Comfort comes like a calming hug, a gentle breeze on your soul, and in the loving words of those around you. And, you know, in those really tough times, you can feel Jesus right there with you. There are people in your life who can offer comfort, holding you up when you feel like you're falling apart, reminding you of how precious you are. God's presence shines through them, like an extension of the Holy Spirit's comfort when you need it most.
It's so important to remember you're not alone in your struggles, even when the tears just won't stop. In those moments, God is reminding you that He loves you. His comfort is like the best medicine, strengthening you from the inside out, filling those deep-down empty spaces. Letting yourself be comforted is like accepting a little bit of heaven, so don't be afraid to open yourself up and let your vulnerability show.
Showing your brokenness isn't weakness. Those who mourn are blessed, finding comfort in the Almighty. So right now, let that comfort sink into your heart, lift your spirits. Even if things seem gray right now, the sun will shine again, and you'll see that even in the hard times, Jesus is right there with you. Even when you don't understand, remember that all things work together for good, according to His purpose for your life. Just like 2 Corinthians 1:3-4 says, God, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, is with us in our troubles, so that we can comfort others with the same comfort we've received. And just as everything is working for your good, you are being comforted so that you can offer comfort and show God's love to a world that really needs it.
‘Do not fear, for I am with you; Do not anxiously look about you, for I am your God. I will make you mighty, surely I will help you; Surely I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.’
And I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Advocate, that He may be with you forever; the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it does not see Him or know Him. You know Him because He abides with you and will be in you.
Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our affliction so that we will be able to comfort those who are in any affliction with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God.
And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to His purpose.
The Spirit of Lord Yahweh is upon me Because Yahweh has anointed me To bring good news to the afflicted; He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, To proclaim release to captives And freedom to prisoners, ¶I will rejoice greatly in Yahweh; My soul will rejoice in my God, For He has clothed me with garments of salvation, He has wrapped me with a robe of righteousness, As a bridegroom decks himself with a headdress, And as a bride adorns herself with her jewels. For as the earth brings forth its branches, And as a garden causes the things sown in it to branch out, So Lord Yahweh will cause righteousness and praise To branch out before all the nations. To proclaim the favorable year of Yahweh And the day of vengeance of our God, To comfort all who mourn, To grant those who mourn in Zion, Giving them a headdress instead of ashes, The oil of rejoicing instead of mourning, The mantle of praise instead of a spirit of fainting. So they will be called oaks of righteousness, The planting of Yahweh, that He may show forth His beautiful glory.
¶Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I fear no evil, for You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.
Now may the God of perseverance and encouragement grant you to be of the same mind with one another according to Christ Jesus,
“Do not let your heart be troubled; believe in God, believe also in Me. Do you not believe that I am in the Father, and the Father is in Me? The words that I say to you I do not speak from Myself, but the Father abiding in Me does His works. Believe Me that I am in the Father and the Father is in Me; otherwise believe because of the works themselves. Truly, truly, I say to you, he who believes in Me, the works that I do, he will do also; and greater works than these he will do because I go to the Father. Whatever you ask in My name, this will I do, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If you ask Me anything in My name, I will do it. “If you love Me, you will keep My commandments. And I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Advocate, that He may be with you forever; the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it does not see Him or know Him. You know Him because He abides with you and will be in you. “I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you. After a little while the world will no longer see Me, but you will see Me; because I live, you will live also. In My Father’s house are many dwelling places; if it were not so, I would have told you; for I go to prepare a place for you. On that day you will know that I am in My Father, and you in Me, and I in you. He who has My commandments and keeps them is the one who loves Me; and he who loves Me will be loved by My Father, and I will love him and will disclose Myself to him.” Judas (not Iscariot) *said to Him, “Lord, what then has happened that You are going to disclose Yourself to us and not to the world?” Jesus answered and said to him, “If anyone loves Me, he will keep My word; and My Father will love him, and We will come to him and make Our dwelling with him. He who does not love Me does not keep My words; and the word which you hear is not Mine, but the Father’s who sent Me. “These things I have spoken to you while abiding with you. But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all that I said to you. Peace I leave with you; My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Do not let your heart be troubled, nor let it be fearful. You heard that I said to you, ‘I go away, and I will come to you.’ If you loved Me, you would have rejoiced because I go to the Father, for the Father is greater than I. And now I have told you before it happens, so that when it happens, you may believe. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself, that where I am, there you may be also.
Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort,
Make sure that your way of life is free from the love of money, being content with what you have; for He Himself has said, “I will never desert you, nor will I ever forsake you,”
being strengthened with all power, according to His glorious might, for the attaining of all steadfastness and patience; joyously
He gives power to the weary, And to him who lacks vigor He increases might. ¶A voice is calling, “Prepare the way for Yahweh in the wilderness; Make smooth in the desert a highway for our God. Though youths grow weary and tired, And choice young men stumble badly, Yet those who hope in Yahweh Will gain new power; They will mount up with wings like eagles; They will run and not get tired; They will walk and not become weary.
Surely my soul waits in silence for God; From Him is my salvation. Do not trust in oppression And do not put vain hope in robbery; If riches increase, do not set your heart upon them. ¶Once God has spoken; Twice I have heard this: That strength belongs to God; And that to You, O Lord, belongs lovingkindness, For You repay a man according to his work. Surely He is my rock and my salvation, My stronghold; I shall not be greatly shaken.
Now may our Lord Jesus Christ Himself and God our Father, who has loved us and given us eternal comfort and good hope by grace, encourage your hearts and strengthen them in every good work and word.
To proclaim the favorable year of Yahweh And the day of vengeance of our God, To comfort all who mourn,
Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and petition with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that you will abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.
Why are you in despair, O my soul? And why are you disturbed within me? Wait for God, for I shall still praise Him, The salvation of my presence and my God.
“When the Advocate comes, whom I will send to you from the Father, the Spirit of truth who proceeds from the Father, He will bear witness about Me,
Indeed, Yahweh will comfort Zion; He will comfort all her waste places. And her wilderness He will make like Eden, And her desert like the garden of Yahweh; Joy and gladness will be found in her, Thanksgiving and sound of a melody.
“Come to Me, all who are weary and heavy-laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. and said to Him, “Are You the One who is to come, or shall we look for someone else?” For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.”
For whatever was written in earlier times was written for our instruction, so that through the perseverance and the encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope.
“As one whom his mother comforts, so I will comfort you; And you will be comforted in Jerusalem.”
But we do not want you to be uninformed, brothers, about those who are asleep, so that you will not grieve as do the rest who have no hope. For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so God will bring with Him those who have fallen asleep in Jesus.
“Comfort, O comfort My people,” says your God. Behold, Lord Yahweh will come with strength, With His arm ruling for Him. Behold, His reward is with Him And His recompense before Him. Like a shepherd He will shepherd His flock; In His arm He will gather the lambs And carry them in His bosom; He will gently lead the nursing ewes. ¶Who has measured the waters in the hollow of His hand, And encompassed the heavens by the span, And calculated the dust of the earth by the measure, And weighed the mountains in a balance And the hills in a pair of scales? Who has encompassed the Spirit of Yahweh, Or as His counselor has informed Him? With whom did He take counsel and who gave Him understanding? And who taught Him in the path of justice and taught Him knowledge And made Him know the way of understanding? Behold, the nations are like a drop from a bucket, And are counted as a speck of dust on the scales; Behold, He lifts up the coastlands like fine dust. Even Lebanon is not enough to burn, Nor its beasts enough for a burnt offering. All the nations are as nothing before Him; They are counted by Him as non-existent and utterly formless. ¶To whom then will you liken God? Or what likeness will you compare with Him? As for the graven images, a craftsman casts it, A goldsmith plates it with gold, And a silversmith fashions chains of silver. “Speak to the heart of Jerusalem; And call out to her, that her warfare has been fulfilled, That her iniquity has been removed, That she has received from the hand of Yahweh Double for all her sins.”
who comforts us in all our affliction so that we will be able to comfort those who are in any affliction with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God.
I will lift up my eyes to the mountains; From where shall my help come? My help comes from Yahweh, Who made heaven and earth.
But one who prophesies speaks to men for edification and exhortation and encouragement.
For God has not given us a spirit of timidity, but of power and love and self-discipline.
Now may our Lord Jesus Christ Himself and God our Father, who has loved us and given us eternal comfort and good hope by grace,
¶You have taken account of my wanderings; Put my tears in Your bottle. Are they not in Your book?
Then you will say in that day, “I will give thanks to You, O Yahweh; For although You were angry with me, Your anger is turned away, And You comfort me.
¶Reproach has broken my heart and I am so sick. And I hoped for sympathy, but there was none, And for comforters, but I found none.
