Comfort comes like a calming hug, a gentle breeze on your soul, and in the loving words of those around you. And, you know, in those really tough times, you can feel Jesus right there with you. There are people in your life who can offer comfort, holding you up when you feel like you're falling apart, reminding you of how precious you are. God's presence shines through them, like an extension of the Holy Spirit's comfort when you need it most.
It's so important to remember you're not alone in your struggles, even when the tears just won't stop. In those moments, God is reminding you that He loves you. His comfort is like the best medicine, strengthening you from the inside out, filling those deep-down empty spaces. Letting yourself be comforted is like accepting a little bit of heaven, so don't be afraid to open yourself up and let your vulnerability show.
Showing your brokenness isn't weakness. Those who mourn are blessed, finding comfort in the Almighty. So right now, let that comfort sink into your heart, lift your spirits. Even if things seem gray right now, the sun will shine again, and you'll see that even in the hard times, Jesus is right there with you. Even when you don't understand, remember that all things work together for good, according to His purpose for your life. Just like 2 Corinthians 1:3-4 says, God, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, is with us in our troubles, so that we can comfort others with the same comfort we've received. And just as everything is working for your good, you are being comforted so that you can offer comfort and show God's love to a world that really needs it.
Do not fear, for I am with you; do not be afraid, for I am your God. I will strengthen you; I will surely help you; I will uphold you with My right hand of righteousness.
And I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Advocate to be with you forever—the Spirit of truth. The world cannot receive Him, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him. But you do know Him, for He abides with you and will be in you.
Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves have received from God.
And we know that God works all things together for the good of those who love Him, who are called according to His purpose.
The Spirit of the Lord GOD is on Me, because the Lord has anointed Me to preach good news to the poor. He has sent Me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives and freedom to the prisoners, I will rejoice greatly in the Lord, my soul will exult in my God; for He has clothed me with garments of salvation and wrapped me in a robe of righteousness, as a bridegroom wears a priestly headdress, as a bride adorns herself with her jewels. For as the earth brings forth its growth, and as a garden enables seed to spring up, so the Lord GOD will cause righteousness and praise to spring up before all the nations.to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor and the day of our God’s vengeance, to comfort all who mourn,to console the mourners in Zion— to give them a crown of beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, and a garment of praise for a spirit of despair. So they will be called oaks of righteousness, the planting of the Lord, that He may be glorified.
Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.
Now may the God who gives endurance and encouragement grant you harmony with one another in Christ Jesus,
“Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God; believe in Me as well.Do you not believe that I am in the Father and the Father is in Me? The words I say to you, I do not speak on My own. Instead, it is the Father dwelling in Me, performing His works.Believe Me that I am in the Father and the Father is in Me—or at least believe on account of the works themselves.Truly, truly, I tell you, whoever believes in Me will also do the works that I am doing. He will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father. And I will do whatever you ask in My name, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son.If you ask Me for anything in My name, I will do it. If you love Me, you will keep My commandments. And I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Advocate to be with you forever—the Spirit of truth. The world cannot receive Him, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him. But you do know Him, for He abides with you and will be in you. I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you.In a little while the world will see Me no more, but you will see Me. Because I live, you also will live.In My Father’s house are many rooms. If it were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you?On that day you will know that I am in My Father, and you are in Me, and I am in you.Whoever has My commandments and keeps them is the one who loves Me. The one who loves Me will be loved by My Father, and I will love him and reveal Myself to him.”Judas (not Iscariot) asked Him, “Lord, why are You going to reveal Yourself to us and not to the world?”Jesus replied, “If anyone loves Me, he will keep My word. My Father will love him, and We will come to him and make Our home with him.Whoever does not love Me does not keep My words. The word that you hear is not My own, but it is from the Father who sent Me.All this I have spoken to you while I am still with you.But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have told you.Peace I leave with you; My peace I give to you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled; do not be afraid. You heard Me say, ‘I am going away, and I am coming back to you.’ If you loved Me, you would rejoice that I am going to the Father, because the Father is greater than I.And now I have told you before it happens, so that when it does happen, you will believe. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and welcome you into My presence, so that you also may be where I am.
Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort,
Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have, for God has said: “Never will I leave you, never will I forsake you.”
being strengthened with all power according to His glorious might so that you may have full endurance and patience, and joyfully
He gives power to the faint and increases the strength of the weak.A voice of one calling: “Prepare the way for the Lord in the wilderness; make a straight highway for our God in the desert. Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall. But those who wait upon the Lord will renew their strength; they will mount up with wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not faint.
In God alone my soul finds rest; my salvation comes from Him.Place no trust in extortion, or false hope in stolen goods. If your riches increase, do not set your heart upon them.God has spoken once; I have heard this twice: that power belongs to God,and loving devotion to You, O Lord. For You will repay each man according to his deeds. He alone is my rock and my salvation. He is my fortress; I will never be shaken.
Now may our Lord Jesus Christ Himself and God our Father, who by grace has loved us and given us eternal comfort and good hope, encourage your hearts and strengthen you in every good word and deed.
to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor and the day of our God’s vengeance, to comfort all who mourn,
Be anxious for nothing, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you believe in Him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.
My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.
Why are you downcast, O my soul? Why the unease within me? Put your hope in God, for I will yet praise Him, my Savior and my God.
When the Advocate comes, whom I will send to you from the Father—the Spirit of truth who proceeds from the Father—He will testify about Me.
For the Lord will comfort Zion and will look with compassion on all her ruins; He will make her wilderness like Eden and her desert like the garden of the Lord. Joy and gladness will be found in her, thanksgiving and melodious song.
Come to Me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me; for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.to ask Him, “Are You the One who was to come, or should we look for someone else?”For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.”
For everything that was written in the past was written for our instruction, so that through endurance and the encouragement of the Scriptures, we might have hope.
As a mother comforts her son, so will I comfort you, and you will be consoled over Jerusalem.”
Brothers, we do not want you to be uninformed about those who sleep in death, so that you will not grieve like the rest, who are without hope. For since we believe that Jesus died and rose again, we also believe that God will bring with Jesus those who have fallen asleep in Him.
“Comfort, comfort My people,” says your God.Behold, the Lord GOD comes with might, and His arm establishes His rule. His reward is with Him, and His recompense accompanies Him.He tends His flock like a shepherd; He gathers the lambs in His arms and carries them close to His heart. He gently leads the nursing ewes.Who has measured the waters in the hollow of his hand, or marked off the heavens with the span of his hand? Who has held the dust of the earth in a basket, or weighed the mountains on a scale and the hills with a balance?Who has directed the Spirit of the Lord, or informed Him as His counselor? Whom did He consult to enlighten Him, and who taught Him the paths of justice? Who imparted knowledge to Him and showed Him the way of understanding?Surely the nations are like a drop in a bucket; they are considered a speck of dust on the scales; He lifts up the islands like fine dust. Lebanon is not sufficient for fuel, nor its animals enough for a burnt offering. All the nations are as nothing before Him; He regards them as nothingness and emptiness. To whom will you liken God? To what image will you compare Him?To an idol that a craftsman casts and a metalworker overlays with gold and fits with silver chains?“Speak tenderly to Jerusalem, and proclaim to her that her forced labor has been completed; her iniquity has been pardoned. For she has received from the hand of the Lord double for all her sins.”
who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves have received from God.
I lift up my eyes to the hills. From where does my help come?My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth.
But he who prophesies speaks to men for their edification, encouragement, and comfort.
Now may our Lord Jesus Christ Himself and God our Father, who by grace has loved us and given us eternal comfort and good hope,
You have taken account of my wanderings. Put my tears in Your bottle— are they not in Your book?
In that day you will say: “O Lord, I will praise You. Although You were angry with me, Your anger has turned away, and You have comforted me.
Insults have broken my heart, and I am in despair. I looked for sympathy, but there was none, for comforters, but I found no one.
