¹⁸ And they did as she bade them, and shut the garden doors, and went out themselves at the side doors to fetch the things that she had commanded them: and they saw not the elders, because they were hid.

¹⁸ They did just what she said. They locked the gates to the garden and went through the side doors into the house to fetch the things she had wanted. They didn’t see the elders, since they were hiding.

¹⁸ The servants locked the main gates and went out by the side door to get what Susanna had asked for. They did not notice the two men.
