord will greatly multiply your children, the offspring of your livestock, and the produce of your soil in the land which he promised your ancestors he would give you.The Lord will open for you his good treasure house, the heavens, to give you rain for the land in its season and to bless all you do; you will lend to many nations but you will not borrow from any.The Lord will make you the head and not the tail, and you will always end up at the top and not at the bottom, if you obey his commandments which I am urging you today to be careful to do.But you must not turn away from all the commandments I am giving you today, to either the right or left, nor pursue other gods and worship them.“But if you ignore the Lord your God and are not careful to keep all his commandments and statutes I am giving you today, then all these curses will come upon you in full force:You will be cursed in the city and cursed in the field.Your basket and your mixing bowl will be cursed.Your children will be cursed, as well as the produce of your soil, the calves of your herds, and the lambs of your flocks.You will be cursed when you come in and cursed when you go out.All these blessings will come to you in abundance if you obey the Lord your God:
“But if you ignore the Lord your God and are not careful to keep all his commandments and statutes I am giving you today, then all these curses will come upon you in full force:
Today I invoke heaven and earth as a witness against you that I have set life and death, blessing and curse, before you. Therefore choose life so that you and your descendants may live!Then if you and your descendants turn to the Lord your God and obey him with your whole mind and being just as I am commanding you today,I also call on you to love the Lord your God, to obey him and be loyal to him, for he gives you life and enables you to live continually in the land the Lord promised to give to your ancestors Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.”
Surely those favored by the Lord will possess the land, but those rejected by him will be wiped out.
“When you have experienced all these things, both the blessings and the curses I have set before you, you will reflect upon them in all the nations where the Lord your God has banished you.
We do hard work, toiling with our own hands. When we are verbally abused, we respond with a blessing, when persecuted, we endure,
Take note – I am setting before you today a blessing and a curse:the blessing if you take to heart the commandments of the Lord your God that I am giving you today,and the curse if you pay no attention to his commandments and turn from the way I am setting before you today to pursue other gods you have not known.
But to Adam he said, “Because you obeyed your wife and ate from the tree about which I commanded you, ‘You must not eat from it,’ cursed is the ground thanks to you; in painful toil you will eat of it all the days of your life.

They spend all their time planning how to bring him down. They love to use deceit; they pronounce blessings with their mouths, but inwardly they utter curses. (Selah)
So now, please come and curse this nation for me, for they are too powerful for me. Perhaps I will prevail so that we may conquer them and drive them out of the land. For I know that whoever you bless is blessed, and whoever you curse is cursed.”
“‘If anyone curses his father and mother he must be put to death. He has cursed his father and mother; his blood guilt is on himself.
If you do not listen and take seriously the need to honor my name,” says the Lord who rules over all, “I will send judgment on you and turn your blessings into curses – indeed, I have already done so because you are not taking it to heart.
“The Lord bless you and protect you;The Lord make his face to shine upon you, and be gracious to you;The Lord lift up his countenance upon you and give you peace.”’
How blessed is the one who does not follow the advice of the wicked, or stand in the pathway with sinners, or sit in the assembly of scoffers!Instead he finds pleasure in obeying the Lord’s commands; he meditates on his commands day and night.He is like a tree planted by flowing streams; it yields its fruit at the proper time, and its leaves never fall off. He succeeds in everything he attempts.
You must let no unwholesome word come out of your mouth, but only what is beneficial for the building up of the one in need, that it may give grace to those who hear.

Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love its use will eat its fruit.
He will pay them back for their sin. He will destroy them because of their evil; the Lord our God will destroy them.
He said, “Naked I came from my mother’s womb, and naked I will return there. The Lord gives, and the Lord takes away. May the name of the Lord be blessed!”

These things should not be so, my brothers and sisters.A spring does not pour out fresh water and bitter water from the same opening, does it?Can a fig tree produce olives, my brothers and sisters, or a vine produce figs? Neither can a salt water spring produce fresh water.
Do not return evil for evil or insult for insult, but instead bless others because you were called to inherit a blessing.
For his anger lasts only a brief moment, and his good favor restores one’s life. One may experience sorrow during the night, but joy arrives in the morning.
Do not be deceived. God will not be made a fool. For a person will reap what he sows,because the person who sows to his own flesh will reap corruption from the flesh, but the one who sows to the Spirit will reap eternal life from the Spirit.
How blessed is the one whom you choose, and allow to live in your palace courts. May we be satisfied with the good things of your house – your holy palace.
Then the king will say to those on his right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world.

How blessed is every one of the Lord’s loyal followers, each one who keeps his commands!You will eat what you worked so hard to grow. You will be blessed and secure.
Now without faith it is impossible to please him, for the one who approaches God must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who seek him.
A city is exalted by the blessing provided from the upright, but it is destroyed by the counsel of the wicked.
and also that everyone should eat and drink, and find enjoyment in all his toil, for these things are a gift from God.
you must take the first of all the ground’s produce you harvest from the land the Lord your God is giving you, place it in a basket, and go to the place where he chooses to locate his name.
Lord, you give me stability and prosperity; you make my future secure.It is as if I have been given fertile fields or received a beautiful tract of land.
Whoever pronounces a blessing in the earth will do so in the name of the faithful God; whoever makes an oath in the earth will do so in the name of the faithful God. For past problems will be forgotten; I will no longer think about them.
My blessing is on those people who trust in me, who put their confidence in me.They will be like a tree planted near a stream whose roots spread out toward the water. It has nothing to fear when the heat comes. Its leaves are always green. It has no need to be concerned in a year of drought. It does not stop bearing fruit.
The Lord deserves praise! Day after day he carries our burden, the God who delivers us. (Selah)
