Peradventure there be fifty righteous within the city: wilt thou consume and not spare the place for the fifty righteous that are therein?


And all Israel shall mourn for him, and bury him; for he only of Jeroboam shall come to the grave: because in him there is found some good thing toward the LORD, the God of Israel, in the house of Jeroboam.


And it was so, that as oft as the king entered into the house of the LORD, the guard came and bare them, and brought them back into the guard chamber.


Nevertheless there are good things found in thee, in that thou hast put away the Asheroth out of the land, and hast set thine heart to seek God.


For thus saith the high and lofty One that inhabiteth eternity, whose name is Holy: I dwell in the high and holy place, with him also that is of a contrite and humble spirit, to revive the spirit of the humble, and to revive the heart of the contrite ones.


And if there be yet a tenth in it, it shall again be eaten up: as a terebinth, and as an oak, whose stock remaineth, when they are felled; so the holy seed is the stock thereof.


It is of the LORD'S mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not.


For he doth not afflict willingly, nor grieve the children of men.


We have transgressed and have rebelled; thou hast not pardoned.


Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time;
