Lay thine hand upon him, Remember the battle, do no more.

Lay your hand upon him! Remember your battle with him; you will not do [such an ill-advised thing] again!

Should you lay your hand on him, you would never remember the battle.

They adhere to one another, and they hold themselves in place and will not be separated.

They stick one to another and they hold one another fast, and shall not be separated.

And the king of Israel answered and said, tell him, Let not him that girdeth on his armour boast himself as he that putteth it off.

But they were exceedingly afraid, and said, Behold, the two kings stood not before him: how then shall we stand?

Canst thou fill his skin with barbed irons, Or his head with fish spears?

Behold, the hope of him is in vain: Shall not one be cast down even at the sight of him?
