112 Bible Verses about Joy

I want to tell you about a joy that can chase away every sadness and fill your heart to overflowing. It's not a fleeting feeling based on how your day is going, but something you build day by day in the presence of the Holy Spirit.

It's your relationship with the Holy Spirit that will lead you to truly know God. And once you know Him, you'll worship Him in a way that pours out of you like a river of praise, just thinking about how amazing your Savior is. You'll understand His goodness in your life, and laughter will just bubble up.

That's when you'll realize that the happiness this world offers is based on things that fade away, but the joy Jesus puts in your soul lasts forever. God wants you to find refuge in Him, and even in the midst of tears, to find a song of worship rising within you.

When you come to Him, surrendering at His feet, you'll be filled and comforted. Even when you're going through tough times, trials, and struggles, the joy of the Lord will be your strength, and you'll be able to keep going, fulfilling the purpose God has for you.

By God’s grace, His joy will uphold you and give you what you need to face anything. As Psalm 28:7 (NIV) says, "The Lord is my strength and my shield; my heart trusts in him, and he helps me. My heart leaps for joy, and with my song I praise him."

James 1:2-3

Count it all joy, my brothers, when you meet trials of various kinds,

for the anger of man does not produce the righteousness of God.

Therefore put away all filthiness and rampant wickedness and receive with meekness the implanted word, which is able to save your souls.

But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves.

For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man who looks intently at his natural face in a mirror.

For he looks at himself and goes away and at once forgets what he was like.

But the one who looks into the perfect law, the law of liberty, and perseveres, being no hearer who forgets but a doer who acts, he will be blessed in his doing.

If anyone thinks he is religious and does not bridle his tongue but deceives his heart, this person’s religion is worthless.

Religion that is pure and undefiled before God the Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their affliction, and to keep oneself unstained from the world.

for you know that the testing of your faith produces steadfastness.

In my darkest hours and greatest needs, you've filled me with your joy and let me experience your faithfulness firsthand. Because of you, Jesus, I can have true joy in every season of my life. As my day unfolds, please help me remember your love and promises, for they are the wellspring of all my joy. Lord Jesus, help me to always have a grateful heart, no matter what. Let your joy remain in me, even in the toughest times, because I know that every circumstance holds a valuable purpose, a unique lesson, and an opportunity to learn. Your word says, "I will go to the altar of God, to God my exceeding joy, and I will praise you with the harp, O God, my God." Lord, guide me now in your presence, that I may receive your peace until it overflows and I can be a blessing to those around me. Thank you, God, for loving me, caring for me, providing for me, and protecting my family. I know that by seeking you and serving you, I will find the joy, happiness, and delight I need. All glory be to you, Lord. In Jesus' name, Amen.
