And the LORD saw that Leah was hated, and he opened her womb: but Rachel was barren.


And she conceived again, and bare a son; and said, Because the LORD hath heard that I am hated, he hath therefore given me this son also: and she called his name Simeon.


He that spareth his rod hateth his son: But he that loveth him chasteneth him betimes.


He that loveth father or mother more than me is not worthy of me; and he that loveth son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me.


Have ye not read even this scripture; The stone which the builders rejected, The same was made the head of the corner:


If any man cometh unto me, and hateth not his own father, and mother, and wife, and children, and brethren, and sisters, yea, and his own life also, he cannot be my disciple.


He that loveth his life loseth it; and he that hateth his life in this world shall keep it unto life eternal.
