So, the Son of man is lord [i.e., has authority] even over the Sabbath day.”
Then Jesus said to them, “I ask you, is it permitted by the Law of Moses to do something good or to do something harmful on the Sabbath day? To save a life or to destroy it?”
If a person is circumcised on a Sabbath day so that the Law of Moses can be observed [properly, then why] are you upset with me for restoring a person to complete health on a Sabbath day?
For everything [i.e., that we have experienced. See verses 8-12] is for your sakes so that [God’s] unearned favor, being extended to so many, [in bringing them salvation through Paul’s ministry] may result in much thanksgiving in praise to God.
So, do not allow anyone to judge [i.e., condemn] you for what you eat, or what you drink, or regarding [your nonobservance of] a [yearly] festival, or a [monthly] “new moon” observance, or a [weekly] Sabbath day.
