howbeit the gold, and the silver, the brass, the iron, the tin, and the lead,


Take the sum of the prey that was taken, both of man and of beast, thou, and Eleazar the priest, and the heads of the fathers' houses of the congregation:


Is it not lawful for me to do what I will with mine own? or is thine eye evil, because I am good?


But all the cattle, and the spoil of the cities, we took for a prey unto ourselves.


And they went out, they and all their hosts with them, much people, even as the sand that is upon the sea shore in multitude, with horses and chariots very many.


And thou shalt do to Ai and her king as thou didst unto Jericho and her king: only the spoil thereof, and the cattle thereof, shall ye take for a prey unto yourselves: set thee an ambush for the city behind it.


So Joshua burnt Ai, and made it an heap for ever, even a desolation, unto this day.