I hoped earnestly for Yahweh; And He inclined to me and heard my cry for help. I do not conceal Your righteousness within my heart; I speak of Your faithfulness and Your salvation; I do not hide Your lovingkindness and Your truth from the great assembly. ¶You, O Yahweh, will not withhold Your compassion from me; Your lovingkindness and Your truth will continually guard me. For evils beyond number have surrounded me; My iniquities have overtaken me, so that I am not able to see; They are more numerous than the hairs of my head, And my heart has failed me. ¶Be pleased, O Yahweh, to deliver me; Make haste, O Yahweh, to help me. Let those be ashamed and humiliated together Who seek my life to sweep it away; Let those be turned back and dishonored Who delight in evil against me. Let those be appalled because of their shame Who say to me, “Aha, aha!” Let all who seek You rejoice and be glad in You; Let those who love Your salvation say continually, “Yahweh be magnified!” As for me, I am afflicted and needy, May the Lord think of me. You are my help and the One who rescues me; Do not delay, O my God. He brought me up out of the pit of destruction, out of the miry clay, And He set my feet upon a high rock, He established my steps. He put a new song in my mouth, a song of praise to our God; Many will see and fear And will trust in Yahweh.
Behold, I tell you a mystery: we will not all sleep, but we will all be changed, in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised incorruptible, and we will be changed.
Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful.
¶I hope for Yahweh, my soul does hope, And for His word do I wait. My soul waits for the Lord More than the watchmen for the morning, The watchmen for the morning.
For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory that is to be revealed to us.
For thus says the One high and lifted up Who dwells forever, whose name is Holy, “I dwell on a high and holy place, And also with the crushed and lowly of spirit In order to revive the spirit of the lowly And to revive the heart of the crushed.
God is our refuge and strength, A very present help in trouble. “Cease striving and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.” Yahweh of hosts is with us; The God of Jacob is our stronghold. Selah. Therefore we will not fear, though the earth should change And though the mountains shake into the heart of the sea;
teaching them to keep all that I commanded you; and behold, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”
“When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; And through the rivers, they will not overflow you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be scorched, Nor will the flame burn you.
Trust in Yahweh with all your heart And do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He will make your paths straight.
These things I have spoken to you, so that in Me you may have peace. In the world you have tribulation, but take courage; I have overcome the world.”
See how great a love the Father has given to us, that we would be called children of God; and we are. For this reason the world does not know us, because it did not know Him.
Yahweh is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer, My God, my rock, in whom I take refuge; My shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.
¶Though I walk in the midst of distress, You will revive me; You will stretch forth Your hand against the wrath of my enemies, And Your right hand will save me.
I eagerly greet the dawn and cry for help; I wait for Your words. My eyes eagerly greet the night watches, That I may muse on Your word.
For we know that if the earthly tent which is our house is torn down, we have a building from God, a house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens.
Yahweh will keep you from all evil; He will keep your soul. Yahweh will keep your going out and your coming in From now until forever.
You have turned for me my mourning into dancing; You have loosed my sackcloth and girded me with gladness, That my glory may sing praise to You and not be silent. O Yahweh my God, I will give thanks to You forever.
For we do not have a high priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but One who has been tempted in all things like we are, yet without sin. Therefore let us draw near with confidence to the throne of grace, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need.
If I should say, “My foot has stumbled,” Your lovingkindness, O Yahweh, will hold me up. When my anxious thoughts multiply within me, Your consolations delight my soul.
Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to His great mercy has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, to obtain an inheritance incorruptible and undefiled and unfading, having been kept in heaven for you,
For I am confident of this very thing, that He who began a good work in you will perfect it until the day of Christ Jesus.
¶Cast your burden upon Yahweh and He will sustain you; He will never allow the righteous to be shaken.
“As for God, His way is blameless; The word of Yahweh is tried; He is a shield to all who take refuge in Him.
The name of Yahweh is a strong tower; The righteous runs into it and is set securely on high.
¶Teach me to do Your will, For You are my God; Let Your good Spirit lead me on level ground.
Therefore we do not lose heart, but though our outer man is decaying, yet our inner man is being renewed day by day. For our momentary, light affliction is working out for us an eternal weight of glory far beyond all comparison, while we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen; for the things which are seen are temporal, but the things which are not seen are eternal.
To grant those who mourn in Zion, Giving them a headdress instead of ashes, The oil of rejoicing instead of mourning, The mantle of praise instead of a spirit of fainting. So they will be called oaks of righteousness, The planting of Yahweh, that He may show forth His beautiful glory.
No temptation has overtaken you but such as is common to man, but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will provide the way of escape also, so that you will be able to endure it.
