123 Verses of Comfort for the Time of Mourning
Comfort comes like a calming hug, a gentle breeze on your soul, and in the loving words of those around you. And, you know, in those really tough times, you can feel Jesus right there with you. There are people in your life who can offer comfort, holding you up when you feel like you're falling apart, reminding you of how precious you are. God's presence shines through them, like an extension of the Holy Spirit's comfort when you need it most.
It's so important to remember you're not alone in your struggles, even when the tears just won't stop. In those moments, God is reminding you that He loves you. His comfort is like the best medicine, strengthening you from the inside out, filling those deep-down empty spaces. Letting yourself be comforted is like accepting a little bit of heaven, so don't be afraid to open yourself up and let your vulnerability show.
Showing your brokenness isn't weakness. Those who mourn are blessed, finding comfort in the Almighty. So right now, let that comfort sink into your heart, lift your spirits. Even if things seem gray right now, the sun will shine again, and you'll see that even in the hard times, Jesus is right there with you. Even when you don't understand, remember that all things work together for good, according to His purpose for your life. Just like 2 Corinthians 1:3-4 says, God, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, is with us in our troubles, so that we can comfort others with the same comfort we've received. And just as everything is working for your good, you are being comforted so that you can offer comfort and show God's love to a world that really needs it.
Don’t be afraid, for I am with you! Don’t be frightened, for I am your God! I strengthen you – yes, I help you – yes, I uphold you with my saving right hand!
Then I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Advocate to be with you forever –the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot accept, because it does not see him or know him. But you know him, because he resides with you and will be in you.
Blessed is the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort,who comforts us in all our troubles so that we may be able to comfort those experiencing any trouble with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God.
And we know that all things work together for good for those who love God, who are called according to his purpose,
The spirit of the sovereign Lord is upon me, because the Lord has chosen me. He has commissioned me to encourage the poor, to help the brokenhearted, to decree the release of captives, and the freeing of prisoners,I will greatly rejoice in the Lord; I will be overjoyed because of my God. For he clothes me in garments of deliverance; he puts on me a robe symbolizing vindication. They will be called oaks of righteousness, trees planted by the Lord to reveal his splendor.
Even when I must walk through the darkest valley, I fear no danger, for you are with me; your rod and your staff reassure me.
Now may the God of endurance and comfort give you unity with one another in accordance with Christ Jesus,
“Do not let your hearts be distressed. You believe in God; believe also in me.Do you not believe that I am in the Father, and the Father is in me? Your conduct must be free from the love of money and you must be content with what you have, for he has said, “I will never leave you and I will never abandon you.”

He gives strength to those who are tired; to the ones who lack power, he gives renewed energy.A voice cries out, “In the wilderness clear a way for the Lord; construct in the desert a road for our God.Even youths get tired and weary; even strong young men clumsily stumble.But those who wait for the Lord’s help find renewed strength; they rise up as if they had eagles’ wings, they run without growing weary, they walk without getting tired.
For God alone I patiently wait; he is the one who delivers me.Do not trust in what you can gain by oppression! Do not put false confidence in what you can gain by robbery! If wealth increases, do not become attached to it!God has declared one principle; two principles I have heard: God is strong,and you, O Lord, demonstrate loyal love. Do not be anxious about anything. Instead, in every situation, through prayer and petition with thanksgiving, tell your requests to God.And the peace of God that surpasses all understanding will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.
Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you believe in him, so that you may abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.
My flesh and my heart may grow weak, but God always protects my heart and gives me stability.
Why are you depressed, O my soul? Why are you upset? Wait for God! For I will again give thanks to my God for his saving intervention.
When the Advocate comes, whom I will send you from the Father – the Spirit of truth who goes out from the Father – he will testify about me,

He lifts the coastlands as if they were dust.Not even Lebanon could supply enough firewood for a sacrifice; its wild animals would not provide enough burnt offerings.All the nations are insignificant before him; they are regarded as absolutely nothing.To whom can you compare God? I look up toward the hills. From where does my help come?My help comes from the Lord, the Creator of heaven and earth!

You keep track of my misery. Put my tears in your leather container! Are they not recorded in your scroll?
At that time you will say: “I praise you, O Lord, for even though you were angry with me, your anger subsided, and you consoled me.
Their insults are painful and make me lose heart; I look for sympathy, but receive none, for comforters, but find none.
I relied completely on the Lord, and he turned toward me and heard my cry for help.I have not failed to tell about your justice; I spoke about your reliability and deliverance; I have not neglected to tell the great assembly about your loyal love and faithfulness.O Lord, you do not withhold your compassion from me. May many see what God has done, so that they might swear allegiance to him and trust in the Lord!
Listen, I will tell you a mystery: We will not all sleep, but we will all be changed –in a moment, in the blinking of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised imperishable, and we will be changed.
And let us hold unwaveringly to the hope that we confess, for the one who made the promise is trustworthy.
I rely on the Lord, I rely on him with my whole being; I wait for his assuring word.I yearn for the Lord, more than watchmen do for the morning, yes, more than watchmen do for the morning.
For I consider that our present sufferings cannot even be compared to the glory that will be revealed to us.

When you pass through the waters, I am with you; when you pass through the streams, they will not overwhelm you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned; the flames will not harm you.
Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not rely on your own understanding.Acknowledge him in all your ways, and he will make your paths straight.
I have told you these things so that in me you may have peace. In the world you have trouble and suffering, but take courage – I have conquered the world.”
(See what sort of love the Father has given to us: that we should be called God’s children – and indeed we are! For this reason the world does not know us: because it did not know him.
The Lord is my high ridge, my stronghold, my deliverer. My God is my rocky summit where I take shelter, my shield, the horn that saves me, and my refuge.
Even when I must walk in the midst of danger, you revive me. You oppose my angry enemies, and your right hand delivers me.
The Lord deserves praise! Day after day he carries our burden, the God who delivers us. (Selah)
I am up before dawn crying for help. I find hope in your word.My eyes anticipate the nighttime hours, so that I can meditate on your word.
For we know that if our earthly house, the tent we live in, is dismantled, we have a building from God, a house not built by human hands, that is eternal in the heavens.
The Lord will protect you from all harm; he will protect your life.The Lord will protect you in all you do, now and forevermore.

“I, I am the one who consoles you. Why are you afraid of mortal men, of mere human beings who are as short-lived as grass?

For just as the sufferings of Christ overflow toward us, so also our comfort through Christ overflows to you.
And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying: “Look! The residence of God is among human beings. He will live among them, and they will be his people, and God himself will be with them.He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death will not exist any more – or mourning, or crying, or pain, for the former things have ceased to exist.”
