115 Biblical Promises to Bless Our Children

I've been thinking a lot about how much joy it brings to parents when they see their children walking in obedience. It really warms their hearts. On the flip side, disobedience can be heartbreaking and bring shame. The Bible talks about this in Exodus, giving us the only commandment with a promise attached: "Honor your father and your mother, so that you may live long in the land the Lord your God is giving you" (Exodus 20:12). Think about that—a promise of a long life!

You can't really expect things to go well if you're going against what God's word teaches. It's sad to see so many young people making choices that lead them down a destructive path, away from what's right. It's not just a life lost, but also dreams and a purpose cut short. They turn away from the principles they were taught at home, and the consequences can be devastating.

If you're reading this, know that God has good plans for you. He has a purpose for your life, something He's had in mind since the beginning of time. It's a journey of walking towards what He has destined for you. Obeying your parents isn't something to be ashamed of; it's a way of showing your love for them, and ultimately, your love for God.

Let's be honest, none of us want to face eternal separation from God. Listening to your parents and making sure they hear words of appreciation from you is a powerful way to show them love and respect. Being helpful and doing good brings God's mercy and favor into your life, and it earns you respect from others.

The Holy Spirit longs for you to live a life of good character, bringing joy to your parents instead of pain. Imagine the joy you can bring them and the fulfilling life you can live! Ephesians 6:2-4 puts it this way: "Honor your father and your mother, which is the first commandment with promise: that it may go well with you and that you may enjoy long life on the earth."

Then our sons will be like plants, that quickly grow to full size. Our daughters will be like corner pillars, carved like those in a palace.

Yes, sons are a gift from the Lord, the fruit of the womb is a reward.

Train a child in the way that he should go, and when he is old he will not turn from it.

All your children will be followers of the Lord, and your children will enjoy great prosperity.

These words I am commanding you today must be kept in mind,and you must teach them to your children and speak of them as you sit in your house, as you walk along the road, as you lie down, and as you get up.

Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you believe in him, so that you may abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.

And my God will supply your every need according to his glorious riches in Christ Jesus.

But Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me and do not try to stop them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.”

I was once young, now I am old. I have never seen a godly man abandoned, or his children forced to search for food.

Therefore, be imitators of God as dearly loved children

Don’t be afraid, for I am with you! Don’t be frightened, for I am your God! I strengthen you – yes, I help you – yes, I uphold you with my saving right hand!

I have no greater joy than this: to hear that my children are living according to the truth.

“Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called the children of God.

When Esau looked up and saw the women and the children, he asked, “Who are these people with you?” Jacob replied, “The children whom God has graciously given your servant.”

The Spirit himself bears witness to our spirit that we are God’s children.

The Lord will protect you from all harm; he will protect your life.The Lord will protect you in all you do, now and forevermore.

For all who are led by the Spirit of God are the sons of God.

Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not rely on your own understanding.Acknowledge him in all your ways, and he will make your paths straight.

As a father has compassion on his children, so the Lord has compassion on his faithful followers.

I recall your sincere faith that was alive first in your grandmother Lois and in your mother Eunice, and I am sure is in you.

But to all who have received him – those who believe in his name – he has given the right to become God’s children

Certainly you made my mind and heart; you wove me together in my mother’s womb.I will give you thanks because your deeds are awesome and amazing. You knew me thoroughly;

Praise the Lord! How blessed is the one who obeys the Lord, who takes great delight in keeping his commands.When the wicked see this, they will worry; they will grind their teeth in frustration and melt away; the desire of the wicked will perish.His descendants will be powerful on the earth; the godly will be blessed.His house contains wealth and riches; his integrity endures.

(See what sort of love the Father has given to us: that we should be called God’s children – and indeed we are! For this reason the world does not know us: because it did not know him.

Endure your suffering as discipline; God is treating you as sons. For what son is there that a father does not discipline?

The Lord’s angel camps around the Lord’s loyal followers and delivers them.

Fathers, do not provoke your children, so they will not become disheartened.

God is our strong refuge; he is truly our helper in times of trouble.

But those who wait for the Lord’s help find renewed strength; they rise up as if they had eagles’ wings, they run without growing weary, they walk without getting tired.

Listen, children, to a father’s instruction, and pay attention so that you may gain discernment.Listen, my child, and accept my words, so that the years of your life will be many.I will guide you in the way of wisdom and I will lead you in upright paths.When you walk, your steps will not be hampered, and when you run, you will not stumble.Hold on to instruction, do not let it go; protect it, because it is your life.Do not enter the path of the wicked or walk in the way of those who are evil.Avoid it, do not go on it; turn away from it, and go on.For they cannot sleep unless they cause harm; they are robbed of sleep until they make someone stumble.For they eat bread gained from wickedness and drink wine obtained from violence.But the path of the righteous is like the bright morning light, growing brighter and brighter until full day.The way of the wicked is like gloomy darkness; they do not know what causes them to stumble.Because I give you good instruction, do not forsake my teaching.

In my heart I store up your words, so I might not sin against you.

So we must not grow weary in doing good, for in due time we will reap, if we do not give up.

I pray that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give you spiritual wisdom and revelation in your growing knowledge of him,– since the eyes of your heart have been enlightened – so that you may know what is the hope of his calling, what is the wealth of his glorious inheritance in the saints,

And we know that all things work together for good for those who love God, who are called according to his purpose,

The Lord shows his faithful followers the way they should live.

If you then, although you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts to those who ask him!

The Proverbs of Solomon: A wise child makes a father rejoice, but a foolish child is a grief to his mother.

The law of the Lord is perfect and preserves one’s life. The rules set down by the Lord are reliable and impart wisdom to the inexperienced.

