he said, “Depart; for the girl is not dead but sleeping.” And they laughed at him.


And all were weeping and bewailing her; but he said, “Do not weep; for she is not dead but sleeping.”


Thus he spoke, and then he said to them, “Our friend Lazarus has fallen asleep, but I go to awake him out of sleep.”


The disciples said to him, “Lord, if he has fallen asleep, he will recover.”


Then Jesus told them plainly, “Lazarus is dead;
