Jesus’ disciples came and said to Him, “why are you speaking to them [i.e., the large crowds] by using parables?”
He then left the crowds and went into the house. [While there] His disciples came to Him, and said, “Explain to us [the meaning of] the parable of the weeds in the field.”
After Jesus returned to Capernaum several days later, it became known that He was [back] at home [i.e., possibly at the house of Peter and Andrew, where He was staying. See 1:29].
Soon a crowd assembled again so that they could not even eat a meal [i.e., without people crowding all around them].
And when He was alone those people who gathered around Him, along with the twelve apostles, asked Him what the parables meant.
And He did not speak to them [i.e., concerning the kingdom] without using a parable, but He explained everything to His own disciples privately.
And when He had gone into the house away from the crowd His disciples asked Him about this parable.
But Jesus grasped his hand and lifted him up, and he arose [fully healed].
He answered them; “This kind [of spirit] cannot be driven out except by praying.”