I waited patiently for the Lord; He inclined to me and heard my cry.I have not covered up Your righteousness in my heart; I have declared Your faithfulness and salvation; I have not concealed Your loving devotion and faithfulness from the great assembly.O Lord, do not withhold Your mercy from me; Your loving devotion and faithfulness will always guard me.For evils without number surround me; my sins have overtaken me, so that I cannot see. They are more than the hairs of my head, and my heart has failed within me.Be pleased, O Lord, to deliver me; hurry, O Lord, to help me.May those who seek my life be ashamed and confounded; may those who wish me harm be repelled and humiliated.May those who say to me, “Aha, aha!” be appalled at their own shame.May all who seek You rejoice and be glad in You; may those who love Your salvation always say, “The Lord be magnified!”But I am poor and needy; may the Lord think of me. You are my helper and deliverer; O my God, do not delay. He lifted me up from the pit of despair, out of the miry clay; He set my feet upon a rock, and made my footsteps firm.He put a new song in my mouth, a hymn of praise to our God. Many will see and fear and put their trust in the Lord.
Listen, I tell you a mystery: We will not all sleep, but we will all be changed—in an instant, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, the dead will be raised imperishable, and we will be changed.
I wait for the Lord; my soul does wait, and in His word I put my hope.My soul waits for the Lord more than watchmen wait for the morning— more than watchmen wait for the morning.
I consider that our present sufferings are not comparable to the glory that will be revealed in us.
For thus says the One who is high and lifted up, who inhabits eternity, whose name is Holy: “I dwell in a high and holy place, and with the oppressed and humble in spirit, to restore the spirit of the lowly and revive the heart of the contrite.
God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in times of trouble.“Be still and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted over the earth.”The Lord of Hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our fortress. SelahTherefore we will not fear, though the earth is transformed and the mountains are toppled into the depths of the seas,
and teaching them to obey all that I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”
When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you go through the rivers, they will not overwhelm you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be scorched; the flames will not set you ablaze.
Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding;in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight.
Abundant peace belongs to those who love Your instruction; nothing can make them stumble.
I have told you these things so that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take courage; I have overcome the world!”
Behold what manner of love the Father has given to us, that we should be called children of God. And that is what we are! The reason the world does not know us is that it did not know Him.
The Lord is my rock, my fortress, and my deliverer. My God is my rock, in whom I take refuge, my shield, and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.
If I walk in the midst of trouble, You preserve me from the anger of my foes; You extend Your hand, and Your right hand saves me.
What then shall we say in response to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?
I rise before dawn and cry for help; in Your word I have put my hope.My eyes anticipate the watches of night, that I may meditate on Your word.
Now we know that if the earthly tent we live in is dismantled, we have a building from God, an eternal house in heaven, not built by human hands.
The Lord will guard you from all evil; He will preserve your soul. The Lord will watch over your coming and going, both now and forevermore.
You turned my mourning into dancing; You peeled off my sackcloth and clothed me with joy, that my heart may sing Your praises and not be silent. O Lord my God, I will give thanks forever.
For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who was tempted in every way that we are, yet was without sin.Let us then approach the throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.
If I say, “My foot is slipping,” Your loving devotion, O Lord, supports me.When anxiety overwhelms me, Your consolation delights my soul.
Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! By His great mercy He has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, and into an inheritance that is imperishable, undefiled, and unfading, reserved in heaven for you,
being confident of this, that He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.
Cast your burden upon the Lord and He will sustain you; He will never let the righteous be shaken.
As for God, His way is perfect; the word of the Lord is flawless. He is a shield to all who take refuge in Him.
Teach me to do Your will, for You are my God. May Your good Spirit lead me on level ground.
Therefore we do not lose heart. Though our outer self is wasting away, yet our inner self is being renewed day by day.For our light and momentary affliction is producing for us an eternal glory that is far beyond comparison. So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.
to console the mourners in Zion— to give them a crown of beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, and a garment of praise for a spirit of despair. So they will be called oaks of righteousness, the planting of the Lord, that He may be glorified.
No temptation has seized you except what is common to man. And God is faithful; He will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, He will also provide an escape, so that you can stand up under it.