Behold, I am with you and will keep you wherever you go. And I will bring you back to this land; for I will not forsake you until I have done what I have promised you.”
nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing, will be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
And my God will fulfill all your needs according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus.
Bless Yahweh, O my soul, And forget none of His benefits; Bless Yahweh, you His angels, Mighty in strength, who perform His word, Obeying the voice of His word! Bless Yahweh, all you His hosts, You who serve Him, doing His will. Bless Yahweh, all you works of His, In all places of His rule; Bless Yahweh, O my soul! Who pardons all your iniquities, Who heals all your diseases; Who redeems your life from the pit, Who crowns you with lovingkindness and compassion;
In the day of my distress I sought the Lord; In the night my hand was stretched out without weariness; My soul refused to be comforted.
The Spirit of Lord Yahweh is upon me Because Yahweh has anointed me To bring good news to the afflicted; He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, To proclaim release to captives And freedom to prisoners,
But you are a chosen family, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for God’s own possession, so that you may proclaim the excellencies of Him who has called you out of darkness into His marvelous light;
O Yahweh, You have searched me and known me. Even there Your hand will lead me, And Your right hand will lay hold of me. If I say, “Surely the darkness will bruise me, And the light around me will be night,” Even the darkness is not too dark for You, And the night is as bright as the day. Darkness and light are alike to You. ¶For You formed my inward parts; You wove me in my mother’s womb. I will give thanks to You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Wonderful are Your works, And my soul knows it very well. My frame was not hidden from You, When I was made in secret, And intricately woven in the depths of the earth; Your eyes have seen my unshaped substance; And in Your book all of them were written The days that were formed for me, When as yet there was not one of them. ¶How precious are Your thoughts to me, O God! How vast is the sum of them! If I should count them, they would outnumber the sand. When I awake, I am still with You. ¶Oh that You would slay the wicked, O God! O men of bloodshed, depart from me. You know when I sit down and when I rise up; You understand my thought from afar.
The wicked is thrust down by his own evil, But the righteous takes refuge even in his death.
“What profit is there in my blood, if I go down to the pit? Will the dust praise You? Will it declare Your truth?
Then they cried out to Yahweh in their trouble; He saved them out of their distresses. He brought them out of darkness and the shadow of death And broke their bands apart.
I love Yahweh, because He hears My voice and my supplications. I believed when I said, “I am greatly afflicted.” I said in my alarm, “All men are liars.” ¶What shall I give to Yahweh in return For all His bountiful dealings with me? I shall lift up the cup of salvation And call upon the name of Yahweh. I shall pay my vows to Yahweh, Oh may it be in the presence of all His people. Precious in the sight of Yahweh Is the death of His holy ones. O Yahweh, surely I am Your slave, I am Your slave, the son of Your maidservant, You have loosed my bonds. To You I shall offer a sacrifice of thanksgiving, And call upon the name of Yahweh. I shall pay my vows to Yahweh, Oh may it be in the presence of all His people, In the courts of the house of Yahweh, In the midst of you, O Jerusalem. Praise Yah! Because He has inclined His ear to me, So I shall call upon Him in all my days.
“Do not fear, for I am with you; I will bring your seed from the east, And gather you from the west.
Rejoice always; pray without ceasing; in everything give thanks, for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.
Peace I leave with you; My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Do not let your heart be troubled, nor let it be fearful.
For His anger is but for a moment, His favor is for a lifetime; Weeping may last for the night, But a shout of joy comes in the morning.
Yahweh is near to the brokenhearted And saves those who are crushed in spirit. ¶Many are the evils against the righteous, But Yahweh delivers him out of them all.
You, who have shown me many troubles and evils, Will revive me again, And will bring me up again from the depths of the earth. May You increase my greatness And turn to comfort me. ¶I will also praise You with a harp, Even Your truth, O my God; To You I will sing praises with the lyre, O Holy One of Israel.
¶“I, even I, am He who comforts you. Who are you that you are afraid of man who dies And of the son of man who is made like grass,
For I know the plans that I have for you,’ declares Yahweh, ‘plans for peace and not for calamity, to give you a future and a hope. Then you will call upon Me and come and pray to Me, and I will listen to you. You will seek Me and find Me when you search for Me with all your heart.
For just as the sufferings of Christ abound to us, so also our comfort abounds through Christ.
And I heard a loud voice from the throne, saying, “Behold, the tabernacle of God is among men, and He will dwell among them, and they shall be His people, and God Himself will be among them, and He will wipe away every tear from their eyes; and there will no longer be any death; there will no longer be any mourning, or crying, or pain. The first things passed away.”
