O Lord, do your eyes not look for truth? You have struck them, but they felt no anguish; you have consumed them, but they refused to take correction. They have made their faces harder than rock; they have refused to turn back.


“If someone has a stubborn and rebellious son who will not obey his father and mother, who does not heed them when they discipline him,


They shall say to the elders of his town, ‘This son of ours is stubborn and rebellious. He will not obey us. He is a glutton and a drunkard.’


See to it that no one fails to obtain the grace of God, that no root of bitterness springs up and causes trouble and through it many become defiled.


But be doers of the word and not merely hearers who deceive themselves.


I reprove and discipline those whom I love. Be earnest, therefore, and repent.