Look, I am with you, and I will watch over you wherever you go, and I will bring you back to this land. For I will not leave you until I have done what I have promised you.”
neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
And my God will supply all your needs according to His glorious riches in Christ Jesus.
Bless the Lord, O my soul, and do not forget all His kind deeds—Bless the Lord, all His angels mighty in strength who carry out His word, who hearken to the voice of His command.Bless the Lord, all His hosts, you servants who do His will.Bless the Lord, all His works in all places of His dominion. Bless the Lord, O my soul!He who forgives all your iniquities and heals all your diseases, who redeems your life from the Pit and crowns you with loving devotion and compassion,
In the day of trouble I sought the Lord; through the night my outstretched hands did not grow weary; my soul refused to be comforted.
The Spirit of the Lord GOD is on Me, because the Lord has anointed Me to preach good news to the poor. He has sent Me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives and freedom to the prisoners,
But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for God’s own possession, to proclaim the virtues of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light.
O Lord, You have searched me and known me.even there Your hand will guide me; Your right hand will hold me fast.If I say, “Surely the darkness will hide me, and the light become night around me”—even the darkness is not dark to You, but the night shines like the day, for darkness is as light to You.For You formed my inmost being; You knit me together in my mother’s womb.I praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Marvelous are Your works, and I know this very well.My frame was not hidden from You when I was made in secret, when I was woven together in the depths of the earth.Your eyes saw my unformed body; all my days were written in Your book and ordained for me before one of them came to be.How precious to me are Your thoughts, O God, how vast is their sum!If I were to count them, they would outnumber the grains of sand; and when I awake, I am still with You.O God, that You would slay the wicked— away from me, you bloodthirsty men—You know when I sit and when I rise; You understand my thoughts from afar.
The wicked man is thrown down by his own sin, but the righteous man has a refuge even in death.
“What gain is there in my bloodshed, in my descent to the Pit? Will the dust praise You? Will it proclaim Your faithfulness?
Then they cried out to the Lord in their trouble, and He saved them from their distress. He brought them out of darkness and the shadow of death and broke away their chains.
I love the Lord, for He has heard my voice— my appeal for mercy.I believed, therefore I said, “I am greatly afflicted.”In my alarm I said, “All men are liars!”How can I repay the Lord for all His goodness to me?I will lift the cup of salvation and call on the name of the Lord.I will fulfill my vows to the Lord in the presence of all His people.Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of His saints.Truly, O Lord, I am Your servant; I am Your servant, the son of Your maidservant; You have broken my bonds.I will offer to You a sacrifice of thanksgiving and call on the name of the Lord.I will fulfill my vows to the Lord in the presence of all His people,in the courts of the Lord’s house, in your midst, O Jerusalem. Hallelujah!Because He has inclined His ear to me, I will call on Him as long as I live.
Do not be afraid, for I am with you; I will bring your offspring from the east and gather you from the west.
Rejoice at all times.Pray without ceasing.Give thanks in every circumstance, for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.
Peace I leave with you; My peace I give to you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled; do not be afraid.
For His anger is fleeting, but His favor lasts a lifetime. Weeping may stay the night, but joy comes in the morning.
The Lord is near to the brokenhearted; He saves the contrite in spirit. Many are the afflictions of the righteous, but the Lord delivers him from them all.
Though You have shown me many troubles and misfortunes, You will revive me once again. Even from the depths of the earth You will bring me back up.You will increase my honor and comfort me once again. So I will praise You with the harp for Your faithfulness, O my God; I will sing praise to You with the lyre, O Holy One of Israel.
“I, even I, am He who comforts you. Why should you be afraid of mortal man, of a son of man who withers like grass?
For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, to give you a future and a hope. Then you will call upon Me and come and pray to Me, and I will listen to you.You will seek Me and find Me when you search for Me with all your heart.
For just as the sufferings of Christ overflow to us, so also through Christ our comfort overflows.
And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying: “Behold, the dwelling place of God is with man, and He will dwell with them. They will be His people, and God Himself will be with them as their God. ‘He will wipe away every tear from their eyes,’ and there will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the former things have passed away.”