Love is patient, love is kind, it is not envious. Love does not brag, it is not puffed up.It is not rude, it is not self-serving, it is not easily angered or resentful.It is not glad about injustice, but rejoices in the truth.It bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.

You keep completely safe the people who maintain their faith, for they trust in you.

He is a father to the fatherless and an advocate for widows. God rules from his holy palace.

You will be blessed when you come in and blessed when you go out.

For his anger lasts only a brief moment, and his good favor restores one’s life. One may experience sorrow during the night, but joy arrives in the morning.

The one who spares his rod hates his child, but the one who loves his child is diligent in disciplining him.

Do not be conformed to this present world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may test and approve what is the will of God – what is good and well-pleasing and perfect.

Now to him who by the power that is working within us is able to do far beyond all that we ask or think,

Discipline your child, for there is hope, but do not set your heart on causing his death.

What then shall we say about these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?

Then you will take delight in the Lord, and he will answer your prayers.

Now faith is being sure of what we hope for, being convinced of what we do not see.

How blessed is every one of the Lord’s loyal followers, each one who keeps his commands!You will eat what you worked so hard to grow. You will be blessed and secure.

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,gentleness, and self-control. Against such things there is no law.

The name of the Lord is like a strong tower; the righteous person runs to it and is set safely on high.

Then you will call out, and the Lord will respond; you will cry out, and he will reply, ‘Here I am.’ You must remove the burdensome yoke from among you and stop pointing fingers and speaking sinfully.

His descendants will be powerful on the earth; the godly will be blessed.

But above all pursue his kingdom and righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.

The Lord is my shepherd, I lack nothing.He takes me to lush pastures, he leads me to refreshing water.He restores my strength. He leads me down the right paths for the sake of his reputation.

For he chose us in Christ before the foundation of the world that we may be holy and unblemished in his sight in love.He did this by predestining us to adoption as his sons through Jesus Christ, according to the pleasure of his will –

The one who pursues righteousness and love finds life, bounty, and honor.

Everything you do should be done in love.

The Lord is merciful and fair; our God is compassionate.

Blessed is the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort,who comforts us in all our troubles so that we may be able to comfort those experiencing any trouble with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God.

Sons born during one’s youth are like arrows in a warrior’s hand.How blessed is the man who fills his quiver with them! They will not be put to shame when they confront enemies at the city gate.

Instead of shame, you will get a double portion; instead of humiliation, they will rejoice over the land they receive. Yes, they will possess a double portion in their land and experience lasting joy.

For the payoff of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Surely your goodness and faithfulness will pursue me all my days, and I will live in the Lord’s house for the rest of my life.

Do not be anxious about anything. Instead, in every situation, through prayer and petition with thanksgiving, tell your requests to God.And the peace of God that surpasses all understanding will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.

He does not fear bad news. He is confident; he trusts in the Lord.His resolve is firm; he will not succumb to fear before he looks in triumph on his enemies.

Every word of God is purified; he is like a shield for those who take refuge in him.

And this is the confidence that we have before him: that whenever we ask anything according to his will, he hears us.And if we know that he hears us in regard to whatever we ask, then we know that we have the requests that we have asked from him.

Keep thinking about things above, not things on the earth,

Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.Take my yoke on you and learn from me, because I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.“Are you the one who is to come, or should we look for another?”For my yoke is easy to bear, and my load is not hard to carry.”

For sin will have no mastery over you, because you are not under law but under grace.

The Lord is good to all, and has compassion on all he has made.

and how from infancy you have known the holy writings, which are able to give you wisdom for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus.

The one who loves discipline loves knowledge, but the one who hates reproof is stupid.

For by grace you are saved through faith, and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God;it is not from works, so that no one can boast.

He is the reason you have a relationship with Christ Jesus, who became for us wisdom from God, and righteousness and sanctification and redemption,

I long for your deliverance, O Lord; I find delight in your law.

Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is worthy of respect, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if something is excellent or praiseworthy, think about these things.

And let us take thought of how to spur one another on to love and good works,not abandoning our own meetings, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging each other, and even more so because you see the day drawing near.

For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor heavenly rulers, nor things that are present, nor things to come, nor powers,nor height, nor depth, nor anything else in creation will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Smile on your servant! Teach me your statutes!

So then, whenever we have an opportunity, let us do good to all people, and especially to those who belong to the family of faith.

He says, “Stop your striving and recognize that I am God! I will be exalted over the nations! I will be exalted over the earth!”

And God is able to make all grace overflow to you so that because you have enough of everything in every way at all times, you will overflow in every good work.

Take pains with these things; be absorbed in them, so that everyone will see your progress.Be conscientious about how you live and what you teach. Persevere in this, because by doing so you will save both yourself and those who listen to you.

Keep his statutes and commandments that I am setting forth today so that it may go well with you and your descendants and that you may enjoy longevity in the land that the Lord your God is about to give you as a permanent possession.

The Lord shows his faithful followers the way they should live.They experience his favor; their descendants inherit the land.

Your wife will be like a fruitful vine in the inner rooms of your house; your children will be like olive branches, as they sit all around your table.Yes indeed, the man who fears the Lord will be blessed in this way.

Fear the Lord, my child, as well as the king, and do not associate with rebels,for suddenly their destruction will overtake them, and who knows the ruinous judgment both the Lord and the king can bring?

Fathers, do not provoke your children to anger, but raise them up in the discipline and instruction of the Lord.

So I want younger women to marry, raise children, and manage a household, in order to give the adversary no opportunity to vilify us.

Do everything without grumbling or arguing,so that you may be blameless and pure, children of God without blemish though you live in a crooked and perverse society, in which you shine as lights in the world

And have you forgotten the exhortation addressed to you as sons? “My son, do not scorn the Lord’s discipline or give up when he corrects you.
