Set a guard over my mouth, O Lord, keep watch over the door of my lips!


When words are many, transgression is not lacking, but he who restrains his lips is prudent.


An evil man is ensnared by the transgression of his lips, but the righteous escapes from trouble.


He who guards his mouth preserves his life; he who opens wide his lips comes to ruin.


The highway of the upright turns aside from evil; he who guards his way preserves his life.


Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruits.


If any one thinks he is religious, and does not bridle his tongue but deceives his heart, this man's religion is vain.
